A/N: I am doing a mass Author's Note on the chapters I am posting today.
In my personal life I have currently been binge reading more fanfiction vs writing it. My partners deployment is almost finished and reading and writing fanfiction has helped me get through these last few months. It's what's helped me keep it together with my rollercoaster of emotions and have an outlet away from my kiddos.
Thank You to the readers that enjoy and are still around for more.
I try my best to cross-post on both AO3 and Fanfiction with all of my stories, but the post format is different for both and sometimes difficult if I have too many italics. That's hard for stories like Mama's Boy with the flashbacks.
Comments, Ideas, Opinions, and Feedback are always appreciated.
Story Updates:

Lyla woke up to the sound of a soft snore that almost sounded like a whisper. There was also a warm against her back.
She starts to sit up, "Shit. Did we fall asleep?" Her voice was groggy and even cracked.
The shifting next to her caught her attention. Looking at the sleeping guy in her bed was different. He'd never stayed the night. Sure he lingered and brought food and enjoyed post sex conversation. All things that she didn't think she'd also start to enjoy. Things that she had actually started to look forward to outside of just the sex.
Yesterday was the first day where they actually didn't have full sex. He'd brought her favorite snack and pleasured her without the expectations of anything in return. He had even fallen asleep with her while going over office work.
She looked over at the picture of the last person that she had felt these type of butterflies for. Her friend that had only ever been just a friend. Having never gotten the chance to confess, sat with her everyday.
The bird man started to fidget next to her and his hand gently found her forearm. They had shared the bed but it seems that they did so without much physical contact. But now the simple physical touch made her body relax.
Relax just before his phone went off with the most annoying alarm. Which was probably why he even had the alarm at all. If it wasn't waking himself up she was sure he'd have great pleasure in seeing her annoyance.
She watches as he lazily takes the phone from under the pillow and turns it off before fully moving his arm over her midsection.
He tugs at her waist, "Lay back down." His voice murmured.
Lyla actually thought he looked cute but wouldn't admit it.
"Nope. Come on Birdy. You got to wake up." She unwraps his arm from her waist earning her a groan from the man.
"I don't wanna."
"Stop whining. You have to go hero and I got to take paperwork in so that you have a building."
She sits at the edge of the bed and starts to look at her own phone. Email and calendar notifications waiting for her. Along with the many tasks that she had to accomplish.
The shifting in the bed tells her that he was getting up. She turns to find that his direction of motion was towards her, planting a soft kiss on her temple.
"Okay. I'll head out. Talk to you soon, Lyla." He slides off on her side of the bed and while doing so cherishing her waist along the way.
The small action felt lighthearted and almost intimate, sending butterflies to her stomach as she watched him exit her door. Noting that he took the trash from last night's snacks with him.
The entire morning she found that her thoughts would turn to Hawks. To Keigo. When she got dressed she was reminded of how he'd thought of her comfort when he got her sweat pants. He clearly had remembered the location and her choice in comfort clothing during their time together.
It almost made the act of taking them off to change for the day make her feel empty. Like peeling off a bandage that had the sticky stuff still stuck on your hairs. Taking off the soft material that reminded her of the comfortable setting they were in last night.
Lyla was instructed that the day would start for Mr. Yamazaki's day with his lunch. He was going to be taking the morning to spend needed quality time with his wife. Up till that point Lyla didn't even have an idea that the man was married.
And as nice as it would be to start the day later she still had to deal with the tasks that Jones threw her way. Now she just did more of it off of the clock. Not that interns get paid anyways.
And with her little bit of funds left she made her way to the nearest convenience store for canned coffee and packaged breakfast.
While walking through the entrance of the store her eyes couldn't help but turn to look at the magazine racks. Her eyes only flickered but in that one motion she couldn't help but notice anything with pops of red.
She tried to ignore what her eyes were trying to do. What she knew they were looking for. Lyla really tried to ignore the nagging but after her small shopping basket had the canned coffee and two salmon onigiri she couldn't stop her feet from walking to the array of entertainment magazines.
