(Music playing) The elements of the Phantomrangers dance around the screen while the Phantom Medals fall to the ground.
(1, 2, 1, 2, 3, go) The Phantom Medals hit the ground and revealed the words Spirit Sentai Phantomranger written in the elements and colors of each Phantomranger.
(How does it feel at the bottom of the barrel) Casey is in the library of her college with many papers scattered on the table in front of her. She then sighs and leans back in annoyance.
(All your friends don't care, no your friends don't care at all) Jason is at a skatepark failing to perform a trick and hurting himself. A group of people laughed at Jason and he hit the ground in frustration.
(How does it feel at the bottom of the barrel) Axis and Kizu are at their job finishing up cleaning when someone makes a big mess. Axis pinched the bridge of his nose while Kizu frowned.
(All your friends don't care, no your friends don't care at all) Paul B walked alone on the sidewalk, no one taking notice of him or acknowledging he was there.
(Rejected, rejected. You're never gonna be the one respected) Each Phantomranger is shown looking at their Spirit Changer with either sadness or unease.
(Infected, infected. This is the way that every life has ended) Each Phantomranger looked up to see Ben standing in front of them with a smirk.
(No, no! This life will swallow you whole!) Each Phantomranger gained determined looks before they all appeared side by side looking forward at three people.
(No, no! This life will swallow you whole!) The three people were revealed to be Kou, Corvus, and Xiya. The Phantomrangers readied themselves then put their Phantom medals into their Spirit Changers.
(If I could set the clocks back, I wouldn't be heading for a body bag) BluePhantom kicked two Husks then she shot three that were charging towards her. GreenPhantom flew around on his hoverboard, hitting several husks along the way.
(One life and one decision, make sure it ends with you still living) RedPhantom slashes two husks then shoots energy arrows at three husks that were about to attack both GreenPhantom and BluePhantom.
(Feel like I'm on the fast track to laying face down from a heart attack) YellowPhantom cut down several Husks then he punched one across the face. PinkPhantom kicked two Husks then he fell down and was about to be hit by a Husks. YellowPhantom moved to help PinkPhantom but couldn't due to having to fight another Husks
(One life and one decision, make sure it ends with you still living) RedPhantom slashed the Husks then helped PinkPhantom stand up. Yellow, Green, and BluePhantom regrouped with the two then the group looked forward.
(Make sure it ends with you still living) Kou, Corvus, and Xiya stood in front of the group with an army of Husks behind them.
(Music plays) The Phantomrangers readied their weapons then charged at the army. The trio of villains charged at the Phantomrangers. RedPhantom then slashed at the trio.
(Make sure it ends with you still living!) The screen then shows the title Spirit Sentai Phantomranger in the Phantomrangers elements and colors.
RedPhantom was in the cockpit of the Agni Phantombeast and he was freaking out from excitement then he composed himself and said,"Okay let's do this. How do I drive this thing?"
"It'll come naturally.",Ben said from RedPhantom's Spirit Changer. RedPhantom nodded, then he took hold of the controls and readied himself. The Agni Phantombeast roared then flew towards the Axe Specter. (Author's note: Forgot to say this in the last chapter but the best way to imagine what the Agni Phantombeast looks like is to say Dragrenzer from Kamen Rider ryuki except with less of a knight theme to it.)
The Axe Specter swung its axe hand at the Phantombeast but it slithered through the air, easily dodging the swings of the axe. The Agni Phantombeast then flew straight up then came back down firing fireballs from its mouth. The Axe Specter grunted, stumbling around as the Agni Phantombeast managed to get in close and slash it with its claws.
Nearby, The Daemons watched the Agni Phantombeast and the Axe Specter fight with Xiya and Corvus having looks of intrigue while Kou still looked stoically at the situation. Corvus rubbed his chin saying,"How strange, I'd assumed they had no way to combat a giant Specter but I have been proven wrong."
"I wanna fight em, I wanna fight em right now.",Xiya said eagerly.
"Patience is a virtue, Xiya. We are still seeing if any of them could become a Daemon remember.",Corvus said while putting his cane in front of Xiya. Xiya groaned, then mockingly said,"Okay Corvus. You're no fun."
Corvus ignored Xiya and just watched the fight with Kou doing the same.
The Agni Phantombeast avoided three more slashes then rammed into the Axe Specter while igniting itself on fire, destroying the Axe Specter. BluePhantom and GreenPhantom celebrated the defeat of the Axe Specter as The Agni Phantombeast flew down to them and disappeared with RedPhantom landing in front of them.
"Dude, that was awesome!"GreenPhantom said with excitement.
"I know right and I somehow already knew how to fly it. Being a Phantomranger is so cool!",RedPhantom exclaimed happily.
"Hey!"RedPhantom, BluePhantom and GreenPhantom heard come from behind them, resulting in them facing that direction. The trio saw Axis holding a sleeping Kizu bridal style with Kizu's head being on Axis's chest.
"Keep it down, Kizu's trying to sleep.",Axis said authoritatively. RedPhantom, BluePhantom and GreenPhantom reverted to their civilian forms then Casey asked,"Kizu fell asleep?"
