Chapter 32 everybody! REVIEW and hope you all enjoy it. I'd love to hear your guys's feedback and comments on how the story is going so far. Personally, I'm not happy with the way some chapters and storylines have come out. Although I do feel like I'm improving my writing a little bit at least. Anyways, here is the newest chapter!
May, Sarah, Hilda, and Leaf all sat inside the pool, a luxury area inside HQ. The pool area consisted of a large rectangular pool, with beach chairs and benches surrounding it. The girls were currently relaxing in their bikinis, after going over their first debriefing in preparation for their mission later today. The guys had decided that they would hang out and play video games, which would have bored the girls to death.
The girls stood inside the cool water, talking about their upcoming mission and Kai's health.
"I really hope Kai is ok. If we don't find him, I don't know what I'm going to do." Leaf said, feeling partially responsible for Kai.
Noticing Leaf's sullen mood change, May placed a hand on the brunette's shoulder, hoping to comfort her. "Don't worry Leaf, we'll find him." The Coordinator replied.
"Yeah, we shouldn't all worry so much. Kai is way too stubborn to die." Sarah commented about Kai's personality. It was true. The boy did have a stubborn and persistent nature. While it was a bitch much of the time, it was also not necessarily a bad trait.
"He's also probably annoying the hell out of Chaos anyways." Hilda joked, laughing with the other girls as they got out of the pool together. They then laid down on their own beach chaise, continuing to chat.
"I can't believe that guy is single. How?" Leaf asked the girls, staring up at the roof in thought about the black-haired teenager.
"Looks like you're happy about it, Leaf." Hilda remarked, with Leaf blushing slightly while Sarah narrowed her eyes towards Leaf. After a second, Leaf shrugged her shoulders, sitting up to get a better look at the other girls.
"Don't act like he's not the hottest guy you've seen in your life." Leaf stated, earning a raised eyebrow from Hilda while May laughed at this. Kai was definitely good looking, but Leaf's statement was a bit of an exaggeration.
May shook her head smiling, before responding. "Ok, did you drink liquor before this? Because "ever" is a bit of an overstatement."
"Unfortunately, I'm going to have to agree with May. Kai's cute and attractive, but he's not ALL that. Also, I thought you were into him, May." Hilda said, with a mix of disbelief and uncertainty.
"I don't know. I think I've given up trying to be with him. It's obvious he doesn't like me back. Looks like it's just you Leaf.." May said, admitting her fondness towards the aura user.
Sarah bowed her head slightly, drawing the attention of the others. "Ok, I may like him too." Sarah stated, thinking that her reactions and feelings weren't apparent.
Hilda, May, and Leaf laughed at the black-haired girl. It was so obvious that she had feelings for the boy. They had to be completely blind in order not to see it. They were interrupted from laughing after hearing a boy's voice behind them.
"Really Sarah? I had no idea!" Hilbert yelled sarcastically, receiving a glare from Sarah immediately. "Girls this is bullshit. Why don't any of you like me? I'm not too bad, right?" Hilbert expressed in a jealous manner. Hilbert yelled in surprise, falling onto the floor as he dodged several drinks thrown by the girls.
Agent Steel sat in a chair, holding one of his knives. The extremely built soldier was currently sharpening the knife, a common hobby for him. The tall, bald-headed agent was currently in an underground bunker, courteously provided by Chaos. Steel and his group were currently laying low, three weeks after initially stealing one of the necklaces.
Steel rose up from his chair, walking through one of the bunker's main rooms. There, tens of soldiers sat, doing various things to pass time such as playing cards or simply talking amongst each other.
The talented agent for Chaos was slowly getting more impatient every day. They were unable to leave the bunker with the necklace until the Boss gave the order. The soldiers understood, since it would be almost impossible with how many police and militia members patrolled the area. However, it didn't mean that the soldiers liked sitting around and doing nothing.
Once again, Agent Steel sat down, this time at his personal desk. The agent had a lot more work to do in preparation to leave, and they could never be too ready. They knew that they would be facing heavy opposition, no matter how long they waited in the bunker. Agent Steel was interrupted from his work when another soldier approached him.
"Excuse me, sir. Harley would like to talk to you. He says it's urgent." The small and lean soldier said. Steel grunted in annoyance, before reluctantly grabbing the phone from the smaller soldier's hand.
"What do you want, Harley? I'm busy." Agent Steel replied in a gruff tone. The two of them didn't get along much, much less talk with each other. They were two completely different people. Agent Steel specialized more in "brawns" while Harley was more of a "brain".
