Cartman was just finishing telling Cowslip the story of his exploit the night before.
"And just when the fire had really gotten going, some more asswipe humans showed up out of nowhere and started trying to put it out!" he concluded. "I had to run away before they saw me. I don't know if they managed to get the fire out or not."
"Hmm," said Cowslip. "Well, what are you gonna do now?"
Cartman considered. "I guess I've gotta go back there and try to find out what happened."
"If that man is still around, he'll surely be lying in wait for you with his gun!" Cowslip cautioned.
"I'll be careful," Cartman said.
"Yes, because you've been the very model of caution up till now," Cowslip muttered sarcastically.
Cartman left the warren and went back to the farmhouse- or rather, the spot where the house had been, because it was a pile of ashes and charred wood now. Nothing was left standing but the chimney.
At first, Cartman stayed in the ditch by the road, watching and waiting. When he saw no sign of life in the wreckage after several minutes, he hopped a few feet closer to the house. Then a few feet closer still. No one accosted him. No one tried to shoot him.
Finally, Cartman walked all the way up to the edge of the ruin. There was no question about it. There wasn't a single sight or sound of the farmer or his wife anywhere about. "Holy hraka!" Cartman exclaimed. "I did it! I killed them! This farm is all ours now!"
Of course, the farmer was actually still alive and, in the hospital, but Cartman didn't know that.
He ran back to the warren to tell the other rabbits. "The farmer is dead!" he said. "We've got the run of this place now."
"I don't believe you!" Silverweed yelled.
"It's true," Cartman insisted. "See for yourselves."
A group of rabbits went with Cartman to verify his story. When they saw the deserted ruin, their faith in him was restored.
"Wow," said Laburnum. "You're the first rabbit I've heard of that who actually managed to kill a human."
"And look!" Cartman said. He hopped around to the back of the house, and the others followed. They found the vegetable garden completely unscathed; the flames had not spread there.
"We can afford to take our time now," said Cartman. "Our enemies are dead. We'll have another feast here, then gather up all the rest of this food and bring it home to our warren."

Not far away, the farmer sat in a hospital bed, covered in bandages. He was talking on a phone…
"'Ello, Animal Control? I need yer to deal wi' some troublesome rabbits on my property…"
