Chapter 1: Stopping the Offensive or Retaking the First Station
Hello anyone who is reading this, I had bad news about Age of Freedom and that bad news is that I've given up writing a non-geass fanfic of Code Geass. I'd enjoy the anime series and wanting to make something, but in the end I no longer the drive on continuing this interesting fanfic due to my private life. I had tried writing and finishing the chapter, but I keep replaced scenes of what and felt out of touch with the canon material so long. I'm sorry for leading you with false hope that there will be chapters, but I hope that doesn't mean that one of you will carry on this legacy.
Here were the planned events:
I was planning the first Arc to be focused on Lelouch defending his adopted homeland while proving himself worth being Zero.
I was going to introduced Shirley Fenette, who's mother basically kidnapped her father to her homeland, and was serving as a Jaeger Pilot of military defense corps before meeting Lelouch/Zero. Her Jaeger skills would have impressed Lelouch enough to join the Black Knights.
I was also going to introduce Rai, who is best friend/second-in-command to Lelouch during his time of Liberty Battalion. Towards the final battle, he would get heavy injuries that forced him to wear a face mask so he could breathe, but loss his ability to speak. His Jaeger would look like Soundwave from Transformer Prime as both homage and forewarning that he was going to be injured during Arias liberation. His helmet would also reflect Soundwave of that particular series since the helmet has him speak, hack into systems, and record people's conversations.
I was going to introduce the Britannian Special Honorary Foreign Legion led by Madd as the villains trying to conquer the three island nations as they bear no geass as what was their power was actually part of their Knightmare frames for being experimental.
The different between Jaegers and Knightmare frames are the following: Jaegers are taller with the cockpit being where the head should be and lacking landspinners since the three island nations have solved that problem long before being repurposed for war. Knightmare frame's armor is weaker than Jaeger's armor and carries less weaponry in favor of speed. 8th generation Jaegers would have Vtol system as it would help them hover a bit before the 9th generation would have flight capabilities (which would take place either 1st canon season or 2nd season).
Arias' military would have Star Wars Grand Army of the Republic vehicles due to introducing our fan-favorite Clones into the story-line with the island Empire would have Halo Spartans and CIS Battle Droids. Gabriel military would have Halo vehicles. Among other vehicles of your own designs.
The Second Arc would have been the aftermath of the island nations as the Britannian invasion puts an end to tension and hostilities among each other and focuses on defeating the Empire. It would also to gear up the Black Knights making preparations on how to liberate Japan as the island nations are closer to that than Hawaii and building forces while the Island nations rebuild their defenses and ready for war.
Well, to the lucky one sets on adopting this series as their own take... I wish you luck and PM me if you have any questions regarding the story in any manner. As for the rest of you, I just don't care for your hate comments and sorry for everything.
(Date: March 12, 85 A.S Location: Black Knight Hangar in Hope)
A few days after the battle of Io, members of the liberty battalion were ordered to report to the Black Knight HQ for reassignment by the order of Queen Nunnally. No one is blind enough to see a battalion is assimilating into the Order of the Black Knights. It is the greatest order for the soldiers of Arais to join the Order of the Black Knights since they represent the best of the military. Guess the whole battalion under the command of Lelouch Lamperouge are noticed for their actions at Io despite the loss of the Queen.
However, the same couldn't be said for the Black Knights. Well, the ones that fought in the Battle of Io as many within Liberty, including lieutenant Thomas Rex and Commander Carlos Tyler, notice the dark looks from most Black Knights upon gazing at them. Even one of them holding a cup of coffee splashes it in front of them as a sign of disrespect to Lelouch's men. To Rex and Tyler, they couldn't blame them because orders of their General on that fateful day were to get their people to safety. It was more common now that it was britiannians' proposed engagements in battles dangerously close to the three island nations' cities and towns as Liberty handles taking their people out of here.
Eventually, they found themselves in the hangar after being guided there and they were amazed by what they found there. The hangar of the Black Knights HQ is bigger than the average hangar. The average hangar for Jaegers have a carrying capacity of 45 Jaegers to be deployed, built, or repaired while the bases that hold "average weaponized vehicles" capacity are often 60 to 85. Add to the fact that most of the Jaegers hungars are built underground or built near cities while some are lucky to be built in urban environments or mountains. The hangar in question was semi built from surface to subground as they saw numbers of Jaegers surpassing their Jaegers including vehicles such as tanks or even war planes as they were transporting to the nearest air base.
