(so…my Spanish isn't amazing. If I make any mistakes please let me know?)
By the time dinner had rolled around the gang had seemed to have quite their fill of entertainment and had worked up an appetite. They filed down to the dining hall in a jolly fashion laughing and talking about their various games and vices. The only quiet ones were Legend who was still miffed from the teasing earlier and Sky who was mad about the end of the movie (They could have had the Eagles the WHOLE TIME?)
"That's what Gandalf was saying… 'Fly, you fools!' It makes so much more sense! Boromir could have lived if they had only flown!" He lamented.
Legend simply nodded along to humor him. He had missed the first two movies before he went to join the film-watching trio but had very much enjoyed the last one anyway as a standalone. He thought that the swordswoman Eowyn was not given enough credit and that there should have been more of her in the story, but he enjoyed it none the less.
Dani was laughing at some dumb joke Wars had made. She walked freely on his arm, thanks entirely to Hyrule's magical healing abilities which she had gone on about at some length afterward (making Hyrule blush and Wars a smidge jealous…)
Wars seemed to be in the process of trying to woo the winsome singer, and from what the others could see, he seemed to not be doing too badly. She laughed at his jokes and humored his bravado and war stories which was more than anyone else seemed to do. He was eating it up.
Wind was nursing a blood-blister on the end of one finger from a particularly badly placed shot during his match with four at the air hockey table. He wouldn't let Hyrule touch it though... he was inordinately proud of his 'battle scar'. Four thought he was being just a tad bit dramatic but didn't care too terribly much. He was riding the high of his victory at the game.
Wild had indeed beaten the high score of his game, but upon doing so was unable to successfully add his own symbols to the list so now the top of the board read "BAA". It was enough…HE knew he beat it, and in the end? That was all that mattered to him.
At dinner, the mood was a little bit subdued. Winona sat in a different spot now with Valda sitting next to Ravio as a buffer between them. Legend still elected to sit next to Winona. Wars chose to sit next to Dani across from Winona putting him at Ravio's Left side, and Hyrule sat on her other side, seeming to bask in her praise and attention. Other than that, the gang had essentially assembled as before.
The dinner itself was a sumptuous dish of herbed duck with a tangy citrus sauce, the creamiest mashed potatoes that the chain had ever had, and some unknown but delicious greens. The dessert and coffee after were even better. The Chain got to experience a treat called 'Tiramisu' that was until now unknown to most of the group though there was something similar in Wild's Hyrule this was far Far better…
After dinner, the ladies decided to go for a soak in the hot tub under the stars in the back garden. Wars was inclined to join them but was held back by Ravio who asked the men if they would be so kind as to join him for brandy in his smoking room. To which Time and Wind gleefully agreed on behalf of the group as a whole. Wars was disappointed, but was not one to turn down a snifter of fine brandy…
Winona was quiet.. contemplative. She was grateful for her friends, but the day's events (and that of the night before for that matter) were weighing heavy on her.
"Qué más pues, Muñequita?" Dani asked Winona, snapping her out of her personal reverie.
"Ahh.. Nada mi Hermosa." She replied with a wan smile.
"Ahuh…Bullshit." Came Dani's reply, her lips still upon the bottle of beer that she was nursing. "Is this about what Valda told you earlier?"
Winona just nodded reaching for another bottle herself. She popped the cap off against the edge of the tup like a seasoned pro before taking a long swig.
Valda hummed in reply. "Nothing has changed... at least not for us. We are still a family."
Winona nodded numbly. "I just.. there's so much I didn't know. I feel kind of stupid. You know?"
"Ey! Ey.. why feel stupid? You were intentionally kept in the dark. I think all things considered? You should give yourself some credit, you're handling this all pretty well...eh Princesa? " She made a mock toast and took a long pull of beer.
"Tch.. Oh Okay." Winona snorted jostling her friend hard. "You're the one who's going to be 'La Princesa' here soon if 'tall blond and handsome' has his way.." she teased.
Dani gave a yelp of alarm and sputtered beer out of her nose in a surprised cough causing the other women to laugh out loud. After her coughing fit, she laughed too.
"He does seem smitten doesn't he" She hummed. "He IS cute I suppose, in a jockey macho sort of way… He sure talks about himself a lot though. I kind of prefer his little freckled friend to be honest." She giggled. "I got to let him down easy.."
"Cheers to that." Said Valda with a deep throaty laugh. The women clinked bottles.
"Speaking of which… I can't help but notice that you've made a new friend too." Dani teased.
Winona raised her eyebrows and pulled the bottle briefly from her lips to answer.
"Sorta..yeah? And..?"
"I'm just saying…your pink-haired friend seems to follow you around like a little duckling. It's kind of cute."
"I think it's probably mostly the hair.." Winona laughed running her fingers through her wet fringe. "Birds of a feather and whatnot.."
"Ahuh.." said Dani lightly, then in a singsong. "Just be gentle…" she smirked. "Virgins tend to break easy."
Winona choked on her beer.
"DANI!" Valda scolded, trying not to laugh.
"What?" She cried "Tell me I'm wrong? Go ahead…"
At which point all three women came to the mutual agreement that the Vet (most of the Chain actually) had big 'Virgin Energy' and that these sweet, strange boys must be protected from the world at all costs.
The merry trio gave a toast to that end and laughed.
