Notes:

A fair bit of genre typical violence in this chapter. I'm not super used to writing battles so I'm sorry if it's not great... mainly I really just wanted someone to kill an Arealfos with a fire extinguisher. I thought that would be cool. The Inspiration behind the band was the OG Hex Girls (ofc). The band members are Danielle (guitarist, main vocals) a Columbian songstress who has long wild purple hair that frames her face in doll curls. She can wail like Janice Joplin (and draws a lot of inspiration from her in fashion and musical stylings). Winona (who we've already met.) San Fransisco-born 'local' for the setting, best friends with, and overly protective of Danielle who she treats like a little sister even though Dani is in fact both older and more responsible/mature than she is; tall pixie-haired bassist and vocals. and last but Definitely not least..Valda, who hails from somewhere snowy and somewhat Nordic (to be revealed!) (who is basically in my brain looks and acts quite a lot like Striga from Castlevania but with rainbowed dreads. (I literally just love her character so much, it's a hard one to 'improve'...i just. Yeah..) The songs that the band sings are both from Concrete blonde's Bloodletting album.

The first is the title song "Bloodletting": watch?v=jSRIg9GlG6Y

The second one which Winona sings is "Days and Days" watch?v=cUycpxYgEDY

Enjoy!

Suddenly the lights dimmed and swiveled towards an elevated stage some distance from the Chain. An impossibly large image of a group of musicians was projected upon the wall behind it making them seem larger than life. A deep thumping bass beat began to pulse, and the lights flashed in time. A swarm of Keese(?) seemed to erupt from the wall behind the band who seemed utterly unphased by this. The chain, moving as one burst to their feet behind the heavy table, shields, and bows ready. When it became apparent that there was no incoming attack and the band and audience were carrying on as if nothing had just happened, they sat down again, albeit somewhat uneasily.

"A trick…" Hyrule murmured to himself in a high nervous staccato "It was an illusion.." He gulped his drink and raises his fingers for another.

Gracie, the barmaid, was only too happy to oblige. she smiled at him as she retrieved his glass and promised to return. She slid a small bowl of hard twisty salted breads at him and winked in her iconic way. He absently stuffed one into his mouth, trying to calm his racing heart, and was actually taken aback…It. Was.. Delicious. He nudged the little bowl towards Wild and Twilight, who all but ignored his gesture, so entranced with the events occurring on the stage. When he noticed that there were not going to partake he slowly pulled the bowl back in front of him.. More for him, he supposed. A short woman clad in what seemed to be studded leather armor with coffee-colored skin and long purple curls that bounced as she swayed to the opening beat was center stage with a slightly taller woman with pinked cropped hair standing beside her. The curly-haired woman called out to the crowd, and they went WILD.
"We are 'Definition of Purity'!" She bellowed and let out an unearthly scream as the band swung into full force. A powerful, impossibly fast drum beat pulsed from the side of the stage farthest from the gang. Hidden behind the mammoth kit, the supremely skilled percussionist was a person of considerable size but indeterminate features. All that was visible from where they were was a mass of rainbowed dreadlocks wound with more of those glowing rings of color swinging in time to the pounding beat. The woman in the front began to crow a soulful song about 'vampires' in a place called New Orleans that was apparently 'warm and green'. It sounded quite nice. Wars in particular seemed to be quite taken with the swarthy, beguiling songstress. She had a rather impressive-looking instrument that looked to be some kind of guitar strapped to her and she commanded the room with her voice.

"Wow….what a Woman," Wars murmured looking up at her.

"Hmn." Seemed to agree Legend from a few spots away, though his attention was fixated on the bass player.

The Pink-coifed woman from before at the bar was throwing herself into the rhythm of their song. Every now and again she would glance with a pure adoration to the curly-haired, songstress at the center stage. She gave a powerful backing vocal to the song and the vet found himself bouncing his knee under the table to the rhythm of her deep velvety tones. He was fixated. Whatever this place was…whoever these people were. They seemed to be in their element. He loved music, in all its forms and thoroughly enjoyed watching talented musicians. The fainted ghost of a memory... some colorful island tune wafted through his mind and was immediately snatched away beyond his grasp before he even registered it that it was there leaving naught but a too familiar ache in its place. He shook his head and reached for his drink, unconsciously numbing the pain with distraction.
The song ended, to the applause of all, and cheers from the crowd. Coasting on the vibe the band struck up again, this time the pixie-haired bassist stepped slightly forward. She strums a hard bead and starts weaving a song into air around her. The song is low, almost guttural and the words are fast and filled with passion and rage:

