The group sat at the back of the Communications Van, preparing to infiltrate the Eterna City Chaos base. They were parked about a mile away from the base. It had been three days since Kai's sparring match with Lucario, meaning today was finally the day. Operation Eterna was a go. Kai, Sarah, and May were dressed in black jumpsuits, covering their whole body all the way up to their neck. The bodysuits were equipped with multiple pockets on both the upper and lower body. The three's waists were also equipped with a belt containing all of their Pokemon. Kai's outfit looked the same as Sarah's and May's, besides a black hood he had hanging behind his head. Kai wasn't wearing it at the moment, having his messy black hair showing. Silas wore one of his training outfits, not wearing a black jumpsuit as he wasn't expected to have to infiltrate the base. Finally, Seiya wore regular clothes, which consisted of a normal long sleeve, black hoodie with a pokeball on the front, and some basketball shorts. Seiya was concentrated fully on the many computer screens in front of him, staring at the screens and working the computer system with his glasses on.
"Alright everybody. The surveillance team says that Kai and Silas are free to move into their respective positions." Seiya stated, before writing back to HQ, notifying them that the two of them were on the move. Kai nodded, before getting up next to Silas.
"Alright Silas, let's do this shit." Kai told the smaller teenager confidently, holding out his fist for a fist bump. The blue haired teen stared at the outstretched fist for a few seconds, before bumping fists with the black haired trainer.
"We'll let you guys know when we're in position." Kai told the group as they walked out to the van's back exit.
"Wait!" May said loudly, walking towards the two. May hugged both of them and then took a step back. "Be careful you two." Don't go radio silent." The duo nodded at May, before Silas exited the van, with Kai following him. Kai was about to leave the van before turning back towards the black haired trainer, who had also gotten up from her seat. Sarah gave Kai a hug, before releasing it and wrapping her arms around the taller boy's neck, peering up at him.
"I'll see you soon Aura Guardian" Sarah quietly said, flirting with him.
"See you soon" Kai replied grinning, with his teeth showing.
The two looked at May, who interrupted their moment by coughing loudly. "You need to get going Kai." May stated seriously. Kai nodded, before opening the back door of the van and jumped out. Once Kai left, May looked back at Sarah, who shrugged while smiling.
"God that man is sexy." Sarah told May casually.
"Guys, I'm trying to focus here." Seiya stated loudly from the other side of the van, his fingers hitting the keyboard in front of him harshly. May massaged her temple, sighing out loud.
It took Silas only two minutes to reach his assigned point. There, Silas found a good spot to avoid being seen. Silas crouched about fifty yards from one of the bases entrances, using the trees of the forest as cover. To cover his blind spots, Silas released two of his Pokemon to aid him. Croagunk and Gastrodon faced the blue haired trainer, ready to help maintain a safe perimeter. Once Croagunk and Gastrodon were set up in the correct positions, Silas pressed on his ear piece, activating his microphone.
"I'm in position." Silas simply stated, before deactivating his microphone.
After a few minutes, Kai finally made it in front of his designated position. Kai and Lucario stood behind a wall, with Kai having let out Lucario a minute prior to arriving there. The two were still outside the base. Kai stood at the edge of the wall, peeking his head a bit to see the outside entrance that was guarded. There were about eight Chaos grunts keeping watch outside. Luckily for Kai and Lucario, they seemed to be pretty spread out, making it easier for the group to take the grunts down while remaining unseen. "I'm in position. I'll notify you again Seiya when Lucario and I clear the area and enter the base." Kai spoke while pressing his earpiece.
Silas spoke to Kai, before turning towards May and Sarah, giving them permission to leave the van and make it to the roof of the base. May and Sarah nodded smiling, ready to complete the mission. Sarah sent out one of her Pokemon. Out of the pokeball appeared a Talonflame. Sarah pet the bird on the top of its head, before climbing on top of it. May also got on top of the Talonflame, with the bird being more than capable of flying the two of them. It also wasn't a long flight, making it easier for the Pokemon.
