It's time for more Green Gaul!
Not a big chapter this time around, but given on where our favorite green bean and his classmates are headed, next chapter should be a doozy.
Also, sorry for the lateness of the post, Real Life (health and job searching) has been taking up most of my time, as well as the writer's block I had with the recent chapter of "Bearer of the Light".
I did start a Kofi page, seeing some of my other writer's do the same thing, but I'm not expecting anything, I write because I enjoy it and it helps me relax.
Anyway, onto the reviews:
solbandgus: I think it's an insult to Endeavour tbh, haha. Yea, I am not fan of the Pomeranian, and will enjoy the slapstick headed his way. And it's not surprising Mina is a little taken, the guy took an explosion for her! :O
Monster King: Glad you enjoyed it and hope you enjoy this latest chapter.
Guest 1: I'll be honest, probably a OTP with Izuku/Mina/Tsu... as they are my two favorite class 1-A ladies.
Guest 2: Thanks and you too!
LoamyCoffee: To give a small timeline preview, The infamous "river scene" took place just before Izuku went on that fated trip to France and he dun fell into a cauldron. Both Him and Bakugo forgetting one another makes sense, given that Izuku had to live at UA since then and do we really remember everyone we met that young if you don't interact with them from time to time?
And yea, Izuku learning from Lunch Rush has it's advantages.
Anyway, enjoy the latst chapter all!

Chapter 5
Little Knight
[The Day of the Battle Trials - Support Course]
"Are you sure about this, sir?" Higari Maijima, aka Power Loader, asked Nezu, who was standing beside the hunched over support hero as both looked on to the madness that was transpiring before them on several monitors, "She's only a first-year after all, not to discredit her considering what she's already made since the beginning of the semester, but most of her prototypes often explode."
"Your concerns are noted, Maijima." The small chimera spoke, his hands behind his back as manic cackling echoed throughout the development studio; even if they were in the support teacher's office with his security cameras, they could still make out the noise, "And while her inventions often explode, those that do work are beyond anything we have seen coming out of the other support students, gifted as they are."
"But even I couldn't get the "Limiter" Project to operate correctly!" The metallic-headed hero grunted, "My last prototype did nothing when Izuku wore them; they broke when he lifted his arm!"
"And it was an excellent attempt, don't forget that he was able to wear them up until that point, where the other ones couldn't handle him twitching his fingers." The dean pointed out with a smile, with Power Loader nodding his head solemnly.
"Besides, at some point, Midoriya will have to leave UA and pursue his own life." Nezu spoke seriously, "As much as I am sure many of our faculty wouldn't wish it, we cannot keep him confined to the university as some animal. I won't allow it, nor would Getafix or his mother."
"Seeing him become a Pro Hero in his own right would not only be both a glorious thing to see with all of his hard work he's put into it, but also sad since that means the big guy will have to leave." Maijima spoke with sadness, his arms crossed over his chest. While it wasn't surprising how most of the faculty at UA had taken to the ever-present green-haired boy throughout the years, some even considering him family in some instances, knowing that at some point Izuku would need to leave and explore the world on his own without them always went unsaid during many of the staff meetings or get-togethers.
"Regardless, let's hope that Miss Hatsume is successful, not only for the budget regarding maintenance and repairs for the school grounds but also to allow Midoriya some modicum of normalcy." Nezu spoke gently, squinting at one screen, "Maijima, you have your flask of Magic Potion on you right now, correct?"
"Uhhh, it should be on my desk; why?" The teacher asked as Nezu pointed towards the screen, seeing his pupil taking hold of the flash containing the golden liquid beside the water bottle the young inventor was reaching for, "Holy-! We need to stop he-"
Nezu raised his hand to stop the man, the smile on his snout slowly widening as both he and the support teacher watched the young woman downed the entire thing, and somewhat familiar sparks began to shoot off her before the whole room basked in bright golden light.
[Two days later]
"You wanted to see me, Nezu?" Izuku called out, walking towards the diminutive dean in the middle of the training field, where he and his 'uncles' Aizawa and Maijima were also standing idly by. He could also see his grandfather making his way toward the group hurriedly.
"Good Morning, Midoriya!" The dean replied with a big smile, "I take it you had a good run this morning?"
"Yeah, but the mecha boar I was using seemed off," The boy replied, standing before the trio, "It seemed harder to pin down today, so I had to break it just to stop."
"Ah, you must have used one of the boars Miss Hatsume has been tinkering with." Nezu spoke with his hands behind his back, "I wouldn't mention breaking it when she arrives, though, as she takes great pride in her work."
