Chapter 3
It's been about a month since the dragon slayers have been attending and they have adjusted fairly well. The dragon-slayers had already managed to learn the history of quirks and heroes of this world.. They now have the general knowledge of the importance of the heroes.
The three had also managed to make quick friends with their classmates, especially Mirio, Tamaki, and Hado. Over the course of a month, they all became good friends. Their studies have been fairly okay. Not necessarily for Natsu and Gajeel as they usually fall asleep in class out of boredom. The two only took their practical and combat training seriously.
"Now class, I have a special announcement to make," Vlad announced. "This year all of you will be participating in the UA's Sports Festival,"
"EH. FOR REAL! AWESOME," the class cheered.
"Sports Festival?" Natsu, Gajeel, and Wendy raised an eyebrow.
"It's like a special event, it's where classes of UA participate in events to show off their skills," Tamaki explained.
"It's also a good way to get publicity, so if you do well enough you get to be scouted by hero agencies," Mirio smiles.
"Yeah, I heard it's super big like every year," Hado smiled. "It contains your standard stuff like a race, but in the end, there's a huge combat tournament,"
"EH FOR REAL! AWESOME!" Natsu stood up from his seat. "I'm all fired up now if we get to fight!"
"Sounds interesting, guess I have to take the top," Gajeel snickered.
"It sounds like a lot of fun," Wendy smiled.
"I'm happy all of you are excited, so I want all of you to spend your week training until the Festival and don't forget to focus on your normal studies, Understand," Vlad shouted.
"YES SIR!" The class bowed.
The class then ended and the dragon slayers and the future Big Three all went to get something to eat together.
"Man this Sports Fest. sounds so awesome I'm definitely taking the top spot!" Natsu said.
"Heh, if anyone is going to take the top it's going to be me," Gajeel snarled,
"Huh, you think you can beat me," Natsu glared.
Gajeel glared "Yeah, your too stupid to win,"
"HUH!" Natsu then jumped on Gajeel and the two began to fight again.
Tamaki signed "Do you two always have to fight, it's embarrassing,"
"I'm sorry these two are always like that, even back home," Wendy apologized.
"Oh that's right, you three come from the same hometown," Hado said.
"Well that alright, It's good to be energetic. I'm super excited too," Mirio laughed. "And I'm going to win, and become a hero,"
"Everyone is so full of energy, right Wendy-chan," Hado smiled.
Wendy nodded "Yeah, it's really excited,"
"Well I'm probably not going to do very well," Tamaki said sadly.
"Huh!" both Natsu and Mirio said.
"What with that attitude Tamaki/Amajiki," they said in unison.
"Huh," Tamaki jumped.
"Seriously with that attitude you're not going to get into a good agency," Hado told him.
"That's right if you keep acting like that no one will take you seriously," Gajeel added.
"Have more confidence in yourself Tamaki, you're super strong," Mirio patted his friend on the back.
"Mirio is right, Amajiki, how are you going to get stronger if you keep up this shy guy act," Natsu told him.
"But I don't shine like you guys," Tamaki said. "You and Mirio especially, as you two shine brighter than the sun,"
"Come on, you have a strong quirk and with enough training, you can beat anyone," Natsu encouraged, and Mirio nodded and gave a thumbs up.
"I see," Tamaki looked away.
"As long as you show your best at the Sports Festival, you'll get scouted Amajiki-san," Wendy smiled.
"Thank you Wendy-san," Tamaki responded.
Wendy then turned to Mirio "Are you going to be okay Mirio-san I mean you still haven't fully controlled your quirk yet,"
Mirio smiled and gave her a thumbs up "Don't worry, I'll make sure no one sees my willy,"
"That's not what she was asking Mirio," Tamaki said.
"I know, but I have to make sure no one sees it, as it's a live broadcast," Mirio smiled "But don't worry as long as we have fun that's all that matters," The others all smiled thanks to Mirio's optimism.
