Sonic in...
Out of this Dimension - Part 2

Last time, Sonic and Tikal had left Mobius in order to help quell the darkness in Sonic's heart, landing themselves in a dimension in which the genders were flipped. Meeting this world's Sonic, Nicky the Hedgehog, the two briefly fought against Omelette, the dimension's Eggman. After this meeting, the two set off once again to the next big adventure, wondering what sort of dimension they'll end up in next...

Dimension BK; Deep Woods

*Within a deep set of woods elsewhere, a lone blue hedgehog in armor from head to toe, obscuring his face yet revealing blue spines on the back, was seen playing with an old medieval guitar/string instrument with a sword leaned against a tree beside him.*

Voice: "Are you ever going to take your duties seriously? Surely you know what must be done."

Hedgehog: "Aye. I know, Caliburn. But ye must have patience. Rushing into battle is a quick and easy way to lose one's head. Very literally I may add."

Caliburn: "Sigh... A knight who knows how to swing a blade better than any general of any army, and yet he insists on taking things at his own pace..."

Hedgehog: "Trust me. I have a feeling something about today shall change."

*The hedgehog looks up, stopping his string playing as he sees a portal open and another blue hedgehog fall out of the sky with the glowing ball of Tikal.*

Sonic: "Whew! That never stops getting exciting!"

Tikal: "Sure, running headfirst into the nearest portal. Despite my constant warnings to you to be careful as we proceed."

*Sonic raises his hands defensively as he smiles sheepishly.*

Sonic: "Alright, alright. Warning heeded..."

Caliburn: "What sorcery is this!? Knight! Draw me quick, for this may be another of the false king's tricks!"

Hedgehog: "No trick here, Caliburn."

*The hedgehog in armor gets up, placing his string instrument aside as he approaches Sonic.*

Hedgehog: "This may be who I was looking for."

Sonic: "And who's tall, blue, and handsome?"

Hedgehog: "Is that how you greet people? I must say, you are a funny one! You can call me Knight..."

Sonic: "Knight?"

Calliburn: "Knight! Why are you speaking to this...mirror image!? Of what secrets doth thou hide from me!"

Knight: "Easy now, Caliburn. No need to shout."

Tikal: "Indeed. We are not enemies to either of you. I am Tikal. And friend here is..."

Sonic: "Sonic. Sonic the Hedgehog. And the talking sword?"

Caliburn: "I am the legendary sword, Caliburn, knave. And though shall treat me with respect as I- AH!"

*Knight lefts Caliburn up and sheathes him into the sword sheathe on his hip. This seems to silence Caliburn, though his muffled protests could be heard."

Knight: "Pray forgive the 'knave' comment. Caliburn has a hard time trusting others, I'm afraid."

Sonic: "No big deal. Sort of reminds me of another friend of mine back home. By the way, you said you were 'looking for me'... What did you mean?"

Knight: "Ah yes. Perhaps A bit too forward with that greeting. My apologies. What I meant by that was that I had a premonition of my next battle. If I had gone alone, I would be struck down and the world plunged into a great darkness... And yet, a blue light shown through this darkness, revealing someone like me who stands beside me. And you, my friend, may be who can help me..."

Sonic: "You had me at 'battle' and 'world plunged into darkness'. So next fight determines the fate of the world. Good to know."

*Knight pulls out Caliburn to get his input.*

Caliburn: "Bah! You... Ahem. So you knew of your fate of the coming battle and that's why you decided to wait?"

Knight: "Understand, Caliburn, I will fight to protect my world, but I cannot protect it if I am slain."

Caliburn: "Nay. You are right. I suppose I should critique you for not at least telling me, but... I shall let it slide."

Sonic: "So you guys cool then?"

Knight: "By 'cool', I assume you mean 'ready'. Then yes, I am ready."

Sonic: "Cool. Lead on then, Knight."

*Knight nods before running ahead of Sonic, he using the power to manipulate wind to move fast, which surprised even Sonic.*

Sonic: "...Guess I shouldn't have expected anything less."

*Sonic run after Knight, catching up to the armor-clad hedgehog as they raced toward Dark Hollow.*

Dark Hollow

*Within the strange, demented area with a crimson sky hanging above, Sonic and Knight entered, the blue blur taking a moment to admire the scenery.*

Sonic: "Huh. Some place. Be a good place for a picnic."

Knight: "I suppose I have seen worse places."

Caliburn: "You two are a few stone tosses away from anything resembling a good picnic place."

Knight: "Tis a joke, Caliburn. But enough about that... See that spire of darkness?"

*Knight points to a large spire of energy, darkness swirling around it as if ready to spread to the world around.*

Sonic: "I see it alright... Is that where the battle takes place?"

Knight: "Close enough."

*Knight readies his sword as three figures walk out of the entrance cave to greet them. Each resembled Sonic's own friends, Knuckles, Shadow, and Blaze, all wearing armor. Sonic was about to say something but stopped himself as he reminded himself that these were not his friends; they were part of this dimension.*

Sonic: "So who the guys in armor? Friends of your's?"