"Yeah, I think whatever he did to heal me took a lot out of him.",Axis said, looking at Kizu with a caring eye. Paul B nodded, then he said,"Well anyway, we should tell Ben about those three that appeared."
"For once we agree on something."Casey said with a small smile.
"It's okay, I heard everything. I'd like you all to stay alert wherever you go now that the Daemons have made themselves known.",Ben said from Paul B's Spirit Changer.
"Can do."Casey said. She and the others then went their separate ways with Axis carrying Kizu in his arms.
Later on that evening at Casey and Paul B's dorm, Casey was doing an assignment when Paul B came out of the bathroom with only a pair of boxers on drying his hair. Casey looked up and said,"Ew, Paul!"
"Yeah?",Paul B said while finishing drying his hair.
"Put on some clothes.",Casey said insistently.
"Why? I'm relaxing and I just got out the shower.",Paul B said casually. Casey gave him a somewhat angered look and he went over to his drawer and put on a pair of shorts and a tank top. Casey thanked Paul B then went back to her work while Paul B laid on his bed and began doing something on his phone. Casey put down her pen then she looked at Paul,"Hey Paul."
Paul turned his attention to Casey. Casey let out a deep breath before saying,"When we saw the Daemons today, did you feel different at all?"
"What do you mean?",Paul B asked while sitting up.
"I mean when we saw them and they talked; did you feel like they weren't human? Like I know they looked human but it felt like, I don't know how to describe it."Casey said, her voice sounding fearful. Paul B thought about it and said,"Now that you mention it, I did get this weird heavy feeling around them. It was like just being in their presence made my body lock up."
Casey gulped fearfully at what Paul B said, her face showing fear.
"But, I think that if it came down to it. We'd be able to take those guys."Paul B said, his usual smile and demeanor returning.
"I don't think so.",Casey said.
"Why not?"Paul B asked.
"Because we've only been Phantomrangers for about a week or so and those Daemon guys are apparently the ones making Specters. That's enough of an indicator to me that they're on a whole different level.",Casey explained.
"I still think we could beat them. Not just because we have to in order to keep people safe, but because I trust in you and the others. As long as we work together and keep training, we'll win."Paul B said with conviction. Casey looked at Paul B with admiration then she smiled and nodded. The two then began a conversation about anything that came to mind, both enjoying the other's company,
The next day at Ben's home, the Phantomrangers were sitting on the porch while Ben was pacing back and forth in front of them. Casey sighed then she asked,"Ben, why are you pacing?"
"Because I'm trying to think of a way to teach you guys about the combination technique,"Ben said.
"Combination technique?"Paul B and Jason questioned at the same time.
"Yes, each of you can summon a Phantombeast like Paul did yesterday. With that you all can combine your Phantombeast into one but I just don't know how to teach it to you all.",Ben said, stopping his pacing briefly.
"Wouldn't that be as easy as saying a word?"Axis questioned.
"Not necessarily. See, your Phantombeast are essentially your spirits made into physical form and combining all of them together would connect you all to one another. This would put a strain on all of you and it's also never been done before.",Ben explained. The Phantomrangers gained contemplative expressions then Jason said,"Well that's not all too uplifting."
"I know but it is true. There's the fact that the Daemons have shown themselves to you and that can't be good.",Ben said. He then lifted his head before saying,"Oh, this is not good."
"What's not good?",Paul B asked with concern.
"I am sensing a Specter nearby and it's a rather big one. I'll send you all to it now but be careful."Ben said before snapping his fingers, making the Phantomrangers disappear from where they were.
The Phantomrangers appeared on the sidewalk of a street and Jason was going to speak but ended up running to a nearby trashcan and throwing up in it. Axis had to bend down and regain his footing before saying,"I really hate teleporting or whatever Ben does that makes us appear in places."
"Same here.",Jason said before throwing up once more. Casey and Paul B gathered their bearings then they turned around to see that they were in front of a two story house. Paul B raised an eyebrow then said,"A house? I thought Ben said there was a Specter near?"
"Paul,"Casey said while looking at Paul B. "The Specter is probably inside the house."
Paul B nodded while letting out a noise of realization. Casey sighed then she looked at the house and put her hands on her hips while saying,"Wonder what this one's gonna be."
"Eh, probably an object based Specter or maybe something like a spider Specter."Paul B said while crossing his arms. Kizu gained a fearful expression and he said,"Kumo ga kowai."
"You're afraid of spiders?"Paul B questioned while he and Casey turned to Kizu, who helped Axis stand up. Kizu nodded, then Axis said,"He got bit by one a few years ago and has been afraid ever since."
"Yeah it was a big one too.",Jason said, putting a piece of gum into his mouth. Jason, Kizu, and Axis then looked at the house and Jason said,"Huh, that's a creepy lookin house. Do we have to go in there?"
"Don't be a chicken, Jason. It's just a house with a Specter in it.",Axis said while teasingly hitting Jason with his elbow.
"I know that, but I'm getting some weird vibes just from looking at it. Like there's more to this."Jason said.
"Even if you're right, we have to go in and deal with the Specter so other people can be safe."Paul B said before he began walking towards the house. Casey and the others followed Paul B to the house with the five of them eventually entering it.
