Hey I'm back, sorry for disappearing for 3 years. Rogue is OOC in this but it's how I like to imagine him.
Enjoy the update!
Lucy was glowing as she closed the door behind her after entering her hotel room. Rogue had been so sweet for their whole date, opening doors for her and pulling out her chair. They hadn't gone anywhere fancy, as neither of them were dressed for the occasion, but she still had a wonderful time. He had insisted on walking her home, to which she gladly agreed. They had walked to her hotel in a comfortable silence, and when they reached the building, he had thanked her for dinner and she had been bold enough to place a quick kiss on his pale cheek. He was so adorable the way a flushed at her actions.
She had found out that he was from a newer guild called Sabertooth. He didn't seem to want to talk too much about his guild though, a look of distaste crossed his face when she asked what it was like there. She wondered what could be so bad about their guild to make him not want to bring it up. Maybe their building had gotten destroyed and he didn't like talking about it? She had no idea. Maybe she will find out next time they see each other.
...
Next time?
"Shit!" Lucy quickly ran out of the hotel in search for the Shadow Mage but he was no where in sight. Her shoulders dropped and she frowned. How was she supposed to talk to him again? She totally forgot to ask his last name so now she couldn't even contact him on a lacrima. Though, he knew her last name so maybe he would try contacting her? She really hoped so, she wanted things to work out between her and the handsome man.
She sulked her way back inside and collapsed on the bed. She had a great time tonight but who's to say she'll see him again? What if he didn't have a good time like she did and he didn't tell her his last name because he didn't want her contacting him? Ugh! this was way too frustrating. She rolled over and hugged a pillow. She was overthinking things. He probably wasn't thinking about how they would meet again and forgot to tell her his last name. Yeah, she'll go with that.
She let out a sigh and closed her eyes, uncaring of the fact that she was still wearing her mission clothes. She would just sleep it off and hope for the best.
Lucy quietly grumbled to herself as she got off of the train that arrived in Crocus. Fairy Tail had agreed to participate in the Grand Magic Games and she was chosen. She had no idea why, considering Laxus, Gajeel, or even Mira would have been a better choice than her! But, it was the master's orders so she had to follow them. It wasn't that she didn't want to participate, it really did sound fun, but she still wasn't sure about her skills. She was going to be representing the guild after all.
What frustrated her most of all wasn't the pain that she went through to open her second origin, no, it was the fact that Rogue hasn't tried to contact her at all!
She huffed, waving off Natsu when he gave her a confused look and continued wondering the town with him. If Rogue wasn't interested, he could have said so in the first place. She felt like she was led on, and it hurt. It always seemed to be the attractive men that felt like they're better than others. Take Laxus for example, he's less of a dick now but he was so self absorbed back in the beginning she thought his head would explode with the amount of ego he had. Maybe she would have had a better chance with that blonde guy that showed up. What was his name again? Stun? Stan? St-
"A fight!"
Natsu and Lucy blink in surprise at the sudden outburst.
"Alright! Now this is exciting!" Natsu grins and runs towards the commotion.
"Natsu, wait up!" Lucy yells after him and follows. Man, he was way too fast, her shorter legs could barely keep up. She didn't know why he found a street fight so interesting, but she had to make sure he didn't do anything stupid to get them kicked out of the Games. She managed to squeeze through the crowd and find her way in the front, glaring down at the pink head kneeling on the ground. "Natsu, you dummy, running off like that."
Natsu pouted up at her and shrugged. "I wanted to see the fight. Besides," His face turns serious then, "I smelled a dragon."
Lucy's eyes went wide and she looked in front of her, landing on a pair of smug blue eyes before moving over to look into a pair of shocked red ones. She blinked and then narrowed her eyes. "Rogue."
"You know these guys, Luce?" Natsu asked before standing up.
She crossed her arms and huffed, turning her head away in irritation. "Unfortunately. The one with black hair is Rogue, he's a prick." She looked back at him and saw his eyebrow twitch in annoyance. "The blonde one is, uh, String."
"It's Sting!" Sting barked at her.
Lucy glanced down at her ankle when she felt a small tug on her boot. A smile graced her lips and she picked up the small green cat. "Hi, Fro."
