Okay... Hi! Is the fandom dead? I don't even know... Man, I've been out for years. Anyway, sorry for the awkwardness. It has been two years since I wrote something at all.

Death Note is the first anime that I've ever watched and recently, after five years, I rewatched it and damn, it is still perfect to me. So, my muse, which has been dead for two years, came back. I hope you will enjoy the story, I am sorry if my writing isn't good, I am a bit (a lot) rusty.

Disclaimer: I do not own Death Note, Frozen, Rotg, yada yada yada, you know the drill. Also, there will be some spoilers from Death Note.

Chapter 1: Lucis et Mortis

Rumbling. No, she shouldn't have focussed on the rumbling, she hadn't reached her goal: she hadn't finished reading the case solution. Besides, after that, she had two more cases to analyse, 50 pages of reading and more slides to go through. She couldn't take a break now, she would need more of that later, she couldn't afford to waste her precious break…

When Elsa Arendelle's stomach growled again, this time much louder than before, she cursed loudly. She couldn't focus, how could she study if she couldn't concentrate? Her stupid stomach ached and demanded to be dealt with at once.

The young girl ran her hands that were cold due to anger and hunger, through her platinum blonde hair and sighed in incredible frustration. The fridge was empty as usual. She had to go to the supermarket, if she bought yoghurt and fruit she could quickly fill her stomach and resume her studies. Today, she at least had to finish those presentations and case analyses! She could leave the 50 pages of civil law reading for tomorrow... Of course, she would have to get up earlier, but she would rather sacrifice her sleep than fall behind in her studies.

"Elsa, god, will you answer me!?" shrieked a familiar voice, causing Elsa to flinch as a reflex and forcing her to shift her attention.

The young girl quickly got up from her chair, went to her room's door and opened it, thus, she found her best friend standing in front of her, crossing her arms with a slight frown on her round face.

"It is an honour to meet you, Your Highness." Astrid Hofferson said dully as she bowed at her sarcastically, "I've been calling you for a minute."

Elsa flashed an apologetic smile. "I've been obsessing about classes, I'm sorry," she mumbled softly, knowing full well that Astrid couldn't resist her 'cuteness'.

As soon as the word 'sorry' was out of her mouth, Astrid's facial muscles relaxed, a slight smile appeared on her face, and she tilted her head to the left, eyeing her best friend warily. "What class is driving you crazy?" she asked, unable to contain the amusement in her voice.

A look of resentment crossed Elsa's face. "That stupid state organization law is driving me crazy! The case question is whether a politician can be both a Member of Parliament and a Minister. According to Articles 20 and 66 of the German Constitution, at first, it seems impossible, but the interpretation of the law is so complex that it is perfectly legal. I find state organization law extremely politicised and therefore very manipulative, it drives me crazy!" she blurted out in one breath, then closed her mouth and clenched her jaw to silence herself. Her chest was rising and falling rapidly with excitement.

Astrid's smile turned into a cheeky smirk. She raised her index finger and pointed it at Elsa. "That's why I'm studying psychology instead of law, my friend," she replied playfully.

"Nevertheless, it is an important lesson. I have not yet grasped the way of thinking like a jurist, but it impresses me a lot. And even though I am only in the first month of my first semester... I feel smarter."

Astrid's playful demeanour faded as her expression turned serious. "I realise that... Look, I know you're having a hard time with your studies, but you're really cut out for law school. I know you can do it."

Elsa involuntarily dropped her gaze to the floor, a slight tremor of insecurity spreading through her body. She knew Astrid meant what she said, but she still couldn't believe it. Since she was 13 years old, it had been her dream to study law, and she had finally fulfilled that dream... But she was not sure she would succeed since she entered the university. She knew the classes would be hard, but she didn't expect them to go so fast...

"Elsa, please stop stressing yourself out... I'll tell you what, let's go to the school cafeteria and have lunch. I can't eat yoghurt for another morning/afternoon meal... My body needs warm, real food. And then we can go to the library afterwards."

