Hey guys I hope you have enjoyed the first chapter, so first I want to thank you all who have followed and favourite this work of mine, seeing this really boost my confidence in this story, so here's the next part of a shattered soul. Chapter 2

One Hell of a Recruitment

(Reworked somewhat)

Team RWBY were shocked to see metal ribbons emerging from beneath Jade's shirt before hardening into a mask of sorts that cover the bottom half of his face. His eyes glared back at them.

"Is that his semblance?" Weiss asked, first to snap out it first.

"There's definitely more than just the mask don't you think?" Yang answered her back.

Seeing that the girls are not willing to take the initiative to engage him, Jade proceeds to dash directly at Weiss first. Seeing Jade Charging at Weiss, Yang proceeds to counter-charge Jade, only to be cut off by Jade suddenly sheaths his weapon before grabbing Yang by the arms and throwing her at Ruby and Blake using her own momentum against her.

This caught both girls off guard before Yang slammed into them. Seeing their team temporarily distracted, Jade continues to pursue Weiss. Seeing Jade swinging Thorn at her, Weiss proceeds to bring Myrtenaster out and swings at Thorn. Both blades clash against each other with either side not gaining the advantage. Jade proceeds to have a conversation with her now that their blades were clashed.

"Hmm I'm surprised to see a Schnee here so far from home, though I suppose these are strange times indeed." Jade muttered with interest on why is a Schnee doing so far from home.

"Don't underestimate me, just because I'm not at Atlas does not mean I am defenceless." Weiss retorted back.

"Who says about underestimating you, Schnee." Jade replied back before using his free hand and grabbing her head and slamming against his knee and back flip kicking her, sending her flying back.

"WEISS!" Ruby cried as her partner was sent flying. She then proceeds to dash in with her semblance and swing directly at Jade. Seeing the attack coming, Jade backflips before dodging to the side to avoid another attack from Blake who snuck behind him. Only to get punched from the back by Yang, sending him flying towards a wall. Face first.

"Good hit Yang." Ruby complemented Yang's punch as the team proceeded to gather up while Jade slid down the wall. Jade proceeds to stand up all dizzy from kissing the wall and proceeds to grumble in his head.

"That seriously hurt, ugh can this day can get any worse." As if fate is against him as well, a flower pot from above fell on his head earning a yelp of pain and giggles from the girls.

Understandably angry that he proved himself right again, Jade unsheathes Lumina and switches both his swords into guns and starts shooting at team RWBY. Seeing shots coming their way, the team scatters and converges on Jade. Jade, seeing that they are converging towards him, he reshifts Thorn and Lumina back into swords, dashing forward and dodging both Ruby and Yang's attacks and sending his own attack. His swords hit both ruby and yang, Sending both flying away.

Blake proceeded to wrap his arm with her ribbon. Jade decides to use some information he had of he against her. "Blake Belladonna, so this is where you have been, your do your parents know where you went? They were concerned about your safety." Jade asked her curiously as the bow on her head twitched slightly. This catches Blake off guard by the question asked, allowing Jade to grab the ribbon and yanking it hard enough to send Blake flying towards Jade who elbowed her in the face and sending her back.

"Freezerburn!" Ruby yells out, understanding what their team leader asked them to do, Weiss freezes the ground whilst Yang jumps into the air and proceeds to punch the frozen ground whilst firing Ember Celica. Mist begins to surround Jade, but Jade smirks despite the mask covering his mouth and pulls out a grenade filled with electric dust, pulls the pin and drops it at his foot before dashing behind a car for cover to avoid his surprise.

As the electric dust grenade detonates, the screams of pain can be heard as the team's very attacks were used against them. Forcing RW_Y to abandon the combo and pulling out of the mist to not get shocked again.

"Ruby what happened? Are you guys alright?" Blake frantically asked Ruby as she ran back to her shocked teammates.

"I don't know what happened, do you Weiss?" Ruby asked her trusted dust expert on what happened.

"He just used electric dust on us, I did not expect him to be that smart and counter our combo of ours." Weiss answered back.

"Then we better not make that mistake again. That stunt ruined my hair." Yang mumbled loud enough for the others to hear as she pats her shocked hair. Jade peeked out form his cover while the girls tried to recover from his surprise gift. Jade then jumps over the car before charging straight at the girls hoping that capitalise on their distraction.

