September 18th, 0079 - Side 7

A Zaku activated its mono-eye as it steadily floated towards a lone space colony, before long it landed on the side of the colony, and was joined by its two comrades.

Looking around, it came into focus on a nearby hatch. Pointing to it, it and its comrades surrounded the hatch, where one of the Zaku's kneeled down and twisted a knob, opening the hatch and allowing the mobile suits inside.

'God bless Zeon-built colonies.' The pilot thought as he and his comrades descended down the hole, knocking away a piece of machinery in the process. The Zaku approached the second hatch, cracked slightly open, and peered through it before its mono-eye moved to face his comrade.

"Slender, you stay here and keep us covered." The pilot ordered,

"Understood Captain." Slender nodded,

Once the second door was open, two Zakus jumped down into the colony below, before using their thrusters to land as softly as possible.

One of the pilots stepped out, and used his Zaku's hand as a makeshift platform for him to look out into the colony.

"Hmm…their military headquarters is in Sector 19. But there doesn't seem to be any activity." The pilot noted, "Hell…there isn't any activity anywhere. Military or otherwise…it's like a ghost town."

"Well, there is that one kid…" His comrade noted.

"Amuro?" A brown haired girl entered the house, noticing the plate still covered with a light blue cloth and still stacked with food, she sighed.

"He hasn't even eaten breakfast yet…!" The girl said incredulously, running up the steps, she walked into Amuro's room.

"Honestly…you spend every minute of your life working! You haven't even had breakfast yet, that isn't healthy you know!"

"Morning, Amuro! Morning, Amuro!" Haro rolled into the room and chirped,

"Morning Haro." Amuro said dismissively.

"Honestly - do you even know what to wear? We need to hurry!" The girl insisted, and when she got no response, she called his name again.

"I'll eat in a minute Fraw…" Amuro muttered,

"Honestly - forget eating! Didn't you get the evacuation orders!?"

"We're evacuating? No wonder they're blowing the sirens."

"Don't you listen to army broadcasts?!" Fraw asked incredulously,

"I'll get changed in a sec, don't worry about it."

Fraw shook her head, before rushing back outside, where Hayato and his mother were waiting.

"Hayato! Why didn't you get Amuro?" Fraw demanded,

"I'm not his caretaker, you know!" Hayato snapped,

"Hayato…what are you mad about?"

"It's just…it constantly seems that they're always causing trouble for us in that research facility of theirs. Remember when we got beaten for trying to see what's up? Even Amuro only got away since his father is Tem Ray. And now its only gotten worse since that Federation ace arrived…"

Fraw sighed, "That's true, but its all for the war effort you know…"

"Whatever, I need to get going." Hayato waved, "I'll see you at the shelter."

Fraw sighed as Amuro pulled up beside her in his car, holding the wheel in one hand and a sandwich in the other. Fraw stared at the lackluster meal with disgust and scoffed as she entered the passenger seat.

Side 7 Federation Headquarters

"Get those Gundam parts loaded onto the White Base immediately! Not sometime next week!" A lieutenant ordered of his subordinates.

"God damn White Base, letting a Zeek ship trail them here. They knew very well Side 7 has been stalked for the past three months." The lieutenant complained, "Now it's put all of us at risk."

From behind, a woman with long golden hair entered the room. "What's the situation looking like?" She asked,

"Colonel Sahalin!" The lieutenant saluted, "The White Base is pulling in to dock right now, and we'll begin loading the Gundam parts, including those for your Golden Gundam."

Rose Sahalin nodded, "I have a bad feeling about this…"

Lieutenant Tem Ray was in the middle of packing up the remainder of his technical equipment when a young Ensign entered his room.

"We're pulling up to Side 7 now sir, will you join us at the bridge?" Bright asked,

"Yes I will thank you." Ray scanned over a blueprint before stowing it away, "You're Ensign Bright Noa - correct?"

"Yes sir."

"How long have you been in the military?" Ray asked,

"I was pushed into service early with most of my class right before the Battle of Loum." Bright stated,

"Not even a year hm? Have you seen any actual combat?"

"Not really sir, I was onboard the Gran Colombia as a junior staff officer. But after Loum I was mostly stationed between Luna II and Jaburo."

"Hm." Ray nodded, "I hope we can get the other Gundam into action right away. I want to end this war before more young men and women get involved." Ray cast a small glance at a portrait of a neatly trimmed and dressed Amuro.

