Time jump:

Eddie stood by the back door watching Emilian playing around with Chris. Well, more like Chris riding Emilian's back like a horse. After telling him what he was, they decided it was best to let Chris know as well. Luckily his son understood what it meant to keep a secret, even from Buck. His mind wandered back to the day Emilian told and showed him what he truly was.

Flashback:

"Edmundo I am sorry." Emilian walked out of the kitchen with a warm soaked towel. "I don't know what came over me. No scratch that I do know, but I believed I could keep it under control." Placing that towel over the bite on Eddie's shoulder, he growled at seeing his mark. "I wasn't planning for this to happen." In the heat of their make-out session, Eddie had straddled his lap. Emilian lost control the second Eddie bared his neck. "Don't take that off."

"I don't mind the biting, but did you have to break the skin." Running his finger over the bite he winced at the slight ache. "How am I going to keep this covered?"

The wolf looked over at him with a pained look. "Covered?"

"You want me to walk around with an open wound?" Eddie scoffed.

Stepping closer to him, he placed a hand over the bite. "Don't cover it."

Turning around to face the taller man, Eddie raised a brow. "I have to keep it covered. You broke the skin, it can get infected." Walking past the man, he was suddenly pushed back against the wall. Eddie glared up at him only to falter at seeing the bright yellow eyes staring back at him. Gone were his bright blue eyes. "Wh-"

Stepping away slowly he kept his head down. Cursing himself for losing control if only for that second. "I have to go."

"No!" Eddie ran to block the front door. "What was that?"

"Ed, move."

"Not until you tell me." Eddie crossed his arms standing his ground. "What's with the bite and eyes?"

Emilian ran his hand through his hair as a sign of frustration. How does one tell their lover their biggest secret? That you have the ability to turn into a wolf? Able to kill a man with pure strength in your hand. "Eddie, It's not that I don't want to tell. It's that I don't know-how. The fear of you running away when you find out."

"That bad?" Eddie chuckled. "How about you just tell me and we will go from there."

"Let me show you instead." If there was one thing he learned about Edmundo, it was that the man didn't believe unless it was in front of his eyes. "Sit on the couch." Doing as he was told, Emilian stripped down to his boxers. Standing on the other side of the room he closed his eyes, giving the wolf control of his body.

Eddie froze at seeing a light surround Emilian, within seconds it was gone. Confused he looked towards the ground to find a gray wolf staring back at him. The same yellow eyes from before. "No." Crawling higher up the couch, he shook his head. "There is no fucken way!" Seeing the wolf walk towards him, Eddie jumped off the couch taking cover behind it. "Emilian stop!"

'I knew this would happen.' Dropping his head with a whine, he laid on the floor. 'I am not going to hurt Eddie.'

"Wh-what?" Looking around he pinned his eyes on the wolf. "I can hear you? How? How is any of this possible?"

'This is what I am.' Emilian said. 'I'm a wolf.'

End of flashback:

It took him a few weeks before he came around to the idea. Before that Emilian kept that side of him locked away. At least while he was around Eddie. It wasn't long to figure out what Emilian's connection was to Bobby, but he sure as well wasn't expecting what he was told. Yet in a way, the captain seemed to be doing the title justice. Eddie has been wondering what Bobby's wolf looked like.

Emilian was a tall gray and white wolf. His fur was semi-long from his shoulders and down his body. But from the top of his neck down to his chest and underbelly, he had a short mane. Emilian usually argues that it isn't a mane, but honestly, to Eddie, it reminded him of a lion's mane.

Glancing down at his phone he noticed the time. Athena should be ending her shift soon. Bobby still had a few hours to go. Walking back into the kitchen he warmed up some of the leftovers and got them ready for her.

Emilian walked in with Chris on his shoulders. "The young pup is thirsty for some juice."

"In the fridge." He rolled his eyes at seeing Emilian kneel and grab the juice, all while keeping Chris on his shoulders. "He can walk."

