PROPHECY (3)
Infant Island 1999
"Has the time come?" Luna asked Mana with deep concern.
The shobijin watched as the Guardian fought his ancient enemies. They couldn't see the fight themselves, but they could sense what was happening.
The sight was nothing short of apocalyptic, the Guardian had been weakened, and was outnumbered. But he pressed forward. The conflict was so impactful that the tribe that served and protected them began to pray to their goddess. They reverently danced and sang to their slumbering deity for protection, and that their ally would have the strength to defeat his enemies.
"No Luna. It is not time yet." Mana responded. The shobijin did not speak verbally as they watched the fight. It would have broken their concentration. Instead they spoke telepathically. The gift of listening to each others thoughts was a useful one. Such was necessary for their goddess to convey her thoughts and intentions to them. The shobijin's telepathy did not rely on her for it to function, however it was stronger in her presence.
"What will happen?" Luna asked.
"I do not know ,sister." Mana responded simply. She wanted to say more but she couldn't. She was just as scared and unsure as her sister was.
They witnessed the Shadow of Evil as they beat the Guardian mercilessly. Despite his overwhelming size in relation to his enemies, his wounds were too severe. The Guardian was outmatched, and the Shadow of Evil would be victorious.
"What will happen if they kill him ,Mana? Will they come here?" Luna asked her sister.
"I do not know ,Luna." Mana responded.
"She will protect us if they do." Luna stated.
"Yes, she will." Mana shared her sister's reassurance. But at the moment they were not concerned about their dormant goddess. They were concerned for the Guardian. They had sensed his being since he and his enemies awoke. Although clearly different from their guardian deity, the Guardian was like her in many ways. They both held the same purpose of protect the Earth, but he didn't care about protecting its inhabitants as much as their deity did. The Last Hope still held true to his duty of protecting the planet, but in doing so he'd abandoned his relation to the humans in his desperation. Their goddess would never abandon that relationship with the humans however. Still despite that, the Guardian's determination to fulfill his duty was admirable. The shobijin and their goddess admired him for it.
Such would be vital for what was to come. Had she not been asleep she would have helped the Guardian, but she wasn't.
Despite his determination to destroy his enemy, the Guardian fell. The Shadow of Evil began to feed upon him and the helpless people around them. It was a tragic and gruesome sight, but one the shobijin could not turn away from. Although the battle was lost, the Guardian was still alive. They felt an outside energy as they watched. They heard someone crying out to him. She was the outside source. She was the Guardian's priestess ,much like the shobijin were to their goddess. He had abandoned her just the same as he had the rest of humanity, but she did not abandon him. She still had faith in the Last Hope.
Her faith was true, and the Guardian found the strength to overcome his opponents. He used what energy their was around him to destroy his enemies, and saving what life there was around him in the process. Although protecting humanity was no longer a priority to him, he wasn't to far gone from it. He still held some affection for them.
The tribe had heard the explosion the Guardian had caused and stood in wonder as they watched the circular flame rise before disappearing. In stopping their worship ,the shobijin couldn't sense the vision clearly, but their goddess allowed them to continue to watch.
The Guardian stood victorious, but it had come at the cost of his life, and with his last dying breath he fell. The priestess was heart-broken by death of the Guardian. She ran to his comfort, and with all of the strength she could concentrate she gave her friend the strength to live. However, it came at a cost. After that they could see no more.
"What has happened?!" The chief of their tribe asked the tiny priestesses as he ran to them. "What will become of us?!" He just like the rest of his tribe was scarred. They had not seen what the shobijin saw.
Mana and Luna made no response. None was necessary. They watched as the Guardian sored over them. The tribe trembled in fear as the watched the monster fly above them before diving into the ocean.
After regaining his composure the chief asked, "What has happened? Is it time? Has it come?"
"No. But the time is not far off. The Guardian is victorious, we need not fear the Shadow of Evil." The shobijin spoke in unison. "Continue to pray to Mothra. We must go, but we will be back soon." They told the chieftain, before they departed.
The shobijin priestesses approached the egg of their goddess ,Mothra. The gigantic egg was still dormant, but it would soon hatch and their goddess would be reborn. Under it lay a shrine, one in reverence and respect to the ancient guardian monster's previous victories. But with it, it also contained a stone passage. A prophecy, one that was yet to come true.
"It will be here soon." Luna spoke.
"Indeed. Let us pray we are ready when it comes." Mana said.
As they said that the shrine began to glow...
Sorry it took so long to get to this, I was on vacation for the past week, and before that I was working on my other story. Thankfully though this project isn't as time consuming or in detail as the other one is. Again, thank-you ChimaTigon for showing interest in the story, and also ,in relation to your question, Godzilla Senior is fighting Gamera. In the context of the story only Godzilla 1984 has happened, and the other six movies in the heisei series haven't, so Goji Junior doesn't exist at all in this story. However I may try too fit him in some how at the end if it's possible.
