Well here's the next chapter of my story, FanFic is fixed now and back in business besides that, I got to ask you guys, Should I do something different? I was thinking of writing a RWBY react fic or a new RWBY SI fic set in volume 4, I do not know, so what do you guys think? Leave a review and we shall see where it goes. Anyway let's move on to this chapter after addressing some comments which we don't… Oh well.
Disclaimer: I do not own RWBY only my OCs. RWBY belongs to Rooster teeth and their creator (bless his soul) Monty Oum.

Chapter 17
Holes in the Mountains
"Professor Oobleck?" Weiss called Professor- I mean Doctor Oobleck.
"Yes, I'm afraid those bags won't be necessary, girls, seeing as you've opted to shadow a Huntsman on what is now essentially a reconnaissance mission. I can assure you; we will not be establishing a single base of operations; rather, we will be traversing several miles of hazardous wasteland and making camp in any defendable locations we may stumble upon. I packed all of our essentials myself, plotted our air course, and readied the airship. And..." Doctor Oobleck then zoomed up right to Weiss' face before speaking again.
"It's Doctor Oobleck. I didn't earn a PhD for fun, thank you very much!"
Weiss looks over to Blake and Jade, who are equally disturbed while Jade has the face of despair.
"Uh…" Weiss could only utter after the doctor's speech.
"I… What?!" Jade could only vocalize a part of his confusion as Doctor Oobleck called all of them.
"Come now, children; according to my schedule, we are already three minutes behind! ...schedule!" He then zips off to the airship docked farther ahead of everyone else as team RWBY (and Jade) just stood there with various expressions.
"Well, alright, then! Looks like we're going to save the world with Doctor Oooobleck- okay yeah when you say it out loud it sounds worse." Ruby tried to sound positive about it, but she couldn't and ended up as depressed about the situation as her teammates.
"Save the world?" Nora could be heard as team RWBY (and Jade) turned around to see Nora and Team JNPR approaching.
"You're going on world-saving missions without us? I'm hurt... sad!" Nora acted all dramatic till her stomach then rumbled.
"Maybe a little hungry? That last one's not your fault, though, Ren…" Nora then looks at the not boyfriend as he simply crosses his arms and turns away.
"Saving the world? Well, I guess you can consider it…" Jade thought to himself as Jaune was next to ask.
"Sounds exciting. Where ya going?"
"Oh, just outside the kingdom…" Ruby answered Jaune's question
"Hey! So are we!" Nora cheerfully says back.
"Ren and Nora wanted to shadow the sheriff of a nearby village." Pyrrha says as Jade just shrugged and spoke.
"Well, while you shadow a sheriff, we got Grimm hunting with Doctor Oobleck…" Blake also sighed as well before asking them.
"So when are you heading out?" Blake asked their sister team.
"We set out tomorrow." Ren responded to Blake who nodded.
"Then you can party with us tonight!" A familiar voice can be heard as Neptune and Sun approach the two teams.
"We're shadowing a crime specialist. All inner-city detective stuff. We get junior badges." Nep finished talking as Jaune looked awestruck as Jade just mumbled something about catching criminals which Vale is incompetent at doing. This also earned a giggle from Blake who was always beside him.
"We normally go to the city with you guys, which means stuff's always exploding and junk, so we thought this might be a better way to check out the kingdom when it's, you know... normal." Sun then continued where his partner left off.
"Well-" Ruby was about to say something till Profes- I mean Doctor Oobleck called them as he appears from the airship to call to Team RWBY (and Jade), who are embarrassed at his presence
"Four minutes, ladies! And Gentlemen!" Doctor Oobleck called them as team JNPR, Sun and Neptune just smiled awkwardly at them.
"Well, uh…" Ruby then throws a thumbs-up. "Wish us luck!" She says as everyone disbanded off as team RWBY (and Jade) made it back to the ship.
"I swear, it won't be the Grimm that would kill us but our embarrassment of Doctor Oobleck that would be our end." Jade muttered loudly only to receive a variety of agreements about this.
After a while…
Team RWBY could be seen in the airship as it flies over buildings and streets, Jade and Blake could be seen leaning on each other while holding hands and enjoying the presence of each other while somehow not falling to the ground much to the confusion of their team. Yang and Ruby were next to each other as Weiss was beside Doctor Oobleck.
