Chapter Twelve "Let me Castrate you!"
"What's new, RT-1?" I asked the small holographic me floating over my desk.
"Could you please think of a better name? As computer illiterate as most of you are, part of you is an spirit hacker so you know I'm a perfect copy of your neural pathways and thought patterns. I have your memories too, so I'm just you sans a body. Just be thankful the changes are enough to keep me sane and cooperative despite the existential anxiety of knowing I'm a copy..." The hologram complained with my voice.
"I didn't know I was a drama queen. There's no proof of you being soulless. After all, the very fact we can trade places should be proof enough, right?"
"Fi~ine. Speaking of, when are we doing that again? I miss Shirou's touch, so could you at the very least download your latest memories unto me soon? I also miss his food."
"...God, I'm pretty sure I'm not you levels of horny so where did that come from? You don't even have the right glands or bits to get aroused in the first place!"
"I guess I must indeed have a soul if I can yearn for things outside my supposed limits. Come on, I'm not even asking you to trade places with me, I just want a memory update including sexy bedroom time! I already got the audio and video, I just want the tactile data!"
I glared at RT-1. "Don't make me go over there and beat you."
"Try it, I dare you." She laughed evilly. "See who's the one to get smacked around."
I sighed. I wanted to deny it, but RT-1 was correct. The electronic world is the domain of my ego clones. Their home ground advantage was undeniable, and my abilities as an Spirit Hacker or denizen of the electronic world would amount to a child against an adult if I tried to fight them there.
"Please just... hand over today's report. I'll drop last night into the cloud so you can copy those if you want." I groaned while covering my face and wondering how come my copy manages to continue to blackmail me into compliance.
"Here ya' go."
Streams of data entered my mind. The first time had caused me to black out in pain, but nowadays its more like a soft punch to the head. It would have been worse without the implants most Spirit Hackers receive to boost our abilities when interfacing with electronics.
Going through the report, I felt grateful for the RTs (short for Rin Tohsaka, of course). Without them, the company would probably be a hundredth the size it is today.
I wonder, is what I felt for the RTs how a Heroic Spirit within the Throne of Heroes feels about their Servant copies?
Idle thoughts aside, I start reading through the report that had properly uploaded into my mind.
"Please thank the other RTs." I hummed happily after reading the very detailed report. Almost 100 GBs of data that had attachments presented in such a way that it quickly fades into my short-term memory, with important bits lingering for my attention, yet all of it is available for me to check on a whim. My company's recent push for the development and marketing of huntsmen-targeted goods and services is doing better than expected.
"Has any of the RTs become a qualified soulogist (Soulogy aka the study of the soul) yet? We should be better at enhancing the abilities of huntsmen by now, considering the resources invested."
RT-1 shook her head. "Becoming a properly trained Soulogist isn't an easy task. The complexity of souls is only second to True Magic. The time and effort needed to earn a PhD in a standard medical field would be barely equivalent to someone receiving an undergraduate degree in Soulogy, you know? And before you ask, no we can't take advantage of the faster time rate of the virtual world since we still need to ineract with real-time souls."
I sighed, but had to agree. All thing related to the human soul were naturally complex, but offering safe and reliable spiritual surgery and healing will be a massive boost to the huntsmen of Remnant.
For a moment, I considered ditching my efforts at going back to Earth and focusing instead on bringing over just one mage with a Soulogy degree.
"How's our genetic research into Remnant's humans and faunus going?"
"Do you want the full report, or just a verbal summary?"
"The later, please."
"The genetic differences between the inhabitants of Earth and Remnant are minute enough that neither you, Shirou, or any of your descendants should have issues in breeding with them."
"B-breeding!" I actually feel my face going red. "You don't have to phrase it like that!" I snapped and needed a moment to calm down. "Is the compatibility check for food and drugs complete? Can we ingest the same things, use the same meds? We won't go into pulmonary or cardiac arrest by trying out a local green shrimp, right?"
"You should be pretty safe. On the other hand, some rare exceptions with synthesized substances that are safe for Shirou and you are indeed toxic for the locals." replied RT-1.
"Well, it could have been wor-"
"Rin!" Shirou shouted through our mind-link. "How do you think we should respond to this?" He asked while sending me the relevant memories.
"I take it this is Ruby's mother? She does share a strong resemblance to her." I asked while raising a brow.
"Yes, the woman is Summer Rose, Ruby's biological mother."