Frosch had a large smile on his face as he excitedly patted his paws on her cheek. "Fro hasn't seen Lucy in a long time. Where have you been?"
"Frosch, come back here." Rogue's stern voice sent a shiver through her.
"Tch, figures." Lucy glares at him before placing the sad cat down. "Won't let me be happy at all."
Rogue's mouth opened and closed in surprise, his eyes wide. "Wh-"
Sting's hand clamped over his partners mouth. "Look, we're not here for some silly love quarrel. I heard Fairy Tail was participating in the Games."
"We are." Natsu nodded, completely forgetting the whole interaction in a matter of seconds. "Tell me, why do you smell like a dragon?"
Sting chuckled and stepped closer to the pair. "Shouldn't it be obvious?" He grinned and titled his head, spreading his arms to gesture to himself and Rogue. "We're Dragon Slayers."
Lucy gasped while Natsu narrowed his eyes. "Did your dragon's disappear in the year seven-seventy-seven too?"
Sting lowered his arms and chuckled, walking back over to Rogue. "You could say that,"
Rogue closed his eyes, choosing to ignore the confusing situation between himself and Lucy for now. "They died." He states, opening his eyes to stare blankly into the shocked eyes of the other Slayer. "We killed them with the magic that they gave us."
Natsu clenched his fists, grinding his teeth together as anger flared through him. "You bastards, those were you parents!"
"Maybe," Sting chuckled, "but killing them allowed us to become true Dragon Slayers."
"Y'see, you and those other two were raised by dragons, we like to call you guys first generation Dragon Slayers." Lector chimes in. "Laxus and Cobra had a lacrima placed in them, so we call 'em second generation Dragon Slayers." He points a paw towards the twin Slayers and grins. "But these two were raised by dragons and have a lacrima placed inside of them. They're the third generation hybrid!"
"Third generation?" Natsu mumbles in surprise.
"Whether it's first or third or even fifth, Natsu could kick both of your asses no problem! You guys are just show-offs!" Lucy glares, mostly at Rogue but it's not like she meant to.
Sting chuckles and walks towards her, stopping mere inches from her and hearing the stutter in her breath. "You have no idea what we're capable of, Blondie. We're on a whole other level." He grabs her chin and smirks. "Not like you have any room to talk about power, since you needed to be saved by one of these 'show offs'."
"That's enough, Sting." Rogue had to hold in a growl.
Lucy slapped his hand away and fumed as she watched his laughing back walk towards his partner. "I could have done just fine on my own." She knew it was a lie, but these two made her so angry that she just blurted it out.
"Right," Sting drawled, giving her an unbelieving look. "Well, we gotta go. Gotta make sure we're at the hotel by midnight so we can beat Fairy Tail again this year."
She clenched her fists at hearing his cackle as they all walked away, almost missing the small sad glance that Rogue sent over his shoulder when he turned. What's with that look? He's the one who didn't contact me! She huffed before turning and making her way away from the silent crowd, Natsu following close behind.
"What did he mean you needed saving, Luce? When did you even meet these guys?" Natsu asked as he fell into step beside her.
"I was on a solo mission because I needed rent money and Rogue happened to show up when I was captured by the leader of the dark guild I was taking down." She sighed. She really wished things didn't turn out this way, she had such an amazing time with him that night. He was so sweet, she had no idea what changed him.
"If he saved your life, then why do you hate him?" He was so confused at that point.
"It's complicated, Natsu. I don't really wanna talk about it."
Natsu nods, not wanting to push her buttons with the sad look in her eyes. She'd talk to him when she was ready. They were best friends, and she trusted him. He would be patient and try to make her feel better. "Let's head back to the hotel, it's almost midnight."
Dead last. Lucy internally whines in embarrassment at all of the 'boo's' they were getting. Had the guild really been that bad without them? Well, it didn't matter now because Team Natsu would bring them victory! However, she had to blanch when a Fairy Tail B team was called. She honestly shouldn't be surprised, but now she understood why Master didn't choose Laxus or Gajeel to be on the team. Of course he would do something like this.