As they walk to their destination, they realize that the Black Knight HQ's hangar is more than just storing Jaegers or vehicles, but also training the BKs of handling enemy Jaegers, battle tactic training for some skilled rookies, and weapon development/testing for Jaegers.
Upon arriving, members of the Liberty Battalion are greeted by the sight of the more veternalized Bks, whom their black-colored gear are more individualized, seems to be gathering around podium with Bk guards, who can be identified with their red marking scheme, makes a perimeter circle between the Bk soldiers and the stand. The Liberty troops took their place alongside the veternal BKs which appears to be the one of the few that doesn't have any against them.
Before they could talk to them or introduce themselves, the door which is behind the stand opens; gathering the attention of the gathered. The matter was serious as they organized themselves in rows once they saw two figures walking by the door and taking their positions on the side of the door they had arrived at. These figures don't wear the average armor colorized with white and random color scheme nor the more red color scheme of the Araisian defense corps, but wearing all-blue colored armor with helmets makes them look like futuristic roman empire's legionnaires as their wield stun-blasters.
"The Royal Guard here!? What are they doing here?!" Lieutenant Rex said before the third figure emerges with two more of the Royal Guard following behind. They immediately recognize the mask/helmet to cover his face and the cape covering the rest of his body as their fearless and noble patriotic symbol of Arias, Zero. Well, the next Zero that is since it's common knowledge that if a Zero dies, another one shall take his/her place as the new Zero chosen by the Queen of Arias no matter if one notices the changes done to the armor or not.
It is an honor of the highest order to become the symbol, but also the greatest burden as Zero must be the best of the best as the troops under their command must know that the next Zero is worthy of leading them so to speak. After all, it's natural to doubt a new higher-up since they used to follow orders with the presuccessor within the Black Knights.
Nevertheless, Lelouch approaches to the center of the stage as all eyes in the gathering, even those who were working nearby, set upon him. Even without his mask, he looked calm and collected as his body was perfectly still on the outside, yet he could feel sweat, his knees weakened, and his hands open and closed as his mouth struggled to utter the words he wanted to say.
Despites leading troops into battle, Lelouch never really uttered a speech to his brave men and women of the Liberty Battalion. True, he had spoken outside the realm of ordering them, but he was talking to them individually or related to the subject at hand. Even his time to become a bodyguard under the new Queen in strict training by his father doesn't cut into the charisma business. Now that he is Zero and his adopted homeland is threatened by his own people, he is going to given a speech that not only to be heard by his battalion or the BKs, but the other Battalions fighting to keep the enemy from completely conquering the people and the citizens to avoid a panic or to ensure that Arias will still be standing. Pretty much, the entire "Hidden World" will listen to his first speech!
Unaware to the BKs and Liberty Battalion, a squad of Royal Guards, under the commands of Queen Nunnally, have reestablished an old communication frequency somewhere in the Black Knight's HeadQuarters; it was the very same frequency used in 1987 by Zodanga Empire's head of government asking for a ceasefire on radio waves throughout the three island nations to prevent another defeat on October 29. Once the nicknamed "Flashpoint" reactivated, it immediately reconnects to everywhere within the island's empire, democrazy, and the monarchy in various forms of communication as the Royal Guard inputted the speaker position as the signal awaited the words of Zero.
True to Zero's word, the signal has been sent to all of Arias regardless of radio, tv programs, and even the phones of the citizens. Whether living in a city or town, the older generation remembers the signal all too well as they hope that the news the speaker shall bring is hope like the day of the Civil Wars were brought to the end. They stop the younger generation from interrupting the signal as young ones thought of it as something to fix.
The soldiers, the pilots, those within submarines and the First Fleet, which serves as defensive line on the Capital's harbor, heard their comms switch the channels to adjust for the signal as they awaited who was going to speak because they knew the very channel that created a ceasefire between the three islands. Even those in the frontlines also heard their comms as they fought to push the Britianians back.