"Sorry Mr. Steel, I just wanted to remind you about something. I'm sure you heard from Boss that it's my responsibility to extract the third piece of the necklace from Project Giratina. Due to this, it is very crucial that you warn me a few hours before you plan to depart with your piece of the necklace. The timing has to work." Harley stated over the phone, having a calm and composed voice due to speaking with a respected member of the organization.
Harley was well aware of who Special Agent Steel was in the organization. Steel was one of the most dangerous and respected individuals in Chaos. If there was a ranking of the most powerful members of Chaos, Steel would most likely be second, with Agent Nine being first. Rumors spread about events that occurred on missions all the time. Harley was not a stranger to hearing these rumors. Let's just say that Steel was an extremely brutal soldier, willing to do whatever it took to complete a mission.
Harley even thought that calling Steel a soldier was an insult. The jacked man was a "super soldier". The Agent of Chaos didn't even have unusual powers such as being an aura user like Kai, yet he was able to best him in their latest encounter in Snowpoint City. It was impressive to say the least.
"I'll let you know beforehand, kid. Don't fuck it up." The older man replied in his husky voice before hanging up the phone. Harley sighed, putting the phone down while he sat in his room alone. Harley was in his twenties and definitely not a kid, but he doubted Steel gave a shit regardless. The boys had split up ten minutes ago after hanging out in the suite for a while. Now, Harley sat inside of his room, preparing for how he would steal the necklace before departing from Project Giratina altogether. It would be risky, but after all, Harley never backed down from a challenge.
The room was very similar to the one Kai resided in at Chaos's HQ. They had transported him yesterday, putting a bag over his head and knocking him unconscious before moving him. Before leaving, the Boss had explained that he was now in Agent Nine's hands, telling Kai that she would break him. "What a prick." Kai thought, thinking about both the Boss and Nine.
Once again, Kai stood on the floor, his legs shackled together while his hands were chained to the roof. Kai was shirtless, showing off his poor condition. At least they had been feeding him and giving him water for the past few days since he had been captured. It wasn't much, but it was enough.
However, Kai's condition was slowly deteriorating each day. Some of his cuts were still open, requiring stitches. There was a high possibility one of them, or even several, could be infected. That would be extremely bad. Surprisingly, Nine or any soldiers hadn't entered the room since he woke up in it.
The metal door opened, with the violet haired woman entering without her mask, showing off her figure in casual jeans and a crop top. The woman also didn't have her mask on, her gray eyes directed towards Kai as she smiled slightly as she entered. "You've got to be kidding me." Kai whispered quietly, not believing he had just jinxed it.
"How's my pet doing today?" Nine asked, caressing the boy's hair with one hand while Kai couldn't do anything about it.
Kai made a disgusted face when hearing Nine. "Gross… Seriously lady, you have problems." Kai told the tall agent.
Nine simply smiled at Kai's words, trailing her hand down Kai's cheek before stepping away. She walked back to the door, opening it once again to pull in a large tray filled to the brim with items. The items consisted of a wrench, scalpels, screw drivers, pliers, brass knuckles, a variety of knives, and a branding iron.
"You need help with construction?" Kai asked, really hoping that those tools wouldn't be used for what he thought they would be. Nine shook her head, wagging her finger back and forth. "I'm afraid not, young man. We're going to play a game." Nine replied seriously.
Kai groaned loudly, his head falling backwards in annoyance. Things really couldn't get much worse. Without his tracker, Kai was lost at a random Chaos base, with no help and getting tortured daily. In other words, he was living the life.
"Are you ready for the game, Kai? Here's how it works. I'm going to torture you with these tools. However, I will allow you to pick whichever tool you'd prefer each time we start a round. Clear?" Nine asked, even though the teenager had no say in it.
"Wow that's actually kind of nice of you, letting me pick. I was beginning to think you were always on your period." Kai insulted the violet haired woman, who reacted this time. Rather than smiling like she had before, Agent Nine glared at Kai. Yep, that comment definitely pissed her off. Nine continued to glare at Kai while he looked at the tray of tools.
"Well, they all suck." Kai thought as he peered at the weapons. The aura user was beginning to lean towards the wrench. The black-haired teenager already had enough cuts as it was. He really couldn't afford much more. Besides, he'd take some bruises and maybe a broken bone from a wrench rather than a saw cutting through him. It was common sense, not rocket science.
"Fuck my life… I pick the wrench." Kai stated in defeat, glaring at the wrench and Nine. Nine smiled, shrugging her shoulders at Kai's decision. "Ok, sure!" Agent Nine said happily, confusing the boy. Nine then took a few steps towards the tray, now standing in front of it. Weirdly, Nine then grabbed a kitchen knife, walking back towards Kai.
