Elijah returned to the house he was staying in. As he approached the door, he felt something different and was in alert immediately. He walked into the house slowly, to his surprise the Martins were speaking to a female voice, he frowned as he stepped into the living room.
"Hello brother," a well known voice said behind him, he closed his eyes before he turned.
"Niklaus, what an entirely unwelcome surprise," he said as he looked at his brother.
Klaus smirked at him, "What an entirely unsurprising welcome."
"I believe your meeting with Miss Salvatore was to your general liking," Elijah said as he sat in one of the chairs, Klaus took the other.
"Ah yes, the human Salvatore, quite a character, ain't she?"
"I've found her presence to be amiable, such a lively young woman," Elijah said.
"I killed Mikael today," Klaus said casually.
"So Miss Salvatore told us," Elijah said, not losing his cool, thankful that Alexandra had deigned to explain her trip.
"Running her mouth now?" Klaus asked, tensing, that was interesting.
"Nothing of the sort, her guardian is overprotective, he asked her why she had gone to North Carolina when her plan had been to have a conversation with you regarding the sacrifice, Miss Salvatore explained that she had taken you there so you could commit patricide and not because you decided to take her," Elijah explained.
Klaus relaxed almost instantly and adopted a pensive expression, "The Salvatore brothers?"
"Damon Salvatore in particular, I believe he feels guilty since he killed the girl's father and has taken a parental role towards her, the other brother, Stefan, also favors her and I'm sure he would pick her life above the life of the doppelganger, they resemble siblings," Elijah explained.
"What do you think of her, the doppelganger?"
"Not much, I met the girl once and Miss Salvatore advised me not to approach her because the girl feels self-important and its prone to make rash decisions, it has been a sound advice, although her guardians describe her as a kind hearted mature girl that would accidentally set fire to the world while trying to save it," Elijah said smiling slightly remembering his first meeting with Jenna Sommers.
"Alexandra mentioned something like that earlier today, about the doppelganger," Klaus said and Elijah was quick to notice something.
"You seem to have taken a liking to Miss Salvatore," he said carefully.
"Well, she's by far the most interesting human I've met," Klaus said with a smirk.
"Makes you wonder how much of a remarkable vampire she would be if turned," Elijah said.
"She will be, Stefan Salvatore promised her to do so, he even got her a ring that would act as her daylight ring," Klaus told him, Elijah raised an eyebrow.
"How did you come to that information?"
"She allowed me to keep the ring the night of her school's dance after she sought me out, I tried to stop her from leaving, she gave me the ring as an assurance that she would be back to collect it," Klaus explained.
"And you let her go?"
"I asked myself the same question several times, brother, no need to remind me," Klaus said.
Suddenly there was a knock on the door, the two brothers exchanged glances and stood. Elijah motioned to Jonah and Maddox that it was fine. Klaus reached the door first and opened it. Alexandra was standing on the other side with a smile on her face.
"Hi," she said quietly.
"Hello, love, I was under the impression that I was going to see you tomorrow," Klaus said as he allowed her inside, it was then when they noticed that Mason was with her.
"I know, but Uncle Mason called asking for a favor and since the Bennetts will be preoccupied with saving Elena's life and you have four witches we thought that you would help us," she explained.
"Of course, love, anything," Klaus said, his eyes had left the girl briefly to glance at Mason, but had returned to her.
"Uncle Mason here wishes to be contained tomorrow night, we were thinking about a containment spell in the old Lockwood cellar," she said, Elijah looked at Jonah who nodded.
"Jonah and Luka would be more than happy to cast the spell," Elijah said.
"Thank you, " she said, then turned to Mason, "See, we could have called."
The man looked a little embarrassed and Elijah realized what was happening, he had to hide a smile.
"I just wanted to be sure, Alexandra, no need in having me running around Mystic Falls, one of you could be hurt," Mason said, patting Alexandra's back.
"We'll be going then, thank you," Alexandra said and grabbed Mason's arm.
"So soon, love?" Klaus asked, an innocent smile on his face.
"Oh yes, uncle Damon is feeling angsty, I have the distant feeling that he will at least check on me twice tonight, just to reassure himself that I'm alive, guilt is a wonderful thing," the girl said with a smirk, "Come on Uncle Mason, night Elijah, Niklaus, witches."
The next day everyone went to school as if nothing was going to happen at night, Alexandra was quick to look for Caroline and latch onto her friend murmuring as they walked to their classes, arms linked.
"You did what?" Caroline asked scandalized, several people in the hallway looked at them.
