Chapter 11

"So I guess we are just doing a normal patrol," Natsu yawned.

"Come on Natsu," Mirio smiled "It's pretty much what we need to do, our main job is to scout for any danger and deal with it,"

"Yeah, I know," Natsu signed "I'm just bored,"

"Hey, have some spirit," Miro cheered "Sir, thinks we're capable enough to patrol on our own,"

"Isn't that normal I mean sure we are just not being chaperoned everywhere," Natsu signed. "but…"

"Help!" someone cried.

"Trouble," Natsu and Mirio sprang into action.

The two heroes arrived on the scene.

"What happened," Natsu asked.

"A villain," the women cried and pointed at the fleeing person.

Natsu and Mirio turned and saw a large purple man fleeing the scene with bags of money in hand.

Natsu's eyes narrow "Lemillion, you stay here and help the injured, I'll catch him,"

Mirio nodded "Got it, I leave it to you Salamander,"

Natsu jumped and shot fire from his feet, making it seem like he's flying.

FIRE DRAGON BOOSTER

Natsu dashed after the villain at fast speeds and quickly appeared in front of the villain shocking him.

Natsu smirked "Yo, you know stealing is against the wall,"

The villain glared but smirked "So what you going to do about it kid,"

"How about you give back what you stole, and turn yourself in, then I won't have to kick your ass," Natsu smirked.

"Well come and try it," the villain shouted and shot smoke at Natsu.

Natsu covered his eyes "a smokescreen huh,"

"Too bad kid looks like you have to die young," the villain shouted.

Natsu looked up and saw that the villain was going to hit him with a large metal pipe. Once the villain brought the pipe down, Natsu simply caught it with his hand, shocking the villain.

"Really," Natsu scoffed. Natsu then ignited his fist.

FIRE DRAGON IRON FIST

Natsu punched the villain in the gut, and the man fell to his knees. Natsu brushed his hands and shrugged "seriously that was it, that was a love tap,"

"Stupid brat," the man groaned. "But did you think I'm alone,"

Natsu signed "Yeah I figured," Natsu then back punched the man who was sneaking up behind him "Seriously I can smell him from a mile away,"

The villain was shocked and stunned at what he saw, Natsu single Handley beat them without breaking a sweat.

"Hey, Salamander, the police are here," Mirio ran up. "Oh, I see you took them down,"

"Yeah, didn't break a sweat," Natsu grinned.

"Good job kid," the officer smiled.

"Thank you so much hero," the citizens said.

"Hey, it's not a big deal," Natsu told them.

"Yeah we were just doing our job," Mirio said.

Both Natsu and Mirio were being crowded by the citizens all saying thanks for saving them. Both seemed to be getting overwhelmed. Unknowingly to them, mainly Mirio the two were being watched by Nighteye, Natsu noticed his scent and looked at the roof he was watching them from.

The Next Day

Back at the Agency, Natsu and Mirio returned and were greeted by Bubble Girl and Centipeder.

"I heard you two did good work out there, great job. Sir would be proud," Bubble Girl smiled and Centipeder nodded.

"Thanks, guys," Mirio grinned, and Natsu smiled.

"Where is Nighteye anyway," Natsu asked.

"Working a different case, he said it's important once he gathers enough information he'll tell us," Centipeder answer.

"Yeah it's super important," Bubble Girl told them. "Anyway, you guys need to get on patrol soon,"

"Yes ma'am," Natsu and Mirio bowed.

It was then suddenly Nighteye walked into the room.

"Sir," they all bowed.

"I thought you were working a case," Centipeder asked.

"I was, but I also need to make sure these two work-study students work effectively. I will accompany them on patrol," Nighteye pushed up his glasses "but I will take one at a time," he then turned to Natsu "Salamander you are with me, Mirio you go with Bubble Girl, and the next day Mirio and Natsu will switch understand,"

"Yes sir," they all stood.

"Wow isn't that cool, you get to patrol with Sir," Mirio grinned.

"Yeah," Natsu nodded "hopefully this doesn't go the same as Endeavor,"

Natsu walked alongside Nighteye "So Sir, what we working on I mean it must be important if you decide to take a student like me along I've would of expected you take Mirio, since you two know each other pretty well"

"I merely want to see your abilities up close. I researched a bit about you, it seems not only you have the quirk of consuming and shooting fire, but heighten senses as well. For today, I need your superior sense of smell to track someone," Nighteye answered.

"Track someone who?" Natsu raised an eyebrow.