"The dirty leaves are sailing
On a hot wind ocean
And the summer comes
And the summer goes and always has & will
And something somewhere
That you said goes ricochet
All through my head
And flashing like a neon sign
The time stand still
Hours of forever. coming all together
At the crossroads of a minute.
And you and me were in it
And I never saw it coming,
Never saw it fade away
Today, today, today... days and days…"
The guitarist pressed her back to the taller woman and they bobbed their heads in sync as they crooned the chorus together, eyes squeezed shut. The guitar took a squealing mournful solo. The audience moved with a frenetic energy, dancing and swaying. The bassist began to sing again.
"It's hours of forever
Running all together
Like the crossroads of a minute
And you and me were in it
And I never saw it coming
Never saw it fade away
Today, today, today
Days and days
Days and days
Days and days
Days and days…"

The song ended to a cacophony of cheers. The two women on the stage linked arms and grinned. The chain found themselves standing and clapping too.
"Thank you!" The shorter woman with the violet ringlets shouted over the din breathlessly, laughing as she smacked a large glowing orb playfully back off of the stage where it had drifted from the audience. It moved with a deep muffled *boing* much slower than it looked like it should have with the force she had put into it the crowd in turn began to toss it back and forth from one side of the room to the other in what appeared to be some kind of game. "We have a few more, we just wanted to take a second to thank the "Lucky Rabbit's Foot" club for hosting-
She continued her short message into the black staff before her. It projected her voice around the hall with a slight tinny echo. The room had quieted to listen. The bassist had her back to the crowd and was bringing a drink to the drummer who stood up to be seen in their full height. This were the tallest, most intimidating woman that the Chain had ever seen. Deathly pale skinned with jagged features and dark eyes, she scanned the crowd with her eyes..She looked to be cut from granite. She raised her glass to the bassist and then to the audience (to a loud but brief clustering of cheers which she cut off with a sideways 'slicing' motion of one large well-muscled arm.) before sitting back behind her kit, once again disappearing. The Guitarist finished her brief speech and was beginning to twang something jaunty on her axe with a dazzling smile when a loud crash suddenly rung out, shaking the entire structure. Everyone looked up in surprise, momentarily frozen when an explosion erupted from the bathroom beside the dancefloor where the chain had initially emerged. Screaming came soon after as the crowd began to panic. The chain were on their feet in seconds. They couldn't see what was happening over the thronging mob of people but they could guess..
Their guess proved only too right.
A solitary shrill screech of an aeralfos echoed painfully around the room, making everyone wince and cover their ears. It emerged from the cloud of concrete rubble and huffed smoke as it surveyed the surrounding. It noticed the band and pointed its spear at them in a cry of triumph. The towering drummer now stood center stage in from of her mates in a protective stance.
"RUN!" She roared over her shoulder at them as she picked up a massive speaker from beside her and hurled it off the stage at the monster.
It sailed through the air with admirable distance and landed where the monster would have been if it hadn't reacted in time. The monster had taken to the air with an indignant squawk of surprise. More monsters began to pour out of the broken wall behind it. The airborne beast spat fire at the women on the stage who were now trying to leg it to some unknown exit. Time and Wars were already trying to muscle through the panicked tide of people fleeing and get towards the beast. A second explosion rocked the building again, and this time part of the ceiling collapsed, bringing cables and lights down with it. Sparks and smoke filled the chaos. Everyone was thrown to the floor. People were screaming and crawling over each other as the monsters began to descend. Cleaving down into them in great bloody swaths. A cacophony of agonized screams ripped through the air.
"C'mon! We've got to save them!" said four leaping onto a table, trying to see what was happening. He spied yet more monsters coming out of the hole in the wall by the bathroom. This was getting bad. Sky and wild were the first to make it to the monsters and were fighting them back at the chokepoint where they were getting in. Wind and Twilight were trying to herd people out the exit and hopefully to safety, fighting off any monsters that made an approach on the thronging crowd. Legend had made his way to Wars and Time and the three were fighting back the monsters that had made it into the room near the foot of the stage. Legend's mirror shield was held high over his head as he braced against the flaming breath of the airborne monster. Even with its magical protections, it was beginning to get uncomfortably hot.