"You were the one who said it was simple, hush it," Alexandra said glaring at the onlookers, she was glad that Elena and Stefan were nowhere near.
"But you just met him," Caroline said.
"I spent an entire day with him, and technically we met the night before, I just needed to do it Care, besides this entire town is getting some, I have my needs too," she said as Matt and Tyler joined.
"We all do, Alex, what are your needs again?" Tyler asked.
"Alexandra kissed Klaus," Caroline told them hushedly.
Matt and Tyler stopped walking and looked at Alexandra surprised.
"Why?" Tyler asked, arms crossed.
"Cause I wanted to? I mean as far as valid reasons go, that's the most basic," she said, Matt and Tyler exchanged glances and shrugged, "besides, he's hot."
"Well, Elijah is good looking," Tyler said, Matt raised an eyebrow at him, "what? I can say when a dude looks good."
"Nothing," Matt said with a smile, Caroline laughed.
"Are you going to tell your uncles?" Caroline asked.
"Not at the moment, this is my dirty little secret so you three better take it to the grave," she stopped and looked at Caroline, "Or you know, keep it."
"Cross my heart and hope to die," Caroline promised with a smirk on her face, "is he a good kisser?" Alexandra raised an eyebrow at her, "hey you're supposed to share the smut."
The day happened slowly, Alexandra and Caroline drifted apart after lunch, each having separate classes and so Alexandra joined Stefan and Bonnie for french class and saw Caroline again for cheerleading practice. After school she went home where Damon had surprisingly cooked lunch for her and Stefan and she was more surprised when Elijah and Klaus joined them.
It was even worse that she was wearing her cheerleading practice clothes, she had been laughing with Stefan as they got out of the car only to see Damon, Klaus and Elijah standing outside the door, she almost tripped as she caught a glance of the two originals, but was quick to place a smirk on her face as she approached them.
"Hi!" she greeted me, trying to play it cool.
"Hello, love," Klaus said with an amused smile on his face.
"Hello, Alexandra," Elijah greeted too.
"I need you to invite them inside, Alex, they're having lunch with us," Damon said, Alexandra nodded at him.
She walked inside the house and turned, a smile on her face, "Niklaus, Elijah, come on in."
After inviting them in she was quick to disappear upstairs and lock herself in her room. She hated the fact that Damon didn't even text her to tell her about lunch, it was horrible. She took a few breaths and straightened herself, she could do this, she dropped her bag by the door and grabbed one of her nylon sweaters and slid it over her tank top. She undid her ponytail and fluffled her hair. She looked relaxed and presentable.
She walked down the stairs confidently and headed to the dining room where the table was set, she stood in the doorway to see Damon, Elijah and Klaus already seated. She jumped slightly when she felt a hand on her shoulder and looked back to see Stefan with a smirk on his face.
"No respect in this house, at all," she mumbled as she went to take her seat by Damon's left while Stefan sat on Damon's right.
The lunch was awkward at first, until Damon began asking questions to the originals present. Elijah helped the flow of the conversation while Stefan interjected from time to time, Alexandra was thankful that the four men were not trying to prove who was the alpha male.
"How about you, love, I don't recall you ever being this silent," Klaus said, Alexandra raised an eyebrow at him.
"Oh no, I'm being entertained by you lot, no need for me to interrupt and I can be silent, I just generally prefer not to," she said with a smirk before taking a sip of the wine that Damon had served.
"Damon took us to meet my werewolf and my vampire for tonight's sacrifice, Mason informed us that you personally handpicked the wolf, why?" Elijah asked with interest.
"Brody,"
"Brady," Damon corrected.
"Same difference, Brady, likes to torture vampires for fun, he's a bully, so I thought it poetic that he died in the hands of a to be hybrid, I'm a big fan of the classics," she said.
"A well edified mind then," Elijah commented.
"A prodigy," Stefan said, "Zach found her reading The Prince, by Machiaveli in the original Italian by age four."
"If so, why are you still bothering with school?" Elijah asked.
"Psychological growth," Alexandra explained, "It is one thing to be able to discern knowledge, another to put that knowledge to good use, I was an impulsive child and easily distracted, no use trying to go to college at ten when a single subject couldn't hold my attention for more than ten minutes."
"She's first in class," Damon said proudly, "I think Elena is her only competition for valedictorian."
"Hah, not even close," she scoffed, "Care's actually second and Amanda is third, Elena and Bonnie are not even in the top ten, Tyler and Matt are seven and eight respectively."
"You're telling me that Miss Mystic Falls, blondie is second overall?" Damon asked, surprised.