Kai's face whitened at this, realizing what Nine was doing. "Idiot!" Kai cursed at himself internally, knowing Nine's game plan. The girl was sick. Obviously, she wouldn't do what Kai wanted. Whatever Kai would pick, she would ignore and pick something of her own. However, Kai's face drained of color even more once another thought popped up.
Crap… Kai had completely forgotten that the woman was psychic. She had most likely just picked the weapon Kai had not wanted the most. Of course, she had. The boy needed to be smarter. "Honestly, fuck Agent Nine." Kai thought.
"Wow, you're a prick. I bet you get off to this." Kai said to Agent Nine.
In response, Agent Nine simply walked in front of the boy and stood in front of him. The violet haired woman, who was the same height as Kai, crouched down and pressed the knife against Kai's leg, only drawing a small drop of blood.
Kai gritted his teeth in preparation for the knife to cut his leg. However, he was confused when Nine peered up at him, her eyes glowing pink.
"Are you going to give in to Chaos? Kai, I don't want any information from you. It's clear that you either aren't willing to give it up, or you simply don't know anything. Join us and I'll make it stop. No torturing. You will be my personal servant and warrior." Agent Nine told Kai telepathically, being completely serious with her proposition. Kai widened his eyes at her proposition, after hearing that she was offering him a job in Chaos. She really couldn't be fucking serious. Hell no!
"What the hell changed? I thought all this "breaking me" was to get me to give up information." Kai said, tightening his jaw while looking down at the girl. Nine rose from her position, her face now aligned with Kai's.
"Well, I thought to myself. Why would I settle for some decent information from you? I'm Special Agent Nine, the most important and powerful member of this organization. It's below me." Nine said, pacing around Kai in a circle while continuing to speak.
"Then, I thought to myself. What if we got you to join us instead? We would be unstoppable. A psychic and an aura user. It would shake the region's core from our sheer strength. It would also be a much more impressive feat to show to the Boss. Kai, the aura user and talk of Sinnoh in the news, serving Chaos as my little pet. You would be beneath me, Kai. But you wouldn't be a prisoner like you are now, getting tortured every day. Now, choose wisely." Nine finished, pressing the knife against Kai's leg once again.
Kai didn't have to think long before responding to the Chaos Agent's proposal. Kai would be damned if he sold out as not only a servant but to a criminal organization and pledged his allegiance to them.
"Sorry, hard pass lady. Besides, I'd never give you the satisfaction of working beneath you. I know you have some superiority complex but trust me, you're not special. I've seen Psyducks brighter than you are." Kai said, smirking at his response while seeing Nine shake her head in anger at being turned down. Kai's smirk faded instantly when Agent Nine jabbed the knife into Kai's leg, holding it there as it sunk into his flesh.
Kai screamed in pain before gritting his teeth, heaving out quick breaths to steady himself. Nine held the knife there for a few seconds before ripping it back out, blood steadily flowing out of the open wound. Kai continued to breath heavily, the knife wound burning extremely and causing a great amount of pain.
"Wrong answer, handsome. Now, let's continue with the game. What…Fucking….Weapon?" Nine asked the teenager in a dark tone, glaring at him in the process.
Kai was still trying to compose himself as he stared at the weapons rack. If Nine wasn't going to pick a weapon that he asked for, then he might as well pick the most painful one. At least he wouldn't have to suffer through that one. After thinking for a few seconds, Kai had reached his answer.
"Brass knuckles." Kai grunted out, the knife wound still aching tremendously. At least she wouldn't choose brass knuckles, since he had just asked for it. Nine shook her head, however, picking up the brass knuckles and placing them onto both hands. Kai was about to shout in confusion and frustration before Nine spoke telepathically once again.
"Psychic powers, idiot. Arceus, I thought you had it figured out."
Kai facepalmed mentally, barely believing the stupidity he showed in that moment. The Pokemon prodigy was better than that. Unfortunately, Kai was unable to dwell on his mistake since Nine wasted no time using the brass knuckles. She swung forcefully, packing a powerful punch as she connected across Kai's face and stomach. Kai grunted in pain, with some moans of pain escaping by accident.
Nine grinned wildly as she continued to beat the defenseless teenager. She used her psychic powers to provide extra strength, focusing her powers on her hands as she struck down Kai. After a few minutes, Nine finished by striking Kai across the face for one last time. Kai's head swung to the left, blood splattering across the wall and floor due to the powerful punch.
"Fuck…You." Kai gasped, spitting more blood that was accumulating his bloody mouth. Nine shook her head disappointingly before speaking.
