Just wanted to say thanks to anyone reading. I write these late at night so sorry for any mistakes. I haven't dove into the Star Wars universe other than the movies and some of the Disney stuff. Sorry if I miss anything! Enjoy!

5 Years Later:

Five long years have passed since the fall of the republic. The empire ruled the galaxy with an iron fist. Once peaceful planets, now ruined and whatever natural materials that came from these planets, they were soon extracted and used for the empires gain. No one felt safe anymore. Padme, Obi-Wan, and her now 6 year old twins were still on the run, still hiding, still moving constantly. They never felt safe, content, and they were constantly looking over their shoulders. They stayed on planets only as long as they needed and moved about every three months. It was a tough life, especially on the twins. Padme desperately wanted a steady life for her children and everyday that dream seemed further and further away. Obi-Wan was tired as well. One thing made up for that, he was helping Padme raise her children. They were bright, even for their young age, and powerful with the force. He knew they were special, Padme lived in denial about it. She did not want her children to face the same fate their father did. These past five years were hard, Padme had to go through the motions of dealing with a husband who almost killed her and her children, and then losing him soon after. Yes, he did a terrible thing, but that wasn't who he always was and Padme had come to terms with it. Anakin was dead. She was a single mother with the help of a dear Jedi friend, and she would most likely be on the run for a long time. Her career was long gone, her family believing she was dead, this was reality. Acceptance was key. Luke and Leia were thriving, despite their situation. Both were intelligent, witty, and hilarious to be around. Padme was a natural mother, her kids were her life. Obi-Wan was her friend and the person she could rely on most. It wasn't easy raising twins. Padme was forever thankful for Obi-Wans dedication to her children. As much as her heart was healing, it still killed her that Anakin wasn't her, raising his own children.

Another move was soon approaching and this time, both Padme and Obi-Wan wanted to stay somewhere longer for a few months. They needed to find a hidden gem, a place the empire didn't really exist, and a place they could stay hidden. Padme had come to the perfect solution: her home planet of Naboo. Vader dared not to go there, and for the most part the empire did not exist there. There would be plenty of mountains and small towns for them to hide out, plus Padme was believed to be dead. She changed her look and could fly under the radar. Obi did not like this idea and wasn't really on board from the start. Too dangerous. Too sketchy.

"It's a terrible idea Padme..." he would tell her over and over again. Padme did not give up though.

On a late evening, Padme and Obi-Wan sat around her kitchen table and discussed the same plan Padme proposed again and again. "Obi-Wan, think about this, we can live a normal life for a while. The twins are getting older and need to start school. They can't be hidden forever." Padme hoped she reached him. She did not. All Obi could think about were the potential dangers lingering. Padme did not know Anakin/Vader survived. He was now a complete and utter monster to the galaxy and telling her this would ruin all the progress she has ever made since the terrible day he turned.

"Padme, I know you want stability..." he couldn't get another word out.

"No you listen Obi-Wan! I've even running and hiding these children for six years. You know the empire isn't on Naboo. We could have at least 6 months. I need this for them, and I need it for myself. I can't keep running. Everything thinks I'm dead..I can start over." She could barely breathe when she got that out. Running and hiding and the loneliness, anxiety, stress, and heartache that came with it wore on her. She wanted a life for her children. Not one of hiding.

Obi -Wan thought about it for awhile. He had a concerned look on his face. He was tired of running, but this was dangerous. Padme approached him with this plan so many times and he was know "considering" it. If they were going to do this, it had to be done the right way, and they couldn't live on Naboo forever.

Darth Vader was a monster who ruled the galaxy ruthlessly. He built a reputation for himself as a leader to be feared, he was powerful, he was ruthless, he was an evil shell of a human being. The empire took control of more and more planets with each passing day. Vader at the helm, he made sure his power kept growing...

Behind his hard exterior, Vader was broken man. He hid his face from the public, it was badly burned. Apart of him didn't want anyone to see he was human, the more mysterious he was the better. Vader hadn't forgot about the day he lost it all, instead he used it as fuel to keep building his empire. He had a plan. He would get rid of the emperor eventually, he would then rule alone. He saw right through the emperor, he had been using Vader his whole life. He would pay for that.

Vader never stopped thinking about Padme and his twins. He would do anything to change the past. He missed her beyond measure. He couldn't move on. The regret he had for hurting them ate away at him more and more each day. How could he hurt his wife? What kind of man was he? Hardly one anymore. Vader was informed by the emperor he would have a mission on Naboo. He argued against going. He hadn't been able to go to that planet since Padmes death and he had planned on never returning. Padmes final resting place was somewhere Vader vowed to never visit. He couldn't bring himself to see the reality of what he caused. Vader couldn't keep dodging the emperor and would soon have to obey his masters orders. That meant returning to Naboo. "I have to do this." He thought to himself. As he sat in his ship, pondering his next move, he took a deep breath and manned up. It wouldn't be easy, but he had to do it. Burry his emotions.