"We've been a tight knit group since middle school, Elena and Bonnie never liked our study marathons."
"You cannot tell me that Tyler Lockwood likes them," Damon accused her, she smirked.
"He has no choice, with me and Care nobody does," she said with a grin.
"No suitors?" Klaus asked, Alexandra snorted into her drink.
"Suitors? Are we in the fifteenth century?" she asked, "I don't have time for teenage drama, not like uncle Stefan does."
Stefan gave her an annoyed look and she laughed.
"Although I'm sure Carol Lockwood would sell her soul for me to date Tyler," Alexandra said with a smirk.
"You're his best friend, you two are basically attached at the hip with the two blondies, what else does she want?" Damon asked.
"Cute grandchildren and a respectable girl from one of the founding families, too bad the rumors from last year didn't reach her," she said and suddenly she had the entire attention of the four males at the table.
"The what?" Stefan asked, his voice tight and devoid of humor.
Alexandra laughed nervously, "Uh… there was a rumor, do you really want to know this? We have visitors," she said gesturing to the Mikaelsons.
"I'm sure they can keep a secret," Damon said, his face devoid of emotion.
"I made out with a senior last year under the bleachers, he began telling everyone at school that I slept with him and that I was a slut, I beat him up, Matt and Tyler tried to hold me back, then they beat him up too," she said quickly.
"And now he's dead," Damon said standing from his chair and vamping out of the dining room.
"Uncle Stef?" Alexandra asked.
"Yes, dear?" Stefan asked smirking.
"Aren't you going to, you know, stop uncle Damon from killing people?"
"At this point I'm inclined to help him," Stefan said, his face serious again.
Alexandra ran a hand through her hair and looked at the Mikaelsons that had somewhat amused looks on their faces.
"I understand your uncles," Elijah said.
"We have a sister, and if a man were to insult her honor," Klaus began saying.
"I'm sure that she could kill him by herself because she would be an independent vampire lady that doesn't need no man to defend her honor," Alexandra said glaring at him.
Klaus chuckled, "You two would get along greatly."
"Can't wait to meet her," Alexandra said with a smile at the same time that her phone rang, it was Tyler, "Hello? No… did you, for fuck's sake, Uncle Mason too? Are they for real, torture? What? No way, please tell me you're not joking, how?... No, never… I swear, cross my heart Ty, I would've told Care at the very least... A social construct, we've discussed this… … He's dead, so very dead and Damon won't get to kill him because I will."
Alexandra ended the call and growled, "Gentlemen, excuse me, I have to kill someone."
She stood from her chair and stormed outside, she was quickly joined by Elijah, Klaus and Stefan, they too looked angry.
"Do you know where he lives?" Stefan asked, Alexandra nodded.
"By the small flower shop in the 27th," she said, Stefan nodded and picked her up and vamped away.
Elijah and Klaus were quick to follow.
When they arrived there Jake was outside talking to another guy, Stefan placed Alexandra down and she walked up to the guy and delivered a clean punch to his nose, a very pleasant crunch followed. She then kicked him in the stomach and elbowed him in the back until she had him on the floor all bloody and looking at her in surprise.
"You disgusting little fucker," she growled before she jumped him and continued her onslaught.
Damon and Mason arrived at the house and noticed Stefan, Elijah and Klaus standing nearby, their eyes focused on something, as they got closer, Damon could smell blood and realized that Alexandra had the fucker on the floor and was delivering the asskicking of the year.
"She can pack a punch," Mason said.
"She's a black belt and a boxer, she most definitely can," Stefan said.
"She also has the spirit," Klaus commented.
"Should we draw sticks on who gets to kill him?" Mason asked, the four vampires looked at him, "What? She's Tyler's best friend, as far as he's concerned she's the sister he always wanted, his words not mine, she's my honorary niece."
"Compel the friend," Elijah told Damon, the raven haired vampire nodded.
Damon compelled the friend to leave and join a seminar, Klaus had to hide a smirk as he continued to look the beating that Alexandra was delivering, he approached her and pulled her up and took a step away from the bloody guy. She was a wild vision, her green eyes burning with anger and her face smeared with the blood of her enemy, almost poetic.
"How do you wish for him to die, love?" Klaus asked her.
"In lots of pain, preferably torn apart piece by piece," she answered, arms crossed, she looked up at Klaus and her eyes softened a fraction, "if only you could become a wolf and eat him."
"Oh, but tonight I could, love," he said with a smirk.