"Alright guys let's go train, and do our best," Natsu and Mirio pumped their fist in the air.
"Yeah," the others nodded.
The group of friends then separated each heading home.
"Man I'm so excited," Natsu grinned "For the Sports Festival,"
"It does sound like a lot of fun, like the festivals we have back home," Wendy smiled.
"Gehehe, yeah can't wait to crush the competition," Gajeel smirked.
"Yeah I'm definitely going to win," Natsu jumped.
The three dragon slayers spent their night's training for the Sports Festival while finding time to study for exams. As the three were training Wendy stopped and turned to Natsu.
"Natsu-san, do you really think Mirio-san will be alright," Wendy asked.
"Yeah, He's strong, he'll be fine," Natsu said as he did his push-ups.
"But he has little control over his quirk,"
"Why are you worried, you heard him right? As long as he has fun it all that matters," Natsu interrupted. "Besides,"
Flashback
A few weeks ago Vlad held a training exercise for the class, where they go head to head. One match up being Natsu v. Mirio.
Natsu had a look of confidence on his face "Come at me with all you got Mirio,"
Mirio smiled "You bet, I'm not going to hold back,"
"Alright you two ready," Vlad asked and the two nodded "Okay begin,"
Natsu charged at Mirio but he stopped in shock when he saw Mirio's clothes slipped off of him "Eh," All the girls in the class went red and all covered their faces all screaming.
Mirio grabbed his pants and tried to put it back on "Sorry, I'm still working on this,"
Natsu then swiftly kicked Mirio in the side, knocking the blonde out in an instant.
"Natsu is the winner," Vlad announced.
Tamaki looked at Mirio "You okay,"
Mirio sat still smiling "Yeah, Natsu got me there, I guess I still have to work on my control,"
"Mirio, you okay," Natsu walked up to him.
Mirio kept his smile "I'm good Natsu, You really are strong," he pumped his arm. "Next time I'll be stronger,
Flashback over
"Mirio is the type of guy who keeps smiling, no matter what challenge he faces," Natsu told her "Even if he gets last he'll keep smiling,"
"I guess," Wendy said remembering Mirio's optimism.
"Besides, having a guy like him makes this place so fun," Natsu grinned.
Wendy smiled "Yeah, he's a lot like you, smiling at any challenge,"
"Right," Natsu grinned. "Come on, let's get back to training," Wendy nodded.
One Week Later
Natsu and his class were all in their P.E. uniforms all prepared for the annual UA Sports Festival. Natsu looked around and saw the other classes, the support, general, and business classes, everyone looked so determined. The class was currently in the center of the large stadium listening to the opening ceremony.
"Wow, so many people in the audience," Hado smiled looking around at the crowd.
Tamaki was shaking "Why, so many people, I can't do it with so many watching. I want to go home,"
"Come on, Tamaki, have some confidence in yourself, you're amazing I'm sure plenty of agencies will want you," Mirio patted his best friend on the back.
"Yeah, how are you going to be a hero with the heart of a fly," Gajeel teased.
Tamaki just looked away embarrassed "Please stop it you guys," The others just laughed at him.
"Okay, everyone the first event of this year's Sports Festival will be.." Midnight shouted and the board revealed the event "A tug of war between classes, each class will grab one end of a rope and the class that falls in the center loses,"
"Tug of war oh yeah, can't wait," Natsu smirked.
"Really, kind sounds like a kids game," Gajeel scoffed.
"It's a game mostly used to test teamwork," Tamaki told them.
"Oh, yeah I remember playing a lot as a kid," Hado smiled.
"Yeah it sounds like fun," Wendy smiled.
"Yeah, let's do it." Mirio cheered.
Tamaki looked up at the board, "It seems we are up against Class A, Eraserheads students,"
"Hmm, alright let's go," Natsu smirked as he and his class got into position.
"Let's do our best, you guys," Mirio cheered, trying to encourage his classmates.
