Next morning Wendy was talking to Mackey. "Stan and Kyle still aren't back yet?" she asked.
"Nope," said Mackey. "I dunno what coulda happened to 'em. I hope they didn't get eaten, or shot, or run over by a hudrudu!"
Then Butters came running up. "Fellas, I had another dream last night! It was about Stan an' Kyle. They were bein' held prisoner by an awful rabbit with only one eye!"
"Well, that doesn't sound good," said Wendy. "Any idea where this was happening?" Butters shook his head.
Mackey pointed eastward. "M'kay, so I think Stan an' Kyle went off in that general direction. Maybe we could send out search parties…"
Just then they heard a bird squawk. It was Kehaar! He was flying toward them.
"Hello, Kehaar," Wendy called. "How's the wing holding up?"
Kehaar landed next to them. "Oh, ya. Ving, 'e better, not hurting anymore."
"Listen, do you know of any other rabbits living in these parts?" Wendy asked.
The seagull nodded. "Ya, ya. Not far avay, ees farm vid peeg trees all round, on liddle hill. Und here ees rabbits. Ees rabbits live in box; live vid men."
"Rabbits livin' in a box with men?" Butters repeated in confusion.
"He must be talking about domesticated rabbits," said Wendy. "That's not the kind of rabbit I meant. Are there any other wild rabbits around here?"
The seagull seemed reluctant to answer, but at length he did. "On de udder side of de farm, ees miles und miles of fields. Und after dat ees iron road." (By this he meant the railroad track.) "Just across de iron road ees a town of rabbits, name of Efrafa, very beeg. De rabbit who rules it ees very beeg too, und very mean. He hates anybeast who isn't a rabbit, und he only has one eye. Any rabbits dat come to Efrafa, he captures dem. Udder rabbits call heem 'Voundvort.'"
"Did you say the evil rabbit's name is Roundwart?" Mackey asked.
"Na, na! Voundvort!"
Kehaar tried his best to pronounce Woundwart's name, but the rabbits couldn't understand him because of his thick accent. Wendy finally gave up trying to decipher it. "Well, it doesn't matter what his name is. He's clearly the rabbit Butters dreamed about, and he has Stan and Kyle."
Butters shuddered. "Gee, fellas, who's goin' to go save 'em then?"
"I will!" said a gravelly voice. Mackey, Wendy, and Butters turned to see who had spoken. To their shock, it was Kenny! He wasn't mumbling anymore. He had pulled his ears out of his face and tied them back in a ponytail with a piece of grass, so his voice was coming through loud and clear now.
Kenny addressed Kehaar. "Leave it to me. I'll get Stan and Kyle out of this Efrafa place. Just show me the way."