"Please excuse me, RT-1." My virtual clone nodded and disappeared. "Why are you asking me what to do? Of course we have to stop Summer from harming Ozpin!"
"Rin, can you imagine what it would be like to have been in isolation for a decade?"
I shuddered just imagining such a thing. My mind was about to ask for evidence when I stopped it. Shirou didn't have to say it. He had found information in a similar manner countless times. He knew by reading Summer's weapon with Unlimited Blade Works.
"Well even so she can't ju-"
"Ruby and Yang were deprived of their mother's love and care as they grew up. And she believes her daughters have been taking part in sex rituals within Beacon..."
"Oh… Well if you put it that way then…." ~ My blood started to burn as I imagined myself in Summer's shoes. "Well... as long as Ozpin's life is not in danger, I guess she's enttled to vent. We can later re-attach or regenerate anything as needed."
"Rin, did I ever mention how scary you are?"
"You must be joking, Shirou~" I smiled. "Oh, I should let Ruby and Yang hear about this!"
~ O ~
Summer Rose hadn't joked when she threatened to castrate Ozpin. She was really this close to the deed. She'd gone through various kinds of hell that would have broken a lesser woman.
"Summer," ~ Glydna's familiar voice called as she stood protectively between Summer and Ozpin. "Calm down and explain. Dear Brothers, we thought you were dead!"
"Glynda, he has a lot to suffer for!" Summer snarled.
"Summer," Ozpin gently pushed aside a protesting Glynda. "You've misunderstood. I didn't know you were still alive. Everyone thought you had died."
"You can't fool me, Ozpin!" Summer snarled. "I got your message through our secure channel you reserved only for emergencies. It said that you had found my people's ancestral home and wanted me to train my natural abilities as a Silver Eyed Warrior."
"You went there?!" Ozpin shouted in alarm. "I warned you to stay away!"
If Summer had been the same trusting woman she was before she left, she may have believed him.
"Stop the charade, Ozpin," growled Summer. "The codes you used to 'request' me to train at the Silver Eyed Warrior Fortress was something only we knew of."
Ozpin was confused. He seemed so shocked by her statement that Summer had the creeping feeling he really didn't know what was going on. 'No, that can't be right!' Summer furiously shook her head. She knew that Ozpin had reincarnated for thousands of years and experienced just about everything a mortal could. There's no man alive that could compare to him as an actor and a liar!
The moment Summer decided to believe him, that's when she'd fall into his schemes again! She'd already missed watching her baby girl growing up, there's no way she wasn't going to make him answer for that!
"Uhm I hate to interrupt, but what is this Silver Eyed Warrior Fortress that is constantly being mentioned about?" asked Glynda.
That was just random enough that Summer calmed down a little (just a little) since she too wanted to hear what Ozpin knew about her ancestral home. She had indeed learned many things, but the place was massive, and there were plenty of places she hadn't been able to enter thanks to the seals (Bounded Fields?) in the place.
Ozpin sighed. He really wanted to kiss Glynda for deescalating the situation, if just a little.
"The Silver Eyed Warrior Fortress was home for a group of warriors blessed by the Brother God of Light, making them extremely effective against the Grimm. They were a major factor on treating the Grimm as little more than pests in Remnant's ancient past." Ozpin explained.
"Stop trying to distract me, Ozpin! I'm still gelding you, you ass."
"Summer, you can't!" Three voices Summer had only dreamed or hallucinated about for the better part of a decade screamed at her as her teammates burst into the room.
Summer dropped the scythe in her hands, stuttering as they hugged her.
"Summer we missed you!"
"Where were you been all this time?"
"Ruby and Yang will love to see you."
Summer's former teammates showered her with questions as she sobbed and tried to reply. It took quite a while to finally calm her down.
"Hey, Summer you said you wanted to castrate Ozpin right?" asked Raven as she draw out her katana. "Let's make it into a team building thing! I also have a grudge with him, you know? My reputation was ruined thanks to him."
"I'll help," Taiyang growled as he began equipping his gauntlets. "Let's add crushed balls into the menu."
"Ozpin, I don't know what you were thinking about, locking her away like that. Let's see if my Semblance, Misfortune, might help for once." Qrow snarled as he drew his sword from his back pouch and got ready to possibly decapitate his former superior.
"Team STRQ please calm down and think abou-"
"Hell with THAT!" Team STRQ screamed as they launched themselves at Ozpin.