"He likes the shoulder rides." Was the response he got. "What time are Athena and Bobby back?"

"Athena should be home in 20. As for Bobby, he isn't getting back until early morning." Seeing his phone vibrate across the counter, he glanced at the name. "That's her." Answering the call, he placed it on speaker. "Hey, on your way? Emilian mi-"

'Bobby's been shot!' Both males froze at the words hitting them like a bomb. Neither is able to move or speak. Athena's panicked voice broke through this shock. 'Diaz!'

"Y-Yeah I'm here." He looked up at his son, seeing the fear in his eyes. "Is he-uh-Is he?"

'He's alive, but he insisted on calling Emilian.'

Eddie winced at hearing Bobby growl through the phone. "What hospital?"

"No!" Snatching the phone he walked into the living room and gently lowered Chris to the couch. "Bring him here."

Moments earlier:

He should have listened to his instincts. He should have walked out with his team. Bobby hadn't picked up on any scent. The fire made it impossible to do so. He had been fooled with the fake body. He should have heard the steps behind him. The gun cocking. The heavy breathing. But instead, he failed in everything, letting him get the drop. Now he sat on the floor of a burning building, with a bullet in his side. Glancing down at his hand he growled at seeing the blood flowing freely.

"How many more of you are there?" The hunter he had learned to be named Aaron demanded. "How many roam this city freely? Infesting the world with your curse!"

Bobby swallowed the lump trapped in his throat. "I don't know what you're talking about. More of what?" The kick to the side knocked the wind out of him. Falling to his side, he rested his head on the ground. The wolf was begging to be loose, but that was exactly what this man wanted. He wanted to see the animal before killing it. Bobby was not going to give him the satisfaction.

Aaron crouched down, holding the gun in front of him. "You can deny it all you want. But you see that bullet in you was designed for your kind. The serum inside will slowly begin spreading through your bloodstream. Its only purpose is reaching the heart and freezing it." Pushing Bobby onto his back, he smirked at the blood. "Got you on the side. Oh man, that's going to a very slow and painful. Who knows you might be lucky and the fire will kill you first."

Hearing a set of footsteps coming towards them, he inhaled deeply. Gasoline. Wood burning. Roses. His eyes widen realizing who it was. Looking up at the grinning man, Bobby knew he had heard her as well. How? He wasn't sure, but he was waiting for her.

"Take another step and I'll rush his death." Aiming his gun at the wolf's head he turned to face the newcomer. "Take the mask off."

"Don't" Bobby wheezed at the kick he got to the abdomen. "Don't do it."

"Shut up!" He gave the wolf a kick to the jaw.

Athena jerked forward holding herself back at the shake of the head Bobby gave her. She had hoped to catch him by surprise. How he knew she was there was beyond her. Looking at Bobby, she was worried by the pool of blood at his side. "What do you want?"

"I want them all to die!" He made it sound as if it was the most obvious thing. "They are an abomination. Things that don't deserve to live." He tilted his head to the side studying that woman in front of him. "You. You smell like him." A wicked smile appeared on his face. "You must be his mate. My have the gods smiled upon me today."

Bobby's eyes widen at seeing the gun turn away from him and towards Athena. It is fear that brings rage, that hot-burning anger that seeks to harm. It is a biological button better left alone. When we see something that frightens us, a primitive part of the brain is activated to produce aggression. So, when you see all the things around you that make you scared... you're being deliberately triggered... as are others. That rage destroys us from the inside and corrupts our sense of community into one of competition and suspicion.

Using that rage boiling to a peak he jumped, shifting just before pouncing on the man's back. The hunter stumbled forward, quickly gathering his footing once more.

From the shadows comes a wolf, yet he's no ordinary predator. He moves to block any access to the Sargent, staring with almost human eyes. The only sound either could focus on was his breathing, his flaring nostrils as he takes in the hunter's scent. He curls up his gums to reveal blood-stained teeth and then lets out a low rumbling growl. Aaron already knows his fate, in seconds his throat will be ripped out, his flesh consumed, blood staining the dirty cemented ground.

