Another story!. I have high hopes that this will do well, its been a nest egg in my mind for a few weeks. I look forward to any feedback. I am working on my other story rewrite, so bear with me. Now, enjoy:).

The Sum of their Parts: Chapter One: The Arrival

Prologue:

The Mojave Desert, 1985.

The night sky was clear, the lack of light pollution from any cities sparing the atmosphere. The stars were bright, making the sky above seem like an endless sea. One star, however, emanated a light unlike any of the others. The faint orange color of flame was contrasted against the blackness, and if there had been any stargazers this night, they would see how the 'star' grew ever larger. Closer and closer the star seemed to get before a boom filled the skies.

The star was not as such. The meteorite rocketed down before connecting with the Earth. The sand turned to glass on contact, the heat immense. The closest shrubs burst into flames, and any animals in the area made themselves scarce. The fires did not spread, thankfully, and the metal within the rock began to cool.

Within moments of landing, the rock started to shift, crumbling like the shell of an egg. A being emerged from the rock, blue lights where the eyes should be instead. Its optics scanned the landscape surrounding it, determining if any life were here. Aside from the jackrabbits and lizards that had been in the area, the being saw no signs of other life. The being, one made of metal instead of flesh, removed itself the rest of the way out.

It was short, one of the smallest of its race. B-127, as is he known to his comrades, takes a few cautious steps. Out of the thousands of other worlds, this planet was unknown to Cybertronians, and B-127 had no way of knowing if the beings that called it home were friendly or hostile. His optics focused in on a flicker of movement, and a few feet away, partially obscured by a rock, was a burrowing owl. It stared up at the Cybertronian with large amber eyes, ready to flee if presented with danger.

B-127 stared back, fascinated by a creature no other being of his race had ever laid optics on. The owl, coming to the conclusion that whatever this was, was a threat. In a flash of movement, the owl disappeared into its hole. Curious, B-127 made a few clicks and whirrs, his speech synthesis destroyed in the final moments of the war he had fled. B-127, seeing no sign the owl had any intention of revealing itself again, he scanned the distance, resuming his search for other life.

Far in the distance, the faint flickering of lights could be seen. But B-127 discerned within seconds that these were not friendlies. With his advanced optics, B-127 made out the gun placements that were attached to the vehicles. B-127 started moving, his metal feet barely making a sound against the soft sand. In the distance, coming from another direction, was another set of lights.

These, however, were not coming from any militarized vehicle. Instead, a smaller, yellow vehicle was driving along a darkened path. With his optics, B-127 scanned every detail of the vehicle. As the yellow vehicle passed, an exact replica pulled out onto the road, headed in the opposite direction. Before too long, B-127 was far gone from the site, the militarized vehicles now reaching where he had crashed.

The path B-127 sped along wound its way through the strange landscape. B-127 didn't know where it would end up taking him, but he was now confident that the population of this planet would now be searching for him. In time, B-127 would determine what their intentions were. But for now, he would hide in plain sight, studying, and waiting. It was unknown to him if any of his friends had survived the terrible war. B-127 took it upon himself to survive, even if he was the last Autobot.
