(Dream - Third-Person POV)
Anju: Big brother, I warned you. If you hurt my brother and sister, I'd erase you.
Kenta: Wai - Wait! I don't know what you're talking about!
*A pistol came out of Boogie's mouth*
Anju: No excuses.
Kenta: I don't understand what do you mean! Explain it to me! Who are your brother and sister!?
BANG!
(Reality)
*In the real world, Kenta was tossing and turning in his sleep*
Kenta: D - Don't erase me!
*Fumio watched her son in worry*
Fumio:*in her mind* Kenta's been having a lot of nightmares lately. Maybe I should wake him up.
(Hikaru's POV)
*I had just finished getting dressed & went down to the kitchen to make breakfast & my lunch. Just then, I saw Karin standing in the kitchen staring at some prepared food & an empty lunch box*
Hikaru:*in his mind* Why's she up so early?
(Karin's POV)
*I stared at the extra food I made, thinking*
Karin:*in her mind* Yesterday I decided to make Usui a lunch, but . . . After thinking about it . . . Overnight . . . How am I going to give it to him? It will feel strange if I suddenly bring him lunch. *I started imagining a scene in a manga* A girl handing a lunch box to a boy is such a Shojo Manga cliche! I can't do something so embarrassing! *I quickly put the food I made in tupperware & put it in the fridge, slamming the door shut* Phew . . . On second thought . . . Forget the lunch!
(Hikaru's POV)
*I was starting to get worried at the way Karin was acting. I didn't realize Anju was right next to me until Boogie spoke*
Boogie: Is she's gonna stress that much over it, it isn't worth doing! What a dummy!
Anju: SHH.
Hikaru:*in his mind* I really wanna strangle that doll.
*I decided to take the extra food Karin made for my lunch. Can't let it go to waste. We just arrived at school when someone put a hand on Karin's shoulder*
Kenta: Karin!
*We both jumped at his suddenly voice*
Hikaru: U - Usui!? Wh - What is it!?
*He took out the lunch box Karin gave him yesterday*
Kenta: I figured I'd give this back to you outside the classroom.
Karin: Oh! Y - Yeah.
Kenta: It was better than I thought it would be. Thanks!
Hikaru:*in his mind* Better than I thought it would be"?
*Soon, it was time for lunch. Karin opened the lunch box Usui gave her & we both looked inside*
Karin: Wow. He really cleaned it.
*Maki & Daikichi came up behind us*
Maki: What's with the empty lunch box?
Karin: Oh! It's nothing.
*Usui then left the room*
Hikaru: We're gonna go to the restroom.
Daikichi: Kay. Can we start eating?
Hikaru: Go ahead.
*We followed Usui to the library & found him reading a book.
Hikaru:*in his mind* This is . . .
*We then went back to the classroom to eat lunch*
Maki: Oh? Usui? That's true. It does seem like he's always hungry.
Daikichi: We always hear his stomach growling in class. It louder after lunch.
*She & Daikichi sit in front of him*
Fuku: I hear it too.
*She sits to his left*
Yuuji: Oh! Me too!
*He sits to his right*
Karin: I . . . Wonder why?
Maki: Who knows?
Fuku: Maybe he has no money?
Hikaru:*in his mind* But he has a part time job. But now that I think about it, he's always being friendly with the cooks at Julian and asking for leftovers. He takes them home in tupperware. It looks like he's in a complicated situation. *I thought of the possible theories. he was being blackmailed or he has a lot of younger siblings to take care of & his parents were deadbeats* I guess that would make sense.
*I stayed late at school that day because I had to meet with my track & field club. When I got home, Karin told me what happened to her that night as she was walking home. Apparently, some creepy bald guy grabbed her & tried to take her somewhere. Luckily, Usui saved her. He gave the bald guy a scary look & he ran away. It was one of those guys trying to get high school girls to work in dating clubs & as prostitutes that our teacher warned us about. Karin then ran away because her blood had started reacting again. I hugged her as soon as she was done with her story*
Hikaru: Oh my god! I'm so sorry I wasn't there! *in his mind* I gotta thank Usui next time I see him.
Karin: It's okay. Anyway, I need your help with something.