"Or perhaps we could turn him into a vampire and have Mason bite him, sentence him to the slow and painful death of a werewolf bite," she said, Klaus patted her hair.
"I like how you think, love, what do the uncles have to say?" Klaus asked turning to the other men.
"Painful," Damon said.
"Traumatic," Stefan answered.
"No mercy," Mason interjected.
Klaus smirked and looked at Elijah, "Let's tie him to a tree near where the sacrifice will happen, let him have the honor of being my first kill."
"Of course, brother," Elijah said.
Alexandra had walked into the house alone, since she couldn't invite the vampires inside and moved to Jake's room, she took a deep breath before she decided what she was going to do, his mother had died and only his dick of a father remained, she paced until she found his computer, it was unlocked and she was quick to peruse through it until she found the pictures that she was looking for, there were tears in her eyes as she realized that she had been a little stupid. She erased the pictures from the computer and then from its very existence to everyone that he had shared it with. The next person to open those pictures would get its computer infected with a virus.
Once she was done she walked downstairs and went to the kitchen, she found a gallon of gasoline under the sink and smile, she rummaged through the cabinets until she found a box of matches, she walked back upstairs and began pouring gasoline on the floor of all the bedrooms and then walked down still pouring gasoline, she walked to the main door and outside to the porch where Klaus was standing, she smirked at him as she threw the empty container inside and stood next to him.
"Love, what are you doing?" he asked, her smirk grew as she lit a match and threw it into the house.
Klaus was quick to pick her up from the porch and vamp towards the driveway where Mason, Damon, Stefan and Elijah were waiting, the fire was instant and when Jake noticed he looked at Alexandra.
"You're crazy!" he shouted at her, she turned to look at him and grinned cruelly at him, managing to look intimidating because of the blood on her face.
"And you're a dead man walking," she said before turning to Damon.
"His father should be dead too, just fyi," she told Damon, the raven haired vampire nodded.
"Make sure she gets home," he told Mason, who nodded, then he looked at Stefan and tilted his head.
The Salvatore brothers vamped out of the scene.
"I believe that we shall meet tonight for the sacrifice?" Elijah asked Alexandra, she nodded at him.
"Thank you," she said softly.
"No need, Alexandra, we would have loved to be able to do more," Elijah assured her, she smiled at him.
She looked at Klaus and smiled at him, he winked at her before he picked up an unconscious Jake, "See you tonight, love."
"Let's get you home," Mason said passing his arm around her shoulder, "Call Tyler."
Tyler and Matt were glad to learn that Jake was going to be dead by the end of the night, Mason left Alexandra at the Boarding House since he had to head to the Lockwood cellars to meet with Jonah, he pulled her into a hug and assured her that it didn't matter.
She took a long bath, submerging herself in almost scalding water trying to not feel as dirty as she felt. She picked a black outfit and let her hair dry naturally, she also decided on a leather jacket. When she walked downstairs to the parlor, Stefan was already there and pulled her into a hug as he saw her.
"That means nothing, you know that," he said into her hair, she nodded against his neck, "you're more than whatever that jerk thought of you, there's no guy in this world who deserves you."
"I'll have to join a convent then," she joked as she let go of Stefan, he laughed and pressed a kiss to her forehead.
"I'm sure you don't have to be so drastic, I've seen the way you've been looking at Klaus," Stefan said with a small smile.
"Kill me now, please," she said, Stefan laughed.
"So you do like Klaus," Damon said entering the parlor, Alexandra facepalmed.
"You guys are too nosey, mind your business," she said, crossing her arms.
"You are our business, remember? I killed Zach, I must atone for eternity," Damon said with a smirk.
"You were funnier when you were trying to kill me," she told him and stuck her tongue out at him.
"Nonsense, we're a big, happy family now," Damon said, "We murder people together, we commit arson together, the usual Sunday."
"Well you're vampires, can't fight your nature," Alexandra said, Damon smiled at her and placed a hand on her shoulder.
"We're Salvatores, that means no one gets to mess with us, ever," Damon said.
The moon was shining brightly in the sky when the Salvatores arrived to the Quarry. Alexandra had spoken with Matt, Caroline and Tyler who were in Caroline's house and would spend the night there once Alexandra joined them. Brady, the vampire and Elena were also there, inside rings of fire, as were Maddox and Greta and surprisingly Jenna and Alaric.
Jenna hugged Alexandra as she saw her and explained to her that she had been with Alaric and Mason when Damon had arrived earlier, she thanked the kind woman and allowed herself to be pulled into another motherly hug. Jenna complimented her look and smiled at her as they waited for the Mikaelsons to arrive.