"Is that your son, Lieutenant Ray?" Bright asked curiously,

"Yes." Ray said sadly, "I understand that the Golden Valkyrie herself is not very old herself."

"No sir. I was in her class, she's sixteen."

"Sixteen! And a Colonel!" Ray scoffed, "It must end. Or else there'll be no one left besides old men like us."

As Bright led Tem unto the bridge, Tem respectfully saluted Captain Cassius.

"At ease Lieutenant Ray." Cassius stated,

"Yes sir." Tem stated, "I heard we were being tailed by a Zeon ship, did we lose it?"

"No, I'm afraid it followed us to Side 7."

"That's unfortunate indeed…"

The two Zeon pilots quietly observed a Guncannon being moved out of the headquarters.

"I count three mobile suits that have come out, and there's probably more inside." The first said,

"Then we don't have any time to waste." The second stood, "We need to hit them now!"

"We have orders, directly from Commander Char mind you." The first stated, "We are here strictly for surveillance,"

"So we just stand here while they fill the carrier with those things?! The Golden Gundam itself has already done enough damage on its own!"

"I don't want to see any heroics, this is far from the time for it!" The first pilot snapped,

The second pilot tch'ed, sliding down the slope towards his Zaku.

"Gene - get back here!" The first said,

"I'm going to be famous like Char!" He responded, ignoring his superiors orders.

"Don't do this Gene! We don't know the full capabilities of those Suits yet!" The first pilot called, only to be ignored as Gene boarded his Zaku and closed the cockpit.

"Gene stop! That's an order! You can be courtmartialled for this!" His officer shouted over the comms,

"They don't court martial heroes!" Gene said mockingly, before he shut off his comms. "Once I do this, you'll be taking orders from me."

Taking his Zaku II to the top of the slope, Gene aimed down at one of the mobile suits before squeezing the trigger of his 120mm. Firing off three shots, Gene blew up a Guntank and Guncannon immediately.

In the bomb shelter, they heard the explosions overhead and huddled tighter into their positions.

"Something exploded!"

"Inside the colony?!"

'Oh man…' Amuro thought to himself, 'At this rate, we're sitting ducks!' Thinking quickly, Amuro stood up and rushed to the bulkhead door.

"Where are you going Amuro?!" One old man asked.

"I need to find my father, he might be able to help us evacuate onboard that Federation warship that just came in!" Amuro stated before rushing out of the bunker, barely dodging several spent 120mm catridges that fell from the Zaku.

Amuro looked up at the mobile suit and gasped 'Zeon really is attacking the colony?!' He thought in panic, barely scrambling out of the way as empty casings continued falling down on them, beelining straight for his car, still parked outside the shelter.

As he drove towards the entrance to the military docks nearby, he nearly ran into a military vehicle, barely swerving aside to dodge it.

"What the-! A kid?! All civilians need to be inside the shelter!" The officer shouted,

"My father is on the Federation warship coming in-" Amuro shouted back but then without warning, a slew of 120mm shells flew right over his head and ripped into the officer's car, forcing Amuro to duck down from the heat and shrapnel.

And it was then that Amuro noticed the tarp covering something on a flatbed trailer…

Rose's ears perked up as the sound of explosions reached her ears, right then, an ensign ran up to her.

"Colonel! It's Zeon! They've sent in several mobile suits!" The ensign shouted,

"I know, prepare my mobile suit! I'm heading out!" Rose grabbed her cap and vaulted around the door, moving at breakneck speeds towards the White Base's hangar.

When she reached the hangar, she moved down into the hangar bay.

"Commander!" A mechanic came up to her, "The Gundam is nearly ready, we just need to-"

"Great! Thanks!" Rose brushed past the mechanic and lifted herself up to the Gundam's cockpit.

"We didn't even fix her balancer yet…" The mechanic sighed, as the Gundam launched out of the White Base.

Immediately, Rose took notice of the unbalanced movement of the Golden Gundam.

'They haven't reset the balancer?! It's been weeks!' Rose tch'ed, despite the difficulty, Rose guided the Gundam out of the White Base's hangar and flew out to the colony's exterior, where she was rudely greeted by a hail of 120mm gunfire.

'Damn Zeon built colonies!' Rose swore, scanning around, she located the Zaku, it was firing out of an entrance to the colony.

Rose launched herself towards the Zaku, weaving through the gunfire and drawing her beam saber. Unfortunately, right as she moved in to thrust, her balancer decided to act up and threw her to the side, sending her saber into the colony wall.