While the two girls made their trip to their position, Seiya was busy hacking into the outside cameras on both the roof and outside entrances on the first floor. The dark haired boy was nervous, quickly typing different commands and pulling up all kinds of different screens. "The 6'2 teenager cursed to himself, becoming more uneasy. Only a few seconds later though, the boy succeeded in remotely hacking into the cameras, before playing a loop of the surveillance a week ago, fooling the surveillance staff inside the Eterna City base. Seiya pumped his fist, proud of himself for successfully hacking into the cameras. Unfortunately for the group, Seiya could not hack into the cameras inside the base due to it being heavily protected and containing a complicated firewall, preventing other outside users from accessing them. It would be up to May and Sarah to shut them off inside the base.
Soon, the girls arrived on top of the roof. Since the camera's were playing footage from a different day and time, no one would be able to spot the girls. Sarah and May sat patiently besides the door, knowing that Kai would first have to take out the guards inside the first floor, before they had permission to enter the building on its third floor. "Sarah and I are in position. Waiting on you Kai." May spoke, high fiving Sarah happily.
"Got it." Kai whispered through the earpiece, turning to Lucario. "I'll take out the guards that are furthest to the entrance. You stick closer to the wall and take out those." Kai told Lucario, before moving towards the first two grunts. Kai pulled his hoodie, covering the majority of his face while crouching behind one of Chaos's cars. One of the grunts walked around the car, following his patrol route. As soon as Kai had the chance, Kai grabbed the grunt from behind, with his arm wrapped around the grunt's neck. Kai's other hand held the grunt's mouth, preventing him from calling for help. The Chaos agent struggled but eventually fell unconscious due to the lack of oxygen. Kai let the soldier drop quietly onto the floor, before advancing. Kai came up from behind another soldier, who was distracted staring at his phone. Rather than wasting time choking him unconscious, the Johto League Tournament winner simply formed a Bo staff using his aura, hitting the grunt with it swiftly. The grunt was knocked out, falling to the ground before Kai caught him and let him fall softly. Kai looked to his left, seeing Lucario had already made quick work of two of his soldiers. Lucario came up from behind two soldiers, forming his bone using bone rush. Lucario knocked out one of the grunts from behind with the bone. When the other soldier turned around prepared to fight, Lucario swept his legs out from underneath him, before hitting him on the head using Bone Rush. While Lucario had taken out all four of his assigned targets, he made the mistake of alerting one of Kai's, who witnessed what had just occurred. The grunt prepared to send out all six of his Pokemon, with Lucario about to throw an aura sphere to stop him. It looked like Lucario would be too late. He was saved though, when the grunt was hit by an aura sphere from behind, revealing Kai, breathing heavily due to the close call.
"You owe me one buddy." Kai told Lucario, with his hands on his knees, laughing due to the close call of alerting the base. Lucario smiled at Kai, nodding. His smile disappeared though, before throwing an aura sphere directly at Kai. Kai's eyes widened at his partner attacking him, ducking backwards while still standing to avoid the aura sphere. It turned out that the aura sphere was not intended for Kai, but rather the last remaining grunt, who was about to taze Kai from behind. The aura sphere hit the grunt, sending him into the wall, definitely unconscious after his head bounced against the concrete.
"I believe we are even now Master." Lucario calmly stated while walking towards the garage entrance. The black haired teen grinned while walking with Lucario, his arm around his best friend's shoulder.
"Lucario and I have cleared the hostiles outside of the garage. We're entering the base now." Kai spoke through the earpiece to Seiya and the others, before opening the garage door quietly alongside Lucario.
Hearing that Kai and Lucario were able to make it inside, May and Sarah opened the roof door. The duo were inside a small concrete room, with a steel ladder going down to the third floor. May went down the ladder first, with Sarah following behind her closely. Once the two girls made it at the bottom of the ladder, they took notice of their surroundings. They were inside a maintenance room, with a door on the left wall and a door directly ahead of them. Sarah stuck her head through the door on the left. That hallway was crowded with soldiers, making Sarah shut the door quickly and lean against the wall, before smiling at May.
"Definitely not through there." Sarah said, with May agreeing and heading to the door ahead of them. It was May this time that peeked open the door. The hallway only had two Chaos agents at the end of the hall, facing the opposite side of the hallway. The girls were about to leave the room they were in until they heard Seiya's voice through their ear.
