Chapter 31! REVIEW and hope you all enjoy!

"Cynthia, I can't just put a hold on my responsibilities in Kanto and Johto. It's too much to ask from you." Lance said, shaking his head after speaking.

"I wouldn't be asking if the situation wasn't so serious. Chaos is the most dangerous organization that the world has seen in decades, maybe even centuries! You know how powerful they are, and they're not even located in your regions. Over the past few months since they have made their name known, their power has spread across the region." Cynthia explained passionately to the champion standing in front of her.

"Lance, I need your help on this. I need you and your resources in this fight against Chaos. Because if they succeed in their plans and summoning Giratina, they'll destroy your regions too. They're trying to destroy the whole world for Arceus's sake! You would think that you would be more willing to help, since Chaos affects all of us." Cynthia told the Dragon Master.

Lance was conflicted, not knowing what he should do. The trainer was the Champion of two regions. He had a long list of responsibilities that he had to uphold as Champion. However, there was a national emergency occurring in Sinnoh. Regardless of his responsibilities, this situation required his help, since it was much more urgent and important.

"Alright alright, fine Cynthia. I'll stay here in Sinnoh. You have my help, along with the connections I have. If I'm helping, though, I have one demand. You have to be completely honest with me about what's going on. I'm not going to be kept in the dark until the last second, when you require my attention. Clear?" Lance asked his friend, who agree and thanked the Champion.

"How bad is it?" Lance questioned his close friend. Cynthia lowered her head at this before responding.

"Really bad. I've gotten reports of so many Chaos bases around the region. It seems that their resources are vast and never ending. Their number of soldiers has just continued to multiply as time progressed. We still have no idea who's leading the organization, making it much harder to shut it down. Chaos is beginning to overwhelm us. They're strong, Lance."

"Any update on Kai?"

"Nothing. I think it's safe to say his tracker is not going to be of any help to us. The other Ghosts don't know, they're maintaining a false sense of hope at this. He could be dead right now. I do believe he's more likely to be alive. Chaos is most likely torturing him at this moment, attempting to force out any useful information about Project Giratina and other things that could help their mission." Cynthia said worriedly, knowing that the aura user was definitely in a bad position if he was still alive.

Lance rubbed his forehead after hearing the bad news. "Shit, this is really bad." Lance said to both himself and Cynthia.

"That's why we need you, Lance. Meet in the debriefing room in an hour. I'm bringing the rest of the team there. It's time I'm completely honest with them."

Every member of "The Ghosts" sat inside the debriefing room, waiting for Cynthia to arrive. They were all texted to meet in the room at 2:30pm. Currently, it was 2:25pm. The group was always early, with the obvious exception of Kai sometimes, due to not wanting to face Cynthia's wrath at being late to a meeting.

"Do you guys think that Cynthia's sending us on a mission already?" Seiya asked the group curiously.

"I don't think so. It's only been a day since you were able to convince her. Cynthia doesn't seem like the type of person to rush us into one so early." May responded to the boy.

"I agree with May. She most likely brought us here for another reason." Silas stated, having just woken up from somehow being asleep in the uncomfortable chair.

The group stopped speaking once they saw the door opening. Cynthia walked through as expected. However, the group wasn't expecting another Champion to walk through. Harley, Hilbert, Leaf, and Hilda's mouths opened slightly in surprise, having never seen Lance in person.

Cynthia and Lance walked to the front of the screen, facing the group of trainers. Cynthia was the first to speak.

"Hello everybody, I hope you are all doing well today. I'm sure you know him, but this is Lance, Champion of Kanto and Johto. Lance will be staying here for the foreseeable future, aiding us in taking down Chaos. Lance will be helping control things, along with providing valuable resources such as soldiers, funds, technology to aid us, and even his own personal help if he is needed." Cynthia introduced Lance, taking a step back to allow the fellow Champion to introduce himself.

"Thank you, Cynthia. It's nice to see some of you again and good to meet those that I haven't met before. While I won't be working closely with you guys, if there is anything you need, please feel free to reach out. I look forward to helping Project Giratina in their mission and am happy to be of service." Lance finished, bowing respectfully before letting Cynthia take over once again.