'Damn!' Rose barely managed to pull it out in time before a Heat Hawk sliced at where she was seconds before.

Rose managed to take advantage of the miss to put a single beam shot through the Zaku's cockpit, disabling it.

Sighing in relief, she quickly moved into the colony, using one of her work arms to open the door inside.

"Gun...dam!" Amuro's eyes widened with realization 'This was what I saw back then! This is the Gundam!'

Shifting slightly, he heard the crinkling of paper and realized he was sitting on top of a manual.

'A manual…I've seen this symbol…!' Amuro flipped through it, scanning the pages and slowly gaining a better understanding of the Gundam.

"So if I do this…!" Amuro rapidly began working the controls, until finally, the Gundam sat up straight.

"What? Someone is piloting one of them?" Gene muttered, "Oh well, you won't be getting very far!"

Whirling away from his path of destruction, Gene opened fire on the Gundam with his 120mm machine gun.

Amuro yelped in surprise as the rounds impacted him, but to both the surprise of him and Gene, they did no damage.

"What the hell is that thing made of?!" Gene said in surprise, "Those were 120mm rounds!"

"Gene!" His officer shouted, "Pull back! We aren't here to fight!"

Gene was about to snark back when suddenly a barrage of 60mm vulcan fire whizzed past the Zaku's head and grazed its cabling.

"Stabilizer clear…alright! This should do it!" Amuro pushed forward on the controls, bringing the Gundam to its feet with its eyes flashing.

Amuro continued holding down on the Vulcans trigger, pushing the Zakus back as they protected their more weakly protected areas like sensors until finally - a dreadful click was heard.

"He's out of ammo!" Gene sneered, "I can take him!" Drawing his Heat Hawk, Gene prepared to rush forward.

'I can't be a goner!' Amuro said in panic, but right as the Zaku II brought up its hawk for a strike, a beam suddenly penetrated straight through the side of its cockpit and sent it careening to the side, vaporizing the pilot in the process.

"Gene!" The remaining pilot shouted, staring down his deceased comrade. "Damn you!" The Zaku rushed forward, and opened fire.

Amuro - in a panic - manuevered the gundam out of the line of fire, and it was only then he noticed the long train of civilians behind him.

Civilians who were now right in the path of the bullets.

As Amuro moved out of the way, the 120mm shells missed him and proceeded to level the crowded highway, devastating the ranks of civilians and causing them to scatter and panic.

"No!" Amuro screamed as the road lit up with gunfire.

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Fraw be thrown to the side of the road by one of the blasts.

"Fraw!" He manuevers the Gundam over to her to both protect and speak to her, where she was now clutching her deceased mother.

"Fraw! Pull yourself together! Get on the White Base!"

"No..! She needs to be…! She has to be alive!" Fraw cried out,

"Fraw! Get in! Please! Your mother…your mother is gone!" Amuro gripped the controls tighter.

"Have you forgotten about me?!" The officer yelled, suddenly charging forward and moving in to decapitate the Gundam.

'No!' Amuro thought, time seemed to slow as the heat hawk came down…

And exploded in the Zaku's hand.

Without warning, the other golden mobile suit from earlier swooped down and kicked it away.

"Attention Pilot of the RX-78-2." A girls voice suddenly came over comms. "I am directly ordering you to take the Gundam to the White Base, and cover the civilian evacuation. Leave the clearing of the Colony to me."

Amuro eyes widened in surprise, the girl on his screen couldn't be much older than him, but was speaking so authoritatively.

"R-right…" Amuro nodded,

With that, the girl nodded, and a work arm proceeded to extend and reveal a beam saber.

"The Golden Valkyrie…" The Zaku pilot chuckled mirthlessly, "So I won't be making it out of here."

Rose readied herself, before launching the Gundam forward at the Zaku, spreading out the claws of her work arm.

The Zaku ran forward, going in for a massive overhead cleave. Only for the Gundam to duck below it.

'What…?! She dodged it…!' Was his final thought before the saber ran through his cockpit.

Rose pulled the beam saber out and deactivated it and surveyed the damage.

"Completely trashed." Rose said in frustration, looking around at the destroyed base.

"Ma'am!" Bright stated, "We've managed to load an RX-77 GunCannon and RX-75 GunTank onto the White Base!"

"Right. I'll be there soon-" As Rose spoke, the colony suddenly trembled without warning.

'What?!'
