Chapter 27-Becoming the man

A year ago

Simon's P.O.V

Simon walked through the Sanctuary and stared at the men eating. He looked at the large man as he walked up to him. "Simon," He says. The man stood over six feet. He wore a brown leather jacket and had short dark brown hair and eyes. On his hip were a bowie knife and a desert eagle.

"What's up, Luke?" Simon asks the leader of the Santuarcy.

"We just found three more. Two men and a woman. Between us, that woman is real pretty. I might take her one of these nights, and have some fun."

"You've fucked every other woman here. Gotta bag the new one."

"That's right, man," Luke says. "They're starting to learn. The men protect them and do the work. They keep the men happy. It's the way of life. Anyways, show them around, see what you can find out, and tell them how this place works. They are waiting outside," Luke tells the man, who nods.

Simon walks outside and looks at Negan, Laura, and Laura's father, Franklin. "Welcome to the Santuarcy," Simon says.

"Thanks," Negan says. "I'm Negan, this is Laura, and that's Franklin."

"I'm Simon," Simon says. "You've met the boss."

"Yeah, between us, kind of a prick."

"You won't find me disagreeing," Simon says. "Come on. I'll show you around," They nod as they follow him into the Santuarcy. "Things are very simple around here. The men do the work, and the women keep the men happy."

"Keep them happy?" Negan growls.

"You don't need to ask, you know."

"If you think I'm going to be a whore, I'll cut that man's dick off," Laura growls.

"We can't change it. The man here, he has fear, and that is what a man needs to control these people," Simon says. "He isn't the leader I'd choose, but he keeps us alive."

"What else do we need to know?" Negan asks.

"That's all, do that and you'll be fine."

Negan's P.O.V

A week later

Negan sat in a room with Franklin and Laura. "These guys are a bunch of pricks," Negan growls.

"We can't stay here," Franklin says. "I won't stay here, not in a place like this."

"Then let's make it better," Negan says. "We've all seen how this place runs. That asshole runs it. You take him out. They'll fall in line. I can do that. I can kill him, take this place over, make it better. I've had a couple of drinks with Luke. I can get another one with him and kill him. Just be ready," Negan says as he leaves the room. Laura and Franklin watch him. None of them know about the man listening around the corner who pulls out his radio. Negan walks to Luke's room and knocks on the door.

"Negan, what can I do for you?" Luke asks.

"I could use a drink," Negan says.

"Come on in," Luke says. "I could have a nice girl brought in."

"Not right now, just had my fill," Negan lies.

"Alright," Luke says as he pours him a drink. "You know, I like you. You understand how the world is now, that we all have a job to do, us men, we do ours, and the women do theirs. But I did need to talk to you."

"About what?" Negan asks.

"Laura," He answers. "She doesn't understand how things are. A few of our guys have asked her to play her role, and she hurts them. I need you to talk with her, make her understand how the world works."

"I'll make sure she understands," Negan says as he finishes his glass. Negan stands up and walks towards the whiskey, but Luke grabs his arm and throws him on the table. He removes his desert eagle and aims it at him. "What the fuck is this?"

"I have ears everywhere," Luke growls. "Your two friends are already being rounded up," Luke says before he kicks him in the face knocking him out.

Laura's P.O.V

Laura, Negan, and Franklin sat on their knees by the fence. "These people have betrayed us. They do not understand how the world works. Do not understand the rules in the world. So first, we're going to kill these two, and then we're going to make sure this bitch understands her role, and she'll complete that until the day she dies."

"If you touch my daughter, I will tear your head off," Franklin growls. "I will kill you, I swear!" Franklin is silenced as Luke swiftly removes his Desert Eagle and shoots Franklin in the head.

"Dad!" Laura cries out as his body falls to the ground and blood leaks out of his head.

"He talked too much," Luke says. "How about you?" Luke asks Negan, who glares up at him.

"I'm going to kill you," Negan says. "You'll die slowly, begging,"

"She's going to be the one screaming," Luke says as he raises his gun to Negan's head. Gunshots go off behind him, taking out Luke's men, and a bullet goes through Luke's side, sending him to the ground. Simon walks out with a dozen men.

"Your reign is over," Simon says as he kicks Luke in the side and takes his gun. He looks at Negan. "There's a new king," Simon says as he holds his hand out to Negan, who takes it. "Give the man his bat,"

Jared nods as he hands Negan the bat. He looks at Laura. "It's your kill,"

Laura takes the bat and stands her over, and brings it back down on Luke's head, and she continues to do it until his head is nothing but flesh and blood.