Harley kept an attentive face, showing his utmost attention and respect towards the two Champions. However, Lance's involvement was a red flag for Chaos. This was information that the Boss had to hear. Project Giratina just grew much stronger due to the help and resources the Champion of the two regions had to offer. This was bad news. Harley was lost in thought until Cynthia spoke once again.

"I also brought you all here for another reason. I want to come clean. Kai's tracker is still not working, and there's a very good chance it won't ever. I've used all of my connections and intel to find him, but to no avail. Project Giratina has no idea where Kai is. I'm telling you this because you deserve the truth. There is a decent chance that Kai is dead. There's an even large chance that he's alive but being tortured for intel." Cynthia told the group seriously, watching their reactions.

The group looked shocked and frustrated, some members like Hilbert gritting their teeth in frustration while the majority lowered their heads, hiding the tears forming in their eyes. It was extremely difficult to think about the possibility of their friend being killed or tortured. The group knew that Kai was a good person with an amazing heart. Members such as Seiya, Silas, and Harley didn't react much but appeared downcast after hearing Cynthia. It made sense, considering those three were the least emotional of the group.

Seeing their reactions, Cynthia continued. "This doesn't mean that we're just giving up. Over these next few days, we are going to do everything in our power to find him. Your group along with every ground team we have will be shutting down Chaos bases around the region while also searching for Kai. Tomorrow, you will be deployed to raid several bases, with the help of other members we will provide." Cynthia told the group.

The Ghosts would find Kai. Kai put his life on the line several times for them. He had already saved some of their asses already. It was time for them to return the favor.

Day 5

Chaos HQ

10:30PM

The member of Project Giratina was standing in the same position he had been for several days. His arms and legs felt like they were burning, due to his gruesome position of having to stand while his arms were chained above his head. After torturing him for the majority of the day, they put a black plastic bag over his head.

They had put the plastic bag over his head for two reasons. One, to blind him and make him slowly lose his mind, he assumed. The other was obvious. It was to hurt the boy some more, even when they weren't in the room.

The plastic bag was filled with very little air. Kai struggled to breath, only having a small amount of oxygen around his face. On top of that, the air was extremely hot. Kai was sweating furiously, the hot air suffocating him slowly.

The boy was still shirtless, cuts and bruises covering his body and face. The teenager was in a worse condition every day, being tortured constantly with little time to heal.

Although he couldn't see, Kai heard the sound of the metal door opening and closing. Before he could make a sarcastic joke that he would have come to regret, the plastic bag was ripped off his head. Immediately, the aura user took in deep breaths of air, relieved of the cool air around him. It felt absolutely spectacular.

Agent Nine, the beautiful and psychotic woman, had ripped the plastic bag off of him before standing against the wall, her hands knotted behind her. The Boss stood in front of Kai now, his arms crossed against his chest.

"You know how sick you guys are, right? Only idiots like you think that destroying the world we live in is a good idea. Hey everybody, let's just kill millions of people so we can recreate the world somehow with some banished legendary!" Kai said mockingly.

"Young man, you will never understand our mission. Like everyone else, you are blinded from the truth. It escapes you so easily, with you never able to grasp it." The boss stated firmly.

"So enlighten me." Kai responded casually. The boss paused for a few moments contemplating whether he should spend his time explaining his cause.

"How would you describe the world we live in today?" The older man asked, Kai looked at him confused before gathering himself.

"Bearable." Kai shrugged, at least as best as he could with his arms chained above him.

"I believe bearable would be a compliment. In fact, my view of the world is much worse than "bearable". The world is tainted. It's tainted with greed, corruption, and power in the wrong hands. There's so little you recognize about the world. When power is in the wrong hands, we simply look the other way and fail to realize just how wrong and corrupt their ways are." The boss explained before Kai questioned him once again.

"What the fuck are you talking? Who has misplaced power?" Kai asked again.

"Many. I'll spare you the time listing a bunch of names. Instead, I'll only list one. I'm sure your familiar with who Charles Goodshow is, correct?" The Boss questioned the teenager. Kai just nodded in response, curious with where the man was going with this.

"Charles Goodshow is one of the most powerful and respected people in the world. Being the President of the League Tournament Committee, Charles holds so much power. However, how do you think he got this title? Goodshow's life is a lie. Goodshow has convinced the population of the world that he became the President of the Committee through hard work and dedication. This couldn't be further from the truth. Instead, the older man earned this title from bribery, threats, and dirty moves in the political world. The man was corrupt and will always be corrupt. Yet, he still holds this title and power in the world, with no one correcting this mistake." The Boss told Kai, still not done with his explanation.

