It was sunset. Stan and Kyle were walking through a big open field when they came upon a railroad track. "What do you suppose this is?" Stan asked.
Kyle didn't know. "It looks like a long skinny road." He stepped onto the track to get a closer look.
Stan joined him up there. "Yeah, but have you ever seen a road like this? It looks like it's made of iron."
"It's definitely something manmade. I just can't tell what."
All of a sudden, the track started to vibrate. Then they heard a loud whistle. Next instant an enormous train came rushing toward them! Stan and Kyle only just managed to jump out of the way in time. The train was full of fire and smoke and light and it roared and beat on the metal lines until the ground shook beneath it. And then suddenly it was gone and they heard it disappearing, rattle and bang, rattle and bang, away in the distance.
"That's the second time we've almost gotten killed today," Stan panted.
Kyle said, "I hate to say this, since we still haven't found Ike, but maybe we should head back."
But it was too late for that, because just then six big rabbits popped out of holes in the ground. They fanned out around Kyle and Stan and surrounded them. "Who are you?" the leader demanded. "Lemme see yer marks!"
"Marks?" Stan said. "What marks? I don't understand."
The strange rabbit studied them. "Yer not from Efrafa," he said.
"No," said Kyle. "Where's that? Never heard of it."
The rabbit chuckled. "This here is Efrafa, where yer standin' right now. My name's Captain Vervain. Ye've come to the wrong side o' the tracks."
"Well, we didn't mean to trespass on your territory," Stan said quickly. "We were just planning on leaving, in fact."
"Oh, no," said Vervain. "Now that yer here, there'll be no leavin' fer ye. Yer both comin' wid me. I'll take ye to the General, see wot he has ter say about ye."
Vervain and his rabbits brought Stan and Kyle underground and took them to a big burrow, where many other rabbits were gathered.
"Wot are you doin' back here so early, Vervain?" a rabbit who seemed to be another officer asked.
Vervain pointed at Stan and Kyle. "We caught these strangers trespassin', so we brung 'em back here fer questioning. I'll hand 'em over ter yew now, Campion, so's I can go back above ground fer the rest o' my spell of duty."
Campion turned to a rabbit standing beside him. "Groundsel, go alert the General."
"Okay," Groundsel said and he sped off into a nearby tunnel.
Campion addressed Stan and Kyle. "Sit down, yew two. Might as well make yerselves at home- yer gonna be here fer a good long while."