"The surveillance and communications room is the third door down the hallway, to the left. You need to get in there without being spotted. Kai is almost done clearing out the first floor. Once you two get in there, I'll guide you through the steps. Got it?" Seiya asked, monitoring their location through the trackers they had on their jumpsuits. May and Sarah agreed quietly, before making the walk through the hallway. The two girls were extremely careful moving down the hallway, afraid that they would alert the guards if they were too loud. Occasionally, they hid behind cover that the walls and doors would give them, taking time to gather themselves before continuing. Currently, Sarah was ten feet ahead of May, almost at the entrance of the Surveillance room. May was almost there, with Sarah having reached the door, now waiting on May. Only having to take a few more steps forward to reach the door, May was forced to step backwards into cover when she saw the two guards ahead of her turn around, now facing her. The two guards began to walk towards May and Sarah, while chatting to each other. Reluctantly, Sarah slipped inside the surveillance room due to having no other choice. She could only hope that May was able to hide from them without getting seen. If she were to help May, they would both be caught and the mission would be completely compromised.
"Shit, I need to go backwards." May thought to herself, before walking backwards since she had nowhere else to go. May walked in the same direction the two grunts were, hiding in the cover that she used. Suddenly, May stopped when she heard footsteps approaching her from the other direction. May began to panic, thinking of a quick plan that wouldn't get herself killed. She looked at the wall behind her, thanking Arceus that there was a door with a small window at the top. "I have no choice." The Pokemon Coordinator thought, before opening and closing the door behind her. May turned around, praying that no one was inside the room. Somehow, the large laboratory she stumbled into was completely empty. Once again, Seiya's voice sounded in her earpiece.
"May, there are two Chaos agents following you. They must have seen you enter the room. You need to hide, now!" Seiya urged her, with May complying immediately. May searched the room, eventually deciding to underneath one of the desks inside the laboratory. May closed her eyes, attempting to control her breathing as she heard the door open.
Kai and Lucario had finished clearing out the first floor five minutes ago, waiting for Sarah and May to shut down the Surveillance and Communications before clearing out the second floor with the help of his Pokemon. It was taking the girls way too long though to complete their task. Something was up.
"There's something wrong Lucario. They should have shut it down by now." Kai spoke to Lucario, who looked at Kai before speaking.
"Have patience Kai. They're most likely fine." Lucario reasoned with his trainer, using a zip tie on the final grunt to restrain him in case he woke up.
Kai tapped his foot on the floor impatiently, stopping when his earpiece turned on suddenly.
"Kai, we have a major problem. May made some guards suspicious and they're following her. She hasn't been spotted yet but she will be soon. I need you to get to her as quickly as possible without alerting Chaos!" Seiya said panicked, before typing into the computer so he was now speaking with Sarah.
"Ok Sarah, your going to have to shut down their communications by yourself. Open up the panel underneath the main desk. Listen to my instructions and do exactly what I say."
"Got it", the black haired girl said, taking off the metal panel and getting ready to work.
The two grunts walked around the laboratory slowly, their footsteps boomed due to the room being so quiet. May struggled to control her breathing, holding her hands over her mouth.
"I swear I saw this door open man. You know that nobody is supposed to enter the room besides the Doctor. The doctor left three hours ago!" One of the grunts said, convinced that somebody was trespassing. The other soldier sighed, before agreeing and continuing their search around the room.
Hearing that one of the grunt's footsteps was getting closer to her, May crawled on the floor, now moving away from the desk she was in previously. She stayed low to the ground, careful to be seen by the soldiers. She couldn't see much but could hear the grunt behind her getting closer. May turned the corner, crawling, before her head hit an unknown object. May looked up, her eyes widening and mouth opening when she saw the soldier staring down at her, glaring at her. May screamed, attempting to run away from the soldier. Whether it benefited her or not, her screams were not heard outside of the room due to the laboratory having soundproof walls. The soldier who she crawled in to grabbed her by the neck before throwing her to the ground. May hit the floor hard, banging her head against the floor. She felt the warm liquid of blood sliding down the side of her head now.
"Come over here Grant. I've got her!" The agent who threw her to the floor stated, walking slowly to where May was.