"O-Oh… "Izuku seemed a little taken back and saddened at the blunder on his part, granted it was hard to tell one boar from the next in the staging area, granted he should have realized that one, in particular, was different since it had a large 'MH' logo on its back leg.
Taking note of Izuku's downcast look, Maijima went up to the boy and patted his shoulder, "Don't worry about it, kiddo. I told Hatsume they tended to get roughed up anyway, given they were used for 'quirk training'." The metal-headed teacher made a motion as if to 'wink', which was hard to see under the helmet, but the message was received and made Izuku smirk.
"Thanks, Uncle Maijima."
"Well, aside from one of the training boars being a little peculiar, why have you called for us, Nezu?" Getafix asked as everyone turned towards him. The dean simply smiled up at the old druid.
"Well, we have some good news and, I'm afraid, bad news regarding Mr. Midoriya's limiter bracers." He started to say as two robots pulled two rather heavy-looking punching machines with displays towards the small group, with a pink-haired young woman lugging a rather heavy-looking box behind them.
Izuku, being the kind soul that he was, quickly made his way over to her and offered to carry it. As this was going on, Nezu continued his explanation with everyone watching the scene before them, "That there is Miss Mei Hatsume, a first-year support student that was able to, at the very least, come up with a solution to not only the durability of the gear but also withholding the might that is Mr. Midoriya."
"So far, she's only got the one bracer right now; the other is going through final diagnostics and should be ready before your little trip this afternoon." Maijima spoke up, looking towards Aizawa, "We don't know if both will affect his speed, but we are looking into a foot and leg variant right now, should these two work."
"Good, it's only rescue training today at the USJ, but it will be a decent' test run' as long as he can take them off for extractions." The tired teacher said before looking back towards Nezu, "Is All Might here yet? Or is he still showboating on his way to work again?"
"While maintaining his presence as a Pro Hero to instill the hearts of the public is admirable, I will have to agree with Aizawa on this particular issue, given this hasn't been the first time he's used up his "limit" even before the school day has started." Getafix said with a somber tone, the man's stubbornness reminding the druid of a few Gauls who were the same way.
"If this happens today, I'll remind him of his priorities, especially after the trouble with the press yesterday." The dean replied while still watching the interaction between the now flustered boy and overly-excited girl, "All Might's tardiness aside, I should get to the bad news regarding the new limiters."
Nezu turned himself around to Getafix, staring into the old man's eyes, who looked confused, "Getafix, Mei Hatsume chugged an entire flask of Magic Potion."
"W-WHAT?!"
"Hey there!" Izuku said, running towards the young woman currently struggling with the rather heavy-looking box, "Would you like any help?"
"Huh? Oh yea, sure, I guess! Sometimes I even have issues carrying my babies around!" The pink-haired girl said with a bright smile, but then taking notice of the… rather large guy in front of her suddenly blushing, "Hey? What's wrong?"
Said large guy slowly pointed towards the case, "T-There's a baby in there?"
"Huh? Of course, there is!" The young woman said, ignoring the man's pale face in front of her, "I worked hard designing and testing this baby out! I spent almost the entire last two days working on it! Mind you, I had to fix that costume as well…."
"O-Oh! I get it now!" Izuku said, holding a fist onto an open palm, "You call things you make 'babies'!"
"Well, duh, what else would I have called them? You're looking at Mei Hatsume, future CEO of Hatsume Industries!" The woman spoke with solid confidence in her voice as if it was stating a mere fact.
Izuku smiled at her, "Oh! You're a support student? W-Well, my name is Izuku Midoriya; I'm in the first year hero cour–"
"Hold on!" Mei shouted loudly, pointing at him, "You're 'Izuku Midoriya'?"
Izuku merely blinked and nodded, while the grin on Mei's face turned into a full-blown smile, suddenly pouncing on the boy. Before he could protest or ask what she was doing, Izuku could feel her hands run across his arms and chest, causing the more giant green-haired boy to fluster and whatever he was going to say to get stuck in his throat from the pink-haired supports student's eagerness to grope him!
Eventually, he was able to say something, "W-What are you doing?"
"Hmm? Oh, I'm taking your measurements!" Mei said with the most casual tone to her voice, even if it didn't match up with her smile, "Your costume was practically in shreds when I got it, and though I had to practically scrap it and start fresh, I had your measurements on hand, but I prefer my own methods!"
"Y-your own methods?"