As Jade charged at them with his weapons out, The girls begin to charge at Jade together. Sparks can be seen throughout the fight as blades clash and shots rang out in the streets, with Jade deflecting as many blows as he could and counter-attacking them with his own kicks or slashes. Both Ruby and Blake tried attacking Jade at the same time, only for both of their attacks to get blocked and Jade back-flipping to avoid them and give him some breathing room. Yang, seeing the opportunity dashes at Jade and attempts to punch him in the face only for Jade to dodge her again and sends a slash at her way. That slash however did land on Yang, but cuts a single strand of blond hair from yang.

After passing over each other, Yang noticed the blond strand of hair on the ground. Her shocked expression changed immediately to one of rage. Yang was furious at Jade and there's one thing he will learn after today. Never mess with Yang's hair. "YOU BASTARD!" She yelled in rage with red eyes and burning hair and Charged at Jade despite her team's calls for her to calm down.

Jade for a moment felt fear causing him to hesitate and not attack, allowing Yang to throw her punch, only snapping out of it just in time to bring his blades out to block her Punch. The blow from the punch was strong enough to disarm Jade, Sending his swords out of his hand. Realising he does not have the time to pick up his swords before an angry Yang and her team come for him, Jade panicky decides to engage the angry blonde directly. Both Yang and Jade began charging at each other while yelling. Yang sends a punch to Jade only for him to grab her fist and, using her momentum, slams her into the ground and sends a punch to her face. Only for Yang to catch his fist and slam him with her other fist.

Activating Ember Celica in the process sending Jade flying with his aura flickering dark green and crashing down onto the ground. Jade gets up to his feet only before Yang sends a powerful punch that Jade barely blocks. It sends him flying again to the same wall he face-planted a while ago.

"And this is why you don't mess with Yang's hair." Ruby reminds her teammates as they catch up with Yang who collapses on her knees from low aura.

"Yang!" Her team called her as they rushed to check on her.

"I'm fine, just low on aura." answered to her teammates before continuing, "Is he out of the fight?" She asked.

"Not... Yet..." a audible groaning is heard from the debris and Jade willed himself back up despite the pain and potential broken bones. When the girls see him. They saw Jade's clothes tattered with parts of his jeans ripped off, his was bleeding on his arm and his mask shattered. Yet in his eyes show determination to never give up just yet.

"I'm...not done yet…" Jade mumbled out loud picking up Thorn and Lumina what had landed near him, and points at them with Lumina.

"NOT YET!" Jade yelled as he charged at team RWBY swinging his swords at them. Blake immediately intercepted Jade only to get side kicked by Jade before clashing with Ruby and shoving her back, and dodging Yang's punches and slashes by Weiss. Blake was the only one to notice Jade's eyes start to glow red and his tailcoat starts to morph into something.

"Guys! Watch out!" Blake yelled at her teammates. Both Yang and Ruby heard Blake and barley manage to avoid metallic chain-like tendrils with bladed ends that emerged from Jade's tailcoat to strike them. The tendrils missed their targets before retracting back to Jade. Two Metallic tendrils can be seen above Jade's head and originate from Jade's overcoat from the back.

"I guess that's his semblance." Blake muttered as Weiss continued with a hint of caution in her voice.

"I advise taking caution now when fighting him now guys, we still don't know the extend of his semblance." Her other members agreed to do so.

Jade charged back into the fray striking Blake right in the chest sending her away and using his tendril to keep Yang occupied. Weiss, using her semblance, accelerates her up and strikes Jade only to get parried by the other tendril. Seeing the opportunity, one of the tendrils grabbed Weiss before tossing her like a ragdoll at Blake while the other grabbed Yang and threw her aside into a building. Ruby yelled at her teammates before dashes in with her semblance, and attempts to slash Jade. Jade now exhausted and his tendrils on his back disintegrated due to lack of aura, desperately drops his blades to grab Crescent Rose with surprising success.

"Hey! Let go!" Ruby yelled as she struggled to get Jade off her precious Crescent Rose,

"No..." That was Jade's words before he twisted his back resulting in the frame of Crescent Rose being put against Ruby's throat. Before Ruby could do anything. Jade sung forward sending Ruby flying forward with out her weapon.

Jade then threw Crescent Rose aside as he walked in closer to a downed Ruby.

"Ruby!" A cry was heard, Jade turned to face it only for Yang to crash into Jade sending him flying towards the car. A loud crash was heard with dust everywhere blinding everyone.

"No one hurts Ruby under my watch!" Yang yelled before she went to go check on her sister. "Ruby, are you alright? Did he did anything to you?" She asked.