"Looks like you were right Andy!" The second agent laughed, walking towards her as well. The two soldiers picked her up roughly, ignoring May's pleas for help. May attempted to grab a pokeball from her belt before she was slapped by the guard and stripped of her belt, so she didn't have the chance to use any of her Pokemon. The Coordinator resisted as much as she could, but was dragged helplessly across the floor by the two guards. Suddenly, Kai appeared out of nowhere, dropping from one of the ceiling panels. Taking the guards by surprise, Kai threw a right hook at the soldier's face, breaking his jaw. The aura user then threw another punch at his chest, sending him backwards unconscious. The second soldier grabbed his tazer and thrusted it towards Kai. Sensing his movement from the beginning due to his aura, Kai caught his arm, twisting it and making the soldier drop his taser. The soldier winced due to his arm being twisted painfully.
May lay on the ground, watching Kai handle the soldiers, extremely relieved that he was able to come just in time. While a bit worried for the trainer's safety, she knew that Kai was easily able to handle two measly guards.
"Do you hear that dude?" Kai asked the soldier in a confused voice, looking around the room for the noise.
"Hear what?" The soldier squeaked out, his arm shaking due to still being twisted in a painful position. Suddenly, Kai twisted his arm sharply, completely breaking his arm. The solider screamed! Holding his broken arm with one hand, dropping to the floor.
"That." Kai simply said while glaring at the soldier for the injured May. Kai then swiftly kicked the soldier across the face, knocking him out instantly. May leaned up against the desk, still sitting on the floor. Kai bent down immediately in front of her, grabbing her face with both hands. Kai scanned her body and face for any more injuries besides the cut she had on her head.
"Are you ok May? Are you hurt? How bad is the cut? Do you need help? Kai sputtered out questions, freaking out that she could be hurt. May put one of her hands on his hand covering her cheek, shaking her head.
"I'm fine Kai. Thank you for saving me, Chosen One." May joked, smiling at Kai. Kai scoffed, before grabbing a bandage from one of his pockets and pressing it against the small cut.
"I've reached May, Seiya. She's safe. The guards here were taken care of and no one has been alerted to our knowledge." Kai spoke through the earpiece, waiting a second for an answer.
"That's great Kai but I need you to reach Sarah now. She's close to shutting down all communications and surveillance. Once she does that, there's a high chance that the soldiers will check out that room. You need to be there to help her when she shuts it all down." Seiya advised Kai, who attempted to refuse the order.
"I can't leave May. She's hurt and I can't let-" Kai was interrupted as May grabbed Kai's hands.
"It's ok, Kai. I'm fine I promise. Besides, I have my Pokemon with me in case something goes wrong." May told Kai, urging him to leave her.
"Now go." May told Kai, who nodded and rushed out of the room. Lucario had been waiting outside the room, silently taking down any grunts who made it too close to where May and Kai were. The two met up and sprinted towards the communications room while avoiding being spotted.
Sarah had just cut the final wire she needed to in order to shut down the system completely. It turned out she did this just in time, since a Chaos agent opened the door and was alarmed when he saw her. Without wasting any time, Sarah threw a pokeball and issued a command.
"Arcanine, use takedown!" Sarah ordered just as Arcanine appeared out of the pokeball, intimidating the Chaos agent. The Chaos agent turned around, attempting to sprint away. His efforts were futile as Arcanine caught up to him immediately before tackling him into the wall, making the agent no longer a threat. Dozens of soldiers appeared from the doors and second floor, releasing their Pokemon. While there were a good number of Chaos agents and Pokemon, the group no longer had to worry about acting stealthy since Communications were cut off inside the base. This meant that there would be no reinforcements or help arriving. Also, the base was completely cut off from communicating with other Chaos bases, leaving them stranded here. Sarah sent out her Vaporeon and Heracross to help aid her. While she considered herself a strong trainer, Sarah knew she was outnumbered severely. That was until aura spheres flew across the hallway, hitting a number of soldiers and their Pokemon. Kai and Lucario appeared through the hallway, wreaking havoc with their aura spheres. Still being heavily outnumbered, Kai sent out his Charizard, Ninjask, Floatzel, Sceptile, and Nidoking.
