It had been eleven days since Cynthia had visited. Kai was almost fully recovered and set to be released tomorrow. Things had been awfully quiet and extremely boring. Kai and Lucario were miserable, spending most of their time locked up in the room watching shows on the TV. Kai had been moving around the hospital by day eight, but his walks were limited due to still being in pain and slightly injured. During this time, Kai was able to withdraw several Pokemon he had at Professor Oak's ranch, knowing he would need them now that he was part of Project Giratina. Currently, his team consisted of Lucario, Charizard, Nidoking, Sceptile, Floatzel, and Ninjask. While it wasn't his strongest team, Kai understood that all his Pokemon were highly trained and close to each other in power. Besides, Kai didn't exactly slack making his team either, bringing in Pokemon with different sets of skills and specialties. Kai balanced his team with typing, speed, power, and for different situations. Kai also already had powerhouses on his team, being Lucario, Charizard, and Floatzel.
It was 10pm when Kai pulled out his phone to text Cynthia. After a few seconds, he finished typing and pressed the send button
"Hey Cynthia, I'm all set to be released tomorrow morning. I'm good to go so how about we meet up tomorrow?" Kai's text said. Kai let his head fall down into the pillow behind him. It only took about 3 seconds before his ringer went off, alerting him that he had a text. Kai opened up his phone, surprised that Cynthia had already texted back.
"Perfect, I'll send my people to pick you all up at 8 AM. See you soon." Cynthia had wrote in her text. Kai smiled, excited to be able to work alongside Cynthia to take down a criminal organization. It wasn't every day where Cynthia Shirona personally requested for you to help her take down a region's biggest threat. As Kai was daydreaming, Lucario and May walked into the room with three trays of food. Kai assumed that Sarah was outside of the hospital somewhere, most likely training her Pokemon.
"We've brought you food from the cafeteria Master." Lucario told Kai, who thanked Lucario as he took his tray while sitting up from his bed
"Appreciate it Lucario. Also, quit calling me Master! I shouldn't have to tell you constantly!" Kai ordered Lucario, who bowed his head
"Yes Master"
"Well that worked well." May joked out loud, covering her smile with her hand. "I think you should stop telling him at this point since it's obvious he's never going to stop calling you that." May recommended to Kai. Kai shook his head, glaring at Lucario.
"Whatever. I say we watch a movie for our last night here. What do you guys say?" Kai asked May and Lucario. May agreed, jumping on the bed next to Kai so she could be more comfortable watching it. Lucario nodded, retrieving the remote before handing it to Kai. It took a while to pick a movie, but they eventually settled on watching Spider Man: No Way Home
One Hour Later:
Lucario sat literally right underneath the TV, being way too close to be able to watch it comfortably. Kai and May tried telling him to back up so he could enjoy the movie more comfortably, but it was to no avail. Luckily for Kai and May, the hospital bed was big enough to fit both of them comfortably, with only their shoulders brushing against each other.
"Andrew Garfield is the best Spider Man, for sure!" Kai argued to May, who turned to the side, looking at Kai.
"There's no way. Tom Holland is easily the best Spider Man. He's the best all around Spider Man. He's good at being Peter Parker and great at being Spider Man. Andrew Garfield only excels at being Spider Man while Tobey Maguire is only good at being Peter Parker." May stated, poing towards the screen with her hand, while using her left elbow to prop herself up to where she could easily talk to Kai and see the movie at the same time. Kai shifted his body so where he was facing May, before replying.
"Ok, first of all, Andrew Garfield's Spider Man is a badass. He's the coolest one out of them by far. Secondly, Tobey Maguire has absiolutely NO GAME! He got cheated on like four times! Also, he has the least swag out of all of them. Thirdly, Tom Holland is just average. He's just special because he's the most average out of everything. Also he literally just let his aunt die 10 minutes ago." Kai replied, before wincing as May playfully slapped his arm when bringing up the Aunt's death.
"I agree with Master. Andrew does appear to be the greatest Spider Man of all time." Lucario commented, not removing his eyes from looking directly up at the TV.
"Thank you Lucario! See, even Lucario agrees with me." Kai stated, looking at May who opened her mouth widely in shock.
"Lucario can't even see what's going on! Look at where he's sitting!" May screamed as the two of them laughed. The trio continued watching. About 10 minutes later, Sarah appeared, walking through the door before pausing.