Kai's eyes widened slightly at hearing that Charles Goodshow was not the main he claimed to be. Kai's perception didn't change much, though, since he knew he couldn't trust what the older man had to say.

"Which leads me to my next point. No one has corrected these mistakes and corrupt actions that plague our world. The Pokemon Committee, Law enforcement, Champions of the Region, and other leaders can only do so much. However, what if there was someone who could. Or something?" Norman Shaw said rhetorically.

"Giratina is a legendary Pokemon that is misunderstood. While it craves power, it also upholds its most important ideal. Justice. Giratina is familiar with being misjudged and treated as less than. It was treated as an outsider by the God of Pokemon, Arceus. It resonates with Giratina. Giratina's wishes and Chaos's goals coincide perfectly with each other. Chaos wants to recreate the world and start over. Giratina seeks to rule the world. Along with this, Giratina wishes to be a ruler, establishing his authority and judgment across the world. This is EXACTLY what the world needs!" Norman yelled, waving his hands excitedly. Agent Nine stood behind him, not moving since she had entered the room, opting to look at the two and listen to their conversation.

"In the world we live in today, there is nobody fit to rule. No one has the power to implement justice and fairness. Giratina is the answer to this! With its immense amount of power, Giratina can not only recreate our world, but also rid it of its corruption and greed. It can maintain its innocence and fairness, being the ruler of it. Giratina would be the judge, jury, and executioner of the new world it would build. That right there Kai is our mission." The boss finished, grinning widely after explaining his cause.

Kai shook his head, laughing slightly. Nine raised her eyebrow seeing this, confused as to why the opposing teenager was laughing. Kai continued this for a few more seconds before staring at the Boss and speaking.

"That is INSANE. I knew you guys were crazy, but this is delusional! You're fucking deranged!" Kai shouted aggressively, unbelieving of how insane their plans were.

Chaos's Mission barely made any sense before. After hearing their real explanation from the leader himself, it sounded just as delusional! Giratina was a banished Pokemon who was a major threat to all living creatures. It was insanity to even think about releasing such a Pokemon into their world. However, it was even more insane to attempt to recreate the world. Obviously, their world isn't perfect. Nothing is, however! How the hell would they even recreate it using a legendary that most likely only craved power?

"On top of all of this, why would you trust Giratina to not destroy everyone and everything in the world. Giratina wouldn't recreate the world. He would simply destroy it, just like he tried to do centuries ago!" Kai thought to himself.

"I'm sorry to hear that from you, Kai. It's a shame that you'll die without fully recognizing the positive cause you died for. This is the last time we'll see each other. I've granted Agent Nine the permission to relocate you to another base, torturing you more until you give up the information you want. She will break you. Just like everyone else who has experienced what you currently are." The boss stated, his back facing Kai's face as he looked at his strong Agent.

"Fucking hell Cynthia, where the hell are you? You should have already traced my tracker and located me." Kai fearfully thought. A second after Kai had this thought, Agent Nine smirked at him, her suddenly pink eyes piercing through him.

"That tracker was destroyed the first day you came here. I had spotted it using my psychic powers almost immediately. The HQ contains several communications jammers for unrecognized devices. While the tracker would work as soon as you were to leave the base, it's now destroyed. Turns out, getting shocked for hours as a torture method does tend to harm electronic devices inside of you." Agent Nine said out loud smugly, not bothering to tell him mentally with her powers.

Kai's hopes of being rescued crashed suddenly. They had no idea where he was. The aura user had been hanging onto a false hope. That tracker was the only thing he had to be discovered. Without it, he was completely fucked.

Without realizing it, Kai screamed as loud as he could in frustration and anger. Due to finding out the tracker had been destroyed, along with the recent events in the past few days, Kai's emotions were flaring out. His scream was only a small indication of the anger and pain he was feeling.

After screaming loudly for a few seconds, the aura user stopped, panting and glaring at Nine and the Boss. Special Agent Nine smiled widely, witnessing Kai's breakdown. Kai's breakdown was the first indication that the boy was breaking. He could already be broken now. One thing was certain. Kai was slowly falling off the cliff, barely hanging onto the ledge with his hands.