Growling at the hunter Bobby leaped towards him. His paws landed on his shoulders, knocking him to the ground. His rage wasn't so much for what he had done to him, but because of the threat, he made towards his mate. Lunging forward he bit down on the man's chest, clawing at his abdomen. The screams of agony fueled him to continue his attack. He wanted him to suffer. Rip him to pieces.

Athena was stunned in place. One moment her husband was bleeding on the ground and the next a black wolf stood between them. This can't be right, right? The smoke was causing her to hallucinate scenarios. But those screams. Those were real. So was the blood and growling. That's what caused her to react. Regardless of Bobby being whatever he was, he wasn't a killer. He wasn't someone that would take pleasure in harming another being, no matter what they have done to deserve it. That was more her domain.

"Bobby!" Athena yelled over the screams.

The wolf stopped turning to face her with a growl. He had been ready to snap at her when he saw the worried look on her. Taking in her scent he picked up on fear as well. She was scared of him. The hunter was forgotten at that moment. Laying on his stomach with a low whine, he crawled towards hers. Catching the step back he stopped and decided to shift back. Stupidly he forgot about the wound bleeding out. Before he could say and word Bobby fell to his knees.

"Athena."

Hearing the weakness in his voice, she sprinted forward to catch him. "I got you." Laying him down on his back, she placed her hand over the bullet wound. "This is Sargent Grant. I need an RA immediately. Captain Nash has been shot."

'We're coming Athena.' Hen's voice sent a wave of relief over her.

"Helps coming." She whispered.

Bobby raised a hand to cup her jaw. "I couldn't let him hurt you."

