Cody and Matt Hawkes both had been High Mountain Rangers. Now they have families of their own and their kids are mostly grown up and they are following in their parents' footsteps. Someone from Matt and Cody's past has come back into their life. She will change Cody's life forever, if her past does not kill them first.

Chapter 5

The rangers were all gathered around the table to eat dinner.

Ranger Josh Cutler said, "Attention everyone, I have an announcement to make. Standing or should I say sitting before us today, we have 24-year-old Ranger Jasper Matthew Hawkes. Who, today become the third generation of Hawkes to climb down Dead Drop Wall. A feat most in this room, will never do and most hope never to do."

The rangers just started singing… "for he is a jolly good fellow", there was cheering and someone shouting, "speech, speech," Matt and Robin walk in with a cake with candles.

Jasper said in his humorous way, "Ladies, gentlemen, mom and dad I am honor to except this cake on behalf of the climber who decided to go down Dead Drop Wall today. With that fall he gave me an opportunity to save him and climb down Dead Drop Wall. Something I hope never to do again. Lucky for that climber, he will be just fine," Jasper blew out the candles.

"You said it little Brother," Jessica said as she gave her brother a side hug and a kiss on the top of his head.
