Thank you for reading! Sorry for any mistakes! Enjoy! This chapter has some domestic violence in it. Just the heads up. Also, a different take on the fight scene.
Padme, Obi-Wan, and the twins sat on the transport together. They were on their way to a new planet, a new home for a few months. Padme hated this. On the outside they looked like a young family. No one would ever guess she was the former senator from Naboo, and he was once one of the greatest jedis in the galaxy. Padme was blonde now. Obi-Wan changed his look as well. He was more distinguished, he looked older. The twins were now a few days away from their first birthdays. How are they already almost one? So much had happened. The four of them had been on the run since the left the hospital all those months ago. They hadn't stopped moving or hiding from the prying eyes of the empire. Padme had many breakdowns. Her once loving, adoring husband had turned into an abusive monster. Almost killing her and their babies. She was so angry and bitter towards even the thought of him. But then she remembered the good, their moments of happiness. She remembered him before power and control had taken over his mind. She remembered how he did the sweetest things for her, he never forgot anything she said. Their marriage had ups and downs, but they worked through everything in their union.
As they bounced around on the transport, Padme looked at the fellow passengers. Gone were the days of her life of luxury. She didn't care about the material things, but she did feel bad about her children not having the luxurious life she had. Her and Obi-Wan were now used to traveling in the worst of conditions, just to blend in with the crowd. Everyone in the galaxy looked miserable. The empire had a tight grip over almost every planet and system. Padme had no idea Anakin was still alive, ruling the empire with Palpatine, under his new name. She still believed he died. Obi-Wan would never tell her the truth. Every day she missed her husband. Even the bad person he became. Padme stared off into the distance. Her babies were fast asleep. "This can't go on forever." She thought to herself. She wanted to give her children a stable life. They had to find a planet she could live on with them for more than a few months. She wanted them to have somewhat of a normal life. The worry of them one day potentially being found by the empire was not an option. Padme feared the empire. Her children were special, they were all that remained of Anakin. Even though the children were young right now, Padme expressed more than once to Obi-Wan that she did not want her children to know the ways of the force. She did not want them fighting. She wanted to protect them only.
Their twins were now little toddlers. Luke looked and acted like Padme, but Leia was her fathers daughter. She reminded Padme so much of him. Parenting was hard. Padme was suffering from PTSD after their birth and found it hard to do anything but basic care for them. Obi-Wan lived with her for the first few months of their lives, helping with anything he could. When the twins were around three months old, Padme broke. The memory of what her husband did to her and their unborn babies returned, and it haunted her. Obi-Wan was there for her and got her through it. She was forever indebted to him. Mothering was hard. Mothering two infants was difficult. She shared an amazing bond with them. They were truly her heart and soul and reason she was still alive.
The four of them arrived on their new planet, this one had a rain forest environment. After traveling for most of the day they arrived at their new homes. Obi-Wan lived a few doors down from where Padme and the babies would be staying. Their houses were preset, furniture already set up for them. Obi retired to his home and Padme ran the bath for her babies. Bath time and bed time soon ended and Padme found herself alone in her new kitchen, sipping some wine. She could barely ever sleep, and the wine helped. She stood there holding her glass, when suddenly she dropped the glass, and cut her foot. The look of blood, flesh, and glass brought her back...
"Anakin!" Padme screamed as she stepped off of her ship. She ran to him. Something was terribly different about him. She could feel it. He had become more violent, possessive, and controlling the past few months, but this was something new, something dangerous. Padme couldn't find Anakin for days, the last time she had seen him the Jedi temple had fallen, chaos was all around them. She left Naboo and flew back to Coroscanr to find him. She had no idea the pain and destruction HE was causing. When she finally found Anakin, he was out of it, manic, he seemed so freaked out and different she felt scared. He assured her he would be ok, and he would be home to Naboo any day for the birth of their twins. Padme had about a month left before they would make their arrival. She had their house all set up. All she was waiting on was her Anakin. Now the whole galaxy was in despair and she couldn't find her husband. When she finally found Anakin, she was so worried about him she snuck a tracker on his ship and was monitoring his whereabouts. She felt horrible but this wasn't the man she married. She tracked his ship to a fiery planet, Mustafar. 'What is he doing there?' She wondered. She flew to find out.
"What are you doing here?!" He exclaimed. She was shocked by what she saw. He was dirty, he seemed to have been up for days, and his eyes once blue as the oceans were now yellow and red. She instantly stopped in her tracks. "Anakin what is wrong with you?" She had no filter. He didn't take this question lightly.. "wrong with me?!" He asked, almost yelling at her.