"I know. I know Bobby." Covering his hand with hers, she kissed the inside of it.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Loading him up into the ambulance, Hen worked on stopping the bleeding. "Chim get us to the nearest hospital. I can't stop the bleeding!"
"No!" Bobby's hands grabbed onto her arm. "Call Emilian."
"I'll call him as soon as we get there." Athena assured him. "They need to stop the bleeding first."
He shook his head vigorously. "No hospital." Trying to sit up he was pushed back down. "Take me to Emilian."
"Bobby, we don't know what that bullet hit." Hen snapped. "You are bleeding out! We keep wasting time and you will die!"
Glancing at Athena he begged her. "Please, trust me."
With a stiff nod, she called Eddie. "Bobby's been shot." Getting no response she began getting impatient. "Diaz!"
'Y-Yeah I'm here. Is he-uh-Is he?'
"He's alive, but he insisted on calling Emilian." Athena jumped at the growl coming from her husband.
'What hospital?'
'No.' Some movement was heard. 'Bring him here.'
"Here where? Our place?" Athena looked up at Hen with a credulous look.
Hen shook her head. "He needs a goddamn hospital!" She held onto Bobby's shoulders as he trashed against the gurney. "He's bleeding out!"
'You want him to live you bring him here. They won't know what to do. The hospital will only remove the bullet and stop the bleeding. But that won't stop the poison from reaching his heart!'
"Poi-what poison." Hen demanded. "He was shot!"
Athena was stuck in between the choices. But after what she witnessed, she has no choice. "Emilian, can you guarantee he will live."
'If he doesn't we will all perish.'
"Hen, do as they say."
"Athena!"
"Do it!"
Time jump:
Emilian ran out to meet them at the ambulance backed in. Helping Athena out first, they pulled the gurney out next. Checking the wound he growled lowly. "Let's get him inside. Eddie clear the table!" Picking Bobby up he carried him into the house and laid him down on the dining table. "No shirt, I suppose he shifted?" Athena nodded numbly, hugging herself. "Damn idiot."
"Emilian!" Everyone turned at the new voice. A young boy no older than Buck ran into the house with a duffle bag in hand. "I got everything." His steps faltered at seeing Bobby withering in pain. "Oh, alpha-wh-"
"Spencer the bag!" Emilian snapped him out of it.
"R-right here." Handing him the bag, he approached Bobby and took his hand. "This won't help much, but it will give you some relief." Clenching his teeth, he took some of his alpha's pain.
"That's enough Spencer. Where are the others?" Setting everything on a chair, he motioned for someone to come in. More unknown people walked in, surrounding the table. "I need you all to hold him down. Take as much as you can from him." Turning to Athena he lowered his head in a sign of apology. "This isn't going to be something you'd want to see. Neither of you."
Walking past him, she stepped in between two females and took Bobby's hand. "I am not leaving him." The rest of the team did the same.
"Very well." Grabbing a pair of tweezers, he looked up at his team. "Now." Inserting the tweezers into the wound Bobby yelled. The pack attempted to take the pain away, but it was too much to take it away completely. "Almost there." Digging in deeper he felt the foreign item. "This is going to hurt." Pushing them even deeper, he was finally able to pull the bullet out. Tossing it to the side, he grabbed a blow torch.
"Whoa! What are you going to do with that?" Buck yelled. "You already got the bullet out."
"You can only burn the serum out." Ignoring the protest of the human, he inserted the tip of the blowtorch onto the wound and turned it on. Bobby thrashed against the table. His roar of pain-causing nearly everyone to cover their ears. The younger wolves whimpered at the need to submit. Emilian pushed past that same need, watching the blue liquid begin to flow out.
Bobby was somewhat aware of what was going on. He picked up on the scent of his family, team, and pack. They were all there with him. The sense of calm they gave him was quickly replaced by that of agonizing pain. His body was one fire, almost as if he had never left that burning building. The fire licked his insides, teasing him of what was coming. When the fire did come it was hell itself. The flames burned everything in its path. At the same time, it warmed what the serum had frozen. At that moment all he cared about was knowing Athena was unharmed. He had managed to save her.
Emilian continued until it was only blood dripping onto the hardwood floor. Pulling the torch out he watched as the wound began to heal itself. "Liam, Henry, take him into his bedroom. After I want a group of you to head back to the fire. Find out everything you can about the hunter." The team watched as they carried Bobby into the room and left without a word. "He will be fine, just needs to regain his energy."
"I am just going to ask what everyone is thinking. What the hell just happened?" Chim held his hands out in an 'anyone' kind of gesture.
Emilian leaned back against the kitchen island's wall, arms crossed. "I suppose there is no hiding it anymore. He shifted in front of you?" Athena nodded. "What triggered it?"
She shrugged. "Aaron turned his gun on me."
"Makes sense." Gesturing to the back yard he moved the conversation outside.
"I'm going to stay with Bobby." Eddie muttered.
"What do you mean by shifted?" Hen asked.
