Boricua and the Flame Chapter 1

By Jurassicfatt

Tasha's Pov, Airport Lounge, Boston, 2 pm

Sitting in this lounge isn't half bad. It's warm, and they have a little café where you can buy some coffee and a snack. Got my coffee mug filled with orange pekoe tea. I'm good. Except that I've been waiting for my friend, who is 7 hours late.

Granted, it's not her fault. My best friend Kiera had a flight from Jacksonville to Boston. However, because of the transport delays due to the storms, it's getting harder for her to move up. Getting back to Florida isn't the worst of it; it's moving up North that's the problem.

Originally, we were going to meet up right after Christmas; however, that didn't really pan out well. So many people, so little space. Bad weather conditions. With that and her AEW match lineup, we pushed our hang out to after the New Year. Granted, I don't mind, so long as I get to see Kiki. But, as luck would have it, today of all days, her flight was cancelled. I was 25 minutes from the airport, with maybe an hour left before her original arrival time, when she told me the news. She was able to get a 2nd flight with a layover in Kentucky, but it was another hour before she could board. I came here early, but she just texted me, almost 7 hours later, letting me know she's on her way. As much as I'm a little bored and annoyed at what happened, seeing that smile of hers is always worth it.

I can feel my foot tapping quickly, echoing off the walls. Getting some side-eyes from other people, I stop. Jeez, I'm jittery as hell! And this is not because of the cold. No, no, it's because I'm about to see Kiera. I've had a crush on her for a bit, but it's been getting worse ever since she left for Jacksonville.

If you didn't know, Kiera and I have known each other for a bit, working in similar indie promotions. A couple of years, actually. And back then, we would nod or greet each other, but never really interact. Kind of like co-workers or classmates who recognize each other, but don't hang out.

That all changed when I made it to Impact. Kiera and I started hanging out after tapings, and let me tell you, she is literally the coolest person I know. Seriously, the bubbliest of personalities. She will take you out on your worst day and make you feel like a star. She's loyal as hell, protective over her friends and loved ones, and will do anything to make you smile. Her laugh is infectious, and she knows when to be the best friend, the shoulder to cry on, and the party animal.

She's also freaking beautiful. Curly hair, sometimes red, sometimes blue, but always well done. Big brown eyes that literally melt you before she says a damn word. She convinced me, with those puppy dog eyes, to buy her new Impact shirt when I could have gotten it free, okurrr! She a sneaky little B. She also has these pretty lips that make you just want to kiss her all the time. Seriously, she'll put on some gloss and that's the only thing on my mind. And they're soft, too.

How do I know this? Simple. Sometimes, when we're hanging out, we'll go out to drink. One of our friends will usually bring out something to smoke. Now, if you've ever smoked weed, or even if you haven't, you might have heard of a 'shotgun kiss'? Basically, you take a hit, and then you get close and share it with one of your friends. No harm, no foul. People do it all the time, or at least some people do. And it's all fun. Except when Kiera does it. Why? Because Kiera doesn't just give you a shotgun kiss. No. Kiera will take a hit, lock lips with you, exhale the haze, and then kiss you before pulling away. It's literally one of my favorite things to do with her. We will go through an entire pack just doing that, and I get two highs off it- one from the pack, and the other from Kiera. It's a win-win, yeah?

Kiera also has a killer body. Look, I'm no animal. I respect a person's privacy and personal space. I'm reluctant to let people in, especially if we don't know each other. I like to vibe with someone before we get touchy-feely. But… I'll admit that I've had to physically hold myself back from holding Kiera. For real. Firstly, because she always smells divine. Some sort of cocoa butter delicioriffic body wash that'll make any person salivate. Then, she wears these outfits that bring out her curves. There are times she'll be wearing a hoodie, yet the curves peek through. Sometimes we match outfits, but she still looks so fine. I go in a t-shirt, and she's got a crop top. I go in sweat pants, while she's wearing yoga pants. I go in skinny jeans; she's puts on a tight jean dress. I go in a bikini; she's wearing a G-string! If Diamante wasn't there that one time we went to Orlando, I'd have hugged that booty all day in the pool! I even playfully smacked it twice, after she smacked mine.