It took much convincing but Obi-Wan finally gave into Padmes request to move back to Naboo. It honestly took her by surprise. She longed for this return. Obi-Wan knew it. Padme, Luke, and Leia had arrived 3 weeks ago and were living in a small town, far away from the capital. Padme enrolled the twins into a day school and began forming a "normal" life for them. Luke and Leia loved Naboo. They loved their home, the environment, and of course school. They were thriving here, in just the short amount of time they had been here. Obi-Wan would be joining them shortly, but he had business to finish up on the last planet they were living on. Padme enjoyed her new found freedom. She was praying it would last. She knew this wouldn't be a forever thing but she hoped it would at least be a year of normalcy before they would have to move on. She had heard whispers of the empire on Naboo doing a training exercise but she did not let it get to her. Safety was a top priority but she felt she and the children were hidden confidently. 'Besides, they would never look here, they think I'm dead.' She thought to herself. If it was serious Obi-Wan would have been there. She continued to live her daily life with her children, until Obi-Wan would arrive. Then she would try to get a small job and create a nice life for the kids.

Vader was hating life back on Naboo. He was running a training exercise but he knew the emperor just sent him there to mess with his mind. Vader knew the emperor caught onto to his plans. He didn't care. Vader would rule the galaxy ALONE soon enough.

The training exercises ran throughout the day. By night Vader was alone in his ship, going over the same thoughts that plagued his mind every second of every day. "Why aren't they here?" He wanted the love of his family so bad. He was growing tired of doing these exercises, and with a few days left on Naboo, he made a decision to take some time for himself the next day. Being here brought back so many memories. Good memories. His days with Padme. He thought about visiting her grave, but couldn't bring himself to do it. There was a small town, far away from the capital, he and Padme would stay in when they would want to go unnoticed. They spent many long weekends away from public eye there. Vader thought if he visited the town, it would help bring some closure. Deep down he just wanted to re-live their memories. Their best days. He would go tomorrow.

Padme held Anakins hand tightly as the finally reached their destination. It was a tiny town up in the mountains of Naboo. It was breathtaking. Padme turned and smiled and Ani, "What do you think, Anakin?" She stood watching him take it all in, the unreal beauty of where they would be spending their next few nights together. Anakin had no words, he smiled, almost embarrassed he couldn't come up with anything to say. He had never seen a view like this, but what made this moment all more significant was that he finally had some free time with his wife. They hadn't seen one another in some time, and he had missed her terribly.

"All that matters is that I am here with you." He said while pulling her towards him. They stayed in this moment, taking in the scenic views of Naboo, and holding one another as close as they could. They hardly ever saw each other anymore. Anakin was always gone. Padme always busy with work. But Anakin had a few days off, and Padme jumped on the opportunity for them to live a "normal" life for a few days. No one would recognize them in this small mountain town, and even if they could, they wore disguises to fool anyone who might recognize the famous Jedi and the hardworking senator.

Padme and Anakin barely left their rented house. The weekend was spent making up for lost time, they couldn't keep their hands off of one another. Sex of course was important for their relationship but they also needed these intimate moments, just being together and living as a couple. Anakin awoke early one morning to find Padme was already out of bed. He searched the house for her, and found her outside, reading and sipping some tea. He sat next to her, watching her, taking in her beauty.

"I didn't want to wake you.." she started to say.

"You didn't my love." He said quickly. Padme could tell something was on his mind... "what is it Anakin?" She asked, putting her book and tea down. She grabbed his hands, holding them tight.

Anakin let out a deep sigh, "Padme, spending these days with you, it makes me want a normal life. Free of the Jedi, free of war. My whole life I've been on other peoples schedules. I want my own. I want to be able to have a normal marriage... I'm just tired. I'm tired of war...I've done some terrible things out there fighting and it keeps me up at night.. eats me alive sometimes." He looked away from her ashamed. It was true. War was draining him. He wanted a normal family life with Padme. He wanted to for once be in control of his own life. He lost his mother due to his Jedi orders. He didn't want to lose his wife. He wasn't getting what he wanted from the Jedi anymore. They didn't trust him, even though he was on the front lines, risking his life daily for them. His relationship with Obi-Wan was great but he was losing respect for the order itself.

"My love, all I want is to be able to give you this life one day." He said pointing to the view of the mountains and lakes. "I want us to leave public service behind...enough already." He stated.

Padme looked at him, feeling torn. She did agree with what he was saying, but deep down she knew the simple life wouldn't fit Anakin Skywalkers life. She knew he would be content for a while, but it would be short lived. Anakin was a passionate fighter, and passionate about helping the underdog. "Anakin, you would be happy for a short time, but you were born to fight, to bring peace to people who only dream of it. I've heard the stories of people that you have helped, your a hero. You will always be looking for the next thing to fight for." She knew her words insulted him but he knew she was right.

"We are still young, we can see where our careers go and figure it out from there. Stop worrying so much.." she grabbed his head with her hands. Smiled at him, and kissed him deeply. Usually this would turn into sex but this was a moment they needed to talk. "I just want to be able to give you the life you deserve." He said to her.

"And what about the life you deserve?" She asked, eyebrows raised high.

