Chapter 5

Classes and dreams

Jade did not wake up in his futon, but on a field of grass and the twinkling stars of the night with the air cleaner and purer than usual. Yet this only kick Jade's confusion and paranoia into overdrive. "Where the hell am I?"

Jade mumbled before getting up and walking with the hope of finding help. As he continued to walk through the grassy hills and calming nights, Jade heard voices in the distance. Unsure where he is, Jade walked towards the noise. As he walked towards the noise, Jade saw something in the distance, a humanoid Light like being with antlers on it and (it's?) dark counterpart with horns on its head, there was someone else there that was talking to those beings that radiate unlimited power. Though Jade couldn't tell from this distance, that was definitely someone else.

The ghostly human figure begins to yell. "So you take me away from my world and ended my life so you could use me to clean up your mess?"

"Yes young one we wish you to deal with-" whatever the strange being of light was about to say was interrupted by the boy.

"You can take your offerings and shove up your ass! I know you planned to use me as a pawn to clean up after the mess you made? I know what you had done, and all of it was your fault! All of remnant was a by-product of your carelessness as gods!" The boy continued his rant with utter rage in his voice as Jade continued to hide out of sight, not aware that they couldn't even see him to begin with.

The Dark being chuckled before looking at the being of light before speaking, "Brother to be fair, we did take him away from his home and from what he had said to us a while ago, it's also obvious that he knows us and the world we are planning to send him from where he was originally, but really, is this the only way to end their war, using another life from another world as our chosen?"

"Another world? Proxy? Their war? I must be dead or high if I'm just going to believe what I'm hearing." Jade thought in his head before continuing to listen in.

"Unfortunately this is the only way to end their war we started brother ("Wait WHAT they are brothers?!") Besides, if he won't cooperate, I will make him myself." the light being told to his "brother" before staring at the boy.

"Are you sure brother? you know as well as I that we cannot interfere with mortals and yet, here you are, using another mortal from another world as our proxy." The dark being pointed out the hypocrisy that his brother was planning to do.

"Whatever you planned to do to me I will never obey you! Even if you make me obey you, look at my world! We achieve much without gods to rule over us, we managed to handle ourselves despite our greed, corruption or idiocy!" He continued to stubbornly refuse to cooperate.

"So be it…" the being of light uttered before extending his hand out to the boy.

As the being of light extends his hand to the boy. The angry soul collapsed onto the ground and beings to cry in pain as he gripped his head in a futile attempt to stop the pain, Jade was caught off guard by the very same pain was being inflicted onto him as well, Jade clutched his head in attempts to sooth the pain to no avail only to hear something from the being before passing out from pain.

"If you won't work with us willingly, your new body will serve as your prison."

Jade woke up breathing heavily with sweat all over his body as he grasped his head and looked at the time on his scroll. It was 5.30 am. Jade tried to catch his breath before letting his thoughts run free. "What in the world was that? Was that a dream? No… it felt too real..." Jade was about to get out of his futon only to encounter amber eyes staring back at him.

"Are you alright?" Blake asked Jade with concern in her voice as she read her book in the darkest of night.

"Yea… Just a nightmare of sorts. Anyways why are you awake?"

"A nightmare? Hmm… you were tossing and turning while breathing heavily in your sleep, you kind of woke me up." Blake hummed back.

"Oh, I'm sorry if I woke you up." Jade muttered apologetically.

Jade got up from his futon and headed towards Blake and softly spoke to her.

"Can I sit here? I need to catch my breath."

"Ok" Blake replied back as Jade nodded and sat next to her. Seeing that Jade calmed down, she decides to clear some of her questions in her head.

"Jade?" Blake whispered to Jade.

"Yea?" Jade acknowledged her.

"how did you know I was a faunus back then?" Blake questionably asked Jade.

"Oh that? Well during our fight I noticed your bow twitching a couple of times and it's not hard to know you, daughter of Kali and Ghira Belladonna." Jade responds back with a smug smile on his face.

Blakes face turned pale before anxiously asking back. "How did you know my parents?"

"Well long story short, I visited Menagerie two years ago for a personal holiday. Your parents employed me to help deal with some Grimm problems and in return I stayed at their home as a guest. I must admit, you have good parents, your mother even told me about you and how she still misses you dearly. She wouldn't stop insisting that I would make a good boyfriend, is she always like that?" Jade blushed a bit as he mentioned the last part.

Blake blushed a little when she heard the end of Jade's explanation and proceeded to answer Jade's question about her mom. "Yea, she tends to tease me a lot." Blake chuckled slightly.