"Sorry for keeping this from you guys." Mira smiled sweetly as the B team walked over to them. "It was under the Master's orders."
"Why am I not surprised." Lucy sighed.
"Gihi, don't you worry your pretty little head, Bunny Girl, we'll pick up the pieces that your team messes up." Gajeel smirks.
"What?! As if your team is better than ours! We're gonna get way more points than you guys!" Natsu shouts, bumping his head with Gajeel.
"Oh yeah? You wanna bet on it?" Gajeel grinned.
"Natsu, don't-" Lucy tried to say before he cut her off.
"Yeah! Losing team has to do whatever the winning teams says for an entire day!" He stepped back and grinned.
"Deal!"
"We're doomed." Lucy cried.
"And now, the guild everyone has been waiting for! In first place; Sabertooth!" Lucy looked over to the team entering the arena, her eyes landing on the shadow mage. He was wearing the same outfit that he had on when they first met, and it brought a tinge of pain in her heart. She watched as Sting looked over and gave their team a wave with a smirk. She rolled her eyes and groaned in annoyance.
"Somethin' wrong, Blondie?" Laxus asked from behind her. "You know those guys?"
Lucy sighed and turned to face the larger blonde. "Something like that. Just the one with short blonde hair and the gloomy looking dark haired guy. Met them on a mission."
Laxus looked over to the team and saw the dark haired mage looking at Lucy with longing. Oh? Maybe they had something going on? Maybe Lucy rejected him? Now, Laxus has become a better person, but that didn't mean he didn't have any asshole left in him. What harm would it be to anger the enemy a bit?
Lucy squeaked when she felt Laxus slide his arm around her shoulder and pull her close to him. "What are you doing?" Her face heated when she felt him nuzzle her hair. "What the fuck, Laxus?"
He glanced over to the mage across the arena and gave a smirk, making sure to lock eyes with him. He watched as anger crossed his face and a look that could kill was shot directly at him. This is too good, he's got feelings for her. Lucy finally pushed him away and he chuckled at her puffed cheeks and annoyed look. "Sorry, just wanted to check something."
Lucy crossed her arms and turned her head. "Well check a different way, I don't want your pervy hands all over me, you weirdo."
He chuckled once more. "Right, won't do it again." He found amusement in the mans reaction, how he got so angry over something like that. He felt like he hurt Lucy the most out of pretty much everyone -except his grandfather- and felt the need to look after her now. He'd apologized and she'd forgiven him and they had become pretty good friends, so this would be interesting to see how angry he could make this mystery man.
Lucy cheered Gray on as he participated in the first event of the day, she wanted to cheer on Juvia too but didn't know if she should since their two teams were technically enemies. She wanted both teams to win, but wanted Gray to get higher in the ranking. "Kick their asses, Gray!"
She suddenly felt a chill and couldn't shake the feeling that someone was watching her. She looked around the arena until her eyes landed on the mage she wanted to see the least. Their eyes locked and he gave her such a hard stare that she thought she would melt from such a heated gaze. There was something else in that stare, but she couldn't quite tell what it was from such a far distance. She shivered when his gaze flicked over her body quickly before turning to watch the games.
"You okay, Luce?"
She turned and smiled at Natsu, giving a nod. "Yeah. Just a pest." She jumped in surprise when she felt something cool tickling her leg and looked down. Her eyes widened when she saw a dark tendril slithering over her ankle and teasing its way up her calf. She quickly looked back over to Rogue and saw that he gave her a side glance and a small smirk before looking away again. What the hell is his game?! She waved Natsu off when he gave her a confused look and she leaned on the railing. She needed to find out what he was getting at, why he hadn't tried contacting her and now all of a sudden he was trying to tease her? She was so confused!
A small blush appeared on her cheeks when she felt the coolness slither further up her leg to tease the back of her thigh. She glared over at him, not taking her eyes away while he stared at the battle arena. He had to look at her eventually, she needed to get his attention to make him stop. Her body felt warm as the shadow brushed the underside of her ass, but her brain was screaming at her to move away from it. What if it was all a misunderstanding and he wasn't able to contact me? She shook her head away from that thought. It could be true, but a part of her wanted to stay mad at him.