Anakin thought about it for a minute. He had been a slave, and then a Jedi apprentice. He didn't really know who he was. His life was never really his. He felt at times, dark, moody, craving more power. He wanted all the power the force had to offer...but what would he do with that power? He wanted the war to end..he wanted to have children with his wife.

Padme and Anakin stayed at their rental for a few more days before it was back to real life for the two of them. Anakin dreaded leaving Padme. He was so worried something would happen to her and he would be worlds away, unable to help. Padme worried she would never see Anakin again. The war was getting dangerous. As they waited for their separate transports, Anakin held onto Padme as tight as he could. 'Nothing can ever happen to her.' He thought to himself, hugging her as hard as he could. He was picking up on Padmes thoughts.. she was worried about him. "Don't worry Padme I am ok. I just like that I can talk to you about this stuff." She looked up at him, embarrassed that he had read her thoughts. "Ani don't read my thoughts. I worry...I worry that even if we had a simple life, you would be bored quickly. Your a fighter Ani, you need a mission always. Get to the rank of master..then you can decide to leave." He knew she was right about that.

Their long weekend had come to an end. They made a promise to one another that each time they had a few days off together, they would come here, to this small town in the mountains of Naboo. It was the perfect romantic getaway and no one batted an eye at them. They fit in perfectly. As Anakin was leaving, he turned and ran back to Padme..."this will always be our place." He kissed her passionately, turned around and was on his ship: Padme had a gigantic grin on her face. She was so happy he liked it here and they had a new hide away for them to be husband and wife. ''Forever our spot.' She took a mental note.. 'this will forever be our spot.'

The sunrise on Naboo this morning was one for the books. Padme was up early. She watched the sunrise as she drank her tea. For the most part, Padme was happy to be home, not on the run (for now) but some memories of this place hit her pretty hard. Today was one of those days. This was the house her and Anakin spent long weekends in. The lake they swam in was right up the road. She had so many good times with him here. Oh how she longed for that. She was in a good spot, but she was waiting for the next round of bad news. Obi-Wan would be coming to Naboo sometime this week and Padme was looking forward to seeing her friend again. The children would be up soon, no school today so Padme planned on bringing them to the lake. "Our lake." She thought to herself. Her and Anakin went there whenever they came to Naboo. She went inside and began packing their bags, waiting for the children to wake up.

Vader mulled around the city. Stopping to remember places he and Padme had been to. He was in a sour mood. Being back on Naboo wasn't healing him, or providing any closure. It was making the longing he had for his family even worse. He was slowly hiking up to their mountain town, the one where no one ever even knew them. He made his way up, with each passing foot print he was reliving so many of his and Padmes old memories. Most of them good, some bad. As he came up a winding trail, he reached the entrance to the lake. All of the sudden he felt something powerful in the force, not just one powerful entity, but two. It stopped him in his tracks. He didn't know whether to go forward or not. For the first time in his life, he was scared and didn't know his next move, He could hear children close by splashing around. He could hear a women's voice telling them to calm down. Vader stood on this trail, locked in place, frozen... he felt two strong force entities... but something else. Something familiar. He started walking towards the sounds of the children playing. He didn't want to disturb them, so he peaked through the brush at them. It was a boy and a girl, brother and sister, playing in the shallow ends of the lake. There was something so familiar about them. Something he knew. He was fascinated by these two kids. He watched them play for a few minutes. Then he heard a voice, a voice he had been longing to hear for 6 years. "Luke, Leia, it's time to head back. Play for 5 more minutes and then it's dinner time." It was Padme. He knew her voice. His heart was in his throat. He didn't see the women who spoke to the children but...he knew it was her. He came out from behind the brush and the children immediately got silent.

Here Vader was, a dark, scary, monster staring these children. They stared back. He could feel their power in the force and said out loud "my twins."

The twins slowly started packing up their play toys and backing up the beach to avoid Vader. Neither child ever took their eyes off of him. It was a tense moment. Finally, Leia yelled for her mom, and the way she yelled for help, her mom knew it was serious.

Padme came running down the hill to the lake. She had been packing up their small street car when she heard Luke and Leia get unusually quiet. Panic came over her body. She ran towards Leias voice. She finally made it down the trail to where her children were. She grabbed her children and looked to see what they were looking at: a tall, dark man, with his face covered, towering over them. Padme was speechless. She saw the empire badge on him. Total fear took her over. 'What do you want? Leave us!" She barked at him. But he wouldn't move. You couldn't see his face, you couldn't read what he was thinking. Padme held the twins in her arms, fear echoing throughout her body. Vader couldn't believe his eyes, he wondered if this was a bad hallucination...but it wasn't, he was staring at his "dead" wife and kids. So many things going through his mind, how did they survive? Where have they been? Padme said again, "leave us alone."

"Padme, it's me." With that he took off the dark hood covering his face, he revealed his scarred, changed look. Shock hit her. The children were relieved to see a human under the hood. Padme almost collapsed. It was her Anakin.

"Ani?" She gasped. It was her Ani. The twins father. He was alive.