"Since, you're not interested, guess I'm just going to have to hurt you more." Nine shrugged, before standing in front of Kai's shirtless form. She then placed a hand against the side of his head, Kai's eyes widening at what she was doing.
All of a sudden, Kai's mind was plagued with horrible images and feelings. His mind felt like it was set ablaze, burning with pain and raw emotion. Kai screamed echoed throughout the empty, dirty room. It was the loudest he had screamed so far since being captured. It was also the first time he couldn't prevent himself from stopping.
Agent Nine's eyes glowed pink as she played with Kai's mind, forcing him to see and feel horrible scenarios. It was pure torture, in its most raw and lethal form. Kai could handle the abuse to his body. He was used to it. The teenager was also trained to handle it by Lucario, along with Project Giratina. Yet, it was impossible for Cynthia and her organization to think that this situation would arise. After all, it was definitely a rarity for somebody to be tortured by a Psychic User.
Nine smirked, torturing Kai for the first time mentally. She was also doing a decent job, considering the boy's body and mind were quite weak. They were wearing him down.
'This is the breaking point.' Nine thought, sweating furiously due to the effort she was putting in. Using her psychic powers put a lot of strain on her body. Drops of sweat were apparent on her uncovered face as she gritted her teeth. Kai was still screaming loudly, sweating across his face and bare upper body.
Nine felt close to collapsing, her psychic powers starting to waver. However, she also felt so close to doing her job. She felt Kai's mental walls breaking, like a glass window getting hit repeatedly. This motivated her to keep going, despite feeling nauseous and her legs bucking underneath her.
Kai was struggling desperately. His mind felt like it was completely shattering. It was obvious that Nine had entered his mind, causing massive pain and feelings to overload his consciousness. While he didn't have much control over what was going on, he did feel like he was able to slightly resist her efforts.
Their mental battle continued for a few minutes in total. Finally, Nine dropped onto the floor, resting on her knees while her nose bled. Both were panting heavily, Kai relieved that the pain had finally stopped, most likely due to his refusal to give in. Nine dragged herself to the wall of the room, leaning against it while still sitting. Kai stood straight, due to his hands still being shackled above him.
Nine felt so nauseous, on the verge of falling unconscious. Realizing this, she called for what Kai assumed to be two grunts to help her out of the room. She did appear to be in a tired and broken state.
"You're special, Kai. Your will is unlike anything I've seen." Nine said surprisingly, looking at the black-haired boy in front of her.
"No shit."
"It's breakable, though. You felt it just like I did. You were so close to breaking that it scares you."
"What do you want, a cookie? Stop searching for my approval." Kai shot back, hoping to strike another nerve.
"Keep lashing out, handsome. It's just you and me here. You do realize your friends won't be coming, right?"
Kai closed his eyes shut at this, attempting to block her out. His efforts were futile. Her words struck a nerve of his, making him enraged.
Kai wasn't enraged at Nine. Or Chaos. The teenager was enraged at Cynthia. At Project Giratina. He had been held hostage with Chaos for over a week! It could be over two fucking weeks! Kai didn't have any idea, because there was no way to keep track of the damn time, especially while you're being held in an empty room 24/7!
"Why are you doing it? You don't believe in the stupid shit they're selling. I can tell. So why?"
Nine looked up to the roof, contemplating her response for a few seconds.
"You're right. I'm not sure I do believe in it. Their goal isn't why I'm here though."
Kai rolled his eyes, less than pleased with the answer. The violet haired woman had just dodged his question basically.
"You didn't answer my question…"
"I'll leave that up to you to figure out, handsome. Besides, you've got nothing to do here but think. I will tell you why everyone else is part of Chaos." Nine said, looking at Kai to see if he was listening. The heavily injured teenager was listening, making eye contact with her. "Everyone's reasons differ. However, there are a few main reasons. The Boss is a rich man. It's obvious he is, considering he's the leader of a whole organization. He literally has to be. The Boss offers a variety of perks to grunts, agents, and members of the organization. These perks are money, protection from police, mobs, or others, and the most important one. Which are jobs. Everyone here is money hungry. This a pretty good gig for it."
Kai was silent, taking in her words. It made sense, and he doubted she was bullshitting him. The teenager was interrupted from his thoughts when the metal door opened. Two unfamiliar grunts dressed in black gear walked in, one of them carrying a stretcher.
One of the grunts attempted to help pick up Nine. Nine pushed the grunt off of her, refusing to let him help her up. Struggling heavily, the tall woman was able to push herself up and fall onto the stretcher. She glared at Kai, him returning her stare as the metal door closed, separating the two.