It was then in which Yang decided to start up a conversation.
"I guess I just never saw you as much of a fighter." Yang starts up by looking at Oobleck.
"I admit I fancy myself more of an intellectual, (*chuckles* Nerd!) but I can assure you, as a Huntsman, I've had my fair share of tussles."
"Like the mushroom?" Ruby asked as she tilted her head in confusion.
"Those are truffles." Blake leaned over as Jade just looked really bored.
"Like the sprout?" Ruby is still befuddled as she scratches her head.
"Those are Brussels." Yang says as she also leaned over.
"I believe he is saying that despite his love of knowledge, he can fight and have been into fights before." This received a bunch of noises and nods of understanding as Doctor Oobleck just continued on with his ramblings.
"Besides, given my expertise in the field of history as well as my dabblings in the archaeological surveys, our dear headmaster saw fit to assign me to this particular... assignment!"
"Right…" Jade says as he glances at Blake who shrugs at him back as her ears twitched.
"What does history have to do with this?" Weiss then asked.
"Why, what a preposterous question, you silly girl! Why, history is the backbone of our very society! And the liver! Probably the kidneys, if I were to wager."
"He is not wrong but…" Jade mumbled as Weiss asked again.
"And that means..?"
"The southeast quadrant outside of Vale is home to wild forests and deep caves, but it is also the location to one of the kingdom's greatest failures!" Oobleck continued.
"Mountain Glenn." Ruby then answered.
"That's right! It was an expansion of Vale... but in the end, it was overrun by Grimm and fenced off from the rest of the city." Yang was next to answer.
"Correct! And now it stands abandoned as a dark reminder."
"And a likely place for a hideout." Blake then spoke as Jade smiled.
"Precisely!" Oobleck smiles as he adjusted his glasses.
"And it makes sense at the same time. People tend to not investigate ruined areas, especially areas overrun by Grimm, so it makes sense that the Fang would have a hideout there." Jade confirmed as the doctor continued to smile and nod at what Jade was saying.
At the same time Jade was conversing about what will happen but… Raphael looks unsure, he then explained that Torchwick was important to this part and by removing him months earlier… The information Raphael carries becomes less accurate as time passes. Jade understood this and both souls have to go in blind sooner in the future as now that the info he carried is becoming less accurate by the day.
Some time had passed till Blake started to think about Jade, as something was bothering him. With the Vytal festival coming in a few weeks, Jade seems to get more restless despite his attempts to calm down and remain stoic as ever, even more now that they are on their way to disrupt the Fangs hideout. Did he know what was going to happen? No, that was ridiculous, there's no way he knew what was going to happen. Or could he? She needs to ask him when this event is done.
It was much later that the airship arrived at the sights of ruined buildings and structures, it then slowed down as the back hatch of the ship opened up as it floated over the ground. Ruby, Weiss, Blake, Yang, and Jade then draw their weapons out as all five of them leapt off the craft. Doctor Oobleck then followed them with his coffee canister out as the airship flew away.
Ladies and gentlemen! You still may be students, but as of this moment, your first mission as Huntsman and Huntresses has begun! From this point forward, you need to do exactly as I say! Do you understand? Oobleck instructed his students as all of them nodded. He then noticed that Ruby still brought her bag and called her.
"Ruby! I thought I told you to leave all of your bags back at school."
"But, uh, you hadn't told us to listen to you yet. So I didn't." Ruby gave her answer as Jade started to chuckle at what Ruby had said.
"She's not wrong…" Oobleck muttered to himself before continuing. "Very well, Ruby; leave your bag here, we can pick it up upon our return."
"But I, well uh-" Ruby tried to create an excuse only for Oobleck to interrupt her.
"Young lady, what in the world could you possibly have in that bag that could be so important to bring it with- "Oobleck could not finish what he wants to say as the bag's zipper opens and out pops Zwei's head, causing everyone to stare at the uninvited guest.
"Are you kidding me?" Jade said in shock.
"Get back in the bag." Ruby ordered Zwei while whispering through the side of her mouth as Zwei merely barks in response.
"We're here to investigate an abandoned urban jungle teeming with death and hostility, and you brought... a dog?"
