A/N: It's been a minute hasn't it? Long story short I had a major health scare a few months ago (I almost died) and I've been hyper focused on school because this was my final semester. I was told my best option would be to withdraw from the semester but there was no way in hell I was gonna delay my graduation anymore. I finally graduated college. My health issues aren't 100 percent resolved but I'm slowly working on it with my family. Hospital bills are a bitch even with insurance. So this story hasn't been my priority for the last few months but I'm back. I'm hoping to get a couple of good chapters out but no promises, alright? It's good to be back ^_^
Leah POV:
Seth and I sat perched like cats on the cliff side that overlooked the Cullen's vast property. Given the complications to Bella's change she was being kept away on the Rez for her safety.
With perfect clarity I could see cloaked figures making their way up to the Cullen's door. Seth instantly perked up. Even from far away we could hear the conversation that took place. It was as though we were in the house with them.
"Hello, Carlisle," the voice that spoke first was girlish and childlike yet there was something sinister about the tone.
"It's been a quite a while since we last saw each other, Jane."
"A few months."
"Well come in. Make yourselves at home."
"We heard through the Denali's about your sons marriage to his mate," the voice that spoke this time was a bit more raspy.
"It must've been a beautiful ceremony. The Volturi would've loved to make an appearance, especially Aro, but with the company you've been keeping, he didn't think it was appropriate. Aro sends his regards and he also has a gift for the newly weds."
Seth nipped at my hind leg as I felt the urge to snarl at the subtle dig the guard member threw at the pack.
"I'm so sorry but I'm afraid you just missed them. With the change and them still being in the honeymoon phase of their marriage, Bella's in a bit of an amorous mood," there was a slight chuckle to Carlisle's voice. "I suggested they go out traveling to so they can have some privacy. Had I known you would be paying us a visit, I would've had them wait."
Even Seth couldn't help but snicker at the excuse. Sending a newborn vampire out into the world with no one but her husband to look after her.
"Well I'm surprised. She couldn't be more than a few days changed yet you thrust her into the world so soon with so little supervision?"
"Young Bella's control is quite impeccable. The best I've ever witnessed from any newborn vampire. With my son by her side I trust her."
Lying so easily. Must be a breeze when you don't have a tell, Seth thought.
Yeah, well when your existence is on the line you become a pretty good liar.
Edward's scent wasn't strong. He left a few days before Bella had woken up. I guess it irked Seth a little, the way he treated her. The fact that he wasn't there when she needed him most.
I was suddenly reminded of the way I chewed out Bella for using Jacob. I didn't regret it. She needed to hear it.
Finally!
That blonde had detached herself from Bella's side for the first time since Seth and I joined Jake's cause. She ran out to her red convertible after telling Bella she was headed to the hospital to get some supplies from Carlisle.
Code for more blood.
She wouldn't be gone long. These vamps drove like bats outta hell. It's amazing their asses haven't been pulled over for speeding.
Edward couldn't stand to see what the baby was doing to Bella and the fact that she refused to get rid of it. He kept his distance. Jacob was out patrolling with Seth, leaving me to take a break.
That would give me plenty of time to get a few things off my chest.
I could see Bella's form come into view through the Cullen's living room window. They'd bought a bed and pushed all of the furniture up against the perimeter to make room for it, so Bella wouldn't expend energy trying to navigate the Cullen's mansion.
I shoved open the door letting it slam and rebound against the wall as I entered. The force of it caused the door to slam shut behind me as I made my way to the living room.
Through the varying burning scents of the Cullen's I could smell blood.
There were a few empty bags of blood littering the bed Bella sat in as she sucked down another one to sate the little demons thirst.
I could see the name and type on one of the bags that had fell to the floor. Bella watched me closely as I picked it up. She knew I didn't like her. I'd made that pretty clear the day we first met.
"Smith comma Jody," I scoffed aloud. "I wonder if she knows this is what she donated her blood to?"
Bella at the very least had the good sense to look down in shame as she sucked down a bag of "Hugo, Brandon's" blood.
"Ya know, I used to think Emily was the most selfish person I knew, after what she did to me. But after meeting you...you put her to shame."
She continued to look anywhere but at me.
"Look at me when I'm talking to you! You need to hear this shit," my order echoed throughout the living room as her head snapped in my direction.