And… that's the problem right there. I know how much Diamante meant to her. They recently called it quits. I talked to Kiera about it. Poor thing was bawling her eyes out over the phone. I just wanted to hold her while she cried. They left on good terms, but it still hurt. Something about wanting to go on different life paths. They decided to stay friends no matter what, but she was so sad those first couple days. And because of our work schedules and everything going back on tour, plus one of my cousins in Brooklyn getting sick, our time was limited and we couldn't meet one another. Then you add the NorEastern weather, and well, it's been a long time since we got together. And I'll admit, I've missed her… I've missed her so much.

When you're on the road, away from loved ones, the truth is, your wrestling roster becomes a family of its own. And yeah, Impact's roster is definitely a family. From Deonna crying every time we watch a drama or romance, to Alisha trying to cartwheel, and the random dance offs backstage, it's a blast. But it is not the same without Kiki. When we started hanging out, I was a bit more timid. Truthfully, I could hold my own and fake it, but I never got to embrace the full me. Alisha, who I knew from a ways back, told me that Kiera can bring out the best in people. And she was right. We'd plan spots, drink and vibe, have pillow fights, go for spa treatment, share playlists, watch movies, and do other wacky stuff. She got me to try new foods, wear some weird stuff after I lost bets (I'm never betting on sports again… maybe in a prize pool, but never one on one!), and even got me to try new makeup brands, some of which I still use today.

One of the funny things about Kiera is that she'll do stuff which would normally make someone mad, but you wouldn't dare scream or get mad at her. She's too damn cute! I'd tease her a bit, but never harshly. For instance, often times, we'll watch the show from the back, even if we're not competing. And I like to eat when I'm backstage. So sometimes, I'll go grab a snack from catering and bring it to the locker room to munch on. I'll ask Kiera if she wants anything, and she'll say 'No, I'm good'. But the minute I grab a large protein cookie, bag of chips, or some other snack, and open the package, she'll stare at me with those big eyes and ask 'Can I have a piece?' And then she'll have like half of it before I even get a bite. I'll go back to catering to get something else like a water or maybe another snack, and it's the same story over and over. But I let her, because she's so loveable and I could never say no.

Throwing away my trash, I stand up, grab my mug, and walk towards the arrival area. It's packed with people, but I'm happy she's on her way.

I always thought she was pretty, but after a while, I started crushing hard. Even though they're in good fun, those kisses we share when we smoke get me higher than any kind of weed ever could. But, I'm too nervous to confess. I'm nervous as hell! I lost a friend after we tried something like this while drunk. Felt really low after that. I don't want to come off as that friend who shows up after a breakup and says 'Hey baby, I always liked you. Wanna go out?'. It should be special, the way I confess to her, if that makes sense? Maybe I'm just-

"Tasha!" I hear someone scream to my side. Turning, I watch Kiera, in her puffy white coat and boots, tackle-hug me. Luckily, I was able to keep my feet in place and catch her without falling.

"Oof!" I groan out, as she hugs me in a vicelike grip. Damn, she strong today! I hug back, her hair all over my face, my nose smelling her sweet-smelling shampoo. "Hi Kiki."

"I missed you, girl!" she yells. Pulling away, she grabs her suitcase and tilts her head. "How you been?"

"Not too bad. How are you doing, Kiki?" I respond.

"Cold!" she says, rubbing her hands together. She then eyes my orange pekoe tea. Biting her lip, she locks eyes with me. Rolling my own, I hand her the mug.

"Here. Drink this."

She takes it from my hands, before quickly pecking me on the cheek, her cold lips bringing a tingle to the spot.

"Thank you." Kiera singsongs, before taking a huge sip. "Mmm! You put honey in this, didn't you?"

"Natural sweetness. Just like you." Her smile gets even larger, before she takes another sip.

"Still smooth as ever, Tasha. I'm sorry you've been waiting so long for me. I know you didn't have to."

