"Gah!" Lapin clutched his face, nose bloodied and dripping. He could hear Kaito laughing at him, which was kinda rude. He'd attached the tail Kaito had made to the hem of his pants, activated it, then somehow ended up hitting himself in the face with it. It really packed a punch. His head was still throbbing as he sensed Kaito near him and accepted the offered handkerchief to stem the blood flow.

"You being able to move it is a good sign" Kaito snickered "You've just got to learn how to control it" Which would be a hell of a lot of fun to watch. He himself had gotten so many injuries and bruises, but Lapin could use his legs so he was less likely to fall on his face. His smile became less amused and more genuine "If you get the hang of it, I can make your gloves react to the nanobots and your turbo shoes instead of flexing a certain way" Because why not? He already had the foundations within him so he might as well use them.

"That would be neat" Lapin's voice was off due to him holding his nose "Please don't change them until I have great control over the nanobots please" He didn't want to become a blood splatter on a wall.

Kaito blinked "Of course not, I'm trying to help you, not kill you" He's only ever really killed one person before, and that was because Ginzo had needed help and Snake had been in the way. Even if he wanted to, he doubted that he'd be able to do such a thing again.

Lapin faintly focused on the tail, giving just the slightest of nudges for it to move. It swayed a bit, he smiled "Oh, maybe I was trying too hard"

Jaw dropping, Kaito shook his head "No way, it's just a fluke!" There was absolutely no way Lapin could be a natural. Except it was hard to believe that then the tail started moving fluidly. That wasn't fair! Lapin was able to use all the cool stuff... "You'll need to watch lots and lots of cat videos to study how their tails move" He stated that instead of voicing the unfairness. He was mature after all.

Humming, Lapin nodded "We have Sooty but studying more cats would be beneficial" Moving the tail felt odd, it was a part of him, yet it wasn't actually a part of him "Having it become natural and automatic would be best"

Indigos gleamed "True" And it would be hilarious if it became too natural, meaning it would give away his emotions... Ah, but then he'd feel like something was missing once it was safe for him to take a permanent cure... Hmmm, maybe he'll get more people to use tails to normalize it. He inwardly snickered at the thought of Saguru having a dog tail, a cat tail would be able to bend better and be more useful. Once he could walk and no longer needed a wheelchair, he'd make himself a cool tail too. Aha! He'd just have to befriend Kudo Shinichi then him getting a tail too wouldn't be so suspicious. Future problem solved.

Lapin pet the tail, feeling how velvety soft it was. It was deceptively dangerous and made him feel safer "Thanks for making all of this stuff for me" He couldn't remember if he'd actually thanked Kaito for this or not. He hadn't missed the longing in the other's eyes either, he knew that Kaito wanted to use the cool gadgets himself. He couldn't though "I'd be willing to try out any other stuff you come up with" Testing stuff for the other was the least he could do for him "I might not choose to use all of them, but testing is fine" Kaito's inventions were safer than Hakase's on principle.

Kaito grinned "Okay, I'll take you up on that offer" He had so much cool stuff that he knew weren't suited for Lapin's tastes "It will save time for when I can kit myself out" The sticky gecko gloves and shoes were just collecting dust, he wanted to see if the user could climb walls with them.

"So when are we planning Shinichi's death?" Lapin inquired. The nanobots weren't boiling him anymore so he felt great.

"Not for a few days minimum, Aoko is making lasagna tonight and it's delicious" Kaito snickered "I wouldn't be able to enjoy it as much if I thought about how you were fasting and unable to eat it" Because poor Lapin would have to fast in order to play his part.

Lapin made a curious noise in the back of his throat "Do you have a permanent cure already made?" He knew that he couldn't have them, he was just curious.

Kaito studied Lapin for a few moments before slowly nodding "I do"

The tiny sleuth's shoulders slumped with relief "So it's not 'if' it's just 'when' I get to go back" He breathed, utterly relieved. He couldn't believe how lucky he was to be forcefully acquainted with Kaito. The guy was terribly smart and talented, and most important of all a good person. Normally his luck was terrible.

"Yeah" Kaito's gaze softened "You're guaranteed to get back to your original age no matter what" Whether it's as himself or entering witness protection, the sleuth wouldn't be forced to relive his childhood.

Something fluttered in Lapin's chest at seeing Kaito's expression directed towards himself. He mentally shook his head to clear away the weird feeling "Could you teach me some of your advanced chemistry?" He blurted out before looking away "The additional knowledge would be useful in the future"

"Of course" Kaito was always up for teaching people stuff! He liked sharing knowledge because then the people around him were smarter as a whole "We can start after dinner if you'd like, I'd need to see where you are in the subject but it's probably higher than that of most high schoolers" Because the sleuth was already exceptionally smart.

"Ah" Lapin scratched his cheek, somewhat embarrassed "I focused more on poisons and deadly yet common reactions that could be used for murder"