Class B glared down Class A with determination and the other class did the same.
"READY!" Mic Shouted.
"BEGIN!"
Both classes then pulled with all their was then someone on class A's side started to use their quirk to give themselves more power.
Seeing this Gajeel "Not today," Gajeel then turned both his feet into blades and struck them to the ground giving his class more leverage. Other classmates followed suit using their quirks to give their class the advantage.
Class A then started to gain the advantage due to one of their students having a strength enhancement like quirk giving them more power.
Natsu smirked "Now this is getting fun," Natsu then using all his strength plus using his fire as a booster gave his class more power and boost.
"Hey we're doing it, keep going," one of his classmates shouted.
Class B with all their power pulled, and thanks to the added power from Natsu and Gajeel they managed to knock Class A to the ground.
"OH! CLASS 1B HAD DONE IT! THEY BEAT CLASS 1A WITH THEIR OVERALL STRENGTH AND POWER!" Mic yelled "Geez, Eraserhead what are you teaching your kids,"
"Leave me alone," Aizawa retorted.
"OKAY THEN! WE'LL BE TAKING A SHORT BREAK! BEFORE THE NEXT EVENT!" Mic announced.
"Yeah we did it!" Hado cheered.
"It was all thanks to Dragneel and Redfox," another classmate said.
"You guys were awesome." someone else smiled.
"Thanks man," Natsu and Gajeel high fived their classmates.
"You two were great," Wendy smiled and congratulated.
"Well, I would've handled them on my own easily," Gajeel smirked.
"Alright the second event of the Sport Festival is about to begin," Present Mic announced loudly.
"For, the second event will be a relay race around the stadium, the first years will make a team of three and compete a race to the finish, and quirks will be allowed, but be warned there will be obstacles in the way," Midnight annouced.
"A relay race sounds fun," Natsu smirked. "Yeah, I'm all fired up now, Hey, Wendy, Gajeel want to team up,"
Gajeel scoffed "Guess I don't have a choice,"
Wendy smiled "I'd loved too,"
"Hey, Tamaki, let's do it," Mirio smiled.
"Yeah, Amajiki-kun lets be a team together," Hado smiled brightly.
"I guess," Tamaki looked away shyly.
"ALRIGHT GUYS LET'S SHOW THEM WHAT WE GOT!" Natsu roared.
"YEAH!" they cheered.
Once the teams have been decided, they've each got into position, for the order for Natsu's team, it went from Wendy to Gajeel and finally to Natsu. For Mirio, it was Hado to Tamaki to Mirio.
"Is everyone ready," Midnight shouted and all the students nodded.
Present Mic then took a deep breath "READY!"
The students got into position ready to launch themselves right into the race.
"GO!"
The students then began to run as fast they can, Wendy running as fast as she could and she was pulling ahead of the others. It was then a giant robot appeared in front of her.
"EH!" Wendy shouted seeing the robot.
"OH! Wendy Marvell of class 1-B has encountered the first obstacle," Present Mic shouted.
Wendy then took a deep breath, she jumped in the air and right beside her appeared Hado, who smiled and waved at her. Wendy then started to gather strong wind around her arms, and Hado put both her arms in front of her.
SKY DRAGON WING ATTACK

Wendy charged forward hitting the robot with a strong powerful whirlwind, and Hado unleashed a strong spiral blast of energy, the attacks destroying the robots.
"WOW! Marvell and Hado of Class B Destroyed that bot with such ease, I wonder what's next for these fine young women," Mic shouted.
It was then more smaller robots started to block their path. Wendy with another deep breath and gathered more wind under her hand.
SKY DRAGON CLAW
Wendy started to destroy every robot that was in her way, taking them out with her powerful attacks.
"WOW! Wendy Marvell is cutting through those machines like butter with just wind," MIc shouted. "And trailing behind her is Hado who is also taking out the robots,"
Hado who was trailing behind took out the machines as well, though despite her position she still had a bright and innocent smile. Behind her was a large mob of other students trying their best to get past or defeat the robots.