~ O ~
I was stumped, watching from Shirou's point of view as Summer, Taiyang, Raven and Qrow charged Ozpin in unison. They moved with such grace and teamwork only a few renowned groups that had been forged through battles and trials could match. Team STRQ reminded me of when the greek Argonauts or british Knights of the Round Table worked together.
The newly reunited friends moved swiftly like the wind and when their teamwork was so amazing.
Even so, their attack failed to reach Beacon's headmaster. Sure, they attacked like a raging river, but Ozpin's defenses were like those of a boulder in the middle of said river, blocking and deflecting everywhere at once.
Well, I see he truly earned his position as Beacon's headmaster, and from what I saw, I have the impression Ozpin may be Remnant's most skilled and experienced huntsman. As wonderful as Aura and Semblances are, he was the only Remnant native I believe to be at Servant level. Of course, I'm talking about skill and experience-wise only. Obviously he has no Noble Phantasm or advanced enough magecraft nor magic.
"He would have ranked in the high end of Chaldea roster in the power department if he hadn't weakened." Shirou spoke in my mind, almost as if he heard my thoughts. "We're mind-linked Rin, I am literally hearing you think." he replied smugly.
"Weakened?" I responded, wishing that I was there. As convenient as watching through my husband's eyes can be, I had a much wider array of skills and ways to measure someone's potential.
"I didn't know until Ozpin picked up his cane, but it is a Mystic Code. In fact, it's a Noble Phantasm, the only one I've seen in Remnant that hadn't been outright destroyed, damaged beyond repair or buried with their owner. Its name is Long Memory, and it has been used for thousands of years by Ozpin's numerous reincarnations."
The fact that Shirou hadn't used Structural Grasp on Ozpin's cane wasn't that much of a surprise. It isn't as if he goes around scanning every ashtray, chair, crutch and walking sticks he comes across. Unlimited Blade Works only worked to copy and store a weapon inside the Reality Marble if Shirou was consciously aware it was a weapon in the first place.
I brushed the fact that Shirou hadn't noticed Ozpin cane was a weapon and became interested by Long Memory's history.
"So he reincarnates. Are you saying Ozpin has become physically or magically weaker over his reincarnations?"
"That's right."
I wasn't surprised that Ozpin was immortal. On Earth, immortals existed, though you couldn't call them common. Many of the most powerful individuals in the magical side were centuries, if not thousands of years old.
What amazed me was Ozpin's personality, as most of those that had gained immortality through reincarnation more often than not lose their humanity over time. Someone reincarnating multiple times and maintaining it the way Ozpin had shown? That was ridiculously rare.
"Really? How powerful was Ozpin at his peak?"
"It's hard to tell. According to Long Memory's history, Ozpin picked it up when he no longer had the magic power to use his original staff, but even back then his stats would have been A rank, if he was a Servant. I think that, at his peak, he would have been S or maybe S+ across the board."
I began to sweat. How powerful had Ozpin really been? That would mean that, as his prime, he would've matched Chaldea's strongest Servants, wouldn't it? Powerful enough to level city blocks with a single attack, and a whole city in a few minutes. In my time as Ishtar's host, I myself could create a conceptual copy of Venus that could crush mountains with casual ease, or simply call for the nation destroying Gugalanna.
"How strong is Ozpin now?" I asked nervously.
"In his current state, he'd rank as a Pride by the Mage's Association's ranking system." Shirou replied, much to my relief.
I let out my breath. A Pride was someone of my rank. Ozpin might be potentially stronger than me, but it wasn't to the point that my aces couldn't earn me a win in a hypothetical conflict.
In fact, I had strong confidence in being stronger than the current Ozpin. I ranked as a Pride before ending up in Remnant, and after several years on Remnant, I'd almost certainly qualify as a Brand, the strongest and highest rank a magus could hold, matching the might of a Clock Tower lord.
Suddenly, I laughed haughtily as I recalled the various mages and Servants I had encountered during my time in Chaldea. Many had applauded my potential, and assured me I'd rank pretty high within the top hundred mages in the entirety of the Clock Tower's two thousand year history. I could imagine myself reaching the Clock Tower's highest rank: Grand. A mage powerful enough to destroy an entire nation on their own.
"That assumed you'd train for several more decades, Rin." Shirou chuckled.
"Don't ruin the mo~od!" I growled. Well, if Shirou's magical output and Od reserves wasn't limited by the number of his Magic Circuits, then destroying cities and nations was well within his grasp. "I'll catch up to you eventually without having to rely on Ishtar's help or extras like my gems!"
