"I still don't understand why you hang around Potter and Black." Lily Evans remarked to Remus Lupin while on Prefect duty.

"They're loyal friends." Remus told her, "They'd do anything for each other and me, and I'd do the same for them."

"I know that," Lily said with mild distain and annoyance, "but that doesn't make up for their stupid schemes and pranks. Remember them swarming the Slytherin Table with chickens two days ago?"

Remus began to fidget, "Actually that was my idea."

Lily stopped in her tracks. "What?"

Remus stopped and nervously faced her, "Yeah. Uh, James wanted to make the Great Hall snow feathers over them, while Sirius wanted to make the roasted birds get up and dance."

Lily couldn't believe her ears, "So, you decided it would be better for live chickens to invade the Slytherin table?"

Remus rubbed the back of his neck and nervously answered, "Yes." There was a pause before he continued, "We already did the feather thing, and I figured the live chickens couldn't be traced to us. And, the dancing birds might've been too complicated."

Lily processed what she heard. Sweet Remus Lupin... "Are you the Mastermind behind all their pranks?"

"N-no! No, just some." Remus quickly answered, "They come up with plenty of stuff on their own, I just... help sometimes."

"By 'help' you mean?"

"Coming up with suggestions to make the pranks I hear of more harmless and fun, and mediating when they can't decide."

Lily slowly nodded. Finally, she spoke, "So... why are you hardly in detention?"

"James and Sirius cover for me, and always prevent me from turning myself in."

"Why would they do that?"

"Like I said, they're loyal." Remus replied with a shrug, then he turned to go.

Lily caught his arm and said, "Wait, I have so many questions. Do they ever pressure you? What about Peter? Are the two of you ever more than distractions and lookouts?"

Remus looked at her, she seemed both curious and concerned. He wasn't sure how much he should tell her, after all, secrets were secrets. He thought about bringing her friendship with Severus up, however before he could say anything, he was gripped from behind and felt strong arms snake around his waist.

"I thought you were supposed to be patrolling." said Sirius Black against his ear, "What are you doing standing here looking pretty?"

"Get done with detention early?" Remus deflected.

"Nah, Slughorn just made me organize his things." Sirius answered. He smirked and whispered in his ear, "Found some pretty interesting stuff."

"Which you're going to use for?" Remus asked with concern.

"Not sure yet." Sirius answered, "I'll have to discuss it with Prongs." The raven-haired boy suddenly noticed the pair of green eyes staring at them, "Oh, hi Evans. Lovely night."

"Hello Black." Lily greeted with contempt, "Where's Potter?"

"Finishing up detention." Sirius answered, "Minnie's making him take care of the chickens."

"I see." Lily replied. She was going to scold him for being so casual with their Head of House and Deputy Head Mistress, however once Sirius Black set his mind to something, little could be done to stop him.

Sirius turned his attention back to his boyfriend, "So Moons, how much longer do you have?"

"About an hour." Remus answered.

Sirius groaned. That was too long without him.

"Peter can keep you company." Remus suggested.

"True." Sirius replied, then he flopped his head onto Remus's and moaned into his brown hair, "But it's not the same."

Lily huffed. Sirius was seriously messing with their prefect duties, and his stubbornness meant he was hard to get rid of. "I'm sure you can wait an hour Black."

Sirius ignored her and groaned louder.

Lily rolled her eyes. He was so immature.

"What are you doing?" Came a voice.

The three 5th-years turned to see the 6th year Gryffindor Prefects Fabian Prewett and Lila Teach coming towards them.

"Well Remus and I were making our rounds," Lily explained before the boys could say anything, "when Sirius Black arrived and started distracting us."

"I was not!" Sirius defended.

"Well you're certainly preventing Remus from doing his job." Lily hotly replied, drawing attention to how wrapped up he and Lupin were.

"Silence!" Lila ordered. "We Prefects have a job to do. So Sirius get back to the dorms without getting in more trouble!"

"Yes ma'am." Sirius sassed. Then he turned to Fabian, "So Prewett we still on for that double-date Saturday?"

"Sure are." The red-head answered. He had been dating Ravenclaw Prefect Kingsley Shacklebolt for about five months. "So long as you can keep out of trouble."

"You're only in trouble if you get caught." Sirius said with a wink, which made Fabian smirk and the others groan. Even some of the portraits rolled their eyes.

Ignoring the reactions, Sirius left a trail of kisses along Remus's jaw to his ear, "See you back in our room." Then he kissed his temple, and made to go. However Remus wanted a more proper send-off kiss, so he grabbed his boyfriend and kissed his lips.

"See you then." Remus told him when their lips finally parted.

With one last peck, Sirius was off and both he and Remus were smiling brightly.

"Is someone eager to finish patrolling tonight?" Fabian smirked.

Remus's face turned red as Lila smacked Fabian's arm.

"Fabian!" Lila scolded.

"Uh, a little." Remus sheepishly replied.

Lily shook her head as thoughts of what Black and Lupin were planning to do that night entered her mind. Her sweet Remus.