"I'd heard little things about the crap you used to pull through my dad. You hung around vampires knowing they killed people. Left your father behind and blamed him when you're the one that had a vampire on hunting you down because you chose to associate with the Cullen's. I bet you don't even stop and think about the danger you put Charlie in when you hang around those bloodsuckers, do you? For a moment, I thought I could sympathize with you when that fancy-haired little shit left you for dead in the woods, but I could never do what you did to Jacob. How could you treat him like that?"
Her eyes glistened with tears.
"Answer me, dammit!"
"Jacob understood that I didn't feel that way about him at the time," she snapped.
"I'm not talking about your relationship. I'm talking about the dangerous shit you would drag him into while he was still human. He had come to school one day and told us about how you wanted to try and find this meadow in the woods. The same woods that people were going missing in because of the vampires the Cullen's attracted to the area? You remember now? The same woods that I'm sure your dad told you to stay out of. You were going to drag Jake into the woods to try and find the meadow that sparkly-fucker dragged you to once upon time."
Her eyes widened in recognition.
"Oh and how could I forget you accusing Jacob and the rest of us of killing people? The people we're tasked with protecting? Not that the safety of other humans actually means anything to you, since you're perfectly okay with hanging out around creatures with a body count big enough to fill the towns graveyard."
"Leah please, you don't understand," she sobbed.
"We've put our lives on the line for you. You didn't even thank us for saving your sorry asses from those newborns. If it was up to me, we would've let that army slaughter your asses."
She kept crying. I wouldn't be moved by her blubbering. Everyone around her coddled her time and time again. Enough was enough.
"Stop your crying! If you knew how many times Jacob and Charlie have cried for you, you would know I'm right. You are so selfish. Just a shallow, selfish person. Do you know why Jacob fought so hard to keep your sorry ass alive? It's not just because he loves you and wanted you to choose him. You're his best friend and you want to become one of those things despite the fact that you could possibly kill someone."
She covered her ears and curled herself into a ball.
"Listen to me," I grabbed her wrists and easily yanked them away from her head. "You're going to listen to me."
"Stop. Please. I understand."
"No, I don't think you do. Do you understand what Jacob would have to do if you killed someone as a vampire? He'd have to kill you, his best friend, or stand by and watch as we killed you."
"No the Cullen's wouldn't never let me hurt-"
"You are so fucking stupid. Carlisle already told you that newborns are stronger and faster than older vampires. You saw it in the fucking newborn battle. Do you honestly think any of the Cullen's would be able to stop you if you went on a blood thirsty rampage? You don't even care that you could possibly kill someone. You just wanna be beautiful and ageless."
I squeezed her wrists in my grip as my body trembled with pent up anger. I could feel my wolf beneath the surface. I could control it.
"Words can't even describe what your actions have done to Charlie. Billy, Renee, and my mom refuse to leave him alone. They're afraid to. Renee calls to check on him everyday. He's sleeping on Billy's couch and he cries himself to sleep damn near every night. He thinks your "sickness" is his fault. He knows you and the Cullen's are lying to him. He thinks you hate him and don't want anything to do with him anymore. My mom told me how you would dangle the fact that you were an adult and could do whatever you wanted over his head whenever he tried to be a parent. Especially when you ran off to Italy to save the sparkly piece of shit who dumped you in the woods while he was planning my dads, one of his best friends, funeral. And all you left him was a petty little post-it note on the fucking fridge."
"That had to be the moment I knew you were truly a selfish, self-centered bitch. Just a thoroughly loathsome human. Your dad's best friend died, and you run off to a foreign country. You could've died trying to save that idiot and then Charlie would've been planning two funerals."
"And now you're willing to die for this blood-thirsty demon child that is clearly dangerous. After everything, everyone has done for you? The pack, the Cullen's, you want to throw it all away for this little monster? If you think any of the pack are going to let that thing live you've got another thing coming. I'll be glad when we can finally be done with you and the rest of this fucked up family and move on with our lives. Our human lives."
The howl of Jacob's wolf called out to mine. Another shift change.
I left Bella's bedside. She attempted to speak through tears.
"One last thing, Bella. If that spawn manages to not kill you, you and the Cullen's need to pack up your shit and leave Forks. Don't ever comeback. You and the Cullen's have disrupted our lives enough. We don't need anymore of the trouble your kind bring here. Just let Jacob move on with his life. He deserves that after everything you've put him through."
See you all next time. Byee.
