James needed a place to hide. Escaping the consequences of his latest prank, he quickly dashed into the nearest broom closet.
After closing the door, James tripped and fell on someone.
Just after James had processed what happened, he realized that he was kissing the person beneath him. The 4th-year Gryffindor quickly raised his head. "Sorry! I needed a place to hide, didn't see you there, and tripped. It was a complete accident!"
The other person didn't say anything, just laid there breathing.
"Are you ok?"
The person again said nothing, but nodded.
"Ok." James slowly said. "Well, unless you want to cuddle or kiss again," he made to get up, "I'm just gonna-"
The person quickly grabbed James, and pulled him down.
"Ok. Guess we're cuddling. I'm going to make myself comfortable, ok?"
The person nodded.
James quickly shifted himself so he was more-or-less laying next to his mysterious cuddle-buddy. "Let me know if I'm too much, ok?"
The person nodded again.
So quiet, James couldn't help but wonder. Was the person mute? A boy who didn't want to admit he liked boys? Or a Slytherin who didn't want to scare James away, or let anyone know they were into a Gryiffindor? Maybe a combination?
Nervous, yet inquisitive hands and arms wrapped and felt around him. James thought he heard somewhat heavy breathing.
Curious, James started playing with the person's hair. It was soft and curly, like Sirius's, but shorter. That ruled out most of the people he knew. At least he didn't kiss the greasy-haired Snape.
James soon felt the face, it was similar to Sirius. The nose, the jaw, the shape. It couldn't be Narcissa, and none of Padfoot's distant cousins looked so similar to him.
That only left one possible answer: "Regu-"
James was cut off by lips smacking against his. Either he was on to something, or the person just wanted to kiss.
James decided to not think about it for the moment, and just enjoy himself. He kissed back, briefly startling the other person. James became nervous, and tried to pull away, but the other person pulled him back in.
James couldn't help but chuckle a little.
The pair kissed for what seemed like forever, becoming more and more comfortable with each other.
Soon, however, the door opened. The pair looked in shock at an equally startled Mimi Moon.
"James? Regulas?" Mimi asked.
"Mimi?" The boys asked.
"Wait, Regulas?" James asked in shock.
"Hi." Regulas meekly replied.
James struggled to speak, "What are you, why did you, oh Pads is gonna kill me!"
"Ok," Mimi said as she closed the door behind her, "let's talk this through." She put a charm on the door for privacy, and sat down. The boys sat up. "First, this is where I like to come to read, when I want to be alone. James?"
"I was running from Filtch and needed a place to hide."
"Of course." Mimi sighed.
"I didn't know anyone else was in here." James turned to Regulas, "By the way, why are you in here?"
Regulas Black squirmed. Finally he said, "I needed time alone to think. I don't fully agree with my parents's views, but, I'm the good son. The perfect counterpoint to Sirius. But, I can't live up to that! I think house-elves are equal to wizards, I'm crushing on Snape and Crouch, and now maybe Potter. I, I just want to not have to hide my magic in muggle-spaces!"
James put a gentle hand on the 2nd-year's shoulder.
Regulas calmed down. "Sirius was always the wild one. He also didn't agree with our parents, but, we're family. He said it wasn't until he met you, Potter, that he decided to change. He said there was something about you, that made him want to pledge his loyalty to you. I was curious, what drew him to you. What about you, was the push? So, when I recognized your voice, I thought, why not try?"
James and Mimi were taken aback.
"Sirius really said that?" James asked in a almost whisper, "About me?"
"Yeah. He never told you?"
James shook his head. "He just said he saw reason."
"Well, now you know." Regulas hugged his knees, "Please don't tell my brother or cousin about this. I don't want to deal with the pressure."
"Ok, I understand." James replied, "Although, we're here for you."
"Same." Mimi added.
Regulas gratefully smiled, "Thanks."
There was a comfortable silence before something hit James. "Wait, Snivellus?"
Regulas blushed. "Yeah, he's brilliant, and desperate for approval. Cissy treats him like a little brother, sometimes a son. There's just something about him."
"I think Crouch is a better option." James argued.
"Of course you think that."
