Kenny slowly and carefully removes himself from in between Matt and Nick sliding off the bed grabbing a pair of pants and a t-shirt on the floor. He was going to let them sleep. He makes his way down to the main lobby where Dolph and Briley are sitting on the couches.
"Hey, guys," Kenny says. Dolph looks up smiling. "What's going on? What are you doing up?"
"Briley is waiting for Dalton and I'm supposed to be talking to the detective at 6 am,"
"Dalton is coming?" Kenny asks.
"Yeah, he knows Silas pretty well. He's supposed to be coming with Lethal," Briley says.
"Oh, geez," Kenny says laughing.
"I'm pretty much planning on them being late," Briley says.
"I'd say that is a safe bet," Dolph says.
"How are you doing, Dolph?" Kenny asks sitting next to him.
"I honestly don't know," Dolph says honestly. "Part of me thinks that Dad wouldn't hurt Joey again but it's such a different situation. Then I keep asking myself how the fuck I didn't know about Zack or Curt? Dad didn't or couldn't have the ball to put their hands on them because he knew it would hurt me but he still let the others and that is what gets me."
"Because if he actually cared then he wouldn't let the others touch them," Kenny says.
"Exactly," Dolph says. "I don't know what I'm going to do if I find out he hurt Joey again."
"You mind if I come in when you talk to the detective?" Kenny asks.
"Sure, but it might be hard for you to hear," Dolph says. Kenny just nods in response. Dolph didn't talk about his teenage years past the age of 12 or 13. He did a fair bit of speculating but still didn't know the truth. He knew Joey's side of the story.
"Well, you are early," Kendall says laughing. "Want to just get it over with?"
"Could we?" Dolph asks.
"Sure thing," Kendall says. "Follow me," Kendall says walking over to the conference room opening the door for the two men. He sits down at the end of the table. "Alright, so I am just trying to get an understanding of the suspects involved in this case. Can you describe your relationship with your father, Dolph?"
"It's complicated?" Dolph says. "For the first 12 or so years of my life, he was amazing. Of course, I was considered the perfect kid that nobody could compete with and I could do no wrong so he treated me like I was basically royalty. It wasn't until I saw another side to him that my view changed completely."
"What changed?" Kendall asks.
"Joey started acting out, being a normal toddler, Dad was a single father raising him alone. He didn't try anything else, he just went straight to violence. It just started as spankings and just gradually got worse. Belts, paddles, and then full-on punches and kicks. I tried my best to protect him because I knew that I could. My Dad wouldn't ever get physical with me." Dolph says.
"And did the abuse stop?" Kendall asks. Dolph sighs looking over at Kenny then back at Kendall nodding. "What was the incident that stopped it?"
"It was the incident itself it was what took place after it," Dolph says. "They were fighting on the second story and there was a ledge with a railing and underneath that was a glass table. Dad pushed Joey off the ledge onto the table. He called the ambulance and he lied and said that Joey did it himself. He was 16 at the time, and in our hometown, there was a spike in kids committing suicide so they were taking these things much more seriously. So they sent in a psychiatrist and for some reason, Dad was allowed to stay while they questioned Joey. Joey pretty much revealed that he was suicidal because of what Dad was doing to him," Dolph says. "After that, Dad never laid a hand on him again." Kenny stands up rushing out the door. "Kenny, shit!"
Kenny rushes back up to the room slamming the door shut. Matt sits up suddenly blinking looking around confused. He can hear the soft mutterings of his lover coming from the door. He shakes Nick awake.
"Nicky, Kenny needs us," Matt says. He slips off the bed going over to the door seeing Kenny sitting against it his head hanging. "Babe? What happened?"
"I...I thought I let go of this, anger, and resentment towards my father. I thought I forgave him," Kenny says. "The shit Joey has gone through and now...Lex is just letting him get hurt yet again. He may not be the one that is hurting him but he's not doing anything to protect him!"
"I know. I think you have every right to be angry at your father," Nick says. "But we don't know what else is going to happen. He may change his mind."
"Or he might go back to hurting him again and I don't think Joey can handle that. I don't think Dolph can handle that," Kenny says. "I just want him here with me. Or...I can't believe I'm saying this, I wish I was there with him, at least then I'd be able to protect him."
"Kenny, we will get him back. We will get them all back," Matt says pulling Kenny into a hug. But how long until they get them back is the question?