Padme walked up to Anakin and grabbed him. She pulled him into a hug and held him tight. She knew something was terribly wrong with him and she had to get him off of this planet. "Please leave with me. I need you. Leave all of this behind and come with me." She was pleading with him.
"We don't have to hide anymore Padme. We don't have to give up our careers Padme..." he was smiling. "I found ways to save you, to save us. I am becoming more powerful than I ever could with the Jedi." He was delusional. He wasn't himself. This wasn't the man she married. He was on some kind of power trip high she couldn't understand. She had no idea what he had done.
"Anakin, what has happened to you." He was insulted by what she was implying. He took her hands and threw them off of him. He turned around, angry she didn't see how much easier their lives would be. "I've finally made it so we can be us, do what we want with the galaxy, help who we want, eliminate who we want..." Anakin was smiling about his new powers. The glow of his yellow eyes was chilling. He was riding the high of his new found powers.
"Anakin what has happened to you?!" Padme looked at him, she was starting to feel sick. A terrible feeling filled her body and she almost felt like she was going to throw up.
Anakin turned and faced her yet again, he stepped closer to hold her but Padme instinctively moved back. This insulted Anakin and he grabbed her hard. "I am becoming who I was destined to become." He said in a matter of fact tone. "My whole life I've done what everyone else wanted me to do. I am finished living on other peoples terms. I am saving you, from certain death. I will be able to provide our children with the best. Protect them. Train them the way I should have been trained. "Padme everything that the Jedi have told us has been a lie." He seemed so sure of himself. He walked around, cocky, planning his next moves over and over in his mind. He seemed like he was on some kind of drugs.
Padme was confused. How was she supposed to take this all in? Where was Anakin? The man she married? Gone was her loving husband. She didn't know this man. The Jedi temple had been burning for days and yet Anakin didn't seem to care. He didn't ask about any of his fellow Jedi. She started putting the pieces together..'what if it was him?' She thought to herself. The thought made her sick. How could the man she loved commit such horrible crimes? Who was this man? She became to panic. "It was... it was you." She came to the horrifying conclusion. "You." The way she said it showed her disgust. "You turned...Ani, did you murder those Jedi?!" She looked at him for an answer. He backed off of her and once again turned around, not facing her. She stood in utter shock. She knew her husband had been changing the past year but this was something on another level. How could he murder the people he has worked with since he was a child..and then the thought came into her head.. the children. The younglings.
"Anakin, tell me you didn't hurt the children?" She grabbed him and forced him to look at her. His face was ice cold. Yellow eyes. No emotion. "Tell me." At first he didn't respond. He stood there motionless, planning his next move. Padme let out a primal gasp and slapped him as hard as she could. "YOU MONSTER!" She yelled! Tears flowed down her face freely, she grabbed her pregnant stomach almost instinctively, and backed far away from Anakin. She was out of breath, pale, and in shock. Before she had a second more to think, Anakin grabbed her and threw her to the ground. She landed on her back and immediately fought back. "Get off of me!" She tried to escape but he was way too powerful. He was full of rage, anger, pain...he was suffering more than she knew. "Children..when we have children on the way?!" She screamed at him. He picked her up off the ground and held her face in his hands. By this point Padme was doing everything she could to break his hands free of her, she wanted to run away and never see him again. "I did this for us. FOR YOU!" Anakin was crying as well. He couldn't understand why she didn't see his side of things. "The Jedi have used me for years, I went from one slave master to the next and you don't even care!" He was crying. He shouldn't be showing fear but he was. A moment of clarity went to his head and he started to throw up with the thoughts of what he had just done. He didn't regret it, but he did regret the pain it caused Padme. He turned to look at Padme, this was a Padme he had never seen. She came up to him and punched him as hard as she could. His nose broke. Blood was everywhere. So much blood that when Anakin went to pick up something to wipe his nose with, he dropped a small glass sculpture right on Padmes foot. It broke and shattered into a million pieces. Blood was all over the floor and all over Anakins face. Anakin grabbed Padme and threw her down to the ground covered in glass. By this time her arms and feet were cut up. She was completely broken. Face was swollen wjth tears and she held her pregnant belly protecting as much as she could. This was truly the worst moment of her life. Anakin wanted to run to her, comfort her, hold her... but Vader saw a weak women who wouldn't listen to her husband. Vader stood in the room with his wife. Watched her ball her eyes out. "You are coming with me." He demanded of her as he walked away to ready the mom ship.
Before Vader could leave the room, he was hit with an instant jolt from the force.
"Padme, get away from him."
Both Padme and Anakin turned, it was Obi-Wan. He must have tracked Padmes ship, followed her, and then hid his ship somewhere else on the planet.
"You brought him here to kill me!??" He yelled at Padme.
