(Hikaru's POV)
That night, me & Karin were sitting at a desk in the living room doing homework (we had both changed out of our uniforms. I was wearing a dark blue & white striped shirt, black pants, & black shoes) with a table lamp on. Sitting in a armchair nearby was a woman with lavender hair in a bun, pale skin, brown eyes, & wearing a red dress in a very sterotypical fancy style & matching heels*
Calera: Karin! Hikaru! That light's too bright! Turn it off!
Karin: But, Mom, reading in the dark causes eye strain.
Hikaru: We have homework.
*Getting annoyed, Mom threw her slippers at us, hitting us both in the head*
Calera: Sheesh! It's not my fault you two were born without night vision!
Karin & Hikaru: Ouch!
*A man with black hair that had a few blonde hairs at the front, pale skin, a black mustache, black eyes, & wearing a white shirt with a cravat, black pants, & black shoes came up to Mom with a wine bottle*
Henry:*laughing* Come on, calm down, honey. *he poured some blood in a wine glass* Here. Have some fresh chilled Blood of a Liar.
*Mom took a sip & quickly spit it out*
Calera: EWW!
Henry:*shedding tears* Oh!
*Anju & Boogie came into the room*
Hikaru: Oh boy. Blood of a Liar is pretty expensive too.
Karin: Poor Daddy.
Anju: This is just the way they are.
Karin & Hikaru: You think.
Calera: I need more than the blood of some idiot who only told lies to his fishing buddies. I want the blood of a really destructive liar!
Henry: What!? That's so hard to get . . .
*Mom grabbed Dad by his collar*
Calera: I like my blood spicy and bitter! How can you not know what kind of blood your wife likes!? How long have we been together!?
Henry: I'm sorry! I'll work harder!
*Dad started cleaning up the mess, crying*
Calera: Pffft! You call yourself a man?
Karin: Are you sure things are okay between them?
Anju: Yup! They're the perfect couple.
*I just watched with an indifferent look. Just another night for the Maaka/Marker Family*
Hikaru:*off-screen* In case you haven't guessed by now, everyone in our family in a vampire. We moved to Japan over two hundred years ago. This is our Mom, Calera Marker, our Dad, Henry Marker (they both kept their European names), & our little sister, Anju. Her vampire powers haven't awoken yet, but give her time. As for me & Karin. We're vampires too, but not in the normal sense . . . A typical family of six. With fangs.
Karin: Where's big brother?
Anju: I'd imagine Ren is hanging out at some attractiv, but rather dizty, young lady's house. Again.
Hikaru:*in his mind* Lazy good-for-nothing brother.
Hikaru:*off-screen* When we moved from Europe, most of our family changed their surname from Marker to Maaka. It's certainty appropriate. After all, the Kanji for Maaka indicates a pure red color. It's helped us blend into society here.
*Karin & I both yawned*
Hikaru: It's eleven. We're going to bed.
Calera: Already?
Karin: Yes, Mom. We have school tomorrow. We need our sleep.
*We both left the room & headed upstairs*
Hikaru:*off-screen* Because of our . . . Condition, Karin and I only get to see our family after sunset, usually before we go to sleep.
(Third-Person POV)
Calera: What are we going to do about those two? Awake in the daytime, loves the sun, doesn't like the dark . . . They're like regular humans.
Anju: Well, that's why they're losers, right? As vampires, I mean.
(Hikaru's POV)
*The next morning, Karin & I were in the kitchen, making our lunches & breakfast, when Anju came into the room*
Anju: Morning.
Karin: Huh? You're up, Anju?
Anju: I thought I'd go to elementary school today. Since it's all cloudy outside.
Hikaru: Has Ren come home yet?
Anju: Not yet. *I could just imagine Ren laying in the bed of random girl, while she's getting ready for work* That's exactly what happened. Now he can't leave until the sun sets again. That's why we haven't seen him in a few days.
Karin: I see. Now could we not talk about this anymore? Because the fact that it's being told to us by a third grader is really weirding me out.
Hikaru: Same here.
*Later, Karin & I were walking to school. Suddenly, we hid when we saw . . .*
Hikaru:*in his mind* Kenta Usui! Why the heck are we hiding!? Must be instinct. Why did our blood react to him. Was it just that particular day? Well, no matter the reason, we have to figure out what's going on and see what can be done. *suddenly, I noticed Karin coming out of hiding & walking towards Usui**whispering* Karin! What are you doing!?
*She ignored me & tried to approach him. She hesitated. Because of a certain incident that happened in middle school, Karin's had problems talking to guys, other than me. She then dashed towards him, but tripped over him when he knelt down to pick up some change. She then fell on her face. Usui looked up saw her underwear. They both blushed red & Karin sat up, holding down her skirt. I then ran to Karin & helped her stand up*
Hikaru: Karin! Are you okay!?
Karin: Yeah. I'm okay. *I turned to Usui with a glare (look up "Hikaru's Glare" by "SwanGirl24" on "DeviantArt") making him flinch. I have a pretty scary glare**to Usui* Uh . . . Good . . . M - Morning . . . *he didn't say anything. he just picked up Karin's bag & gave it to her* Th - Thank you.