However, the signal has also connected itself to cities, towns, and military bases under the control of the invaders. For the enemy, whether they be soldier, scientist, or engineer, don't know about the signal that overtaken some of the equipment they have stolen during the invasion, for the savages of the island have proved themselves more advanced than their empire and sought to rectify it once the lands became Area 14. Once they saw the signal on the equipment, many of them try to no avail of fixing the assumed problem, except for one who sits in a stolen office as he recently ordered a strike.
This britiannian is a large dark-skinned, bald man wearing goggles as he bears the britannian rank of colonel. On a closer look, one can notice that his goggles twitched around as well as metal plates around his head. This man knows that this isn't a problem for he have study much about these Ariasian and Zodanga as it have frustrated to no end that the best engineers in his legion couldn't unlock the captured 'knightmares' that the enemy have created nor tell how it works despites their efforts of making these knightmares to serve the Empire. The scientists he has brought into the supposed land of barbarians who remain stagnant into a time merged between the time of 1700s and pre-ATB/early ATB. Even more so that the prisoners refuse to share their knowledge and rather face death to avoid their tech serving the Empire. For now, he shall listen to what this broadcast is about as he awaits success from his underlings.
Not just the entire island of Arias have the "Flashpoint" signal dominated the comms, airwaves, and channels as it moved beyond the main island to the democracy of the Gabrielites and the britannian-controlled Zodanga.
Within the Capital City of Meghlodar, a tanned man, seemingly in his 30s, with his black hair slicked back all the way and brown eyes that screams strength. For further evidence, his body is so muscular that it threatened to destroy his black tuxedo at the sudden burst of flexing. A room full of the finest furniture and decoration makes this man important to their democracy as he listens to the signal from a personal device for he wonders who shall be the speaker in the programs. As President of their democracy, Gazel must do everything he can to prevent these invaders from conquering his home in an event they finished off the Ariasians, even if it calls for an alliance between the oldest of enemies. Somewhere on the ruin city of Uzudh, a man clad in black armor with a helmet with an orange visor was cooperating with the resistance against the britannian oppressors that destroys their glorious empire with nothing but a memory. At least until one of the empire's special forces turned rebel stops when the "flashpoint" signal takes out their radio as his rebels and their people who escape the invaders' grip gathered around their radios as they listens in since they are in short-supply needed of moral boost because they have took the bulk of the Britannian fleet.
It was a moment of silence for Lelouch knew that whoever was in charge of this Britannia fleet understood the language of English that his speech had some elements that held sway over victory or defeat of either side. The best way to solve his little problem with his speech…
"(To those gathered here and to those listening to this, I am not the very Zero who have fought against the britannians at the beginning of this unwarranted act of war, but I have become his successor nevertheless)," Lelouch opens his speech in a dialect that can not be translated by the enemy and the same dialect that children are taught in order of understanding the ancient lore of their homelands.
The Black Knights and Lelouch's battalion were surprised that basically the homeland is listening in his speech and in a language that exists long before the First Zero.
"(To all who questions of why we haven't done something… anything of preventing this…)" Zero said as he figures that the people have the right to know the reason on their view of this sudden war dawn, "(For what seems to be an eternal, Our Constitutional Monarchy have butted heads with the Gabrielides' Commonwealth and the Zodangan Empire from the very beginning to the last war we have faced. The Treaty may have benefited us decades of peace, but it was one that easily shattered as each of us were prepared to wage war with one and the other again as we were blinded to the events outside of our lands. When word reaches out that Zodangan's military were once more mobilizing as we believe for invasion on the nearest land which is located at the Northwest section of Arias. As a result of that action, the eyes that watch our horizons from outside threats have turned their gazes to each other leaving a blind eye to the outside of the barrier.)"
"(Ever since the fall of Japan, we strongly believe that the Britannian Empire has no reason to conquer our homes because we fooled the world that we are the one of the few nations that are still developing. However, we have underestimate the Empire's greed for resources and the need to become the only superpower as they launched a fleet and attack us while we were sharpening our fangs to bite each other throats,)" Zero declared as he walks left to right of the stage as he looks at each of the gathered, "(As a result, the Empire, whom constantly raided our lands for resources and to dismantle the Commonwealth and the Kingdom since we've first constructed warships, have fallen in a sort of poetic justice. The Gabrielites, whom been our ally and enemy in the wars of our past, are a strong people for they have forced this enemy from wasting their lives with little gains of their lands.)"
