KnightOfZaku: No to the first question, yes to the second. They won't discover that she is the lost Sahalin until the 08th MS Team Arc (The name for several arcs encompassing the events of that series).
Golden Gundam Part II: Golden Gundam, Dekakeru!
"The Gundam?! But it's just a prototype-" John began
"Well, consider this its first test!" Rose replied,
'I'll never understand women…' He sighed, "Combat stations!" He ordered, "Prepare for combat!"
ZSAF Opulent
"How?!" The radar operator stared at his screen, "Enemy ship is already preparing to engage!"
"They detected us before our suits entered our range?!" The captain stood, "Full speed! Tell all mobile suits to engage!"
"S-sir it's a Magellan-"
"We have an entire squadron of Zakus! We won't have anything to do once they're through!" The captain sat back down.
"There's more, there appears to be a single...mobile suit-sized bogey!"
"What?!" 'Federation mobile suits? We never received any intelligence on this!'
"Listen up!" Hailey Barret called to her mixed unit of MS-06F and MS-06C Zaku IIs. "Apparently, there is one unidentified bogey. Possibly a captured mobile suit. Our mission is to wipe out the Magellan and what escorts it may have. Siegfried! Tulla! Use your bazookas to target the Magellan's engines. The rest of us will hold of the su-"
Suddenly, she was cut off by the horrible screams of her wingman.
"Vaileen!" Hailey screamed,
"Holy shit!" Siegfried quickly backed away from the destroyed Zaku.
'H-how…?' Hailey wondered, 'There's no way the Magellan hit us at this range…'
Her answer came in the form of a golden fighter.
"What is that thing?!" Tulla asked,
"Take it out! It killed Vaileen!" Siegfried fired his 280mm at the fighter. Only for it to barrel-roll and the rocket to sail harmlessly over its body. It banked to turn towards Siegfried's MS-06C, and began to transform.
"Holy…" Hailey began, she stood transfixed. The head of a mobile suit separated from the nose section of the fighter, its legs flipped out to the back and its feet sprung out from the ankles, revealing the body of a mobile suit. The nose - which apparently replaced the upper limbs of the suit - face outward from the torso, and two work arms popped out from below it. Finally, the suit righted itself as a V-fin formed from its forehead. Its eyes flashed green,
She clicked a button, focusing on its forehead. Where it spelled out a single word, something she'd come to fear for the rest of her life.
Gundam
Ryan froze in place, his heart dropped to his feet.
'She knew.' But in hindsight, he realized he knew this all along. It was likely Kycilia's men who tried to kill the Sahalin's eight years ago. It was probably the Kycilia Agency who planted a bomb in their car. Who else could put so much effort into the suppression of dissidents?
"So what now?" Ryan asked, "You're going to kill me?"
"If I wanted to kill you-" Kycilia took a sip of her tea, "-I would've done it years ago. And it just so happens your father's actions allowed me to take control of Zeon's independent MS divisions. On top of that, you're one of my best pilots. All in all, you're an asset. So no, I won't kill you if you remain in line."
"So what prevents me from 'stepping out of line'?" Ryan said, his voice dangerous.
"It isn't 0068." Kycilia said, "I'm no longer a little girl. Try anything funny, and your precious adoptive family follows me six feet under." Her refined tone was gone, replaced with one of cold honesty. It wasn't particularly malicious, but simply stating facts.
"Fine," Ryan said, he was cornered, and they both knew it. It was almost cliche, the villain threatening the lives of the protagonist's family. But it was all too effective of a threat in the real world. Especially when the person making it had more than enough resources to make it happen. Dead or not.
"What do you want from me?" Ryan curled his fists.
"Your cooperation in this war," Kycilia said to him, "I'm tying up loose ends."
"I see, so you don't want your own men stabbing you in the back when push comes to shove?"
"You're awfully perceptive." Kycilia said, "It can get you killed."
"I'm not dead yet. And it's not something I control after all." It came out as a flippant remark, but it was strangely true, he somewhat sensed Kycilia's intentions behind this meeting before she actually said them aloud.
"What do I get out of this relationship?"