Wendy then stopped seeing in front of her was the largest of all the robots and Hado stopped right next to her.
"Wow that thing is huge, right Wendy-chan," Hado said innocently.
Wendy nodded "Yeah," she and Hado then flew into the air.
OUTPUT CHARGE LEVEL 50
SKY DRAGON ROAR
Both Wendy and Hado once again unleashed a powerful attack of wind and energy destroying sending it humbling down. Other students were behind, looked up and saw the robot about to fall down on them. The other students just wide-eyed and screamed and ran out of the way, luckily no one was hurt.
"Seriously are they trying to kill us," One student shouted?
"This is way too much," another complained.
Wendy and Hado continued to run and saw the checkpoint ahead and there standing were Gajeel and Tamaki.
"I really don't want to be here," Tamaki shivered.
"You're still on that huh," Gajeel said.
"Gajeel-san," Wendy called.
"Amajiki-Kun," Hado smiled and waved.
"Bout time you got shrimp here," Gajeel said.
"Gomen," Wendy bowed, she then high-fived Gajeel.
"Gomen, Amajiki-Kun did you wait long," Hado said innocently.
"It's fine, Hado-san I'm just so nervous," Tamaki shook.
"Well just do your best Amajiki-Kun," Hado pushed the shy guy ahead forcing him to run behind Gajeel.
"Marvell and Hado just passed the baton to their teammates Redfox and Amajiki, what trials will await these two," Mic shouted. "Oh and looky here looks like the other teams are catching up,"
Gajeel was running ahead of the group with a confident smirk "Obviously I will be first,"
"Man why do I have to do this, I just want to go home," Tamaki said.
As the two were running they came across the next obstacle it was a large pitfall connected by rupees to other platforms.
"For obstacle number 2 we have the fall, if you fall you and your team are out" Mic shouted.
Gajeel smirked "So it's just a glorified tightrope, easy peasy,"
IRON DRAGON HOOK
Gajeel hooked himself onto the tightrope and launched himself and began to zipline down the rope. "GIhihi, later losers,"
Tamaki was trying hard to keep his grip on the tightrope, and trying not to look down. "Come on, Tamaki don't look down, damn why do I have to do this,"
It was then the other students began to catch up to them. Gajeel looked back saw others catching up to him, he smirked "Sorry losers but can't let you get past me,"
IRON DRAGON LANCE
Gajeel created an iron pole from his arm and swung knocking down the other students behind him.
"OOOHHH! WHAT A DIRTY MOVE FROM GAJEEL REDFOX OF CLASS 1-B" MIc yelled seeing the attack.
"That's one way to pull ahead," Aizawa said.
"That's rude Gajeel, you could've killed them," Tamaki said, seeing the students stuck at the bottom.
"Hey, they said anything goes," Gajeel scoffed.
"Cheating bastard," another student used his quirk to attack of rocks.
Tamaki looked back and used his quirk to manifest a clamshell to block the attack.
MANIFEST CLAMSHELL
Tamaki blocked the attack that was heading for Gajeel, due to the fact that it was going to hit him too.
"Seriously, why can't you do that in class more," Gajeel told him.
Tamaki looked down in sadness "Please don't talk about this,"
The two then continued on the course Gajeel and Tamaki managed to get to the other side, and continued to run. They then arrived at the next checkpoint seeing both Natsu and Mirio.
"Yo kept you waiting huh," Gajeel smirked.
"Nah, man it's good," Natsu chuckled.
"I'm so tired," Tamaki fell to the ground.
"Don't worry you did great Tamaki," Mirio encouraged. "Just leave it all to me,"
"Don't lose this Salamander," Gajeel told him.
Natsu smiled "Don't worry I've got this,"
"Just leave it all to me, Tamaki," Mirio smiled.
Natsu and Mirio then started to run. Natsu looked at Mirio "I'm not gonna lose, Mirio," he declared.