"I'm fine Yang, how's everyone else?" Ruby asked back. Weiss and Blake approaches the sisters though Weiss is limping.

"We are mostly fine, both of us are close to running out of aura." Blake answered her leader. Team RWBY looked towards the impact zone where Yang punched Jade into.

As the dust begins to settle down, an unconscious Jade can be seen on a dented car, his clothes tattered, cuts and bruises seen all over his body.

"Is it over?" Weiss moaned in pain.

"Yea... we did it." Blake answered back.

"Oum... that was a tough fight huh?" Yang tries to sound cheerful though exhaustion can still be heard in her voice.

"Yup! But we did it, now we need to take him back to Ozpin." Ruby replied cheerfully despite the pain and exhaustion.

"That won't be necessary Miss Rose, I'll take it from here" A familiar voice can be heard behind them. Team RWBY turned around to their surprise, Glynda was there waiting for them.

"Professor Goodwitch? what are you doing here?" Weiss asked with a hint of surprise in her voice.

"Headmaster Ozpin sent me to pick up Mr Grayson and repair any collateral damage that might be caused during the fight. Though I wish to know everything that has happened here." The girls begin telling Glynda everything that has transpired, Jade fleeing from them, being stopped and refusing to cooperate with them resulting in a forced fight, him yelling out to civilians to leave the area, his unique semblance and many more.

Glynda was all ears throughout the conversation before giving a nod before continuing. "Very well, I'll inform Ozpin what has transpired here, can you pick him up and follow me?" Glynda gave an order as she worked to fix everything that has been a result of collateral damage. Blake and Yang went to pick up an unconscious Jade, while Ruby handled Thorn and Lumina while also admiring their designs and fiddling around with it.

"Ruby!" Weiss yelled at her partner, "Quit looking at his weapons and hurry up!"

"I'm coming!" she yelled back at her partner before sprinting back to her team with Jade's weapons in her hand.

On a Bullhead back to Beacon...

Most of team RWBY were exhausted and were sleeping in their seats except for Ruby, who was curious why Ozpin wanted a mercenary, was it because of his skills? He did nearly wipe the floor with them and only won because Yang managed to knock him unconscious. Deciding to indulge in her curiosity, she asked Glynda.

"Professor Goodwitch?" she called her out, "why does Ozpin want Jade for?" Ruby then asked.

Glynda stared at Ruby causing her to shrink a bit before sighing and answering, "Headmaster Ozpin says that Jade shows promise as a huntsman and he believes such talents should not be wasted, from what your team had told me on what he had done so far, I'm inclined to believe him."

"So what happens now?" Ruby questioned Glynda.

"For now, get some rest Miss Rose. Once we reach Beacon we will go see Ozpin first, Jade will be taken to the medical facility." She answered back. Satisfied for now, Ruby went back to sleep.

Much later...

In Ozpin's office, "First of all, I would like to congratulate you all for your first successful mission assignment" Ozpin says with a genuine smile on his face. Ruby chuckled slightly.

"Eh eh eh, thank you headmaster."

"Headmaster, what do you plan to do with Jade now, shouldn't you leave him with the authorities?" Weiss questioned the headmaster on why Jade is not in prison like all other faunus criminals that were caught. Weiss did not realise that Blake was staring at her with a frown on her face, with the others not aware of it.

"Mr Grayson still needs time to heal, until he fully recovers or regains consciousness, whichever occurs first, I'll then decide what to do with him. Till that day comes, you should go to the medical facility now for a check up." Ozpin explained to them.

"Due to you accomplishing your first Mission and that you still need time to recover, Headmaster Ozpin will grant a day off tomorrow. He will inform your professors that you are exempted from class for tomorrow." Glynda explained to team RWBY as they left.

"Thank you Professors for the day off!" The girls thank them back.

Two days later at the medical Facility…

Jade's eyes opened to the sound of a heartbeat sensor. "Arrrrgggghhhhhh..." Jade groaned as he tried to push himself upwards to sit up from his bed, only to realise that his hands had handcuffs on and his body was tied to the bed.

"Uh… anyone there?" He called out hoping to have someone answered his call. As if someone was waiting for him, he heard footsteps and someone talking outside. Using his faunus hearing, he listens in close.

"Hello team RWBY what are you doing here?" a male voice can be heard.

"Oh! Hello Professor Ozpin, we are here to see Jade, what about you?" a familiar voice can be heard.

"Why would they want to see me, wait , why am I not sent to prison yet or dead?" Jade wondered why as he continued to listen in.