"She also mentioned that you were part of the White Fang, but don't worry, this will be our secret, after all we all have something to hide like Ozpin" He continued

"Oh... thank you Jade, what do you mean that the headmaster is keeping secrets?"

"When you spend a lot of time in underground societies, it's necessary to learn to read a person for whether they are lying or telling the truth, our headmaster gives the same feeling of someone keeping something a secret, what it is, I do not know." Jade says as he put his hand under his chin.

"I see…" Blake understood what Jade says as he stood up from her bed and walked towards the bathroom.

"Where are you going?" "Hmm? I need a shower, after that I'm heading towards the library."

"I get the showering part but why the library?" Blake tilts her head slightly out of curiosity.

"Well compared to everyone else in this school, I could be considered illiterate." Jade says truthfully with a hint of sadness in his voice.

"Illiterate? Blake asked back with even more curiosity in her voice.

"Yea… I grew up in an orphanage in Mistral, I don't even know my parents, but the main point is that I was forced to survive in the wilds of this world at a very young age as bandits sacked the village. They attempt to rebuild only for Grimm to come and finish what the bandits have left behind. Throughout my entire life I have had no education and I try to go to libraries to learn. But as usual, racism prevents me from learning at all." Jade responds back with sorrow in his voice and his ears pressed down on his head.

"I'm so sorry for bringing it up." Blake regretfully replied back after learning why.

"No it's not your fault, it is mine. After all, I'm the one who brought it out. If you wish, you can join me later if you want." He sends a reassuring smile back.

"I'll think about it." Blake replied back Jade proceeds to go and take a shower while Blake ponders what she had learned about Jade.

Much later in Professor Ports class…

Jade walked into Professor Port's classroom in his uniform and as soon as he stepped in, everyone had their eyes on him which made him nervous until Professor Port spoke, "Ah, you must be that new student that will be joining us. My name is Peter Port and can you come here and introduce yourself?"

Jade walked till he was beside the pudgy man before speaking. "Hello my name is Jade Grayson, it's a pleasure to meet all of you in person."

"Good! Now please go and sit with your team." Port commanded Jade to go sit with his team. Jade walked to where his team was seated and sat next to Blake.

"Where were you Jade?" Weiss asked him.

"Hmm. oh, I was in a library reading through books." Jade nonchalantly says back.

"Why did you go there kitty cat?" Yang asked.

Jade looked surprised before looking back at Blake and asking her. "You didn't tell them?"

"Tell us what?" Ruby joined in.

"I did not have the luxury of education." Jade responded back.

"Wait, you're illiterate?" Yang questioned him back.

"Yes… that's why I left earlier to get to the library. I thought Blake would have informed you about where I'm going?" he looked at Blake.

She did not," Weiss bluntly stated back.

"Team RWBY and Mr Grayson, do you have something to share with the class? No? Please pay attention." Professor Port called out to them.

"No matter, we can deal with it later." Jade tells his teammates and they nodded back at him.

Much later…

"Wow… I know you guys say he is boring but this? This goes beyond my expectations." Jade quietly told his team his thoughts of Mr Port's Class.

"Yep, you can even fall asleep in his class and he won't notice… well, most of the time." Yang joined in.

"Now then, can we have a volunteer for today's test against Grimm? How about our new student? Does he have the traits of a huntsman?"

"Me?" Jade was not expecting this as he points at himself.

"Yes, can you come here to the stage with your weapon?" Port called Jade down

"Yea Jade you can do it." Blake encouraged him though not without Yang giving a sly smirk when she noticed.

"Go Jade you can do it!" Ruby cheered.

"Of Course sir, I accept your offer" Jade responds back as he gets off his seat. A smirk can be seen on Jade's face,

"But I won't be using my weapons sir, after all, what happens should your weapon break or you lost your weapon?" Jade says back as he walks down the stage.

"Excellent point Mr Grayson, very well you may proceed. Should anything happen, I will intervene." Port gives Jade his blessing to fight without his guns and assurances in-case anything went wrong. As Jade enters the stage, his uniform begins to dissolve revealing his combat clothes though noticeably without his overcoat and more Armor located around the arms and torso. Jade gets into his stance with his half his body facing towards the cage and facing it as a mask forms on his face similar to the one from the initiation.

"I'm curious how this would turn out, what do you guys think?" Pyrrha asked the gang.

"Jady better not be all hot air else he's going to get beaten later." Yang added in.

"Jady?" Weiss asked bewildered at what she heard coming out of Yang.

"Yea! Go Jady! Break their legs!" Nora cheered.