"You ok?" Kai asked Sarah with a tinge of worry in his voice. Sarah didn't take her eyes off the soldiers and their Pokemon while responding.
"Never better Kai."
Meanwhile, Silas sat facing the Eterna City base, watching all kinds of attacks appear through the windows. While any other person would be pacing and worried about what was occurring, Silas calmly watched the scene unfold, analyzing what was occurring. Silas stopped looking at the base when he heard the footsteps of a soldier to his left. Remaining hidden by the trees, Silas watched the soldier approach the van that Seiya was working in. Knowing that now was Silas's time to step in and intervene, the blue haired boy returned his Pokemon before sneaking up to the soldier. The teenager did not want to risk his Pokemon giving up his position. Besides, his Gastrodon and other Pokemon weren't exactly the definition of stealthy. Once Silas was right behind the soldier, he attempted a rear naked choke on the soldier, jumping onto his back while wrapping his arm around the soldier's neck in an attempt to choke him unconscious. While the boy was skilled in martial arts, the soldier was too big and strong for him, throwing him off his back and into the ground. Silas grunted on the floor, before getting up and assuming a fighting position. The boy remained calm, despite this being his first real fight. The soldier threw a punch towards Silas, who let the punch pass by him. He then grabbed the soldier's right arm and kneed the soldier in the stomach. While this strike hurt the soldier, it pissed him off more. The older man grabbed the young boy and headbutted him in the head, dazing Silas.
Silas took a few steps back, struggling to see clearly. When his vision was clear, Silas saw the soldier throwing an uppercut aimed toward his chin. Silas caught the arm of his opponent, twisting his arm behind his back, before kicking the man's leg. The soldier cried as he fell onto one knee. Not wanting to risk any more injury, Silas pinched a nerve in the man's neck, knocking him out. Training in the skill of martial arts with other monks had benefited him greatly.
The van's backdoor opened, alerting Silas and making him turn around. Seiya jumped out of the van with a shocked expression, before speaking.
"Silas, what the hell happened here?"
"The Chaos soldier spotted the van approximately five minutes ago. I assume he had realized that it was not one of theirs, considering he departed from his patrol route to investigate the van. I made the decision to leave my position to stop this threat from entering the van, since that would compromise your safety and the mission." Silas replied calmly, brushing some dirt off his pants. The two turned around when they heard the sound of Pokemon being released from their pokeball. Two Chaos agents stood facing the two teenagers. In front of the soldiers was a Golbat and a Mightyena.
Realizing that they were in danger, Silas sent out his Croagunk while Seiya sent out his Onix. The teenagers nodded at each other, preparing to battle the two soldiers. Silas was the one who issued the first command.
"Croagunk, use Poison Jab on Golbat!"
"Golbat use Air Slash." the soldier ordered to his Pokemon.
Croagunk rushed towards the bat Pokemon, with his fist glowing purple. He was unable to hit the enemy with Poison Jab however, as he was struck with Air Slash by the Golbat.
Seeing Silas's Pokemon get hurt, Seiya issued his own command. "Onix use rock slide on Golbat!" Onix sent out a flurry of rocks towards Golbat. While the majority of them missed, a few of them connected to Golbat, dealing massive damage since the flying type was weak to ground. Since Onix was attacking Golbat, however, he was vulnerable.
"Mightyena, use Flamethrower!"
Mightyena prepared Flamethrower, firing it from its mouth towards Seiya's Pokemon. It connected with the rock type, stopping its attack on Golbat and screeching in pain. Realizing that they were on the losing side of the battle, the teenagers knew they had to work together to win this. Seiya came up with an idea just then, issuing a command to his Onix.
"Onix, use Sandstorm to blind Golbat and Mightyena!" Seiya ordered Onix. Onix used sandstorm, sending sand flying in both the soldiers and Pokémon's eyes. The Pokemon were helpless, being blinded by the sand hitting their faces.
"Croagunk, use Poison Sting while they can't see!"
Croagunk used Poison Sting, firing many purple needles towards Golbat and Mightyena. The two Pokemon howled in pain, being struck by the small poisonous needles. Knowing they had to do something, the soldiers issued their own attacks.