"There is no easy way to say this, so I'll just throw it out there." Emilian glanced at each one hoping this didn't take a turn for the worse. "I was born a shifter. A werewolf." He waited for the laughs or denial. Instead, all he got were different looks ranging from confusion to understanding. "I've gotten more reaction out of Bobby and Eddie than you lot."
"Athena didn't react." Hen stated. "Which can only mean two things."
"She knew." Chim said.
"Or she knew." Buck added.
"I just found out now." She was still in a bit of shock. I mean who wouldn't? Her husband turned into a wolf in front of her! A four-legged predator with claws and sharp teeth. The same sweet man that cared and loved her nearly ripped another man to pieces. "How?"
"Sorry?" He heard her, he just didn't know how to answer it.
"Bobby wasn't born like this." Athena pointed out. "How was he turned? Why was he turned?"
"The how was that night in the woods he was bitten. The wolf was a rouge looking to kill Bobby." He might as well tell them everything. Bobby was sure to do that when he woke up anyways. "The why? Well, that's a bit complicated. So I will dumb it down. Our precious alpha picked him to be his successor in taking over when he was no longer able to. The pan was to turn him and train him, but things got out of hand. And no here we are."
"Let me get this straight." Athena raised her hand in a stop manner. "You picked my husband just out of the bloom. Decided you will turn him into that and make him lead your pack, without asking him? You made this choice without knowing if he wanted it or not?"
"I know it was selfish and st-"
"Insane!" Athena yelled. "You have turned him into what he despised! Bobby has wanted nothing but to save lives. To be there and help people in their worst moments. He has killed two people from my count and who knows how many others. Do you have any idea what that will do to him?! The damage it causes him when he fails to save someone!"
Emilian had his head down, wincing with each word she threw at him. Unbeknownst to Athena, he was submitting to his alpha. "Forgive me please."
"Forgive you?!" She scoffed. "You forced this upon my husband!"
"Athena!" Bobby growled by the door, softening his gaze at the tears filling in her eyes. Holding his arm out, he braced himself at the tackling hug. "I got you."
"I almost lost you." She whispered into his chest. "There was nothin-"
"You saved my life." Pulling back to see her face, he wiped her tears away. "I wouldn't be here if it weren't for you." Looking over at Emilian he sighed. "None of this is his fault or doing. Emilian wasn't aware of who I truly was until after I got bitten."
Emilian walked over to them, dropping down to one knee. Lowering his neck he shifted into his wolf. A collective of gasps echoed. Baring his neck to Athena he stayed still waiting for her to make her move.
"Run your hand up and down his neck." Bobby whispered to her. "It's called scent marking."
Hesitantly she reached out to the wolf. Setting her hand on the side of his neck, she ran her fingers through his long mane. Emilian leaned into her touch, allowing his tongue to slip out in a content manner. The feeling of his alpha giving him affection was a sensation many craved but nearly no one received. Athena found herself kneeling in front of the wolf, scratching him along the base of his neck and down his chest. "What am I doing?"
I will explain later." Bobby glanced over his shoulder to find Eddie staring at him. Pushing himself off the door frame, he approached the younger man with caution. "Eddi-" He was tackled into another hug.
"We almost lost you cap." Eddie muttered.
Exhaling quietly, he wrapped his arms around his shoulders. "I'm still here Eddie. It's going to take much more than a bullet to get rid of me."
"So I was right!" Buck ran into the house with a goofy grin. "You are a werewolf!"
Bobby chuckled. "There is a first time for everything, you being right was a fluke."
"But I was right." The other filed in standing behind Buck. "So what now?"
Bobby glanced at Emilian and his wife, Eddie, and then back to the team. "Things for me have changed, but that doesn't have to be the case for any of you. I will be putting in my resignation tomorrow in-"
"Whoa hold on there cap." Chim scoffed. "It's not that deep."
"No one is leaving." Hen jumped in. "So you can turn into a dog, big deal. Your moods are still the same. Nothing has truly changed for us."
The alpha looked up at his team with a look of hope. "You are all okay with this?"
Hen shrugged. "I always said the firehouse was missing a fire dog."
"I have one demand." Chim raised a finger. "You are sleeping outside the moment I see one flea." Jumping at the deep growl he chuckled nervously. "Just a joke."
"So, can we see it?" Buck grinned.
Nearby:
The werewolf slunk like he was a part of the shadow world, only visiting the mortal creatures to feed. His heart was cold and his mind had no room for pity. For his "heaven" was one with many victims to consume, victims who became paralyzed with fear before he dined on their soft flesh. Their cries were music to his ears, their blood the finest perfume. To watch them suffer was his serenity, his joy. But his greatest satisfaction lay in taking away loved ones; he could taste the difference. Knowing that he'd struck a blow into the lives of their families and friends was sickly sweet, intoxicating, and more addictive even than the flesh. His eyes laid upon his next target. A sickening grin at the pleasure he will get from destroying the alpha's world.