Kycilia analyzed him for a moment and chuckled. "You're like a cornered rat, Adrian Ral Hamon. Trapped, but still biting back." She looked out towards the stars, "I've seen the reports. What happened during Operation British. The nightmares. You feel things, see things. Your officers think you're going insane. And you do as well. Some of this has been going on for years, hasn't it? I can help you." Her voice suddenly turned gentle, "You're suffering in silence. But what is hurting you could be making you stronger."
Ryan had to admit, something about listening to Kycilia like this felt...comforting? However, his more rational side wasn't having it.
"What are you trying to sell me?" Ryan asked, "Quit with the mind games."
"I'm simply saying that I can help you." The mothering was gone, "Tell me, what do you know of Newtypes?"
"G-Gundam?" Hailey began to pull back on the controls instinctively with fear before regaining her composure. "S-surround it!"
"Y-yes ma'am!" The mobile suits shot towards the Gundam. Firing at it as they went. Suddenly, it moved, charging straight at Siegfried. He tried to evade it but was too late, one of the Gundam's work arms grabbed his left, and a beam discharged from its right arm, and vaporized the Zaku's cockpit, taking Siegfried with it.
"Siegfried!" Tulla screamed, she gritted her teeth, "Feddie bastard!"
The Gundam turned to her, and in one fluid motion, slashed Tullas MS-06F across the torso, incinerating the cockpit.
The comms delivered Tulla's pained screams before going silent.
"D-damn you!" Colesawer made his move, drawing his heat hawk, he charged the Gundam.
"D-Damn you!"
The voice bellowed towards Rose, her head was hit with a sharp pang she knew was the anger of the enemy.
"S-so...overwhelming…" She gritted her teeth, forcing herself to push it back. The pain slowly began to fade as well.
Just in time too, she barely managed to block the slash of the enemy heat hawk with her own beam saber. She forced the enemy pilot back and fired at him with her rifle arm. However, the enemy pilot dodged.
She transformed again, and instinctively raised her second head in the nose, and opened fire with her Vulcan guns. Forcing him to block with his shield and allowing her to close the distance, and slash his shield.
However, she failed to account for the remaining Zaku's.
"Gatlan! Let's take this bastard down!"
"Right! Captain Hailey!"
Her senses warned her of the oncoming danger, she tried to turn around and block, but the Zaku in front of her grabbed her. Preventing her from moving,
"Let...me go!" Roaring, she fired her Vulcan guns at the Zaku in front of her, destroying its monoeye. Turning to the oncoming Zaku's, she drew both her beam saber and readied her rifle. She hit Gatlan in the cockpit and then threw him into Hailey.
She panted, turning towards the remaining, heavily damaged, Zaku's versus her practically unharmed Gundam.
"C-captain...that thing...it's a monster!" Colesawer began to pant, it floated in the middle of the ruined Zakus. Watching them, as if egging them on to fight.
"Ensign, we need to fall back," Hailey said,
"Captain?"
"You're too valuable to the Assault Force. Our nation spent precious money on you, and I don't feel like writing a report about how you got turned into a hamburger."
"But-"
"No buts!" Grabbing the Ensign's mobile suit, they sped back towards the Opulent.
"This is Rose. Remaining enemies are retreating." The bridge gaped,
"She took down four Zakus in less than five minutes…" John gaped, 'Is it the machine...or is it the pilot?'
He doubted he'd ever know the answer. But if the answer was what he thought it was, then he was sure it wasn't just battleships that were on their way out.
For the rest of the trip, the crew remained respectfully wary of Rose. There were rumors that she was some kind of super-soldier experiment by the Federation forces.
Rose, of course, was not ignorant of all this. And slowly began to foster doubts in her own mind. Just...what was she. She'd never thought about it before. Everything that happened to her, she just went with it without digging too deeply into it. But now, as people around her were slowly beginning to take notice of her abilities. She realized that she needed to figure things out, and quickly.
She rolled out of her bunk, 'No point in moping about it…'
A/N: Yes, I made an 0080 Reference. No, I actually haven't seen the OVA yet (I'm going to because - Christmas). But who can escape all the Bernie Hamburger memes?