"I, uh…"
"Genius!" Oobleck yelled as he sped past Ruby while also snatching Zwei as he spun it through the air before continuing on his lecture.
"Canines are historically known for their perceptive nose and heightened sense of sound, making them excellent companions for a hunt such as ours!" Oobleck says as Zwei barks happily in his hands.
"I'm a genius!" Ruby proudly states after she recovered from Oobleck's unexpected reaction.
All of her teammates could only just facepalm at what Ruby had done.
"So Doctor… What do we do now? Find a lonely Grimm and let it bring us to them?" Jade sarcastically said as Oobleck just stared at him.
"You are correct Mr. Grayson." Oobleck just agreed with what Jade had just said much to his shock and his team's confusion.
"You gotta be kidding me, Doctor."
"I'm afraid I am not Mr. Grayson, let me explain. Grimm will congregate in this particular area, the most likely of which will be their attraction to negativity: sadness, envy, loneliness, hatred. All qualities that are likely held by our hidden group harbouring ill intent." Oobleck explained.
"So what you are saying is to follow them till they lead us toward them?" Yang asked.
"Yes. We let the Grimm bring us to them."
"Speaking of Grimm, there is a Beowolf not far from here." Blake then got everyone's attention as she pointed at a Beowolf who is alone not far from them.
"Something is not right… unless..." Jade mumbled as he observed the Beowolf and tightened his grip on his guns.
"Why, lone Grimm have been known to stay isolated from the pack for months - and there's the whole pack." Oobleck was also suspicious as to why there was only one Beowolf till it's pack members arrived.
"Uhm… I think they spot us." Ruby stated as the Beowolfs began to converge on their location as the rest nodded.
"An accurate assumption, yes." Oobleck just stated.
"What's the pla-" *BANG* *BANG* *BANG* *BANG* *BANG* *BANG* Yang did not manage to say finished as Jade stood up and fired his hand cannons at the Beowolf pack. Poor Zwei was scared at the gunfire and hid in the bag that Ruby was carrying.
Each of his shots landed on their mark as the bodies of the Beowolfs crashed against the floor and began to disintegrate.
"You have Grimm coming at ya and you guys decide to sit and make a plan?" Jade then kept his guns as he looked at his team who were surprised at what he did.
"A good lesson can be learned here girls; you should never hesitate when fighting Grimm. Mr. Grayson had shown no hesitation when it comes with Grimm, I hope to see it in the future with you girls." Oobleck began to lecture the girls as Jade kept looking out to see if there were any more Grimm in the vicinity, his ears can also be seen twitching around.
"Right…" Weiss said as Oobleck began talking again.
"I am certain this is the first bout of many that will come. Shall we continue?" Oobleck asked as everyone nodded and followed him.
Some time had passed Ruby, Blake and Jade could be seen slicing, stabbing, kicking, and shooting at Grimm as Oobleck was rooting through a plant as Grimm parts fell around him. He was then surrounded by tired Huntsman and Huntresses.
"Excellent work, girls and boys! Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any signs of criminal operations in this sector. Oh, well! Moving on!" Oobleck says as he begins walking off to somewhere.
"Hey, Doc, y'know, I was actually looking forward to seeing a "pro-Huntsman" in action. Like, fighting, or at least, helping us fight?" Yang irritably asked the Doctor as everyone else began to follow him as Jade talked to Raphael.
"So where is this hideout exactly?" He asked.
"*Sighs* The damn show did not show us where exactly… All I know is that Ruby will stumble upon it and Zwei will be the one who will bring you guys there." Raphael just grumbled about it before disappearing as Jade returned his attention to his Shadow.
"Ah, but I am in action! Scouring the ruins of this once-great city for any signs of irregularity! Not every mission is filled with daring and heroism, girls. Sometimes it's just a heightened form of extermination! Remember, this is a job, and you all signed up for it. I do hope you understand that." Oobleck explained.
"Well, yeah... O-Of course!" Yang tried to sound more confident.
After some time, Oobleck could be seen with Yang.
"Tell me, Yang: Why did you choose this line of work?"
"Huh? Well, to fight monsters and save-"
"No, that is what you do. I want to know why you do it. The honest reason as to why you want to be a Huntress."