Zero paused before looking away from the gathered eyes as he adopted a posture that might have showcased depression in the eyes of the soldiers, "(In our case, our suffering as a culture and a people began when the enemy shut down our greatest defensive asset: the Cerberus System. We were mostly dependent on the system that prevented city-wide hostile takeover. That loss of itself had cripple ourselves as we have before us an ordeal of two evils: whether we know them continuing attacks while we reorganize the defense or we pass on the attack and risk losing our culture, our homes, and people.)"
Then Zero switched his tune from being regrettable to determined, "(Starting today, it is time for us to wage war by sea, land and air with all our strength against a monstrous tyranny that the world outside of our dome has produced so far. In this war against these modern barbarians, our aim is simple in one word; Victory! At all costs, we must strive for victory regardless of whatever the Britiannians throw at us. Because if we can't earn a victory out of this, then our history, traditional, and nation won't survive under the heels of these self-proclaimed master race!)"
On the outskirts of Ossenore, it was a graveyard of Britiannian's nightmares and Ariasian's jaegers with both their main battle tanks and its Defensor variant. It was another costly battle for both the Britiannians and Ariasian Defense Corps since the mentioned vehicles are more outdated compared to the Ariasian militarized jaegers. However, the battle for Ossenore weighed in Ariasian victory when the 212th Battalion, who are identified by their yellowish-orange markings of their body armor, used the city evacuation to their advantage to mask their approach.
Currently the 212th are cooperating with the present Defense Corps in tightening the city of Ossenore's defenses. A portion are making sure that the remaining people are in safe zones while other portions are getting the automation system back online as best as they can. A significant number of the 212th are currently savaging both their tech and their enemy's: what can be fixed or materials for replacement parts as well as those belonging to the enemy that has some functional value to Arias. Protecting them from any further attacks are patrols consisting of the Ariasian main battle tank, the All Terrain-Tactical Enforcer or AT-TE for short, with its Defensor variants and jaegers.
The Defensor version of the AT-TEs may look similar to the military counterpart, but they are less dangerous of the two as means of retiring the tanks from military service and into the law enforcement or the Defense Corps. They can be identified by their red color scheme as it was built with less armor plating and weaponry since it's only weapon is the turret cannon which the gunner must expose themselves to the elements or enemy fire as it discharges energy projectiles that stunned organics and short-circuits mechanical objects.
Lucky the 212th were out of combat when the "Flashpoint" signal overtook their communication for the military and the defense corps to have an inspirational speech coming from the champion himself, Zero, to fight with renewed determination.
"(Now, We are the masters of our fate!)" These words alone were enough for the Jaeger pilots to shut down their mechs for hearing Zero, "(That the task which has been set for us is not above our strength and our endurance of keeping our homeland free of any influence except our own.)"
Upon hearing that, many of the 212 and the present Defense Corp silently agreed with Zero as they became heavily motivated on their station on Ossenore while the young bloods were more vocally on their agreement.
"(As long as we believe in our cause and an unconquerable willpower… Liberty will not be denied us. Let ourselves, therefore, brace ourselves to our duties and so bear ourselves that if the Ariasian Kingdom and its Commonwealth last until now, our children and their children's children will still say 'This was their finest hour!')"
That statement had gained the attention of General Cody Riker, the pilot of Gladiator Blitz, a Mark 8 Jaeger that was painted in the colors of the 212th. Gladiator Blitz is more taller than the rest of 212th jaegers and more slender in terms of body and weight within the arms and legs would allow this particular unit's reaction time and speed to be 1.5x more faster than the average 212th jaegers and likely to be the first to make the move before anyone else.
"(Never in the field of Our conflict was so much owed by so many to so few!)" Cody raised an eyebrow at the wording for a moment, but quickly disregarded it in order for ordering his squad doing their rounds.
"(We shall fight in Argentino…)"
A patrol consists of a tank and a few soldiers venturing into an abandoned section of the old Ariasian capital. The patrol have been sent to search for any Ariasian hiding in the section due to resistance attempting to undermine the Britannian efforts of creating a new area.
Unknown to them, there was activity in three buildings several blocks ahead of the patrol as people were making as little noises as possible as they were checking their equipment before the enemy patrol was at the right spot. On the roofs, individuals lie on their bellies to avoid detection as they have their eyes glued on the tank. Their hands held tools like hammers and they began to signal the others as they tapped the old pipes to carry their message to the ambushers.