"Nora, I don't think he would do it, he prefers to end the fight quickly." Ren tried to convince his totally not girlfriend

"Guys quiet, it's about to begin." Ruby gets the attention of everyone else as she focuses on what's going to happen.

"Mr Grayson, are you ready?" Port asked Jade only to receive a nod back.

"Very well then, let us begin" Port shot the cages with his weapon Blowhard. Several Beowolfs exited the cages all snarling at the first thing they get their eyes on, and that thing is Jade. They let out a roar as all of them charged at Jade who charged back at them. Jade dodges one of the pounces and sends a strike to the neck of the Beowolf snapping it and instantly killing it. Another attempts to pounce on him, only for Jade to grab it mid-air and swing it towards the others. The Beowolfs yelp in pain as they collide with each other, Jade the ran up to then and sends a drop kick into the chest of the Beowolf sending it flying back. He gets up to dodge another slash by a Beowolf and grabs it by the neck, he then slams it into the ground crushing its neck, killing it. Seeing the remaining three Beowolfs getting up and growing at him, one foolishly ran at him only to get grabbed by the leg, Jade enhances himself with aura and then use the poor Beowolf as a makeshift club and started bashing the others much to the chagrin of Weiss and laughter of Yang and the others. As the Beowolfs begin to die, Jade hangs the Beowolf with his semblance before sending a spin kick towards the Beowolf's neck, killing it with an audible snap.

"Ho Ho Ho! We have a true Huntsman in the making here and a good example of dealing with Grimm unarmed, though Mr Grayson, please refrain from using Grimm as a makeshift weapon in the future please."

"Of course Professor, I will refrain from beating Grimm with Grimm." Jade says with a grin on his face

"That's all for today students dismissed." Port says as he leaves the room.

"That was Awesome!" Ruby cheered.

" That was entertaining." Blake commented.

"So you are not all hot air good, we still have a rematch later today." Yang gave a smile that just screams danger as Jade shrunk a bit.

"Renny, we should do what Jady did!"

"Nora no."

"Nora yes!"

"Aww thanks guys and besides, its lunch time lets go." Jade blushed before walking out of the door with the rest following him.

Much later…

Everyone is currently at the dining room enjoying their meal or chatting with each other but not Jade, Jade was busy reading about Grimm.

"So Kitty cat, what did you get there?" Yang asked Jade.

"Hmm? Just a book about Grimm and also trying to decipher what professor Port tried to teach us earlier despite his ramblings." Jade offhandedly told Yang while continuing to flip pages of his book.

"Boring…" Yang muttered before smirking.

"Jade what are your first impressions of us so far?" she continued.

While remaining focused and flipping through his book he answered. " Why are you asking this question again Yang?"

"Well… if you must know, I'm just curious what our resident kitty cat thinks of staying in a dorm of four beautiful girls." She says with a teasing smirk on her face.

"Ugh... are you really asking Jade that question Yang?" Weiss with an annoyed look on her face questioned Yang.

"Yes" She blatantly answers back.

Jade blushed slightly before putting his book down to answer back only to receive looks from his own team and sister team who were expecting an answer from him.

Jade sighed before conceding to their request. "Well, let's start with Ruby first, at first I questioned the idea of a youngster being present in this school."

Ruby seemed to have a sadden look on her face. "But she had shown potential, after all, team RWBY did work together to take me down with her coordinating it."

Ruby's mood improved immediately with a slight blush on her cheeks before saying, "aww thank you Jade."

"now let's continue, as for Weiss, well despite her being a Schnee,"

Weiss showed an irked expression and was about to say something but Jade continued. "she is her own person, I will not judge her for her father's sins against my people, to judge her for that makes us no better than the worst of humanity."

This earned a surprised look from everyone, especially from Weiss and Blake themselves. "wow that's very thoughtful of you, thank you Jade." Weiss thanked Jade.

"Now then, as for Blake, compared to others, she respects my privacy unlike someone…" He glanced at Yang who whistled before continuing on, "but also she is one of those people that I don't mind hanging out more often, other than that, it's still early on what impressions of her."

"That's all?" Ruby asked.

"Yea… Moving on. And lastly Yang, I see her as the bruiser of the group and rightly so, back when they were sent to arrest me, she was the one who hit the hardest out of all of them. Though I wish to know more about her hand to hand combat as I am slightly weaker in it." Jade finished off.

"Well you don't have to worry about it Jady, after lunch is Miss Goodwitch lessons, I can give a proper demonstration." see says with a smirk on her face.

"Why are you calling me Jady?" he asked with an annoyed expression as his ears twitched.