"Of course, I did, Kiki. I wanted to hang with you, and I'm not letting you drive all the way from the airport while the planes are still deicing. Give me your bag and we'll head to the car."

"You're seriously the sweetest, but I've got this. I'm a grown ass woman, Tasha."

"Then you best get that big grown ass over the parking lot, because I wasn't able to get a premium parking spot, despite coming early." I sass jokingly.

"Oh, feisty Boricua today! You sure you didn't put some whisky in that tea?" she teases back.

"Nah. The only alcohol in my system will be when you and I go to the club, later." We slowly make our way through the airport crowds. Thank God she went carryon only.

"Going to a club in January. We bringing the Fire and Flava, baby!"

"Yeah. All the people going dry for January. I hope it works for them and they don't do double time in February." I murmur.

"You're just saying that because you could never do it."

"You saying you're on dry January?" I ask.

"Hell nah! It's already damn cold. Might as well have a good time." she exclaims. I laugh out loud at her outburst.

"Everything in moderation, Kiki. And I'm sorry about the flight."

"Thanks. But we can't control Mother Nature, girl." We finally make it to my car. Popping open the trunk of my blue Hybrid, I put her bags in before closing it. "This is nice, by the way. Rental?" she asks, touching a gloved hand to the door.

"Yep. Need to get a fine set of wheels to go pick up the Hottest Flame." She bites her lip, a sight I've grown to love.

"Is that bird shit?"

"What?" I question shockingly, looking at the mirror. Low and behold, a small amount of bird poop is on the driver side mirror. "How is that even possible? We in the tundra, how you still pooping all over my ride, tweety?" I take a deep breath, in through my nose and out from the mouth.

"HAHAHA! T-Hahaha-Ta-Tasha, hehe, it's not-t, hehe, that funny-"

"Why you laughing so hard, for?" I ask with an eyebrow raise.

"Y-Haha-Your face! I-hehe-I put some, *breath* some gray snow from the tire on the mirror. Hahaha!" she tells me. I look at the mirror again and clean it off, realizing its snow. Placing the cup of tea down, I try to grab her, but she's already running from me.

"You think that's funny? Come here, you!" I yell with a smile, causing her to dodge my grab and run around the car.

"No, you stay away, Tasha! Hahaha! You should have seen the way your eyes went wide."

"Come here!" I finally catch up to her, but notice a patch of black ice near her. Kiera nearly loses her footing, her arms going up. I grab her and hold her steady, slowly bringing her into my arms and off the ice. "Hey, you okay? Almost fell there."

She nods as I place her down. "Yes, thank you."

Smirking, I tighten my hold on here. "Got you, you little sneak." She smiles.

"Yeah. Where ya gonna take me, now, chica?" she asks, her voice barely over a whisper. She stares at me, those brown eyes piercing in the afternoon winter sun. Her scent is overwhelming me and her body feels so good against my own.

Just tell her! A voice whispers in my head.

"Tasha?" Kiera murmurs.

"Yeah, Kiki? You wanna go inside the car now, huh?" she nods. "What do you say?"

"Sorry I de-pimped your ride, baby."

I smile. "It's fine, Kiki. Come, let's get you out of the cold." I press a button on my car keys, unlocking the door. I then grab the passenger side handle, holding the door open for Kiera.

"Thank you." she says, before stepping in.

"Watch your hands." I warn, before closing the door. Going around and getting inside, I adjust my seat, put the key in, and slowly drive out of the parking lot. As I drive onto the main avenue, Kiera starts going through the radio.

"You don't have a connector, huh?"

"Yeah. It's too old, Kiki."

"Well, it's got some nice, smooth seats." she whispers, rubbing her hands over the armrests and front.

Just like those legs of yours, I think, smiling while looking ahead.

"What are you smiling at?" Kiera asks, her eyes curiously looking over my face. I chuckle.

"Just thinking about tonight. There's a few clubs that need that Fire and Flava, wouldn't you agree?"

"Hell yeah they do!"