Knight: "They are the Knights of the Round Table. The echidna, Sir Gawain. The black hedgehog, Sir Lancelot. And the cat, Sir Percival."

Sonic: "Shouldn't it be 'Lady' Percival? I mean... I know a cat like her and-"

Percival: "Silence, knave. I am Sir Percival, and you shall remember it as I soak the ground we stand on in your blood."

Sonic: "...And I thought Blaze was edgy..."

Knight: "Forgive her. She hath been hexed by the Dark Queen Merlina after the fall of the false king."

Sonic: "False king?"

Knight: "A month ago, a king rose to power by using the scabbard of Excalibur to claim the throne, claiming a name that truly isn't his - Arthur."

Sonic: 'Excalibur? Arthur? Like in the stories I read as a kid?'

Knight: "I met a woman sorceress who I helped in her time of need when the king raised an army. Thanks to her, I was able to find Caliburn..."

Caliburn: "And with my help, we were able to slay the false king."

Knight: "Shortly thereafter however, the girl revealed her true motives... Shedding away the sheep's wool, she stole the scabbard and hexed the Knights into serving her. That girl...was Merlina, the granddaughter of Merlin, the wise elder."

Sonic: "I thought the names all sounded familiar... In my world, these names are passed down as legends. Legends far older than I or even the world I live in. But they do exist..."

Knight: "Your world must be far different than here, Sonic."

Lancelot: "Are you two done talking? My patience grows thin..."

Gawain: "Sir Knight, your deeds against the queen shan't go unpunished! Prepare to meet thy end!"

Sonic: "Yeah, I like my knucklehead better."

*Sonic then vanishes in a flash, appearing behind Gawain.*

Sonic: "Doesn't mean I won't kick your butt all the same."

*Gawain turns and gets kicked in the face by Sonic, sending him sliding back from the force. Percival and Lancelot were stunned by just how fast Sonic was.*

Lancelot: "What sorcery...?"

Knight: "Hardly sorcery, Sir Lancelot! It is skill!"

*Knight jumps into the fray, holding Caliburn ready for a downward air slash. Lancelot pulls out his sword, the sacred weapon Arondight, to block the attack.*

Lancelot: "Nice try, Knight. But I am not so easy to bring down."

Knight: "And you have forgotten who you are fighting, Lancelot!"

*Sonic stands there as Gawain stands up from being kicked down, the knight glaring at Sonic.*

Sonic: "Hey, not my fault your guard was down."

Percival: "As yours is, wretched hedgehog!"

*Sonic narrowly dodges a swing from Percival's rapier, Laevatien, which was coated in fire. He jumps away from the cat as Gawain pulls out a pair of twin axes, the weapon Galatine.*

Sonic: "...Not gonna lie, seeing you two with weapons just looks weird."

*Gawain swings at Sonic with a downward swing, with Percival coming up for a follow up.*

Gawain: "What's so weird about it!? We are all knights! Draw your weapon, fool!"

Sonic: "Sorry, but I fight with my fists... Or rather..."

*Sonic starts spinning like he was charging a Spin Attack before dropping an axe kick on Gawain's head, creating a small crater underneath.*

Sonic: "My feet."

Percival: "I will admit, you didn't look it. But I see you are no ordinary warrior. But no matter, I, Sir Percival, shall fight you to the death. Only one of us will walk away from this battle."

Sonic: "Uh huh... How about a different plan?"

*Sonic begins to run around Percival, confusing her and putting her on guard as he became a blur to her. She soon starts choking as she realized the air around her was being sucked away.*

Percival: "Ack! ...My...air... Can't...breathe..."

Sonic: "Whoop. Better put the brakes on that."

Percival: "Dirty...cough...coward... Fight...like a real warrior..."

Sonic: "Yeah, sorry. Hard to fight how you want me to when I've only been fighting one way my whole life."

Gawain: "Rrgh... Fine..."

*Gawain stabs his axes into the ground and cracks his knuckles, deciding to go fist to fist.*

Sonic: "Alright. This is more like it. Let's go, Knuc- er... Sir Gawain!"

*Sonic puts up his fists as Gawain comes at him, sharing the same feats of strength as Knuckles from the former's world. Lancelot and the Knight continue their fight, blades clashing in a scene not dissimilar to Sonic and Shadow's fights. Lancelot bounces off the next clash and jumps off a rock to try and slash the Knight, but the Knight counters and sends Lancelot's blade flying in the air, before stabbing into the ground nearby.*

Knight: "A valiant effort, Lancelot. But you still cannot defeat me."

Lancelot: "'Still'? While we have crossed blades during my crusade under the false king, why do you say such as if we have fought more than that?"

Knight: "I'm surprised, Sir Lancelot. You of all people should recognize he who you swore loyalty to."