"Me too," Mirio smiled as he ran beside Natsu.
"Oh! Dragneel and Togata are leading the race, but wait, the other teams are catching up to them, what will they, not only that the most dangerous obstacle is ahead of them," Mic said.
"Huh," Natsu said, it was then when he took a step he heard a click. Hearing that Natsu jumped back quickly an explosion went off. "Landmines?"
"That's right! Watch where you step kiddies or you might blow up, but don't worry these are nonlethal," Mic shouted "Welcome to the Minefield,"
"This will be easy for me to get through," Mirio gave Natsu a thumbs up. Mirio's clothes slipped off his body and made him naked again and sank into the ground, but only to immediately pop out "Oops looks like I screwed up again,". A girl who caught up to them immediately went red, screamed, and shut her eyes. "Oh not again," Mirio shouted trying to put
Natsu sweatdropped "He seriously has to fix that," Natsu then turned to face the minefield in front of him "This will be a piece of cake for me to get through," Natsu then jumped in his arms pointed at the ground.
FIRE DRAGON BOOSTER
Natsu launched himself, firing his fire from both his arms and legs.
"He's flying," One student shouted.
"Since when can Dragneel do that," another yelled.
"Man you really are amazing, Natsu," Mirio smiled.
"Put your pants on man," another student yelled at Mirio who still hasn't put his pants fully on yet.
"WOW! WHAT AN INCREDIBLE MOVE FROM DRAGNEEL! HE'S USING HIS FIRE TO LAUNCH HIMSELF OVER THE MINEFIELD!" Mic yelled.
"What an impressive tactic," Aizawa said.
Natsu safely landed on the other side of the minefield, he turned and still saw Mirio trying to run through the minefield without his shirt. Natsu turned back and started to run towards the finish line. Natsu arrived at the finish line being the first one out of his entire year to finish his race.
"AND THERE WE HAVE IT DRAGNEEL TAKES FIRST PLACE! HE AND HIS TEAM WILL PROCEED TO THE FINAL TOURNAMENT." Mic shouted. "AND IT LOOKS LIKE OTHER TEAMS ARE ABOUT TO FINISH REMEMBER THE NEXT TWO TEAMS WILL PROCEED TO THE FINAL TOURNAMENT!"
Natsu watched and saw two other students from Class A cross the finish, after a barrage of other students finished he saw Mirio finally cross.
"Aw Man, I didn't make it," Mirio said.
"Aw cheer up Mirio, if it wasn't for that weird drawback from your quirk you would've won," Natsu told him to comfort his friend.
"But don't worry I'll do better next time," Mirio gave him his signature smile
Natsu chuckled "Yeah Man,"
"Aw, we lost," Hado said, pouting a little.
Tamaki signed "Well we did our best that's all that matters,"
"Yeah sorry I failed at the final stretch there," Mirio apologized.
"Don't worry about it," Tamaki told him. "At least I don't have to compete anymore,"
"Yeah it wasn't your fault," Hado smiled. She then turned to Natsu, Gajeel, and Wendy "Good luck in the final tournament you three,"
"Thanks, Hado," Natsu smiled.
"Gihih I'm going to win," Gajeel smirked.
"Thank you, Hado-san" Wendy bowed.
Mirio offered Natsu a fist bump "Make sure you win this Natsu," he smiled.
Natsu smiled and returned the fist bump "You bet man,"
Natsu and Mirio gave each other a toothy smile and the others smiled as well seeing the two grow close.

Hey here is chapter 3 of this story the start of the Sports Fest. As always apologizes for it being in one chapter, but like said trying to get to Shie Hasskai as soon as I can. And I did not want to spend time writing sporting events so I made it quick and tried to make it interesting. .Anyway what do you all think. The next chapter will be the tournament battle. Remember these are just going to be mini-arcs small storylines to show the dragon slayer's growth and relationship with Big 3.