"You going to invite anyone? Besides Nash and Holly." I question. I don't mind company, but I'd rather it just be me and Kiera. Nash and Holly are Kiera's high school friends. They moved out here, but they'll be too busy to care what Kiera and I do. Hopefully the clubs will still be open with all this snow.

"I think Holly's inviting some people. A few girls from work, I think." Kiera tells me.

"And what about Leila and Red Velvet? I remember you mentioned something about Skye, too."

"Nah. Velvet's got a big family get together, and Leila's hanging out with Jade. Skye's busy, too. Hope you don't mind it being just little ol' me to keep you company." Kiera says cutely, batting her eyelashes with her hands in her lap.

"It's been too damn long. Fire N' Flava are reunited and it feels so good!" I yell, singing the last part. Suddenly, Rihanna's Where have you been comes on through the radio, and Kiera starts clapping.

"Whoo! Baby, they playing our song! Come on Tash, sing with me. Oh, you can have me all you want. Any wayyyy, Any dayyy! Show me where you heart lies! OOOH-WOOAH!" she screams, making me laugh. I follow along with her, letting the lyrics sit in my mind, pondering them. If only it were so easy…

Getting to our hotel, I park and get our bags, before checking my phone. 5pm. Still got a bit of time. Kiera and I check in, before I give Kiera her bag. She gets off on the 3rd floor and heads to her room, while I go to the 5th. Using my keycard, I quickly go inside, shutting the door behind me. I take a shower, fix my hair, put on some eyeliner and lipstick, and dress up. I put on an olive-cream coloured tank top, a black sweater jacket with black buttons, a pair of dark pants with a Dolce Gabbana belt I got from Deonna, and my boots. Finishing the look with a large pair of shades with golden accents, I text Kiera and make my way over to her room, jacket and phone in hand. Getting off the elevator, it takes me a while to find room 319. Knocking, I hear Kiera call out 'Coming' before opening up. Dear lord, have mercy…

Kiera is wearing a black long-sleeve shirt that hugs her body, a beautiful boob window drawing my eyes. Her nails are painted white and shiny. Moving down, she's wearing a pair of yoga pants, brown to match her skin tone. Of course, when she opened the door, my mind immediately thought she was nude from the waist down. She hasn't put on any socks, yet, her white painted toenails pointed at me. Looking back at her, Kiera's framed her hair around her face, bringing out the sparkly eyeshadow and makeup she's wearing. Black mascara brings out those brown diamonds of hers, and she's wearing that cinnamon chapstick, the tube grasped in her hand. Looking me over, she whistles.

"Okay, okay! Somebody's looking to get lucky tonight, huh?" she teases, walking back into her room. I follow, closing the door behind me.

"Me? You look like straight snack material!" I blurt out, before getting tongue-tied, "I-ah. I mean-"

Kiera snickers. "Aw, thanks Tasha. You look really nice, too. Like a Boricua bombshell." she says, shimming her hips from side to side. Trying to hide the blush on my face, I quickly turn and dance, pumping my shoulders and hips. Kiera raises an eyebrow. "Okay, Tasha! I see you! Ya girl, keep shaking it!"

I lift a leg up and kick the bed, leading me to lose my balance. "Whoa! Okay, *breath* I'm good." I say, quickly regaining my balance, but the misstep causes both Kiera and I to burst into laughs. "Hahaha!"

"You're not even drunk and now you falling all over the place? Get a grip, Tasha!" We both continue to laugh.

"I really should. So, you ready to go? I see you ain't wearing shoes yet, so I say no?" I assert.

"I need to find my favorite pair."

"Of what? It's freezing with literal inches of snow. You ain't wearing heels." She stamps her foot. "I mean it. I love ya, but I ain't carrying you if you're not hurt. You'll be walking on the ice with no boots."

"You're no fun." Kiera argues, bending over and giving me a great view of her ass in those pants. Look away. Breathe in, breathe out. "Can you help?"

"What are you looking for?"

"My hoop earrings. I wanna shine like a star, tonight." Kiera argues.

You already are one, I think to myself, the words on the tip of my tongue. Holding back my want, I start looking around the floor, bed, and couches. "They're not here."