*The Knight takes off his helmet, which obscured all but the blue quills on the back of his head. Lancelot gasps as he sees a face he hadn't seen in a long time. As well as the indication of who the Knight was though a scar Lancelot made a long time ago.*

Lancelot: "A...Arthur..."

*The other two knights cease their fighting as they hear the name 'Arthur'. Lancelot stares on before clenching his head, screaming out as darkness radiates out of him and the other knights.*

Caliburn: "Now, Sir Arthur! Slice the darkness and cleanse their hearts!"

Arthur: "Evil that has corrupted my kingdom, begone from this world! And never return!"

*Arthur jumps at the combined darkness and slices at it, cutting it in two before it vanishes completely. The knights are left confused, feeling as if they had just awoken. But it is soon they find Arthur standing, Caliburn in hand.*

Percival: "K-King Arthur!"

Gawain: "The real King Arthur!"

*The knights take a knee behind Arthur, bowing to him loyally as Sonic watches from the side.*

Percival: "Your majesty... Many apologies for our transgressions... We were not in control of ourselves..."

Lancelot: "Indeed... I had recognized your fighting style, but it took me much longer to truly realize it was you, old friend... I'm sorry..."

Arthur: "Arise, my knights... And drop the 'king' title. I came back not to reclaim the throne. I am not worthy of such a title..."

Gawain: "Not worthy? But sire... Why..."

Arthur: "I feigned my death long ago due to the pressures of being king. I felt I could not handle it and felt overwhelmed by the demands of the people... As a king, I could no more than give false promises... A man who cannot live up to those promises is no man at all... But when I heard tell of the 'return of King Arthur'... I knew the false king to be an imposter..."

Lancelot: "As did I... I knew Arthur more than anyone... And I knew that black knight could not be our king..."

Arthur: "If there is anything this journey has taught me... It has taught me that a knight never flees his foe..."

Sonic: "You just gotta do what you gotta do... Right?"

*Sonic approaches Arthur, the latter smiling.*

Arthur: "Indeed... While our time has been brief, the way you handle yourself... It speaks to me in a way... And it shows that I should never give up..."

*Sonic smiles, nodding at Arthur declaration.*

Caliburn: "Arthur... You have truly grown in these past weeks since we met... I... I am beside myself..."

Arthur: "Thank you, Caliburn... My partner..."

*Arthur then turns facing the entrance to the Dark Queen's lair.*

Arthur: "Knights of the Roundtable. You have done your fair share. Leave she who has caused us so much suffering to me... She will see reason...by my hand..."

*The knights all look on at Arthur's bravery before they all offer their weapons to him.*

Percival: "Your majesty, your bravery knows no bounds. We, your knights, have renewed faith in your strength."

Gawain: "Though I wish to stand by your side in the next battle, I know you would prefer to face the final conflict alone. And so, let us battle beside you in spirit."

Lancelot: "Together, as your brothers-in-arms, we shall cleanse the land of Mobelot* of the Dark Queen's evil. You have our loyalty, our strength, and our hearts... King Arthur."
* - Mobelot = Camelot + Mobius

*Caliburn begins to glow a golden light, Arthur raising the blade into the sky as the weapons float around him. The light engulfs him as Arthur is coated in golden armor, from head to toe, Caliburn turning from a simple broadsword into an elegant long sword with a golden guard to match the armor Arthur wore. A red cape materializes on the back of Arthur's armor as he floats just off the ground. Sonic whistles at the sight, pretty happy to see Arthur in his own super form.*

Sonic: "So, think you'll need a hand or...?"

Arthur: "Nay, Sonic. You have done enough. This is my fight. With Excalibur, the prayers of my knights, and the land of Mobelot's hearts beating as one, I shall not falter!"

Sonic: "Then... Good luck, Sir Arthur."

Arthur: "And thank you... Sir Sonic."

*Arthur walks into the Dark Queen's lair, ready for the final battle as Sonic turns and walks away, leaving through a portal made by Tikal, much to the knights' confusion.*

Dimensional Gateway

*Sonic stands as the portal closes, Tikal smiling at him.*

Tikal: "So everything go okay?"

Sonic: "Yep. Sure did. Though... I'll admit... I am a little sad to say good bye to him..."

Tikal: "I know how you feel, Sonic... Goodbyes are never easy..."

Sonic: "...He may say he wasn't fit to be king... But if you ask me, he'll make the best king on this side of the multiverse..."

*Sonic sighs before walking with Tikal.*

Sonic: "So... Where to next?"

Tikal: "Well, I would say-"

*A sudden shake in the Gateway causes Sonic to stop. Tikal looked around, confused.*

Sonic: "Uh... This place isn't supposed to shake, is it?"

Tikal: "Something somewhere seems to be affecting the Gateway. I just sensed a large surge of power!"

*Sonic and Tikal turn to find a sudden veil of darkness push at them, knocking Sonic off the tracks and falling into a portal in the dark side of the Gateway.*

Tikal: "SOOOONIIIIIC!"
