Happy New Years!

I know many expected a new update from my current stories, don't worry, those are coming. But after seeing Avatar: The way of Water and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (And loving both), this idea wouldn't leave me alone.

I don't know if I'll make this a many chapter project yet. For now, it's just for fun.

I hope you guys enjoy it.,

Have a wonderful celebration with your families.

Cheers!

Rare were the days when sleep didn't come for him.

When the effects of daily chores didn't ease his journey to a dream's embrace as his body rested at last.

Many of his people understood why that would come to happen. He was their leader, their Olo'eyktan. Heavy was the mind of one who had to look after countless others. Who could change their way of life with a single command.

It was a burden as it was a responsibility.

Others, however, said he shouldn't let those thoughts consume him. That for years under his rule, he hadn't led them astray. Not even once. And he showed no signs that he would start now.

One who spoke such the most laid beside him, sound asleep.

Tonowari stared with soft eyes at Ronal. His mate, the clan's Tsahik. Her long wavy hair covered part of her face. A result of her constant motions on their mat. He held the temptation of moving it away but didn't wanna risk waking her.,

Just as Tonowari always asked the great mother Eywa for guidance in leading his clan. He always thanked her for bringing Ronal into his life. And for blessing both with their two children.

Tonowari turned his gaze toward them on the other side of their hut. In their separate mats, Ao'nung and Tsireya shared their mother's state, lost in their dreams, minds at peace until the sun would rise again.

His family was perhaps the only thing that rivaled the importance of the clan as a whole. He would fight to the death to keep them from harm. But the three of them? He would face the world. Alone if he had to.,

Maybe that's why he was so restless today. The tales from beyond the sea haunted him again.

Years ago, their brethren from the jungles, the Omaticaya, led by the mighty Toruk'Makto, Jake Sully, marched into a great battle against the sky people. Their victory marked the end of the demons' hold on their land. With their ships traveling to the stars, carrying all back home.,

It was an event celebrated by all clans, finally free of the fear of being targeted next by the invaders.

Oh, how Tonowari wished it was like that still.

The news spread quickly, coming from Toruk himself across the winds.

With blazing infernos and in more numbers than ever., The sky people had returned.

Unrest contaminated each of the Na'vi. The age of peace was over, and a new war could be on the horizon.

Tonowari made himself an example. He held his head high, showing courage to his people and children. So that they could keep going on with their lives naturally. But to always be ready should the demons come to their shores.,

It had a positive effect. Yet, the clan leader often noticed some who held their gazes north for a prolonged period during the day.

The fear lingered underneath like a silent killer.

Tonowari wished he could take it away. He truthfully did. But that wasn't in his hands. Giving them comfort and a sense of safety would have to do for now.

Signing silently, he got up from the mat and slowly walking out of the hut, not bothering to put on his Olo'eyktan garments. To not disturb his family and giving them one last glance before leaving. He, however, took a sharp dagger, putting it on his chest sheath.,

It was well deep into the night by now. Only the sea provided sound and light in the village. Most of the people were asleep, save for a few selected watchers. They saluted him, and so did him in return. From a distance or when their paths crossed.,

Tonowari wandered, taking in the calming scent of the breeze and sand until he reached a lone pier.

On the right were saddles, reins, and other accessories used on their mounts, all hanging from a wooden board. But Tonowari had no use for them now.

Instead, he took a couple more steps and sat at one of the edges, feet going into the water.

And so, for a time, he stayed there, staring at all and nothing at the same time. Lost in a new sea of his own thoughts.,

The watchers going over the area moved to other sections to give their leader privacy. He was a fierce warrior. But should danger arrive, they would be there in no time to aid him.

He had a different kind of company, however.

Tonowari's ear flicked at the low sound of the water moving. Amidst the bio luminance from the sea, he saw a pair of bright orange wings opening and closing, heading his way.

A grin made its way on Tonowari's face as his loyal Tsurak raised its head above the water to greet him.