Leaving the washroom, Kiera comes beside me. "No sign in the bathroom or the small kitchenette."

"Do you have another pair? I'm hungry and I don't want to wait."

"I'm hungry too." she tells me, before continuing. "But you got to help me find my hoops."

"Just wear another pair. You good already."

"Thanks, Tash, *groan*, but I got to wear em. You never know. I might meet someone tonight." I feel my heart clench at the words.

"What do you mean? You finally going to start dating again?" I question.

Reaching into the couch cushions, Kiera scrunches her face. "Nope, nothing there."

"I told you already. And you didn't answer my question."

"Would you give me a sec? Jeez, you Puerto Rican girls." she teases.

"Oh no, you didn't just go there." I warn with a playful tone. She puts her hands up, motioning for me to come closer.

"Do something."

"I came to bring you to food land, not kick your ass. I'm off duty." I assert.

"You think you can kick my ass?"

I shrug.

Kick! Kiera playfully kicks my boots, the ball of her foot colliding with the top. Smirking, she responds. "Guess Tasha's gone soft since I left."

"Whatever. We going or what?" I ask, checking through my phone. Kiera kicks me again. "Girl, you pushing your luck. I know you playful, but you're not wearing shoes. And I know I can beat you."

"Oh yeah?" she asks. I nod. She kicks me again. "Boricua's all talk and no bite." Placing my jacket on the couch, along with my shades, I stand with my hands up. "What, you just going to stand there or-"

I jump Kiera, straddling her. The two of us laugh, wrestling on the couch. Kiera puts me in a headlock, so I turn around and grab her foot. Holding it in both hands, I start rubbing my finger up and down the bottom, causing Kiera to gasp.

"Tash-hehe- Tasha no, Hahahahahahaha! Hahahaha!" she screams in joy, twisting and turning while letting go of me.

"You submit?" I ask. She starts slapping the couch, tapping out. Swiftly letting go of her foot, I fix my hair, before sitting up and patting her on the knee. "Tasha 1, Kiera, nahdah!" I scream in her face, causing her to give me a glare.

"I wasn't ready. You did that on purpose." she says, crossing her arms.

"Did I hurt you?" I ask, concerned. Maybe I pressed too hard.

"No. My pride is, though." she murmurs.

"That's okay. You'll recover." I assert with a smile.

"You are such an ass." Kiera tells me.

"Sometimes." I agree, nodding. "You're still the only girl I want on my arm in clubs and restaurants."

She smiles, giving me her attention. "Thanks. So, where we going?"

"Nice little rib place. Shed's Barbecue. Probably going to be packed, but worth it for that sauce. And you don't need those earrings to eat em."

She laughs. "I will when we go to the club."

"I'm going to tickle you again if you don't finish getting dressed." I warn.

"No! No no, hehe, that's fine. Let me put on my socks and boots, and we'll head out." she offers. Standing, I reach out my hand, pulling her up. I put my jacket while she puts on her boots, jacket, and then her hat and gloves. I grab my scarf, earmuffs, and gloves, before heading towards the door. "You look so cute in those earmuffs."

I bite my lip, my heart beating quicker from her calling me cute. Putting on my shades, I flip my hair. "They stylish." I argue.

She nods in agreement with pursed lips. "They are."

"You got your purse and id?" I ask. She nods. "Okay, we going. I'm calling the uber."

"K." Closing and locking her hotel room, we take the elevator down. A couple minutes later, a green Toyota rolls up, and takes us to the restaurant. Holding open the door, I give him the address and we're off. The driver laughs and compliments me on my glasses, which causes Kiera to giggle. I'm still a bit shaky sitting so clost to Kiera. Damn I'm tired of hiding this. It's literally eating me up, but I'm still scared. I'll hold out my feelings for another time. I want to show Kiera the best time after her plane troubles, so let's get some good food, great vibes, and dance the night away!

Author's Note: Hey everybody! Hope you've all been well. Been a while since my last update. It's been a tumultuous start to 2023, and I'm still busy with school stuff.