*He then stared at us for a minute & walked away. We both stood where we were, dumbfounded*
Hikaru:*in his mind* What . . . What's his problem!?
*The whole day in class, I could feel Usui staring at us. I kept thinking back to that look he gave Karin*
Hikaru:*in his mind* Man. What was with that look he gave Karin? It was so cold! Like he hates her. Did I imagine it? Why would he . . . *I then remembered the impression she gave on him* Oh yeah. That stuff. *soon, school was over* Darn it. Well, at least I know we're okay on our normal days.
*Karin & I both headed out the door*
Maki: Karin. Hikaru. Going to work?
Karin: Yeah, see you tomorrow.
Daikichi: Good luck.
Hikaru: Gee, thanks.
Later, me & Karin were at our part-time job, which was at a restaurant called Julian. We were both wearing our uniforms. Karin's was a white maid's headband, a red plaid scarf over a white button up shirt, a white apron over a black skirt, white socks, & brown shoes & mine was a black vest over white shirt, black neck tie, a black apron, black pants, & black shoes (look up "Hikaru - Waiter Uniform" by "SwanGirl24" on "DeviantArt" )*
Karin: Here you go. One coffee and one beef teriyaki bowl. Anything else I can get for you?
Hikaru: Okay. That's one order of black tea with a chicken curry rice and one order of light roast coffee with a pork cutlet rice bowl.
*After Karin finished delivering a customers order, one of our coworkers called out to her*
Waitress: Oh, Karin, could you get me some napkins?
Karin: Sure.
*She started heading to the storage room in back as I took the order to the kitchen. I was about to go take another customer's order when I noticed someone very familiar coming into the restaurant
Hikaru:*in her mind* Kenta Usui! What's he doing here!? *just then, I remembered that Julian was looking to hire some new staff* Oh! I forgot about that! *I watch him go into staff room with the Manager (who was a portly man with black hair, light tan skin, closed eyes, & wearing glasses & the same uniform as me)* I better warn Karin.
*I was just about to sneak away to the back, when I heard a loud . . .*
CRASH!
Hikaru:*in his mind* Karin!
*I ran towards the back & found Karin laying on Usui's lap on the floor, with him sitting on the floor. Napkins were all all around them. The Manager came rushing in behind me*
Manager: Usui! Karin! Are you okay!?
*Usui turned around & was surprised to see me*
Hikaru:*in his mind* So much for warning Karin.
*After our shifts were over, Karin & I explained everything to the Manager*
Manager: Oh, so you're classmates. Then Usui-kun, do you think you can walk the twins home?
*All three of us walked down the street, but we couldn't look each other in the eye*
Kenta: So you guys are working at Julian?
Karin: Yeah. That . . . That we are.
Hikaru: In our family, when you're our age, you're expected to get a job and start earning your keep.
*The truth is, Karin & I have to pay the electric bill*
Karin: Plus there's lots of things to buy. Lots of . . .
*Suddenly, he grabbed Karin by the arm*
Hikaru: Hey! What are you -
Kenta: If you have a job, then you don't need to whore yourself out anymore. So stop doing it!
*We were both shocked by what he just said*
Karin: Hey! Wait! What the - !?
*I grabbed him by the collar*
Hikaru: How dare you call my sister a whore!
Kenta: Sorry, but I saw her. She was . . . Servicing an older gentleman yesterday.
*We were both even more shocked by what he just said. I let go of him*
Hikaru:*in his mind* He saw her!?
Karin: Th-That wasn't . . . I - I - I - I - I - I . . . I w - w - w - would never . . .
Kenta: Come on, stop trying to hide it. You're not very good at lying.
Hikaru:*in his mind* What do we do!? We have to come up with a good excuse . . . Okay, he didn't realize that she was bitting that man, but we can't tell him the truth. Come in, Hikaru. Think!
?:*off-screen* Hey, hey!
We turned around & saw a man with azure hair, pale skin, yellow golden eyes, & wearing a black leather jacket over a dark purple button up shirt, black pants, & black shoes with a girl with long brown wavy hair*
Ren: Why if it isn't Karin and Hikaru. Long time no see.
Cherry: Hey, who's she?
Ren: Relax, it's just my sister. And the boy next to her is my little brother.
Cherry: You're brother? *she stared at me, making me blush* He's a cutie.
Ren: Isn't he? He looks up to me so much, he wants to be just like me.
Hikaru:*in his mind* Oh please! You're the last person I want to grow up to be like!
*Ever since I was a baby, he's always using me as a honey trap to impress the girls he wants. They started cuddling*
Cherry: So you're really going home? I'll miss you so much.
Ren: I've been at you're house for five days now, Cherry. I have to go home sometime. I'll fly back to you soon enough. We're like the north and south of a magnet, baby. We simply cannot stay apart.
Cherry: Oh, Ren!
*They stared kissing & we all turned away with embarrassment. Then Usui waved at us & he ran away*
*Once we got home, Karin was yelling at Ren*
Karin: Stupid Ren! It's bad enough he thinks I'm a prostitute! What are they going to say about me at school tomorrow!? I'd rather him know I'm a vampire!
*Mom then hit both of us on the head with her slipper, even though I haven't said anything*
Calera: You moron!
Ren: Don't blame me. I just got here.