Nighteye nodded "Someone for a case I've been working on, I will tell you details in the future,"

Once the two reached an alley, Nighteye stopped Natsu, "The man we are tracking is right there,"

Natsu looked and saw a group of men, a gangster looking. "Who are they,"

"Drug traffickers, we follow them, we might find the source," Nighteye instructed. "Don't get to close, just use your sense and keep a distance understand,"

Natsu nodded and kept his distance. He also overheard the conversation the man was having.

"Hey, you make sure the trade goes good man,"

"Yeah, boss will be upset if we screw it up,"

"Don't worry I've got it,"

It was then the suspect started to move and once the other two disappeared Natsu and Nighteye made their move. The pro and the student kept to the shadows, with Natsu using his superior senses to make sure they weren't noticed.

The two stalked the man for about nearly an hour and Nighteye can tell Natsu was getting bored "You're getting bored aren't you,"

Natsu signed "I mean yeah, I get this job is important but I more of a man of action,"

Nighteye signed "I know that, but if you don't learn to think before you act, you'll die,"

Natsu's eyes narrowed "I know how to think before I act,"

"Do you know, because I know your type is the one to always strike first and think later? Just punching the enemy is not a sound battle plan,"

Natsu twitched, he hated the comment but knew the Pro hero was right.

"I know you are strong and can handle yourself, you can probably defeat villains all on your own but, if you go against a smart enough opponent you'll lose, like they're taking advantage of your motion sickness," Nighteye pushed his glasses up.

Natsu blushed "How did you,"

"You may hide it, but it is still obvious," Nighteye told him. "Sure it may be rare for a foe to use that against you, but it best you prepare for any scenario predict what would happen," Natsu looked away embarrassed "Still if you learn to improve your thinking I know you can be a decent hero,"

"Decent hero," Natsu twitched. "I actually thought you were going to praise me,"

"Hmm, your personality needs some work, when you go in for a rescue you sometimes come across as a fire-breathing monster," Nighteye said to him.

"Now that's hurtful," Natsu frowned, his eyes then widen "Our guys stopped and it smells like someone else is coming,"

Nighteye nodded and looked at the scene, and his eyes narrowed. He and Natsu saw the man meet with a plague masked man.

"Who is that," Natsu questioned.

"A person of interest," Nighteye took out a camera and snapped some photos once he was done he turned to Natsu "We're done let's go back,"

Natsu was shocked "But this is important to your investigation, why not take him in now,"

Nighteye just looked at him "It is just an investigation no hard boiled evidence, for now lets go,"

"But…"

"Think before you act, if you just went in you could have possibly died, we don't know that man's quirk," Nighteye told him "You need to think before you act,"

Natsu's eyes widened at the words.

"Think before you Natsu, you could have gotten kill," Makarov lectured.

"Oh what's the harm Gramps, I made it back safe," Natsu signed.

"Still, you need to think before you act, you can't just charge in reckless," Makarov told him.

"Fine, I got it," Natsu shrugged.

"Do you boy," Makarov glared "Natsu, as your parent I can't allow you to make reckless choices, doing so can lead to not only your death but the death of your teammates"

Natsu froze that, but he took a breath "alright, I'll be sure to listen next time,"

Natsu signed and nodded "Fine let's go,"

Nighteye nodded "Good,"

The two-headed back to the agency.

"You did good today, I look forward to the rest of your progress," Nighteye told him.

"Yeah," Natsu nodded "But I feel you favor Mirio more, I mean I get it his optimism does that,"

"I don't favor anyone, I only pick those who are best sorted for these manners," Nighteye answered.

"Keep telling yourself that," Natsu said. "Well see ya tomorrow,"

Nighteye nodded and watched Natsu leave "hmm as I thought, Mirio is the proper candidate, Natsu is good but he has a lot more to learn, he doesn't seem to focus on being a hero who helps, he's more focused on fighting strong enemies, but I will continue to watch him, like Mirio he shows a lot of promise,"

After Natsu left he got a text from Mirio asking how things went, Natsu sent a text back saying everything is fine. Natsu thought about his time with Nighteye "well he's not strong, but he is crafty different from Endeavor, and he kind reminds of me of Gramps and Gildarts, guess picking this agency was the right call after all,"

As Natsu was walking home, a young boy about a year or two younger than him in a green tracksuit bumped into him.

"Oh sorry sir," the boy said as he continued his jog.

Natsu looked back at the boy and he had a strange feeling.

"Why do I feel weird, that kid I feel like I'll see him again someday,"

An Here we are chapter 11 sorry for the long wait but after this chapter, not much but hope you enjoyed we are finally diving into the main cannon be sure to review and I have pairings planned in this story, but I do have something planned involving another FT characters you can probably guess what.