Elsa fixed her deep blue eyes on Astrid's. Her blonde friend, as always, was quick to recognise her feelings. Normally she would have dwelled more on Elsa's insecurities about her studies, but this time she let the subject slide... Elsa couldn't have been more grateful. She needed to think about that issue alone.

"All right, let's go," she replied to her friend as she was snapping out off her thoughts, "I'm so hungry I could eat you."

Astrid bared her teeth and grinned, wiggling her eyebrow obscenely. "Oh Elsa, I always knew you were in love with me."

Elsa clapped both hands together and intertwined her fingers, looking up with an exaggeratedly amorous expression. "Of course, I always wanted a piece of that ass!"

Astrid burst out laughing and gently pushed her friend back into the room. "Okay, Miss Romantic, go change. And don't forget to comb your hair, it looks like a lion's mane!"

Elsa gestured her middle finger at her best friend and calmly closed the door in her face.

"Shame, shame!"

"Fuck off!" Elsa yelled cheerfully and turned round to change-

The smile on her face faded.

It had happened in a matter of milliseconds, but at the same time, it felt like the time had come to a halt. Since they have been staying in their student apartment only for a month and two weeks, they didn't have the opportunity to buy some curtains, so naturally, when she turned around, she involuntarily looked at the window... And that's when she saw a black object falling from the sky.

Elsa lived on the last floor of a sweet little German apartment complex.

The young girl's eyes widened. Was someone on the roof? She quickly left her room and went into the living room, from there she went out onto the balcony that connected to the window of her room and peered upwards. She could not see anyone on the roof. She lowered her head downwards, her eyebrows creased. In the courtyard of the house, on the lawn, lay a black object. From the distance between them, she could not discern what it was.

The young woman stepped out of the balcony with firm but rapid steps. At that moment Astrid called out from her room, the curiosity in her voice was apparent: "Elsa? Is everything all right?".

The platinum blonde answered without hesitation: "Yes... Tell you what, give me ten minutes, okay? I'll take out the trash."

"We can do it together-"

"I'll do it!"

Ignoring Astrid's protests, Elsa pulled on her winter coat, grabbed the bag of organic rubbish, put on her shoes and left the flat. After tossing the waste into the nearest bin, she hurried out into the courtyard.

Normally; she wasn't particularly a curious person, but who wouldn't find it exhilarating to watch an object fall from the sky out of nowhere!

When she came to the grassy area where the mysterious object had fallen, her steps became heavier as an unwarranted excitement and fear filled her, she could feel the adrenaline pumping through her veins.

The object lying on the ground was indeed black... Elsa shivered involuntarily when she touched the smooth object and finally felt it between her fingers. It was a notebook...

The young woman turned over the notebook to examine its other side.

Death Note

This was written in the top centre of the notebook in a unique fonto she had never seen before. Elsa couldn't help but bite her lip to prevent herself from cringing. It was a bit of an edgy name, to be honest.

She succumbed to her curiosity and decided to open the notebook. Admittedly, it may not have been the right thing to skim through someone's notebook, but maybe she could find a name so that she could return it to its owner! After all, what harm could a little sneak peek do?

When she flipped to the first page of the notebook, what she found was unexpected.

The human whose name is written in this note shall die. This note will not take effect unless the writer has the subject's face in mind when writing his/her name. This is to prevent people who share the same name from being affected.

Elsa held her breath. There were pages and pages of rules written in that odd font. While the font was white, the pages were pitch black, just like the cover of the notebook. There was a table of contents and the rules were divided into headings... It reminded the young woman of the legal codes that she had been struggling with for the last few weeks.

After the rules were finished, the pages turned white and were lined like a typical notebook.

There was only one name on the notebook... Yagami Light.

Elsa inhaled and exhaled deeply, eventually remembering that her lungs needed oxygen.

Who the hell was Light Yagami?!

So… Did you like it? I hope it was a good start and I hope I'll write a second chapter soon. Take care!