"Oh we're watching Spiderman! How exciting!" Sarah said excitedly, jogging to the bed before climbing on top of it. She then slid between Kai and May, pushing the both of them to the side until she was perfectly in the center of the bed. With two people, the hospital bed was able to fit Kai and May perfectly. With the new addition of Sarah, it was a tiny bit cramped. Lucario seemed oblivious to what was going on, opting to continue eating hospital food while staring directly up at the TV. While May tried to play it off, she was a bit upset that Sarah squeezed between her and Kai when they were having such a good time. May glared at the TV, disappointed that they were bonding so well until Sarah had shown up. Once again, Sarah seemed oblivious to May, hugging Kai's arm while watching the movie.
Meanwhile, Kai didn't have any complaints about being so close to Sarah. Not only was she very attractive but Kai no longer saw her as the flirty girl he met. Over the past eleven days, Kai had been able to get to know Sarah and May more. While Sarah appeared as only flirty when they first met, Kai had discovered that she was actually pretty funny and very passionate about being a Pokemon Trainer. This was something that Kai admired about Sarah. Seeing Sarah so close to him, basically hugging his side with her head on his shoulder, Kai shrugged and continued to watch the movie. The group continued to watch the movie until the end credits appeared. Sarah had fallen asleep, with her head resting on Kai's chest. Kai was struggling to stay awake since it was already 1AM, but eventually had past out a few minutes before the end credits began.
May had gotten up from her bed, refusing to look at the two trainers so close to each other. Instead, she wished Lucario good night and walked to her private room inside the hospital to sleep. Luckily for the group, Cynthia had payed the hospital and their staff to reserve hospital rooms for the group. A gift for Kai and Lucario sacrificing their lives to protect Oreburgh City and it's residents. Lucario, turned around and noticed the position the two trainers were in.
"You've gotten yourself in quite the situation here with these girls Master.." Kai said to himself. While Kai was too oblivious to notice the girl's attitudes and feelings towards Kai, Lucario wasn't as lacking as Kai was in that department.
Contemplating whether or not he should leave Sarah there on Kai's bed, Lucario eventually decided it would be the wiser decision to carry Sarah to her bed. Once Lucario had picked Sarah up and dropped her off to her bed without waking her, he returned to Kai's room. Knowing how uncomfortable it would be to sleep another night against a wooden chair, Lucario opted to press his Pokeball, with a red light sucking him in. With all members of the group now resting, it would only be a matter of time before their mission began.
7:30 AM
BEEP BEEP BEEP
Kai groaned loudly in annoyance at the alarm clock the hospital had provided. Without lifting his head, he attempted to turn it off by smacking his hand repeatedly on the top of the alarm box. The alarm refused to shut off, only seeming louder as time progressed. Growing frustrated, Kai eventually slammed his glowing blue hand on the alarm clock, completely shattering the alarm clock in a countless number of pieces.
"I am not paying for that shit." Kai complained to himself, before getting up and changing into his usual attire. After brushing his teeth, Kai had gotten a coffee and drank it all in only a few minutes. Not seeing Lucario anywhere in his room or in the hospital lobby, Kai came to the conclusion that he probably was just inside his Pokeball. He made the reminder to let him out when meeting with Cynthia. Kai waited in the hospital lobby downstairs for Sarah and May. After they arrived downstairs, Kai told the two of them to wait outside the hospital while he pays for the hospital bills. The two agreed, leaving Kai with just the receptionist. The receptionist handed him a packet of papers, with the first page displaying the total costs that accumulated due to his injures and duration of his stay. Kai's eyes and mouth opened, definitely displaying his shock at the price.
"$424,000 Pokedollars?! You're kidding!" Kai exclaimed, not believing how expensive his stay and treatment was.
"Um it's ok sir. The costs were already payed for by Cynthia Shirona. I just need your signature here at the bottom." the older woman stated, pointing at the signature box a little nervously. After hearing this, Kai thanked Arceus and whatever gods before thanking the staff and leaving the hospital. Upon arriving, a black van was parked in front of the valet. The doors opened, revealing a handful of security guards dressed in black tuxedos inside. One motioned for the group to come inside, before they all complied. The drive there was awkward to say the least. No one was feeling particular talkative. Every time Kai had something to say, he bit his tongue, refraining himself from doing so.
The car ride took about twenty five minutes before the van reached it's destination. Upon arriving, the security guards led them to a worn down warehouses in the middle of Celestica City.
"Couldn't Cynthia have picked a nicer place to meet? Seems a little beneath the Champion of Sinnoh is all." Sarah whispered to May and Kai, who laughed agreeing.
Entering inside the warehouse, Kai and the group only noticed an abundance of wooden boxes. Kai turned towards one of the security guards and stared at him blankly
"Cynthia isn't even here man. I don't know why we're even here." Kai complained, frustration getting the better of him at that moment. The security guard simply smirked, before going to the wall and pulling a lever. The floor to the side of him opened up, with an elevator shaft appearing and sliding upwards to where it was level with the ground now. The whole group laughed in amazement while the security guards began to walk into the massive elevator.