"You giving me leadership?" Negan asks.

"I'm not much of the type."

Negan smiles. "Why?"

"Because I just have a feeling that you understand the world better," Simon says. "Prove me right."

Negan's P.O.V

Negan stood on top of the catwalk staring at the men. "Now that the prick is dead, I'm going to turn the Santuarcy into what it is meant to be. Now, before we do this, does anybody disagree with this?"

"I do," A man says.

"Good," Negan smiles. "Simon," Simon grabs the man and throws him to the ground in front of the furnace. "Is it ready?"

"It is, boss," Simon says. "Tie him up," He tells Jared, who nods.

"Now, the world has fallen into chaos, and I am the man who is meant to lead us back to a world that makes sense," Negan says. "So let's set some ground rules. One, no more rape. If these women want to have sex with you, then that's okay. If I find anybody trying to rape a woman, I'll kill you. Everybody has to contribute, if you don't, you'll work, and you'll wish you were dead, and if you betray me, I'll kill you just like Luke, but I'm going to make an example," Negan says as he grabs the gloves and puts them on and grabs the iron and walks up to the man.

"What's your name?" Negan asks.

"John," He answers.

"Wrong," Negan says. "I am the man who needs to lead us back to the old world. I'm the savior. We're the saviors," Negan says as he moves the iron closer to his John's face. "What is your name?"

"John," He growls.

"Wrong, you're Negan," Negan says. "You're all Negan," Negan says as he presses the iron against John's face making the man scream in pain and he pulls the iron off after a couple of moments and sets it down. He looks at Simon. "Who are you?" He growls as he points Lucille at him.

"Negan," Simon says with a small smile. He looks at Laura.

"Who are you?"

"Negan," Laura answers after a moment, and he looks at Jared.

"Who are you?"

"Negan," Jared says as he looks at the saviors.

"Who are you!?"

"Negan," They say after a moment, and Negan grins. "On your knees."

The men look around as Negan grabs John by his hair and lifts it up. "On your knees," Negan says with a smile. They fall to their knees. "This is how we keep each other alive. I expect this when I am around. One more time, who are you?"

"Negan," They all say.

Two weeks later

Negan smiled at the saviors as they ate and worked. "Negan," Simon says as he walks up to him. Negan looks at him and miles. "That old fuck, Frankie's dad, was caught stealing."

"Bring her to my room. Let me talk to her first," Negan says as he walks away, and Simon nods.

Negan sat in his chair and looked at the door at Frankie as she walked in. "Your Dad was caught stealing pills."

"He needs them."

"Then he should have earned the points," Negan says. "You know what has to happen to him."

"Please, Negan. He needs them. I'll do anything to keep him safe, to get him the pills."

Negan smiles. "You know I was married before all of this. I did whatever I could to help my wife, ask Laura. So if we were to be married, I'd take care of you and my new father-in-law."

"Are you asking me to marry you to save my father?" Frankie asks Negan, who nods.

"Yes, I'll give you a better life than anybody here. You have two choices. What is your choice."

"I'll marry you," Frankie says after a moment of silence. Negan grins.

Two months later

Negan climbed out of bed and looked at Frankie, who was lying in bed naked. Negan put his clothes on and grabbed Lucille. He walked through the Sanctuary and outside. He looks at the guard. "Give me a minute," Negan tells the guard, who nods as he walks inside, and Negan walks over to Franklin's grave. "Only if you kept your mouth shut a little bit longer, huh buddy," Negan says as he stares at the cross huh. "I don't think you'd agree with how I do things, especially not the wife, and I plan on getting more, but you know, Luke had a point, even if he was a dumbass. They need to understand how the world work. I don't believe that women are used to keep us happy shit. Some of my best soldiers are women, but if everybody understands how shit works. Life is so much easier," Negan says with a smirk. "Don't worry. I'll keep her safe, she's a strong girl, and I'll keep your dream alive. I'll save people," Negan says as he taps Lucille against the cross.

"Negan," Negan looks at the door and at Simon.

"What?" Negan asks.

"We got another one?"

"Who?"

"Tanya," Simon says.

Negan grins as he follows Simon inside.

Thanks for reading. I really enjoyed this chapter. Doing a backstory for these three was really fun, and maybe I'll do some more and explain Hallowbrant better. I don't know yet. .