"No!" It was truly all she could get out. Her eyes were bright red from the tears and the makeup she had on soon was running down her face. He ran to grab her, to shake some sense into her. The next thing he knew he knocked Padme back down to the floor and began strangling her with his hands. His rage for her betrayal burned in him. He did not see anything else but red. He didn't see his wife, he didn't see the mother of his children, he didn't see his friend, he saw an enemy that needed to be dealt with. Gone was Anakin. Vader was truly born in this moment, assaulting the mother of his children, trying to kill her. Padme laid on the ground in shock. She had hit her head pretty badly on the second fall and struggling to keep consciousness as Anakin squeezed harder. What was happening? I few short weeks ago they were fine, preparing for the birth of their babies.
As Padme pleaded with Vader to stop, she looked in his eyes for sympathy. He was stone cold. 'Please think of the babies.' She thought out loud so he could hear her. Suddenly he stopped, but it was too late. Padme was unconscious. Vader began to sob. All the anger burning through him didn't stop the love he had for his family. In a passing moment, Anakin was back. 'What if I'm the one who kills her?' He thought. The thought sent a wave of fear he had never felt in his life around his body. He checks her vitals...
And then it hits Anakin. It literally hits him. Obi-Wan was absolutely disgusted with the man he saw before him. Anakin a was once like brother to him. He tried to not 'father' him too much but he couldn't help it. He raised this little boy, who was seduced by the dark side, turned on his friends/co-workers/family. All for what? This wasn't the Anakin Obi-Wan raised and trained. This was Vader. A dark, twisted, soulless man. Obi-Wan knew what he had to do: destroy Vader at all costs. 'Anakin is gone.' Obi-Wan reminded himself. Obi-Wan hit Vader hard with his lightsaber, cutting a deep hole in anakins forearm. He did not see that coming. "Can't play fair old man." Vader yelled at his former master as they began to battle. Both of their skills could not be matched. They trained together. They taught each other everything they knew. This battle would be for death.
The fight was now getting into dangerous territories. Both men losing energy. "Why did you do this Anakin." Obi-Wan had to know. "Why?" He cried. He cried real tears and it stopped Vader in his tracks. "We were brothers." Obi Wan cried. Both of them just put their weapons down for a second, trying to catch their breathes but also getting their much needed anger out. "I should have been on the council , trusted, treated better. Freedoms-
"You had freedoms Anakin, you impregnated the senator. How long has this been happening? Obi-Wan threw back at him.
This was exactly it. Anakin wasn't built for this Jedi life. They had always told him how powerful he was but did not want to train him in certain powers just yet. He was expected to bring peace to the galaxy. Balance everything out. But he was reckless. He was irresponsible. He wasn't prefect. He wanted his freedom, he wanted to be married, and he wanted a family. For the past 3 years all he saw was death and dying fighting in a war that wasn't real. Now he was just on a rampage.. finally in control of his own life.
"Do not speak of Padme in those terms." He lashed back.
Obi-Wan just shook his head. "You murdered innocent people. You murdered children. You have turned to the dark side...the thought broke Obi-Wans heart..."you have hurt Pasme and your unborn children deeply. I saw most of your fighting. You are an evil person and I will do what I must." Obi-Wan was wise. He said what needed to be said. The fight went on for another 18 minutes. Former brothers, dueling it out. Obi-Wan came out on top, on higher land than Anakin. "Things can still be different for you Anakin. Don't go down this path." Obi-Wan begged his former apprentice.
Anakin didn't say anything. His eyes filled with rage and he jumped to Obi-Wan. In this moment Obi-Wan hit one of his legs. He hit it hard enough that it was gone. Anakin in pain lost his balance with the force and fell onto a hot stones right before the fire and lava that was this planet. A piece of his clothing lit and before he knew it his face was on fire. Obi-Wan panicked at seeing that. Should he do something? He didn't want to kill his friend. His brother.. would this be his way out? Mother Nature. He didn't want this at all. Anakin screamed for him, "Obi-Wan!" The echos were so loud. Obi-Wan made the decision there to walk away. Anakin was once his best friend, but this person was someone no one knew: an evil monster. He murdered children. Obi-Wan couldn't kill Anakin but nature would.
When Obi-Wan made it back to where Anakin and Padme began frighting, he found Padme, laying on the ground,. He rushed to her. She had a heartbeat.. so did the babies but she was close to needing serious medical attention. Hey eyes were almost swollen shut. Clothes ripped. Big strangle bruise around her neck. She hadn't woke up since Vader strangled her: she wasn't waking up either. Obi-Wan got her to her ship and they were soon on their way to the closest hospital. Obi-Wan sat in shock as he went over in his mind what just happened. He had no idea how much life was about to change.
