Fantastic, I got my first job~
Meh? Well I'm autistic and change is stressful, so I'm doing one last update for each story (on their update day) (Excluding His Magic because it's fully posted on Wattpad) then taking a maximum of a month vacation from posting.

This is to prevent me from being pressured to write when I don't want to, which will turn out poorer quality chapters

I've been good, consistent, and have yet to miss an update since I've entered this fandom... So vacation maximum of 1 month is deserved ~

I'm just being cautious, it's my FIRST job

Lapin looked down at himself with relief, he was no longer wearing Kaito's coat, instead he was wearing a generic yellow was one that actually fit him. He quickly folded up Kaito's coat and headed outside "I don't want to wear that ever again" Lapin stated as he handed the magician the coat.

Kaito just grinned "You're no fun" He contemplated putting the coat on for a few moments before shifting himself forwards to put it on. He was already too wet for it to make any difference but he might be able to dry off a bit by the time they got back. That wouldn't stop him from having the smell of soggy clothes clinging to him.

"If you say so" Lapin replied, pausing when a scream filled the air. Seconds later he felt himself being lifted into the air.

"It's too soon for you to start showing up at crime scenes" Kaito scolded. He was lucky that the tiny sleuth had been standing right next to him, otherwise he wouldn't have been able to grab him in time.

Lapin blinked, he hadn't even realized that he'd started to run "It's a force of habit" He breathed, avoiding the other's gaze "Can you put me down now?" Sure he could kick Kaito, but that didn't feel right.

Kaito raised brow, eyeing Lapin with suspicion "Are you going to run off to the crime scene if I do?" He did not want Lapin to mess up their carefully crafted cover "The police in Edoka are less likely to just claim suicide than the ones in Beika" Kaito stated "I've helped them become more open minded"

Azure blinked "How did you manage that?" He's been trying to get the Beika police to stop claiming suicide for a good while now.

"I taught them some magic tricks and showed them a few things that needed more that a simple look to understand" Kaito answered, gently putting Lapin down now that the other wasn't primed to run off. He didn't care for magic anymore, but it helped widen one's perspective about things Kaito smiled "I've made them quite good at thinking outside the box"

"Oh" No wonder the other had had more success than him, he hadn't thought about using magic.

Kaito nodded then checked the time "We need to hurry or we'll miss the next bus" The two quickly made their way to the bus stop, just in time. Kaito easily noted that Lapin seemed to be a bit fidgety during the ride. He waited until they exited the bus to voice his thoughts "So why have you become all fidgety?" It seemed odd. From what he knew, the sleuth wasn't one to be fidgety without a good reason.

Lapin frowned "I feel weird just walking away from a potential murder scene" He'd never done that before. He'd always drop what he was doing and run over to help. Just walking away, it felt so strange, he didn't like it.

"I see..." Kaito could understand where Lapin was coming from, running off towards every scream had been a large part of the other's life. He hummed in thought "After my appointment tomorrow, why don't I take you to the station to introduce you?" It was early, way too early for his own liking. He could tell that it was important to Lapin though "The Edoka police are less familiar with Conan than the Beika police" Indigos softened "I even mentioned you in a few group chats" He'd played the role of excited older brother at the discovery of his younger brother Kuroba Lapin "We don't have to pretend that we know a lot about each other"

"I thought that me joining you at the station so soon would be a bad idea..." Lapin countered.

"It is" Kaito agreed "But I probably won't be able to grab you in time every time there's a scream. So it's better for us to already have your existence somewhat established in their heads" A compromise. Kaito made sure to meet Lapin's gaze as he spoke the next bit "You're not going anywhere near Beika for a long long time" Shinichi being replaced by Conan, then Conan being replaced by Lapin? Yeah, he didn't want to deal with stuff like that.

Lapin wilted a bit, but nodded in agreement "That makes sense" He suddenly grimaced "I'm not going to have to go to school again am I?"

Kaito snickered "No, I'm mostly homeschooled and you will be too"

"Mostly?"

"I've taken all the tests and graduated already, I only show up once in a while for socialization" Kaito offered a shrug, I've got papers and medical files that say I should occasionally hang out with those my own age" Danashi had made it somewhat mandatory because his past isolation hadn't been healthy. Going to class once in a while was fun, but he'd rather not go every day.

Lapin let out an relieved breath, shoulders relaxing "Thank god... That kiddy school was horrible" He'd been constantly pestered by a group of children and being forced to speak like a child had been terrible.

"I can only imagine" Going to regular school was boring since he'd already learned everything in the curriculum. Indigos gleamed "At least this time around you'll be labelled as a child prodigy, a greater one than I was since you're physically younger" Having two geniuses in a family wasn't too strange.

"If I tried to do that as Conan, I probably would have gotten caught" Lapin sighed.

"Oh definitely" Kaito nodded "Mouri-chan could have had your fingerprints run at any time and then you'd all be dead. It's a good thing I switched up your fingerprints in the database" Kaito paused "And the Mouris won a total deep clean for their entire apartment and agency so all traces of your DNA should be gone from there"

"Oh wow" Lapin blinked "That's thorough"

"I'm still wondering how I should erase your DNA from your house" Kaito sighed "Randomly doing it would be suspicious if someone checked..." Like Lapin's father for instance "And I doubt staging an electrical fire would make you happy"

Azure widened, okay, that was extreme.

"How attached are you to that house?" Kaito inquired "I could burn it so bad that nobody would notice if stuff was removed beforehand"