The apparent Hawks detection scanner that were her eyes didn't take long. This cover was different from the last one that she remembered. The last one had him wearing casual clothing, which she realized she was secretly wanting to see, while this one had him posing in his hero suit.
His pants were hanging much lower for the female gaze to admire. Making Lyla remember what his boy looks like under the tight black layer.
Lyla had to reel herself in from thirsting over a picture. No less a picture of a man she was sleeping with. But how long was their arrangement going to go on for? She really enjoyed her time with Keigo.
Her eyes scanned over the various titles and article names on the magazine. It dawned onto her that Hawks was 'Hawks' everywhere else. She figures it was an alias but most people could figure out other heroes' names if they wanted to.
She let out a breath and ignored the blush that tinted her face as she took up the magazine in her hand. Not even daring to look at it as she did. Embarrassed to be seen purchasing it.
Lyla also purchases the onigiri and she momentarily looks for Keigo's favorite snack but they didn't have it in his favorite flavor. So she moved on with her purchase for the morning.
While walking the streets she found that she'd look to the sky more often and the different roof tops. She ignored the nagging in her brain that was her mind being on high alert in hopes of catching a glimpse of the hero. She also ignores the anticipation that she felt with wanting to open up the newly purchased magazine.
Instead she focuses on the tasks at hand before having to acquire Mr. Yamazaki's fancy coffee and cheap lunch. Ever since the man had the KFC chicken for the meeting he had repeatedly asked for it. So even after leaving her old job she found herself still showing up just before their lunch rush almost every day. Sometimes it felt like she'd never left.
Which is why again after finishing all of her tasks she finds herself outside of the building waiting. She felt stupid waiting outside of the KFC because she was technically waiting for nothing and something all at once.
Basically she was waiting to see if Hawks was going to show up and they could walk in together. But through her waiting the lunch rush was starting to build and she really didn't want to wait through too much. On the other hand she'd never bumped into the hero here the other times because she avoided the lunch rush.
Something she remembered very fondly was that Hawks seemed to prefer showing up at the most busy time. Seeking all of the attention. Lyla wasn't she if it was the attention of the fact that it annoyed the employees that he enjoyed more.
Another person entered the building making it five customers deep and she decided that she wasn't going to wait any longer. Plus she really didn't know if Hawks still showed up here and she really wasn't sure if she wanted his commentary on her being there clearly waiting for him. She could deny it, but he was smarter then he put on and he would know the truth.
They'd both know that she had been waiting for him and she wasn't up for that embarrassment at the moment.
Marie enters the KFC building and Hawks watches as she does from the top of a nearby building. He had watched her for the past 20 minutes waiting for him to show up to the fast food chain. But he had actually hardly been back to the place since she left. He had tried a few times because he enjoyed the food but the building just wasn't the same anymore.
Instead Hawks found a mom and pop hole in the wall location that sold the best yakitori he had ever eaten and he had to admit that it felt good to be supporting a small business for once. The elderly couple that ran the place were warm and it seemed that the place was frequented by only the elderly. But since he had started eating there the place started having a bit of a younger crowd in their late teens to their mid twenties.
He had asked the couple if it was a problem. If having more customers put a strain on their services. They were kind and informed him that it was nice to have a younger crowd after their daughter and grandchildren had moved to the big city of Tokyo.
Lyla would like their food. That was one of the first things he thought whenever he ate there. Which was almost everyday.
But now that he watched the woman enter the fast food joint maybe he'd go back for old times. He thought that just as his work phone pinged at him.
Always on call.
But maybe he could set up plans for later. He pulls out his personal phone and messages the woman. While doing so he watched with his keen sight through the windowed doors to see her reaction.
It was worth it. Her eyes lit up and her lips curled up into that smile. That smile that showed her teeth. The smile that was her genuine smile and not her customer service smile. The smile when he'd bring her the post sex snacks. The smile that made him think about something deeper than just being friends with benefits.
And that smile that was reading HIS message made him think that she thought the same thing.