The creature was of intense nature. Its appearance matches it. A long maw filled with razor sharp teeth, the cold eyes of a killer, and long wings allowing it to rise over the water and fly.,

But like with other creatures from the sea, even more so the Tulkuns, the Metkayina clan came to see them close to kin.

Showing their bond, the Tsurak got closer to Tonowari, its fins shaking the water, communicating.

The Na'vi appreciated the gesture, running his hand over the Tsurak's cuirass.

"All is well, Sabo," Tonowari said in a whisper. "I'm just thinking,"

Sabo's fins shook again, asking.

About ?

Tonowari huffed. "Everything, seems like it,"

Now Sabo let out a serpent like sound in his breath.

"Don't worry," Tonowari put it to him with a tap. "Sometimes I...I felt like I need this, just for a while, for my own sake,"

Sabo didn't give any reply, simply turning over as he and Tonowari stayed in comfortable silence under the moon light.

The peace didn't last very long.

Tonowari frowned, seeing Sabo become agitated, hissing at something ahead. Something out of the clan leader's sight. Before he could do anything, Sabo speared to the side, disappearing as if he was scared.

"Sabo ?!" Tonowari got up fast. His hand grasped the dagger's handle. The grasp tightened when from his point of view, he saw other Tsuraks doing the same as his mount. It wasn't just them. A group of Ilus also fled from the area in a hurry, seemingly from the same thing. Worst yet, part of the lights beneath the water lost some of their glow.

With the dagger now out, Tonowari looked everywhere as he tried to make sense of what was happening.

He's alone. From a sense of the word. Until he sees it.,

Tonowari jumps back, bringing his weapon to the front.

He came from the depths without a sound. One moment, he was not there, and the next, he was.

It all but a moment for Tonowari's apprehension to turn into wide-eyed confusion.

This...It couldn't be.

What stood in front of him wasn't Na'vi or another creature. It was a man. A man from the sky-people!

He was no bigger than those Tonowari had ever seen. His skin was like casted wood from the jungles. He only covered himself in a large green loincloth, showing a powerful physique. He held a spear in hand, green colored and made of metal he couldn't recognize.

What really caught Tonowari's eyes at first was the headdress he wore. A feathered creature's head, also made of metal, this one bright as the sun. The same metal was in his forearms and shoulders like armor. A large red cape followed behind him.

The second almost made the chieftain drop his dagger.

The stranger was flying!

In the man's ankles were, and there was no doubt about it, wings! Silver threaded and strongly beating as he floated in the air.,

There were reports of the sky-people's machines that could do amazing and terrible actions. But never once was It mentioned that they could fly without them. Much less breath on the planet without their masks as they called.

That begged the question. Who, or what was this ?

Tonowari was so distracted by his musings, that he almost didn't notice as the stranger alighted upon the pier. There was a fair distance between them when he landed on solid ground.

A stare off began as both stood motionlessly. The stranger had to crane his neck up totally to look at Tonowari. Their height difference is almost humorous.

When the silence became too much, his questions too important to ignore, and the stranger remained still as a rock, the Na'vi decided to make first contact.

Taking a deep breath, and lightly lowering the dagger as a sign of peace, he spoke.

"W-Who are you?" Tonowari had no knowledge of the human mother-tongue, and he cursed himself at that moment.

The stranger tilted his head to the side, eyes narrowing as If he tried to process the question.

When he answered, Tonowari frowned further. He spoke a strange language, sure, but its delivery and accent was more akin to Na'vi than he expected It to be. If only he knew other sky people to make a comparison.

There was only one part Tonowari could perhaps understand. The last word the stranger said.

His name.

"Aj' K'uk'ulkan"

A/N: There It is.

The way Namor was adapted really left an impression on me. I loved how they kept the core of the character while giving him and talokan a new rich mythology.

And seeing the water tribe in Avatar, right way a saw compatibility between them. Thus this was born.

Again, not sure If there will be more. As i am focused on arcane and planning to return to an old story.

Still pretty glad i managed to put this one out.

See you guys around.

Stay safe.
