Chapter 4: There and Back Again

"Ok now that we are done with all of that, and we're no longer soaking wet what should we do now?" Starla said, winking at Bonnie.

Ash hoped it was what he was thinking. "Is it time yet? I feel like I've been waiting for months."

"Lets go to Vaniville Town next!" Bonnie said, trying not to seem obvious.

"Vaniville Town?" Clemont said confused at first. "Oh we haven't told Serena that Ash is back yet! Let's go then."

"It is a long walk from here, and my legs are getting tired already." Starla started, "is there any faster way to get there?"

"I don't remember any as of now." Ash replied, hoping that they would still go. "But it's not that long of a walk."

Bonnie stared at Starla, which told her that they must go.

"Alright then, let's get started now so that we will be there in time for dinner." Starla said quickly, and started walking.

"Um Starla, it's that way." Ash said, pointing to the opposite direction.

"Oh ok, are there any gyms I can challenge there?" Starla said hopefully.

"No gyms in Vaniville." Ash replied, knowing now that she wanted to challenge gyms in Kalos.

"LETS START WALKING NOW!" Bonnie shouted, way ahead of them.

After walking to Vaniville Town, they were completely surrounded with fans asking for Ash's autograph.

"IT'S ASH!" Someone shouted, pointing at him.

"THE POKÉMON MASTER, HE'S HERE." Someone else yelled.

There was also a line of people holding out paper and pens, begging Ash for his autograph.

"So much for being surprised," Bonnie grumbled. "How much longer until Ash has a relaxing date?!"

"No photos please!" Clemont shouted as journalists and tourists grabbed their cameras and started taking pictures.

After what seemed to be an hour, people left.
"Finally." Bonnie sighed, "I am so tired now."

"Let's find somewhere to stay." Clemont said, looking for a hotel.

"There's one over there, and there's lots of trainers battling there, I will go there while you check in." Bonnie said, pointing to a section of the hotel that had a green field, filled with trainers battling.

"I'm gonna battle too!" Ash said, following.

"Ok," Clemont said. "So I'll just check us in then?"

"I'll go check in too, I want to make sure its a good room." Starla said, following Clemont to the lobby.

"There are so many people battling here Ash." Bonnie noticed, viewing the area before pausing. She recognized two trainers there that were battling.

"Lets go over there, Ash." Bonnie said, pointing to them.

As they walked over, they could hear the battle better:

"Blaziken! Use Overheat!" One of them shouted.

"Gardevoir! Use Moonblast!" The other shouted back.

One of the trainers turned and saw them.

"Ash!" She said happily.

"Bonnie, its May and Max! Max actually has pokémon now!" Ash said happily, running over to them.

Bonnie followed them, and she recognized them too. "Hi again May and Max!" She shouted, now running too.

When they got there Bonnie explained how she met them.

"Serena watched you battling Leon with them, then a year later she introduced me to them." Bonnie said, as May and Max got ready to continue their battle. "We are great friends and visit each other every month."

May and Max then continued their battle.

"Blaziken use Blaze Kick." May said, watching Gardevoir."

"Gardevoir! Use Moonblast!" Max said confidently.

May's Blaziken eventually won the battle.

"Man, I can't believe I lost!" Max pouted.

"Max, you'll never be able to battle Ash if you can't defeat me in battle, but don't worry, I got something for you to cheer you up." May smiles.

"Is it a cookie?" Max asked.

"Take off your glasses and close your eyes." May smiles cheerfully.

"Is it a soda?" Max asked.

"Do it!" May shouts angrily as she was about to hit him, Max did what she told him to do, and she gave him a kiss on the cheek. Then Max ran into the hotel. He came back with a soda, going over to Ash, "now I have a reward."

Then they all went to a restaurant in the hotel for dinner.

"Delia's Delicacies is one of my favorite restaurants to go to," Bonnie said while the food was served. "But I only realized just now that your mom owns it. This food is always great!"

"This food is in every region." Clemont said, while packing some to go. "But how many are in Kanto, Ash?"

"There's one in every town," Ash said, starting on his seconds. "So about 10."

The next day they went back to the restaurant for breakfast, then headed to Serena's house.

"I'm sorry but Serena's not here," Grace told them while serving them some juice. "She went to Lumiose City last night. Would you like me to call her and let her know you're here?"

"Thats ok, we can go over there." Bonnie said quickly.

"The long walk again?! Fine." Starla sighed.

"Well let's go then, before its dark!" Bonnie said, walking out the door.

"What about the juice?" Ash asked, sipping it slowly.

"JUICE CAN WAIT." Bonnie yelled, while she and Starla pushed him out the door.

"Whats the rush?!" Clemont shouted as he ran after them.

"Thanks Grace," May said before running out the door with Max. "Bye!"

"Come back soon." Grace said before closing the door.

"Pyroar! Come on out." Starla said before leaving, the Pyroar let her climb on top of it with a saddle and ride it. "Thank you so much Pyroar, people walk all the time here now and thats tiring."
"Py-roar!" Pyroar agreed.

Ash definitely wanted to run instead. Pikachu followed him happily. With Bonnie, May, Max and Clemont following.

Once they made it to Lumiose City, they realized they didn't know where in the city Serena was.

"Maybe we should call Grace." Bonnie said, getting her phone from her bag.

"Just as long as we don't have to go back again." Starla said, going to a nearby bench and sitting down. She handed some snacks to Pyroar.

"Py- Pyroar. Pyroar!" Pyroar said, having his paw point to the nearby woods.

"Alright then, Pyroar." Starla told him. ""Just remember come back to the gym by sunset, ok?"

Pyroar nodded, then ran off.

"Did Grace answer?" Starla then asked Bonnie.

"Nope," she replied before getting up and startiing to walk. "Lets just search around the city then."

They searched most of the city until sunset.

"I need to go get Pyroar now, it's starting to get late." Starla said, heading to the gym.

"Alright then, let's go." Clemont said, following her.

"We'll keep looking for Serena," Bonnie said, heading another direction. "See you later." She said as Ash, May and Max followed her.

After a while though, they started to get tired. "Lets head back Ash." She yawned, slowly walking towards the gym. "Maybe tomorrow we can try again?"

A very disappointed Ash followed her to the gym, also sleepy.

Once they arrived, Bonnie was about to open the door, when someone else came out. She turned behind and started to close the door."Bye Clemont, Max and Starla!" She said, as the door closed. "I will come back soon.

When she turned around, she was immediately surprised and overjoyed. She has been waiting 5 years, and finally the moment has come.

"ASH!" She shouted, running to him.