"The honest reason? I'm a thrill-seeker. I want to travel around the world and get wrapped up in as many crazy adventures as I can. And if I help people along the way, then that's even better. It's a win-win, y'know?"
"I see." Oobleck said before walking off.
Oobleck was then sitting on a high windowsill writing in his journal while Weiss fought off Beowolves below.
"And you, Miss Schnee? A girl born into fame and fortune such as yourself certainly doesn't need the extra work. So... why choose this over a cushy job in Atlas?"
"It's exactly as you said: I'm a Schnee. I have a legacy of honour to uphold. Once I realized I was capable of fighting, there was no longer a question of what I would do with my life. It was my duty."
"Interesting." Oobleck said as he nodded his head before disappearing to find his other students.
Oobleck then jumps down where Blake slashes a door down and releases a swarm of small Nevermores from the building, which she back-flips under before she shoots them all with her blade's pistol form.
"And what about you, Blake? You seem to carry yourself with a sense of purpose."
"There's too much wrong in this world to just stand by and do nothing. Inequality, corruption… And... to protect the man I love."
"I see… referring to Mr. Grayson I suppose?" He asked as Blake nodded.
"An admirable goal, but how will you achieve it?" he asked.
"I, Uh…" Blake was unable to answer.
Oobleck "Hmm's" to himself, then dashes away to go and find Jade, leaving Blake to think about how she would achieve it.
Jade could be seen on a tree with his mask on, sniping Beowolfs, Ursa while keeping an eye open for any more Grimm to kill. Oobleck then walked up to Jade as he nodded at him before asking.
"For someone who had dealt with the harshness of the world, Why did you choose to join us?" He asked as Jade sighed and put down his sniper before addressing him.
"Originally… I only stuck around because I had no choice, after all, your headmaster did blackmail me to make me join his school but…" Jade paused before continuing on as Oobleck raised an eyebrow.
"Now… I stay to protect those I care about, team RWBY, JNPR, and the woman I loved with my heart, Blake. All of them gave meaning to my life when I joined this school. Before then it was all about survival and money, nothing more. But now? I fight for them. To keep them safe even if I must die to save them. Then I will do it without hesitation." Jade answered with determination in his eyes.
"Very interesting." Oobleck muttered as he left, leaving Jade to take aim again and fired a shot at a stray Beowolf that had separated from its pack.
Much later…
"Ruby is using her weapon most practically and lifting a whole turkey on the sharp end of her gun to tease a jumping and flipping Zwei with. That is, until she spots her teacher watching, quickly sheathing Crescent Rose." (and the turkey magically vanishes.)
"Sorry! Uh... Are we ready to keep going?" She asked.
"Nope! I believe that will have to do for today. It's going to be dark soon." Oobleck then throws his bag over to Yang who then catches it. "You four, set up camp in that building. Oh, and please do make sure there are no more of those... creatures. Your leader and I are going to secure the perimeter. Come, Ruby."
They start walking away from the rest of RWBY, who each look at their leader, knowing what she'll be asked.
"Well... I don't know about you guys but we better get going and make a camp." Jade then asked his team who nodded as all of them made their way towards the building as they killed any Grimm that got in their way.
It was up there that they set up a campsite as Jade used his survival skill while alone to help start a fire for all to sit by or stand near it. Both Blake and Jade could be seen sitting and leaning on each other as Jade gave Blake head pats and ear scratches. It was then in which Yang decided to start a conversation.
"So I guess the Doctor came to all of you and asked about it?" Yang asked.
"Yea…"
"Yup."
"Mm."
"What did you guys say?" Yang asked again as everyone looked at each other to see who would start first.
"I suppose I will start first… I chose to become a Huntress because I have a legacy of honour to uphold. Once I realized I was capable of fighting, there was no longer a question of what I would do with my life. It was my duty to do it." Weiss was the first gave her response as everyone nodded
"I suppose it is my turn, I chose to become a Huntress because I'm a thrill seeker, I want to explore around the world and get into many crazy adventures." Yang then answered.
"Well, I guess we all have our reasons to become a Huntsman or Huntresses… Blake, do you want to go first or do you wish for me to go first?" Jade asked his girlfriend.