"Gotta take a breath sometime!" He snarled at its seemingly limitless supply of burning venom. Suddenly a cloud of white foam burst from behind him and straight into the Aeralfos. It squealed and tried again to throw its fire but only got a smothering mouthful of the foam, it fell from the air choking. A blur of spikes and pink hair raced past Legend wielding a strange heavy looking red cylinder. She leapt upon the flailing monster with a scream and began to smash it with the object. He was momentarily stunned by the event playing out before him before he came to his senses and joined the attack. He lopped its head of with one quick blow from his sword. Spraying both himself and the woman in sticky black blood. As the monster lay twitching beneath them she dropped the heavy cylinder with a thud that cracked the glowing tile beneath it and doubled over with her hands on her knees. She looked up at him eyes wild and chest heaving.
"Link?" she wheezed. "W-"
"RUN!" He screamed at her as he ran back to join his brothers who were still fighting. She turned to leave, hesitated, and then ran behind him when she saw where he was going. Two bokoblins seem to have cornered the Guitarist from the band and Winona was screaming as she caught up.
"DANI! HOLD ON, I'M COMING!"
The guitarist was keeping the two monsters at bay with her guitar which she periodically swung at them like an actual axe, when she looked up at her name a short-lived relief flooded her features when one of the monsters took the momentary distraction to tackle her. It pinned her to the ground, and she screamed up at it in rage kicking and fighting the whole way down. It yanked repeatedly on her guitar to try to disarm her but the strap was caught on her arm and it wouldn't give. The beast screeched in frustration. It didn't have long to fret, however, Legend, who had already made quick work of its boko companion, had reached the downed woman and had split the beast into two nearly perfect halves that fell away from his blade. He reached out a blood-slicked hand to help the terrified woman to her feet. She screamed and backed away, scooting on her butt, trying to take a swipe at him with her now ruined guitar. He took a step back and raised his hands in a reassuring gesture, but before he could even open his mouth Winona tackled the woman in wracking sobs. She pulled her close and began to kiss her cheeks and forehead gibbering fast and broken in some unknown language. Legend felt awkward and intrusive in this moment and turned away to survey the surrounding damage. A few broken bodies littered the floor. A stray limb here and there. A large pool of blood near the middle of the dance floor was being backlit by its bright colorful tiles giving everything a macabre twisted glow. Wind and Twilight seemed to have gotten a good many people outside before they were caught up in the battle. All in all? It wasn't as many casualties as he expected. He was picking his way through the rubble towards Time when a loud roar echoed from the bathroom...

A lynel ducked its head through the comparatively small hole and made its way into the room. Its heavy hooves shattered the tile lights as it moved leaving a trail of darkness in its wake and it slowly walked forward. The chain began to take up defensive positions around it. Waiting for it to attack. It made no sudden movements. Suddenly the drummer from the band ran out of the shadows in front of it. She threw her wide arms out as if she meant to block its progress. She bellowed at it in a tongue that none of them recognized. The lynel seemed to make a chuffing sound like laughter as it pulled its crusher from its back. The woman didn't budge.

"Lady get Out of here!" Wind screamed at her. She didn't even look at him.

"You boys best get going before this gets any worse." She addressed the gathered chain who exchanged a series of looks. Her voice was deep and smooth but carried an edge to it that reminded both Wars and Time of their worlds iterations of Impa. She wasn't asking. A silver jeweled cuff on her right wrist began to glow red-hot before it seemed to melt and form a round her forearm in the form of a long curved blade. It burned too hot to look directly at it. Th magic sword made the air around it seemed to shimmer. Time stalked up beside her, his Biggoron sword in his hands. He nodded to her. As they prepared to fight. It was over almost too quickly. The monster swung its massive weapon over its head in an arc, letting its weight do most of the work. It came down with a crash sending what was left of the tiled floor up in an explosion of shards. Filling the space with more darkness. The Woman, in a surprising show of agility for her size, leapt upon the crusher now, half-buried in the floor and ran up its length lopping off the creature's head and arms in a series of quick blinding strikes. The heat of her blade instantly cauterized the stumps leaving no blood as the beast sank to its knees.

The Woman turned to the gathered men and her bandmates who were now all pretty well torn up between the battle itself and the floor shrapnel. Her magical blade retreated back into the cuff on her wrist leaving not a trace of its presence behind.

"We need to leave… Now."