"You were saying?" The security guard who pulled the lever asked Kai, who muttered "Nothing." in response.
The elevator ride took longer than the group thought it would. Bored, Kai kept softly kicking behind May's knees, leading to her being slightly annoyed. Who could blame him though? He was bored out of his damn mind. After an eternity, the elevator opened to reveal an extremely futuristic workspace. The place spread out in all kinds of directions. What was more impressive than the size of the place was the quality of it. There had to be hundreds of desks and people working or walking around the area. The group started in amazement at the workspace.
"Welcome to HQ. All vital members of Project Giratina complete their work or research here. If you would follow me, I was tasked with bringing you all to Cynthia personally." A middle aged man stated. The man was dressed in brown pants, glasses, and a lab suit. On his lab coat, there was a name plate that read, "Professor Diaz". Professor Diaz then led Kai, May, and Sarah to a private meeting room. Seeing Professor Diaz, the large detail of security guards scattered back to their own personal workspaces. It took a few minutes to navigate through the underground floor but after a while, the group entered the private meeting room. Cynthia sat at the head of the table alone, smiling when the group entered the room.
"Welcome to HQ everybody. I'm glad to see you recovered alright Kai. This is Professor Diaz. He is one of the head researches in Project Giratina and serves a crucial role in this operation. Feel free to contact him if you need anything." Cynthia stated before thanking Professor Diaz. Professor Diaz waved goodbye before walking out of the room, leaving the group to speak with Cynthia. The group sat down at the 6 person table. Kai sat at the opposite side of the table, facing Cynthia, while May and Sarah sat on the right side of Kai, stretching out to where Sarah sat next to Cynthia. Kai released Lucario from his Pokeball, knowing that he would want to be present for this. Once released, Lucario sat next to Kai on his left side.
"Let's get started, shall we? I will have somebody come by later to give you a tour of HQ but for now, I'll list all the different areas we have. HQ is fit with training grounds, weight rooms, and sparring grounds. I know that these facilities will be helpful for your training Kai and Lucario. There are several kitchens and lounges to relax. Showers are at opposite sides of HQ and there are plenty for everyone. When not deployed on missions, you can reside here. We have plenty of sleeping dorms to fit more than 4 times the people who already stay here. There are plenty other facilities I have yet to name but those are going to be the most important. Finally, there are a countless number of rooms where we will schedule missions and complete preparation before moving on to actually doing the mission. Any questions?" Cynthia finished, taking a deep breath after a semi long rant. May and Sarah nodded, thanking Cynthia while Kai put a thumbs up.
"There are a few more people I want you to meet. Today, you will meet a 16 year old teenager by the name of Seiya. While I was reluctant to bring him in, his family funds our operation extremely well. The young boy also shows a little promise in terms of battling. However, he excels in field work and research. Great mind. While he is not ready for mission related activities, I hope he will be one day with the help of others. Maybe you could help train him as well Kai?" Cynthia proposed hopefully.
Kai tightened his lips, not wanting any more things added on his little "To do list". What the hell though. He was already fighting against the most dangerous criminal organizations in Sinnoh. Helping a teenager in terms of battling didn't seem too bad.
"Fine Cynthia. You know what though? Considering that we're doing all this for free and I'm basically just a soldier around here, I want perks." Kai demanded, staring at Cynthia with a straight face. Lucario's ears twitched up after hearing Kai say "perks", now intrigued by the whole conversation.
"Ok, lets get a couple things straight here. You're not working here for free Kai. You're getting paid $50,000 weekly. I'm pretty sure your being compensating very well. Ne-"
"Can each of us have our own Master Bedroom?" Lucario interrupted Cynthia, now involved in the conversation. May and Sarah's eyes widened, turning to Cynthia and waiting for an answer.
"Ugh, fine. If you have any other requests than you can WRITE them down and I will CONSIDER them. I won't grant whatever request you have. It's the least I can do for having an aura user on our side." Cynthia winked at Kai before leaving the room, stating that she will be bringing back Seima so they can meet each other.
"Master, did the Champion of Sinnoh just flirt with you?" Lucario questioned Kai, disbelieving of what just occurred.
"You bet your ass Lucario" Kai replied cockily.
"God your way too cocky…" May muttered under her breath.
Chapter 8 everybody! I'm most likely finished with accepting OC's for characters travelling alongside Kai (You are still free to submit your own but there is a solid chance that I won't accept it). However, if you would like to submit OC's for Chaos, that would be great! Hope you all enjoyed and I'll see you soon!