"(We shall fight on the seas and oceans…)"
A particular spot that is located five miles south of Zodanga, a lonely Britannian Destroyer is currently firing rapidly seemingly anywhere within its firing range in the waters. That and the fact that steering left and right in complete circles are the signs of the ship's crew and captain are doing anything in their power to avoid the fate of the other two destroyer it travel as drowned bodies and pieces of their ships still burning creating a field of smoke and fire to blinded the gunners.
The cause of this form of panicking is underwater and in the form of a submarine pack; three Scorpius-classed attack submarines and a stealth submarine. Unlike most submarines of the known world, Scorpius are designed to be narrow in order to be nimble and manevable as there are a total of three pairs of hydropanes; two located at the bottom while the last pair positioned on the top. The two pairs of the hydropanes appear to be flexible as fins of aquatic animals while the top pair seems to be made for a different purpose because they are stationary and in a 45 degree angle. The tower is actually built on the rear as there are three pairs of dual-turreted cannons on the front top as they were built as means of shooting down aircrafts.
Unlike the submarines outside of the three island-nations, the Scorpius needed about 80 people to operate properly as computer systems filled in the smaller crew. In the case of the stealth submarine, it's crew size is about 2/8 of a Scorpius crew because the stealth submarine must be smaller otherwise be suspect to enemy fire. These stealth submarines don't have any weapons as they heavily rely on engine power to outrun depth charge or torpedo and the very system that covered the entire island-nations was hidden from the rest of the world.
That particular stealth submarine is currently out of radar to avoid detection and out of torpedo range as it stays out of the crossfire yet remains close to keeping the Scorpius trio hidden from their eyes. The Scorpius circled around the destroyer like sharks smelling the blood in the water as each of the three turned turns of sending torpedoes for every miss of the others.
"(We shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air…)"
The sky over a mountain was filled with the sound of explosions as military aircrafts of both the Ariasian and Britiannian air forces. It turns out that the sky over Arias is the place where the enemy had failed to occupy despites the Britiannians still having the very same models of fighter jets that wiped out the Japanese air force. Out of 13 britannian squadrons, about 4 of these squadrons are all that's left and the 4th squadron is in the process of being wiped out.
They are being blasted out of the sky by a mixture of the slowly aging "Compys" and the long-range experimental patrol craft, Arc-170. The nicknamed Compys looks similar to the Britiannian Jet FIghters, but they are equipped with twin fusion drives that allows more maneuverability and outpace the Britiannian in this case. Compys actually and ultimately depended on two underwing rapid-fire blasters since they are proven to be more deadlier than missiles.
This battle was initiated as a means of relieving Britiannian forces at the mountain station from artillery fire. At first, the two battalions that bullying the stranded Britannians were suffering losses from bombing runs. However, the tides were turned when the first seven Arc-170s engaged the enemy as they stalled them till two squadrons of Compys arrived.
A lone jet fighter was about to break off the attack and retreated to Britiannian-occupied air base. When suddenly, it bursts into flying pieces of flames as it falls down to the world below by an Arc-170 acting like a bird of prey. Out of that, only one Arc-170 and three to four Compys were lost in the dogfight, but that strained victory had opened the mountain station more likely to be reclaimed.
"(We shall defend our island, helping the Gabrielites with theirs, and liberate Zodanga, whatever the cost may be…)"
By now, nearly every Black Knight present is gathered around to listen to the words of their supreme commander as they were in the combination of awed, flabbergasted, and encouraged. Like any other citizen of Arias, they were flabbergasted because this Zero had proposed something that was completely unorthodox.
It was no secret that the three island-nations have been against each other since the creation of Arias and reasons ranging from wars to differences of ideologies ensure the prevention of a stable alliance centuries ago, give or take a thousand. In fact, the statement had reached a certain feeling among the three cultures; a strike of pride towards Democracy, insults toward the resistance of a vanished empire, and uncertainty in accounts of the Araisians outside Black Knights HQ.
"(I already know that there are many who believe that to be impossible… to be dreams of a fool but times are changing now. And we must change our views on each other to preserve as an alliance or we will collapse alone.)"
"(We shall fight on the beaches, We shall fight on the landing grounds, We shall fight in the fields…)"