"I will go Jade; I chose to become a Huntress because there's too much wrong in this world to just stand by and do nothing. Inequality for us faunus, corruption everywhere, and I also now do it to become better at protecting you Jade, you mean a lot to me." Blake gave her reason as she smiled at the last reason.
"Blake…" Jade could only mutter as he hugged Blake as the other two cooed at what they saw.
"I guess it is my turn," Jade then broke away his hug before facing the rest of his team.
"At first… I did not want to become a Huntsman. After all, Ozpin did give me an offer that I cannot refuse. But as time grew by… I now wish to become a Huntsman to protect you guys, team JNPR and Blake the woman I loved with my life. You guys gave me my life meaning besides surviving and money and I have all of you to thank for." Jade just smiled as everyone's gloom reaction turned to something more hopeful.
"Well, that's heart-warming and nice to hear." Weiss cream smiled.
"Reminds me of my dad's overprotectiveness over me and Ruby." Yang also smiled.
"Well then… I guess we just sit by and wait till both of them come back?" Jade then asked as everyone just shrugged and began to talk about some stuff till Oobleck and Ruby came back.
"Ah, wonderful; a textbook campfire!" Oobleck says as he rushed into the room and scared Jade in the process in which Yang laughed about it.
"Fire! So... warm…" Ruby giggled at Jade getting spooked by Oobleck before sitting near the fires.
"Very good! Eat your dinners and hurry to bed. We have a lot of ground to cover tomorrow and we'll need you to take turns keeping watch over our temporary abode. Any volunteers for the first watch?" Oobleck asked
"Yo." Ruby said as she raised her hand while still looking into the fire.
Oobleck then rushes off somewhere, and Ruby gets up to go over to her lookout point.
"Well… at least this is a somewhat good dinner. Could be worse…" Jade muttered as he ate his bread.
"You ate worse?" Weiss asked.
"Are you sure you want to hear it?" Jade then asked as Weiss went wide-eyed.
"No!" "Yes!" Weiss said no while Yang said yes to piss her off.
"Blake?" Jade then asked his girlfriend as she also ate her bread.
"I prefer not to." She just states as she continue to eat her bread.
"Well too bad Yang, next time you would get lucky." Yang just pouted when she got outvoted.
Much later after dinner, all four of them had set up their mats with Blake and Jade having their mats next to each other. All three of them said their goodnight despite asking themselves why they were here.
After a while... All three of them were unable to sleep, it was then in which Yang was tired of pretending to sleep, and then she was the first to speak.
"Guys, are you awake?"
"Yeah" Blake muttered as she pets Jade's ears as he was sleeping.
"Why do you think he asked us about being a Huntress? Like, what was he trying to say?"
"Maybe he was just curious." Blake said.
"No. He was not curious." Jade said as he woke up from the two talking.
"Jade? You are also awake?" Yang says with surprise.
"Yea, I can tell that all three of you are still questioning why the doctor asked you that question." Jade said as he got up.
"Weiss are you also up?" Blake asked.
"Of course I'm awake! You three are talking quite loud." Weiss said as she also got up.
"Jade, why do you think Oobleck asked all of us that question?" Blake said as all of them looked at Jade as he stared at the campfire.
"The Doctor asked us that question because he wants to know if all of you know what you are going to do after we all graduate from Beacon. For example myself. I had no drive when I joined Beacon, all I cared about was my own safety and money at first. But as I told you all earlier, my drive changed to protecting those I care about. Even then, we all signed up as Huntsman or Huntresses to fulfil all our dreams."
"Blake wishes to bring equality to our people and stop the rampion corruption in our society." Blake then nodded.
"Weiss seeks to change the path of her company's future from her father." Weiss nods as well.
"And Yang, you become a Huntress for the thrill of fighting and adventure." Yang also nods.
"In short, you all have romanticized the idea of becoming Huntresses in your heads, I'm not saying that it is bad but… The moment we all chose to become Huntsman or Huntresses, we all have a duty to protect the weak and helpless against the darkness that seeks to devour us all." Jade just smiled as all of them were now digesting what Jade had said.
"That's… Quite wise words from you Jade. Are you sure you are not older than you look?" Weiss mumbled as Jade just chuckled.