"Uh-huh!" Mei beamed a smile at him as she suddenly knelt down and gripped his thick and muscular calves, freezing the boy in place, "This way, I can accurately measure things with my hands and zoom in with my quirk to make sure that any future clients I have and all the possible babies I make in the future are working at top efficiency!" Mei said as she finished patting down his other leg and then rose up, looking up to the boy with her eyes adjusting back to "normal" sight, "And with that, I can promise you that your suit and the other brace should be ready before lunch, that's a Hatsume Guarantee!"
Izuku just kept staring at the somewhat eccentric young inventor, clearly trying to register that sheer amount of passion displayed in building support gear, and as his brain finally rebooted back to full power, a lingering thought suddenly resurfaced from his encounter earlier in the day, "M-Mei… out of curiosity, you didn't happen to work on one of the mechanical boars Unc- Power Loader keeps in development studio 'Omega', did you?."
"Yep!" Mei replied with no hesitation, "I was able to sneak one back to my workstation and make some improvements on it! It was already a pretty sturdy baby, but what's the fun in not improving its motor capabilities and durability since it looks like it takes a constant beating!" The woman then crossed her arms under her chest, as if putting them on display, but being totally ignorant of it (as well as Izuku looking away, considering he was much taller than her and, admittedly, had a good 'bird's eye' view), "Man, those third years really don't know when to hold back, do they?"
"Ha ha… yea... third years…." Izuku said, still keeping his gaze away and rubbing the back of his head, "A-Anyway, we should head towards the teachers now; I'll carry that case for you, though."
"Awesome, thanks, Big Green!" Mei smiled up at him, dropping the case with a loud thud and heading off towards the group of teachers, who looked to be arguing about something from the audible 'What' coming from his Grandpa.
Looking down at the case, Izuku stared at it for a few moments, hesitating to reach down and lift the object. After all, this wasn't the first time the promise of support gear to help control his near god-like strength, and throughout the years and constant disappointments, Izuku learned that such a thing was a fantasy.
He had no reason to doubt Mei's attempt at the near-impossible feat, given her improvements to the mechanical boar that gave him a run for his money for a change. Izuku reached down to the case's handle and pulled on it with a gentle sigh.
Izuku blinked, frowning with a slight grunt escaping from his lips as he lifted the rather hefty case with one hand. Realization struck him as his gaze slowly turned towards Mei, chatting up a storm with Power Loader, trying to calm her down.
A small smile began to spread across Izuku's lips, and as he headed toward the small group, The boy realized that this Mei Hatsume could be the person that could help him achieve his goal.
As well as how excited he was looking towards her improvements to his costume.
"Dude! What's with those metal braces?" Kaminari asked, leaning over the backrest of the bus seat in front of him, much to the annoyance of Mina and Toru, "Some new gear to amp up even more of your crazy strength?"
"N-No!" Izuku raised his hands up, the shining metallic bracers on his wrists polished to a crazy degree, with a locking mechanism that could be seen from the 'underside' of simple looking things, "T-they are new limiters that hold back my strength!"
"What?! Why would you wanna do that?" The blonde boy exclaimed, as everyone began to hush and listen, especially Todoroki, who had remained quiet and to himself but was now paying attention to the conversation, "I'd love to have that strength!"
"You really wouldn't…." Izuku said in a somber tone suddenly, fidgeting with his left hand rubbing the right bracer, "Honestly, and it's weird to call it this, but it's almost like a curse."
"Not counting the amount of food I need to eat, the strength is always 'ON', and most of the time, I have to be really careful, or I could cause a lot of damage. God knows I went through about fifteen beds when I was just a small kid just from barely moving in my sleep, waking up in nothing but splinters or feathers when we tried futons."
Izuku then looked to Kaminari, smirking at him, "I can see the benefits of having the strength, speed, and durability my 'quirk' gives me, but honestly, there were times when I wished I had something like my mother's telekinesis or my father's fire breath."
"Ah man, I'm sorry, Midoriya… I wasn't trying to be mean or anything," Kaminari said, resting his head on the back seat, "But you gotta admit, being able to punch anything into orbit has to be fun sometimes!"
"I mean… sure, I guess…." Izuku chuckled once more, rubbing the back of his head, "But it kinda loses its luster after a while, especially—" Izuku suddenly shut his mouth, blushing a bit as everyone seemed to quirk an eyebrow at him due to his actions.
"Midori-bro, what were you going to say?"
"Nothing!" Izuku replied quickly, looking towards Kirishima, "Nothing at all–"
"He sent a Pro Hero skyward and into Tokyo Bay when he was eight years old." Aizawa suddenly spoke from his seat, his eyes still closed, 'pretending' to nap as everyone's gazes had moved from their homeroom teacher back towards the green-haired boy, who kept looking at his pseudo uncle with a look of betrayal on his face.