"Mightyena, use Bite on Croagunk!" The soldier yelled to his Mightyena, becoming desperate. Barely able to see, Mightyena pushed through the sandstorm with his mouth open and glowing white.
"Onix, jump in front of Croagunk and use Harden!"
Onix used Harden just as he slid in front of the smaller Pokemon. Not having time to change the trajectory of its attack, Mightyena attempted to bite into Onix. The Pokemon howled in pain, miserably failing due to the extremely durable body armor it had. Due to Harden, it also made the Bite absolutely ineffective. Silas then took advantage of the opening Seiya had created, telling Croagunk to use Brick break on Mightyena. Croagunk jumped up, falling down into Mightyena with it's fist crashing into the Pokemon's back. Mightyena collapsed to the floor, unable to continue the battle. The second soldier cursed, realizing he was outnumbered now.
"Golbat, use Poison Fang!" The soldier commanded, which would be a horrible decision.
The Golbat rushed aimlessly at the two Pokemon. Onix and Croagunk remained still, waiting calmly for their trainer's orders.
"Onix, use Rock Slide!"
Croagunk, Slide Bomb."
Silas and Seiya's Pokemon fired their attacks, overwhelming the Golbat that had been flying towards them. The attacks crushed Golbat and made dirt explode from the ground, blinding them. When the dust settled, Golbat was fainted, underneath a pile of rocks. The two soldiers, knowing they were beaten, returned their Pokemon before sprinting the opposite direction, into the forest. Seiya was about to chase after them alongside Onix before Silas grabbed him by the shoulder, remaining composed.
"It's not worth it. You're needed by Kai and Sarah inside the Communications Van. We have bigger problems than two grunts right now." Silas said to Seiya, who agreed after a few seconds. The two teenagers entered the van. Silas watched Seiya sit back down in front of his computer, pulling up cameras revealing the scene inside the base.
Sceptile ran past the Houndour, using Leaf Blade effortlessly as he passed. The Houndour cried in pain, dropping to the floor, fainted. The third floor was covered with unconscious Chaos soldiers, Pokemon, and rubble. Kai and Sarah leaned against the wall, sliding onto the floor next to each other panting. They were absolutely exhausted. For the past ten minutes, their Pokemon had fought against waves of Chaos soldiers and their Pokemon. Even Lucario was now lying on the floor, panting loudly. While the two of them sat on the ground next to each other, gasping for air, Kai came to a realization. The teenager started laughing, earning him a confused look from Sarah and Lucario.
"We did it. We actually did it!" Kai screamed laughing. Lucario and Sarah smiled, realizing that they had completed their first mission under Project Giratina. They all laughed on the stone floor, celebrating with cheers and jokes. It definitely wasn't executed perfectly and there were a few bumps along the way. However, the group successfully overtook the Eterna base, now having access to important information that resided in the base. After a few minutes, Kai, Sarah, and Lucario regrouped with May and exited the base. They zip tied all Chaos agents, making sure they would be going nowhere until the Police arrived and detained them. The group met up with Seiya and Silas inside the van, screaming in celebration. The group hugged each other, not believing what they had just accomplished. Before leaving, Seiya returned to the computer after celebrating.
"Cynthia, this is Seiya, reporting from Eterna City. We have successfully overtaken the base, along with capturing the majority of the soldiers inside the base. Two soldiers managed to escape towards the forest, but they will most likely be found by the police if we reported this. Is there anything else?" Seiya asked through the earpiece, a small smile capturing his face.
"Negative, drive to the airport in Eterna City and we'll send a helicopter to bring you back to HQ. Great job you all. Get your asses back here safely!" Cynthia stated, before cutting off the line. Kai, Lucario, Sarah, May, and Silas sat at the back of the bus, ready to buckle up and make the drive to the airport with Seiya driving.
"Wait guys, I forgot something!" Kai said out loud, getting up and opening a cabinet underneath one of the seats. The aura user pulled out a bottle of champagne, turning slowly to show the group. Lucario grinned widely, liking the way this looked.
"Wait Kai, don't do it! My hair will be ruined-" Kai interrupted Sarah by popping the champagne bottle, drenching himself and everyone in the back of the van in celebration.