"Yea, I had to grow up faster than anyone here, so I have to also wise up faster, for better or worse. But no, I'm not older than I look, I'm the same age as you guys." (Physically at least, soul wise... that's another question)
"Jade's right, we all chose this path and we all have to stick to it. Our dreams and wishes come second to protecting people." Blake was next to speak as the mood of the team gets higher.
"Yes, it is a job in which all of us agree to do, whether we are aware or not." Weiss spoke again.
"Well, I hope this talk puts down your worries because I'm tired…" Jade yawned as Blake rubbed his shoulder.
"Yea it did Jade, Thank you, for being with us from the start." Blake muttered as the others agreed.
Much later…
Yang has taken up watch for a while and it was Weiss' turn only to notice that Ruby is missing.
"Hey Weiss, it's your... Ruby? Hey, where's Ruby?"
"What?" Oobleck said as he woke up.
It was then that Zwei came running into the room, barking which woke Jade up.
"Zwei?" Yang asked.
"Why is that dog barking again?" Jade moaned as he and Blake got up.
"What's going on?" Blake asked.
"Grab your weapons! Your leader may be in trouble." Oobleck yelled as everyone grabbed their weapons.
"Guys, it looks like our leader needs our help again, let's go rescue her!" Jade energetically said as he holstered his guns and all of them followed Zwei the corgi to where Ruby had fallen down, it was then in which Yang spotted Crescent Rose next to the hole.
"Ruby's scythe!" Yang pointed out.
"Oh no." Blake said.
"Not good… Ruby sucks in hand-to-hand combat…" Jade muttered in worry.
"Do you think she fell?" Weiss asked
"Fell?" Oobleck asked, as for some reason he was looking up. (Don't know wtf was he doing looking up at.)
"Down there." Weiss pointed out.
Oobleck then looks down at the hole and lets out a yell. "Oh my. Of course! Of course, OF COURSE, OF COURSE!"
"What is it?" Blake asked.
"Forget something Doctor? Ow..." Jade snarked only to get elbowed by Blake in the arm.
"How could I be so stupid?!" Oobleck continued yelling.
"Yep… definitely forgetting something all right." Jade muttered as he rubbed his ears from all of Doctor Oobleck's yelling.
"Dr Oobleck, what's wrong?" Yang asked with a worried look on her face.
"Mountain Glenn! Yes, an expansion of Vale that was inevitably destroyed by creatures of Grimm! Previously home to thousands of people! Working people commuting to the city, the main city! Developed a subway system to the inner city! Grimm attacks increased! Population in danger, now desperately searching for shelter! City evacuates into the metro tunnels and what do they find? The southeast quadrant of Vale is known for wild forests and deep caves!"
"Doc, what are you saying?" Yang asked as she had no idea what the doctor was rambling about.
"My dear, we're not just looking for an underground crime network, we're looking for an UNDERGROUND crime network!"
"They've been working in caves?" Blake then asked
"No, no, Mountain Glenn was Vale's first serious attempt at expansion. It worked for a short period of time, thanks to an aggressive perimeter defence, and unique transportation; the city developed an elaborate subway system to carry citizens safely from the new territory into the main Kingdom! Sadly, without the many natural barriers Vale had to protect its borders, Mountain Glenn was doomed from the start! As the end drew near, the citizens of the territory made one last attempt at survival: They took up shelter beneath the city! In massive caves that they had cleared out for the subway. And they had cut themselves off from the surface!"
"An underground village?"
"Ehh… Close enough." Jade muttered.
"In a manner of speaking, yes. A safe haven. Until... an explosion opened the mouth of another cavern, filled with subterranean Grimm. After that, the Kingdom officially sealed off the tunnels, creating the world's largest tomb. If Ruby is down there, we must find her…"
All of them rush to find an opening in which to get into the undergrounds, it was then in which all of them began to push into the underground facility, Jade did not bother to use his guns he punched and kicked them to knock them out (He got better in unarmed combat thanks to Yang in the way), it was then in which the team punched through the defences and find Ruby with a White Fang lieutenant.
"Everyone! Kill them all!" the lieutenant yells as he makes his way towards the train.
"Ruby!" Yang yells as Ruby jumps into her arms for a hug.
"Are you okay?" Weiss asked.
