A Royal on Skull Island Ch. 02
One Year Later
Raven tosses the book out a window. "Why isn't it working!?"
The witchling falls to the floor of her dorm. The girl then glances up at Apple's side. The Rebel had kept that side clean and tidy for when her roommate returns. As opposed to her own side that is covered in books, empty vials, used candles, and various ingredients.
The voice of Milton Grimm rings throughout the entire school. "Will Raven Queen please come to my office?"
With a sigh, Raven pulls herself up and begins her long trek to the office.
When the Witchling enters the office she finds both Brothers Grimm waiting for her. With Milton sitting at the desk while Giles stands next to him. She takes a seat across from them.
The older Grimm glares, "Do you understand why you are here, Ms. Queen?"
"Not really," the Rebel shrugs. "Is this going to take long? I was in the middle of something."
Giles fiddles with his glasses. "Does that something have anything to do with Apple?" the teen's silence was the only answer he needs.
Milton sighs and looks down, now wearing a solemn gaze. "Look, Ms. Queen. It has been a year since Ms. White's disappearance. It's best to accept the worst possible outcome," he then gains a stoic expression. "I figured you'd be happy, since this means that there's no way you can follow your destiny."
Raven's eyes start glowing, "This has nothing to do with destiny!" she is surrounded by purple flames. "Apple is one of my best friends and I know she's out there somewhere! I need to find her!"
The younger Grimm holds up his hands, "Calm down, Raven!" The witchling does so and the flames die down. "My brother should have used his words more wisely. However, you are more worked up than anyone else over the matter. Excluding Queen Snow herself. Why might I ask?"
The Rebel sighs. "We had a fight, and I may have gone a bit far by saying something I shouldn't," she looks up at them. "I need to apologize to her."
"I can understand, Raven," Milton glances at his younger brother. "We all make mistakes and is often hard to make amends," he then turns back to his student. "However! I cannot condone your current practicing."
"What's wrong with using a little bit of magic?"
"Nothing's wrong with magic itself," Giles announces. "It is the type of magic that concerns me. There's a reason that Dark Magic is restricted to Baba Yaga's Evil-nomics, Raven."
Milton agrees. "More than a year ago, I would have praised you for such activities as it would have showed your desire for being evil. But now, I fear that if you are to continue down this path in such emotional state you'd become more like your mother."
Raven's eyes widen at the mention of her mother.
The Headmaster raises a brow, "Ms. Queen?"
Before anything else was said, the witchling casts a silent sleep spell and the Grimm brothers enter a slumber where they remain.
Raven goes around the desk and presses the button to reveal the hidden passageway. The witchling makes her way through the corridor and up the steps and is soon met by her pet dragon. "Not now, Nevermore!" she snaps at her dragon who flinches. "Sorry. There's something important I need to do, girl."
The Rebel finally enters the chamber with a mirror in the center of it. She calls out, "Mom!"
"Well, well, well," The Evil Queen appears in the reflection. "To what do I owe this visit. I wasn't hexpecting you for another week," the woman examines her nails. "That's if you actually came this time."
"I need your help, mom," Raven explains. "I'm trying to find Apple. I've hexhausted every spell I can get my hands on."
"And you think I have the means to find the spawn of my enemy?" the Evil Queen cackles. "Even if I could help. What makes you think that I would?"
"I'll let you out!" she blurts out to her mother. "I'll smash this mirror right now if you can find my friend."
The woman gawks at her daughter in disbelief before regaining her composure. "You're welcome to try."
Raven did not hesitate to blast the mirror, only for her magic to bounce off some glyphs and scatter throughout the room. "What?" she then grabs a chair and tosses it at the mirror and sees that it has no effect either.
"The Grimm's took extra precautions to ensure that my escape won't be that easy," the mother informs and soon sighs, seeing her daughter falling to her knees. "You'll need a map."
"Huh?"
"It needs to be a map of all of Ever After. Not a corner can be left out. Then, you'll need a strand of Apple's hair. Are you getting this?"
"Why?"
The Queen sighs, "I figure it wouldn't hurt to do something good once in a while. Especially for you."
"Thank you, Mom," Raven clutches the mirror into a hug. "I won't forget this."
"You're welcome, Raven," the mother smiles. "Now there is one last thing you'll need, and it is very important. A compass that does not point with a drop of blood of one who is closest to Apple."
"Queen Snow White may be the one person more eager than me to find Apple. But she'd be hesitant for a blood offer. Especially given that the spell came from you."
"No, she wouldn't allow that," Evil Queen shakes her head. "But close does not necessarily mean blood related. It must come from someone who cares for Apple deeply."
"And you're sure this will work?" Raven eyes her mother.
"The only reason this spell will not work is if Apple White is dead," her reply leaves a look of horror on her daughter's face. "Or she's in a different realm. In which case you'll have to travel to another one and repeat the spell."
For the first time, Raven has hope. "I'll travel to a hundred realms if it means finding my friend!" she declares before leaving the tower!"
"Good luck, Raven!" Evil Queen gives a sincere smile. Which is a rare occurrence for the villain.