"Uhmm, so violent. Luvia would make some gorilla comment to that." Shirou laughed. "Also, I discovered something unexpected." I suddenly felt as if something bad was going to happen. "A major reason for Ozpin beginning to regain his strength are the Tantric rituals that you taught in your class."
"Argh, I don't want to hear it! Lalala~a! I can't hear you!" I screamed while pulling at my precious hair in frustration, deeply regretting ever teaching tantric rituals that was normally a taboo subject not taught in conventional magecraft classes and instead behind closed doors were adults mixed fun and sex together with magecraft to spice things up.
"Well, he also tried more conventional methods to raise his physical and magical might."
I sighed in relief at hearing that news. If the conventional methods were working for him, I expected Ozpin to encourage others into doing the same. I really wished for tantric rituals to be forgotten and never to be brought up again. I'm definitively not teaching it to next year's class!
"We've gotten side-tracked for long enough…" Shirou muttered, his light-hearted mood turning serious. "We've been talking about Ozpin so far, but what do you think about Team STRQ?"
"Raven is the most dangerous, at least when it comes to fighting humans." I observed as Raven's movements were the most fluid and devastating within team STRQ. "Her Maiden powers grant her natural affinity with a diverse range of elemental magic without going through formal training, yet it'd definitively improve her skills."
"Her Semblance could be further refined. I've read Raven's file and her original Semblance was called Kindred's Link, which allowed her to create portals to people she has a strong emotional connection with, even over vast distances. Now that magecraft has entered her life, she's found a natural affinity for spatial magic."
I looked at Raven with an appraising eye. Time and space were amongst the hardest branches in magecraft to train in, and diligent effort was no guarantee someone could ever move past theories and into practice. If she really had a talent for it, it'd be a crime to let it go to waste. Honestly, I wasn't sure if it was the influence of her semblance over her soul, or the other way around, with her soul's Spirit Origin defining her Semblance, but it'd be a shame to leave her untrained.
"Summer is no doubt the strongest if we put her against the Grimm. Her Sorcery Trait and Mystic Eyes (known simply as Silver Eyes by Remnant) are a natural counter to them." Shirou observed while reading the history in Summer's scythe, Reaping.
"She is the fastest and most agile member of Team STRQ, which she passed onto Ruby." I noted.
"If we are talking about gifts inherited from their parents… Its obvious where Yang inherited her strength from."
I laughed. Taiyang was obviously the (physically) strongest member of STRQ. His punches have so much force that their aftershock left in the wake of his attacks was enough to cause the concrete of the floor and walls to crack.
"Qrow interests me the most." I remarked while tracking Qrow's movements. "He is an experienced fighter with room to grow. His Semblance, Misfortune, is basically wasted since he can't control it. If his Semblance and Origin are related, he would make a perfect Curse mage."
Shirou shuddered and I could understand why. The danger of curses was high because of how subtle and effective they can be, imbuing a concept like "weakening" or the obviously more dangerous concepts like "death". Furthermore, curses are difficult to defend against because Mystic Codes and spells to defend against them were rare compared to those defending against physical and non-curse related magical attacks.
"If Qrow was able to conceptualize his Semblance (Misfortune) into a Conceptual Weapon, there would be almost no defense against it."
"Qrow could become everyone's worst nightmare." Shirou agreed as I sensed his discomfort through our mind-link.
I eyed Harbringer, Qrow's weapon that could shift between a sword, shotgun and a scythe, with great curiosity. If Qrow was able to go down in history as a legendary huntsman I didn't doubt Harbringer powers as a Noble Phantasm would be related to its owner's Semblance.
"Raven's Omen is a more dangerous as spatial abilities are difficult to defend against."
I nodded in agreement and watched as Team STRQ's constant offensive finally come to an end and they were forced into the defensive as Ozpin finally began to attack, his moves targeting the individual weaknesses of his younger opponents.
"Ozpin is a great teacher. I wonder how he'd rate against Chiron or Merlin in their ability to nurture talent?" I wondered while watching Ozpin pushing Team STRQ on the defensive while lecturing his former students.
"Ozpin is enjoying it too much." Shirou chuckled as Ozpin demolished Team STQR.
"I would too if I anyone was going to threaten to castrate me." I responded while bringing my legs together and my hands went unconsciously towards my womanhood while remembering the phantom pain of a male organ, which wasn't there right now, that I had experienced few times due to an accident or prank.
Our eyes widened as Ruby and Yang came into the room right as Summer screamed, "Stop resisting and let me castrate you, Ozpin!"