"I'm fine, I'm fine! But listen! They got all kinds of weapons and robots down there." Ruby said.
"What?!" Blake yells as she passes Ruby her weapon.
"Androids, mechs, they're all loaded up on the train cars!" Ruby explained.
"Ahhhh, that's ridiculous. These tunnels are sealed, the tracks lead to a dead-end."
"Wait, where is Jade?" Blake pointed out when she noticed that Jade was not with them.
"Get to your places, we are leaving now!" One of the White Fang grunts yelled out as all of them boarded the train. Jade could also be seen rushing abroad while dealing with the grunts that get in his way.
At the same time, the train began moving towards the tunnels.
"Jade!" All of them yelled as they all chased after Jade who was in the train carriages.
"I will call for backup! Let's go!" Ruby yelled as all of them including Zwei and Oobleck boarded the train.
Jade could be seen on the train roofs as he dodged and knocked out all the White Fang that tried to stop him from reaching the front of the train, at the same time, Raphael was directing him to the front of the trains and telling him to not stop lest a disaster will happen as all the carriages are filled with dust bombs. It then continued to make its way towards the control panels of the train while also knocking out the only White Fang driver in the control room.
"Ok… now what?" Jade asked Raphael who manifested beside him.
"I don't know, find the brake system and shut the engines down, just be quick about it." Raphael told Jade as he too began looking through the control panel of the train.
It was then Jade saw a red button that has a label underneath it that says, emergency stop. Jade slammed his fist over the button, in an instant the whole train jerked in an attempt to stop which unintentionally helped team RWBY (Plus Zwei and Oobleck.) and also caused him to slam his face into the window in front of him. Ouch...
"Whoa!" Ruby Yelled as all the carriages all began to slam into each other.
"What the hell is going on!" Yang yelled as she fell on her butt as the carriage the team was on collided with the carriage in front of them.
"Jade?" Blake could only call out.
"Hang On!" Weiss yelled as she tried to stay on her footing."
"It appears that Mr. Grayson had done it! Come girls, deal with the rest of the White Fang and Grimm, then we can call for backup to disable the bombs!" Oobleck said to the girls as all nodded and continued their fight against the Grimm and the Fang.
"Ow… mah face…" Jade groaned as he got his face off the window as the train began to slow down.
"Good, you now need to go help your team, they would need your help with the Fang and Grimm coming in."
"Grimm?" Jade could only mutter as he rubbed his cheek.
"Yea, Grimm. The idea was to use the train to blast open a hole onto Vale to allow the Grimm into the kingdom. Still surprised that the bombs in the carriages did not detonate when it crashed, go on, your team and Blake need ya." Raphael disappears after saying his part as Jade groaned and left the control room only to see train carriages all over the tunnels.
"Wow… That happened…" Jade just stared at the crash he had made as gunshots can be heard a distance away.
Jade then ran towards the noise of gunfire while encountering Beowolfs, Ursa, and Creeps, however, they are facing the wrong Huntsman, and all fall like dust in the wind. Jade slices a Beowolf in half before kicking another in the jaw and sending a round through its head, Jade then ducks as an Ursa tries to slash him with its claws only for it to take a blade to the eye and then followed by it losing its head. Jade then jumped off it and plunged his blades into a creep and used his semblance to pierce all the Grimm within reach in the head, killing all of them instantly. After that ordeal was done, a familiar voice can be heard.
"Jade! You're alright!" Ruby called Jade as all of them regrouped.
"Guys! You survived the cras- oof!" Jade was interrupted when Blake rushed and gave him a tight hug.
"Don't just run off like that again! Don't you know I worried I was!" She yelled as she refused to let go and buried her face into his chest.
Jade just hugged her and head patted her. "Look… I'm sorry I ran off like that but… I need to reach the Control room of the train to stop it."
"Excuse me but we are still here you know?" Weiss called out as the feline couple split off from their hug as Oobleck had just arrived.
"Ah! There you are, Mr. Grayson! I was wondering what had happened to you when you stopped the train."
"Yea, ran into a lot of White Fang members just to reach it. I am so sorry I just ran off like that, I promise I won't do it in the future." Jade bowed his head as Oobleck just laughed it off.