"I gotta use the bathroom." She muttered before quickly making her way out of the stand. She needed to leave, she couldn't let the teasing go on. Someone would notice eventually. And he's got some explaining to do! She had no idea where she was going, she just needed to leave. She gave a deep sigh and leaned against a wall and shut her eyes, the distant cheering filling her ears. Man, and this is only the first day. She was already exhausted.
"Just a pest? Really?"
She gasped and her eyes flew open, coming face to face with a scowling Dragon Slayer. "Rogue." She breathed, flinching when he slammed his hands against the wall to cage her in.
"How dare you insult me when you're the one who was ignoring me? To think you'd leave me like that for a different man." He growled and brought one of his hands down to gently brush her hair away from her surprised face. "I thought you said you wanted to get to know me? To get.. closer." He leaned in closer to whisper the last part.
"Wh-What do you mean?" She was breathless at that point. This was a completely different man than who she first met.
He leaned in once more, his lips brushing against her ear. "You were the one who was so forward that day, I even put my mission aside just to spend the evening with you. You were practically begging to have me." He pulled back, smirking at her flushed face. "But then you had to go an blow me off. I tried contacting you multiple times over lacrima because I forgot to give you my last name, and you just ignored me."
She swallowed and blinked slowly, trying to clear her foggy mind. Her body felt so hot, she practically didn't recognize him. "Ignored? I never got a call from you. I thought you blew me off."
Rogue blinked, taking a step back and furrowing his brows. "Of course I would not do that. Perhaps you didn't have a lacrima after all?"
With her mind finally clear, she took a breath and pushed off of the wall. "I do have one, but I never got a call from you. I don't-" Her eyes widened and she slapped a hand on her forehead. She was such an idiot! She completely forgot that she left for three months! "I am so fucking sorry, Rogue." She groans and gives him a sheepish look. "This whole time I thought you hated me, but it was my fault all along."
He tilted his head. "What do you mean?"
She looked down sadly, her shoulders slumping. "My spirit took me to the Spirit World and it turns out time moves differently there. One day there is three months in the real world." She looks up at his shocked face. "I'm so sorry, I'm such a fool."
Rogue reached for her hand and gently held it in his. "It is alright, Lucy. I now understand. It was a painful three months, but I'm glad to have the answer now, knowing that I didn't do anything wrong. I'm glad you don't hate me."
Lucy gave him a bright smile and hugged him tightly. "I'm sorry for making you wait." When she pulled back, she raised an eyebrow at his flushed face. "You're embarrassed from a hug? Weren't you just all dominate like two minutes ago?"
Rogue's flush deepened and his eyes wandered everywhere but her. "W-Well, it was just the spur of the moment, my body moved on its own. I do apologize for it, truly!"
Lucy giggle and placed her hands on his chest. She leaned up to whisper against his cheek. "I liked it." She placed a kiss there before moving back with a grin, watching as his whole face turned red. "I'll see you around." She winked and walked away, giving a small wave.
She felt like she was on cloud nine as she was walking away. To think that he had different sides to him that he didn't even realize. It just made him that much more alluring. She wondered what he was like behind closed doors. Just the thought of how he can go from sweet and innocent to sexy and dominating sent a ripple of heat through her.
When she arrived back at the stand, she saw the final results and Gray angrily leaving. Her team explained her here what had happened, how Raven Tail targeted them specifically. She noticed that Sabertooth had gotten first and kind of wished she was there to whiteness the battle. Sting was so cocky about himself and his guild, she wanted to see what they were made of. If only she wasn't so... preoccupied.
Her name was called for the first one-on-one battle and she scowled when she heard she was facing Raven Tail. She'll show them what Fairy Tail was made of, she wouldn't forgive them for targeting their guild.
She walked on to the battle field and clenched her fists as the creepy red head walked closer. "Blondie~" She cooed.
A shiver ran up her spine at the creepy voice. She could do this, she would show everyone that Fairy Tail wasn't to be laughed at. She looked up and saw Rogue watching her with interest. Right, she would also show Rogue that she wasn't helpless, that it was just her making the wrong move that last time. She didn't need saving, and she would prove it to him.
I wrote like 80% of this at work lol