*She told me her plan to make Usui happy so our blood won't react to him every time we're near him*
Hikaru: Making him lunch? So that's why you've been acting weirder than usual.
Karin: Yeah. I don't want it to look like I'm doing it because I have feelings for him. I going to make him a lunch tomorrow, so . . . Will you come with me when I give him the lunch tomorrow?
*I was a little surprised by her request, but I smiled & took her hands*
Hikaru: Karin, what did we promise each other when we were little?
Karin: That we'd always be together & to never keep secrets from each other.
Hikaru: Exactly. So, if you need my help, I always be there for you. No matter what.
*She smiled & hugged me*
Karin: You're the best brother in the world.
*I hugged her back*
Hikaru: Yeah. I know.
*The next day, Karin & I made an extra lunch & went to school. Karin was sneaking by the classroom door like she was a ninja*
(Karin's POV)
Karin:*in her mind* Today . . . I actually made him a lunch. He saved me from near defloration. That's a great excuse for a free lunch. And with Hikaru next to me, it should be a little easier to give it to him.
(Hikaru's POV)
*Neither of us noticed Usui coming up behind us*
Kenta: Karin? Hikaru? Why aren't you guys going into the classroom?
*My heart nearly leapt out a my chest from surprise & I turned to him*
Hikaru:*in his mind* How does keep doing that!?
*Karin then ran away. I ran after her*
(Third-Person POV)
Kenta:*in his mind* Why do they always run away when they see me? Though I did think Karin was a prostitute, then she & her brother were vampires, so maybe I deserve it.
(Hikaru's POV)
*We ran all the way to the Nurse's office*
Hikaru:*in his mind* Uhh . . . I can feel my blood increasing. It's no use. We need to rest.
Karin: We need to stay away from Usui today.
Hikaru: Yeah.
*We went inside the office*
Karin: Excuse me. We're not feeling so well. Can we lie down?
Nurse: Oh, Karin and Hikaru, again? You two have become regulars here.
Karin & Hikaru: Sorry.
*We each lay down in a bed*
Nurse: You both have fevers. Want to take the day off?
Hikaru: Yes. *in his mind* Stupid excess blood. It's still daytime. We should just stay here for the rest of the day. Once the sun goes down, we'll find some people and email Anju later.
*Karin & I both fell asleep*
*Once school got out, Karin & I made our way to the park. Just as we arrived, it started to get dark*
Hikaru:*in his mind* But if Usui is someone were reacting to, then we should just bite him, right? So why haven't we tried to yet?
*Just then, a very familiar bat flew overhead*
Karin: Anju's bats! She came.
Hikaru: Perfect. Now we can bite whoever we want. We'll spilt up to cover more ground
Karin: Okay.
*We then went in different directions*
*As I walked through the park, I found a woman who was looking wobbly as she walked, like she was drunk, & moaning to herself. My blood reacted to her*
Hikaru:*in his mind* I can feel it. My instincts are awake. She's perfect. Anju, I'll leave the rest to you.
*I went towards her*
Woman: Dang it! That lousy good for nothing - he tells me . . . He tells me "I have a family", then he . . . He was just playing me! *when I was close enough, I put a hand on her shoulder & she turned to me* What do you want?
*I then bit her on the the neck, injecting my blood into her. She went limp in my arms*
Hikaru:*in his mind* The sweet . . . Delicious taste . . . Of . . . Misfortune.
*As soon as I was done with her, I lay her down on the ground & hid in the bushes as one of Anju's bats erased her memories & she started to wake up*
Woman: Why am I laying in this place? *she stood up & stretched* Hmm! Ah, well! I guess now's a good time to myself a good man!
*She then left laughing. I sighed in relief as soon as she was gone*
Hikaru: Glad that's over. *I stood up* Now, time to find Karin and head home. *I ran through the park until I saw Karin drinking from a girl wearing a sailor uniform* Karin! Did you find someone too -
*I stopped in my tracks when I saw something I have been dreading for the past few months. Kenta Usui watching Karin feed. He then looked at me & his eyes went a little wider. That's when I realized I had blood trailing down my chin & quickly wiped it off*
Kenta: Uh . . . Karin . . . Hikaru . . . So you guys really are . . . Vampires!
*I froze in my tracks, completely speechless & terrified*