"There's no need to apologize, Mr. Grayson, if you did not do that, we would have a breach on our hands in the middle of Vale. Be proud of yourself that you all managed to stop a crisis from happening." Oobleck told the team as they smiled.
"We should go now and inform Ozpin what has happened here, but what happens should the seal break?" Blake spoke.
"Ozpin will know what to do with it!" Ruby says with confidence. "After all, we stopped the White Fang from attacking the city with an army of Grimm!" She cheers excitedly as Zwei barks from out of nowhere which causes Jade to jump in fright, then everyone laughs at Jade except Blake who tried her best to not laugh at her boyfriend.
Much later…
After that incident, team RWBY plus Jade, Zwei, and Oobleck all left the tunnels in which they called Ozpin for some back up to help deal with the train wreckage and inform him of what had happened. Ozpin then sent a Bullhead to pick them up as Oobleck stayed behind to make sure that nothing went wrong and that the White Fang prisoners didn't run away.
While on the Bullhead back to Beacon, Weiss decides to say something,
"If we don't get extra credit for that, I'm gonna be seriously disappointed."
"Well things did not go smoothly but… eh extra credit does sound nice…" Jade said while he and Blake were leaning on each other as Blake was resting on his shoulder as her ears twitched.
"So… what now?" Ruby then asked.
"I suggest training for the tournament, but I guess we have that covered at this point."
How about some fried rice with meat and vegetables for dinner? It does call for a celebration right?"
"I agree Jady, some of your food after a long day of hard work stopping terrorists does sound good." Yang then spoke.
"Then after that is time for bed." Ruby then finished off as all of them fell asleep on the way back to Beacon.
Author's Notes
And there's that, First of all, I would like to apologize for this chapter being slightly later compared to my usual upload schedule of every two to three days. But I am done apologizing. I would probably do an omake or a wholesome chapter before we move on to Vol 3… things are going to get… uh messy?
First of all, we got the summarized thoughts of Jade and Raphael discussing future knowledge becoming less accurate. Let's be honest this is just a case of the butterfly effect in action; besides, the story will only begin to drift away from canon as time continues to pass by.
Next, we have Blake's internal thoughts on how Jade is reacting overall, Blake is Jade's girlfriend, she would definitely notice if something is wrong with Jade, as Blake's thoughts had told us, she would definitely ask Jade about why he is so restless. It won't be long till Jade will be forced to reveal Raphael's presents or till a certain event happens that changes its course. Only time will tell in the future.
Then we got the part in which Jade shot at the Beowolf pack approaching them as his team just sat there, I don't really understand why they just sat there and planned as the Grimm came after them, so I made Jade the one who would eliminate the Beowolf pack before it gets close.
Next is Jade's reason for becoming a Huntsman. As he had stated himself, Jade originally had no drive to become a Huntsman due to Ozpin giving him an offer he cannot reject but after staying with team RWBY and falling in love with Blake, his goals changed as well. So now he fights to protect his friends and his lover as well. I also changed Blake's drive as well, due to her falling in love with Jade and nearly losing him at the dock months ago, She also chooses to become a Huntress not only to use it to end inequality and racism, but also to grow strong enough to protect Jade as well. In a way, this is me showing Blake's faster character development compared to canon where she only begin to develop after the fall which is stupid.
Next is Jade's talk with his other three teammates about their reason, With Jade doing his best to help all of them, this is pretty explanatory, Jade really cares for his team and will do everything he can to help ease their doubts by using himself as an example.
Lastly, We have Jade stopping the train from crashing and starting the breach. With Raphael informing Jade on what's to come (That includes running ahead of his team), Jade would no doubt do everything he can to stop it. As for why he easily defeats any White Fang grunt that gets in his way? Well… last I checked, the White Fang is mostly made up of disgruntled faunus civilians, so they would not have much training. Only the higher ups like lieutenants or Adam in particular have combat training.
Also, reminder to put in the reviews about my ideas for a new story to write, a React fic or a SI in Vol 4 I want to hear all of your thoughts.
Other than that… There is nothing else to talk about so I will end it off here. If you think I miss anything out, feel free to leave a review on what you think about this chapter. I will read and respond back to you any who reviewed me. If you enjoy this work, please like it and follow me. It will inform you whenever I upload a new chapter. That's all for now, RGQC out!