"Well you see Ms Rose, I wish to check on him to see if he's alright or not." the male voice continued.

"What are you planning to do with him, professor?" another familiar voice is heard.

"I'll show you right now, come with me then." the voice continued as footsteps can be heard getting closer to the door.

Realising that he is going to get caught listening in, Jade closes his eyes and pretends to sleep as the door opens and footsteps can be heard entering into the nursing room. While walking into the nursing room, team RWBY were at surprised on how tied up Jade was.

"Uhhh...Professor, why's Jade tied up like that?" Ruby asked Ozpin with a very confused look on her face.

"What's the matter Ruby? Interested in him I see?" Yang teased Ruby with a shit-eating grin on her face.

"YANG!" Ruby yelled at her half-sister while Yang starts laughing.

"Ugh… can you dunces behave yourselves when you are in front of the headmaster?" Weiss comments with a tinge of annoyance at her leaders and teammates immaturity. Ozpin stared at Jade before noticing his cat ears twitching slightly and smirks before deciding to speak.

"I believe our guest is awake, am I right Mr Grayson?"

"Fuck he saw that… Uh, crap crap crap." Jade thought to himself before making the decision to reply to Ozpin. Jade opens his eyes and sees the girls who kicked his ass at the side with a man with silver hair looking directly into his eyes as if trying to get a read of him. Seeing that he's stuck and can't escape, jade calmed himself before speaking with an expressionless voice spoke.

"Yes you are right Mr uh.. What's your name sir? no matter, it's obvious I'm not at a prison nursing room, so let's cut to the chase, where am I and how long was I out?"

"Well Mr Grayson, if you must know I am Professor Ozpin, headmaster of Beacon Academy. And as where you are, you are located at the nursing room in Beacon Academy and you have been out for two days." Ozpin answered Jade's question with a smile to his face as Jade's face paled in fear when he realized that he's stuck here with a headmaster who could decide his fate.

"What.. Do you want with me?" Jade's voice stammered as he uttered it out.

"Aww.. kitty cat scared." Yang mockingly voiced her thoughts while chucking to herself, Weiss can be seen silently smirking as if she's watching justice be done.

Ruby looks concerned at her teammates while Blake remains expressionless while observing the situation. "Ruby, can you and your team give me and Mr Grayson some time to talk alone? I wish to speak with him alone." Ozpin turned to face the girls.

"Oh, ok Mr Ozpin we will get going bye!" Ruby agreed with her headmaster before dragged her team out of the nursing room much to their confusion.

"Ok, now that they are out of way, I'm here to give you two choices." Ozpin faced Jade who is still pale in the face.

"And... they are?" Jade hesitantly replied back.

"One, you can join beacon academy as a student to become a huntsman or two, you will be handed over to the authorities and would most likely end up in prison. Jade could hardly believe his ears on what Ozpin had uttered out of his mouth.

"Join Beacon? Why does he want me to join his school? There's got to be some ulterior motive he has planned and no way he would let me go with 5 million Lien on my head by joining him." His thoughts kept running for a while only for Ozpin to snap him out of it.

"I can understand why you are hesitant to take up my offer but, the reason I'm offering you this chance to become a huntsman is because I see potential wasted in you, and besides, it's a much better option than being hunted down for the rest of your life, am I correct?" Ozpin explained why he gave his options. Jade stared into Ozpin's eyes to see if there's any hints of lies before sighing and conceding.

"I'll join you, your offer is too good to be true but I suppose it's better than the latter… Though I'm not trusting you just yet." Ozpin smiled before continuing on.

"Good, get some rest, Glynda will stop by later to have you fill up your details before joining us officially"

"By the way Professor, could you untie me from my bed and get rid of the handcuffs? It's not like going to go anywhere and I can't feel my body. And I want my weapons back as well." Jade uncomfortably asked Ozpin.

"Of Course Mr Grayson, I'll get the nurse to untie you and I also will take my leave. Be prepared ,you will still need to take the initiation on Monday. In the meantime, if you have further questions, you can ask Mrs Goodwitch later, I'll tell her to get your guns as well. Ozpin uttered his last words before leaving the nursing room.

Jade watched Ozpin as he left the room before sighing as the door closed. He then looked at the ceiling before asking himself. "What did I just walk into? *sighs* I suppose this is a better path for me. I wonder what the initiation will hold for me and what team I would be put into. My own team I hope." Those were his last thoughts before descending to sleep.

And there's chapter two done, next chapter will be Jade's initiation and which team he would be included into.