"I'm just seeing if it would press your buttons and it's working, Jady."

"Ugh whatever…" Jade groaned and continued eating while Yang was laughing in her seat.

At Miss Goodwitch class,

It was near the end of Combat class and Weiss had just beaten one of the members of team CRDL. Seeing that they still had time for one more match, Glynda decides to get the students to volunteer for the final match. "Now, we can do one more fight for today, are any of you willing to volunteer for the last fight? practice?" As soon as Glynda had asked for volunteers for today's match, Yang immediately stood up and raised her hand.

"Very well Xiao Long, and who would be your opponent?"

" I wish to fight Jade."

Meanwhile, Jade was busy reading a book about dust when his name gets called. He sighed as he put his book down and headed down into the arena with Thorn and Lumina while his mask began to form on his face.

Seeing the chance to talk to Yang he asked, "I assume this is what you meant by a rematch? Very well then you'll get one."

"You bet kitty cat, I still haven forgive you for cutting my hair." Yang walked down into the stage as cheers can be heard all around.

Both Jade and Yang walked into the opposite sides of the arena before facing each other and taking their stance. Glynda looked between Jade and Yang and gave a nod.

"Ready? Begin!"

As soon as those words were said, Yang immediately charged at Jade while he proceeded to fire some rounds at Yang. Yang dodges the shots fired and sends some back, Jade seeing this, does a roll to the side before switching into swords and charging at Yang. Both swung at each other resulting in a clash. Yang proceeds to send another punch to Jade's face only for Jade to intercept it with his sword. Jade then shoves Yang back and Jumps away while sending even more shots back at Yang, Yang tries to dodge but a couple of rounds hit their mark. Seeing a chance to hit Jade, Yang dashes in closer and throws a punch at where Jade is going to land. Seeing what's going to happen, Jade summons his Semblance to parry Yang's punch only for her to grab it and yank it. Jade led out a yelp as he was dragged into Yang's punch to the face, sending him flying back and landing on his feet.

Yang then charges at Jade again only for him to dodge her strike and slams both his swords into her chest. This sends Yang flying back while Jade fires some shots as well, sending her back even further. Yang now having the case of being angry, Charges again with her eyes now glowing red and hair on fire. Realising this, Jade dashes in and dodges Yang's punch and sends one sword back at her. Yang however, dodges his swing and blasts Jade with Ember Celica, Jade deflects the shots sent by Yang and dashes closer, Yang sends a barrage of punches only for Jade to dodge it again and sneakily bind her legs up with his semblance. Losing her balance, Yang fell to the ground and Jade lifted her up into the air as his semblance continued to slowly wrap and bind Yang.

"Yang Xiao Long, you are unable to fight back, do you Yield?" Jade who's exhausted from all the dodging demands Yang to surrender.

Yang sadly sighs before Yielding. " I Yield."

Glynda, who has been observing the fight, decides to say the verdict.

"Yang Xiao Long has yielded, the winner is Jade Grayson."

Cheers can be heard throughout the arena as Jade lets Yang down and unbinds her before reaching his hand out to her as a smile can be seen on his face.

"That was a great fight Yang, I believe this is the rematch you were looking for?"

Yang grasped Jade's hand and rose to her feet and smiled, before commenting.

"You know, it's been a long time since I actually lost, so yea, this was a good fight."

As Jade and Yang began praising each other, the others came to check on them. "That was awesome you guys were like HoooWahaah! Witchaaa!" Ruby excitedly says as she makes karate-style poses and noises.

"We get it Ruby" Weiss sighs as she stares at Ruby making poses.

"That was one hell of a fight you guys did right there" Jaune complimented them.

"If we get a chance, I would like to have a spar with you Jade." Pyrrha compliments him.

"Knowing how rumours spread around here I bet by tomorrow, everyone would have heard about our fight Yang" Jade tiredly told Yang.

"Yea… I need a shower and food as well" she answered back. Blake walked up to Jade and passed him back his book.

"Ah, thank you Blake." Jade smiled at Blake as he took his books from her.

"Oh... you going to tell me that you two are in a relationship yet?" Yang butted in with a smirk on her face.

"Wait What!"

"Yang! We are not in a relationship!"

Jade was caught off guard while Blake yelled at Yang while blushing in a deep red as Yang started laughing.

"Yang really? Jade just officially joined us yesterday." Weiss grumbled at Yang's antics.

Sighing, Jade mumbles "just let me take a shower and I'll meet ya at the dining hall for dinner, see ya." Jade starts to walk away.