"Holy smokes! I remember that!" Toru suddenly spoke up, her gloves bouncing as if to tell the rest of her peers she was doing the same, "It was that hero, um…."
"... Spatial Defender…" Izuku said with a sigh, hanging his head now.
"Midoriya!" Iida suddenly spoke up, chopping his arm robotically, "I know it was quite a long time ago, but I cannot condone such behavior as a fellow hero student!"
"Relax, Prez…" Sero chuckled at the Class President's antics, "I'm sure the big guy had his reasons for doing that when he was a kid." The tape-dispensing student looked towards Izuku, who was now staring outside the window, gazing at the moving landscape, ".. You had a good reason, right Midoriya?"
There was a brief silence before a clearing of Aizawa's throat caught Izuku's attention, which further flustered the boy before he grumbled low, "didittoprotectbigsisnemuri".
"Louder, problem child or I'll tell them."
"I did it because I thought I was protecting Midnight." Izuku said a little louder and with a heavy blush, frowning at Aizawa, who merely smirked from within his scarf.
"Manly!" Kirishima exclaimed, with mostly everyone else laughing at the image of a much smaller Izuku launching a grown man into the air.
Momo, trying to stifle her own giggles, took a quick breath of air before looking toward Izuku, "I'm sure your reasoning was noble, Midoriya, but Miss Midnight is a competent heroine in her own right; I'm sure she could handle herself."
"S-She can! B-but she was in civilian clothes, and he kept trying to flirt with her, even though he could clearly see me and saw her reject him several times. At the time, Death Arms, his sidekick, was trying to get him to leave as well… he didn't take the hint, and seeing Midnight started to get uncomfortable… well…."
"Oh my god! That is so adorable!" both Mina and Toru shouted, jumping from their seats and smiling brightly, at least, you could tell with Mina.
Said pink-skinned girl kept smiling as she pointed at the now flummoxed Izuku, "You were totally her knight in shining armor!"
"I-I was not! I acted without thinking, that's all!" Izuku protested, earning more laughter and a big smile from Mina, who seemed to have a rather odd look in her eye from what he could tell.
It sent a tingle down his spine for whatever reason.
"Midoriya, kero." Tsu suddenly spoke up from beside him, having been the only person to sit on the same seat with the more giant young boy and still be comfortable, "Can I ask you something?"
"S-Sure, Asui–"
"Tsu. kero."
"R-right, Tsu… what is it?"
"If you had to fight someone like All Might, who would win?"
That got everyone to settle down and get their focus back on the conversation; looking from one green-haired individual to the next, Izuku merely blinked a couple times before he crossed his arms over his chest, leaning back in the chair and seemed to be deep in thought, "I honestly don't know, I mean… yea I'm super strong, but it's All Might!"
"I mean, he's got a point." Sato spoke up with Tokoyami nodding his head in agreement beside him, "Even with Midoriya being wicked strong, All Might's been a pro hero for almost thirty years, and even then, those fights don't last that long."
"True, but when was the last time you saw All Might fight a guy with the power like Midori-bro?" Kirishima asked, looking toward the sugar-consumer hero student, "Heck, I'd say Todoroki, Bakugo, and he could give All Might a run for his money in a fight or other areas."
"But Bakugo could never be as popular as All Might, given his horrible attitude," Tsu said bluntly, with a finger on her chin, as the shocking quiet Bakugo suddenly fixed a glare at the young woman, his hands sparking with tiny explosions.
"What did you say, frog face?!"
"Totally! Your personality is like burning garbage soaked in vomit!" Kaminari spoke up suddenly, laughing aloud, as did a few others with the relatively accurate yet vulgar comparison. Bakugo began to bark back at the electricity user. Iida tried to calm down the explosive teen as Tsu gently poked Izuku's side to get his attention.
"Y-Yea Tsu? What's up?"
"I tend to speak bluntly because I can't really convey my emotions properly due to my quirk, but what you did for Midnight was really sweet." Tsu said with her usual blank stare, though Izuku's cheek began to redden slightly, smiling at her.
"T-thank you, like I said–"
"And if that was me, I'd make sure to properly reward you for being my knight." The frog girl said, still in a low tone to make sure only Izuku could hear, catching himself off guard and spluttering out whatever words he was going to say.
And thinking they were quiet enough, both of them failed to realize that a pink-skinned young woman had been able to hear over the ruckus around her, raising an eyebrow of interest as her mind filled with many questions.
And as the bus continued on towards the 'surprise' rescue training, Mina Ashido could feel a small pit begin to form in the bottom of her stomach as she watched the interactions between the frog-like woman and the giant cinnamon roll of a man.