Klaus and Elijah arrived shortly after, they said their hello's and then explained the sacrifice to Jenna, Stefan promised that he would get Elena to safety once everything was over and so before Klaus began, Alaric escorted Jenna from the Quarry.
"Be ready to run when the sacrifice is over," Elijah warned Damon.
"We know, Alexandra said that he would remain a wolf for two days, keep that in mind," Damon said.
"She cares for him," Elijah said casually, Damon smirked.
"And hybrid or not, original vampire or not, sirelines or not, I will find a way to kill him if he ever hurts her," Damon promised, Elijah nodded solemnly at him.
"I shall let my brother know," Elijah said, Damon nodded at him.
Damon looked at Alexandra and Stefan that were speaking hushedly and laughing, they looked so alike sometimes that Damon wondered how different their lives would have been if Alexandra had been their sister instead of their niece. Stefan fished a scarf from his pocket and wrapped it around Alexandra, the girl laughed and tried to push him away from her.
He also noticed Elena looking at them too, he could see every emotion easily in her face and while she was not Katherine he could see that she was not that far from the mold. His attention went back to Alexandra and Stefan they were still smiling, Stefan pointed to something up in the sky and Alexandra looked up and pointed to another thing and they laughed again.
"Seeing your family at peace is the most welcomed feeling," Elijah said.
Damon took a flask from his pocket and drank before offering it to Elijah, "I tried to kill her, several times."
Elijah was surprised by that revelation but drank from the flask to hide it, "May I ask why?"
Damon shrugged, "She was cocky, still is, when I arrived back here thinking Katherine was in the tomb she would always be around and she was never afraid of me, when I killed her dad she was angry, she staked me, almost killed me that night and told me that we were even, then she saved me from the council when they tried to round up vampires and that same night her best friend had an accident, it was the first time I saw her looking so lost, Stefan said that when I killed Zach she was devastated, but I only saw her anger back then, I realized that she was still young, despite everything she still needed her family."
"So you vowed to protect her," Elijah said, Damon nodded.
"Forever," Damon said softly.
"We are about to start," Maddox informed them, the two vampires nodded.
Damon and Elijah took several steps back and were joined by Alexandra and Stefan.
"I wish I'd brought my camera, the night is beautiful tonight," Alexandra said.
"Your friend is about to be sacrificed, Alexandra, tact," Damon chastised her gently.
"And she'll be alive tomorrow morning feeling sad for herself, woe is me, Uncle Damon," she said with a smirk, "We'll hold a small funeral for her, Care's bringing cake."
"Sensitivity, anyone?" Damon asked and Alexandra laughed.
The witch, Greta, began chanting, placing the moonstone in the ceremonial bowl, and all the flames began rising higher, the first to go was Brady, Klaus removed his heart quickly as the werewolf tried to attack him. He handed the bloody heart to Greta and asked if the spell was working, she assured him that it was. The vampire was next, Klaus staked it through the heart and watched as it died as Greta continued to chant as she poured some of the vampire's blood in the bowl.
Elena was the last, Klaus offered his hand to her and she took it trembling, he removed her hair from her neck and bit her without much preamble. He drained her body dry and Stefan was there to catch it before it hit the ground. Stefan nodded at the Damon before vamping out with Elena from the Quarry.
"I can feel it, I can feel it!" Klaus screamed.
Greta finished the spell and nodded at Elijah before leaving with Maddox and Jonah, their vehicle was nearby so they'd be safe. Alexandra, Damon and Elijah watched in fascination as Klaus' bones began breaking. He was screaming in pain.
"Time to go," Elijah told Damon, the raven haired vampire nodded at him before picking Alexandra up and getting the hell out of the Quarry.
"It's done," Alexandra announced as she walked into Caroline's bedroom.
Matt and Tyler were playing Wii and paused the game to gape at her.
"Should we be doing something?" Matt asked.
"Stay in for the next two nights, Klaus is a wolf and though he's far there's no telling if he'll make it into town," Alexandra explained.
"I spoke to Bonnie, she and her grams are certain that the spell will work," Caroline said.
"Perfect, are we still on for Elena's not Funeral tomorrow?"
"Of course, I ordered the cake, everything will be done for tomorrow," Caroline said with a grin.
"Fantastic."
Next morning the four friends picked Bonnie up and went to Elena's house. They first apologized for John's death, at the end it had been his choice and he had spent his last few days with his daughter so he had gone in peace. They ate the cake and stayed with her during the remainder of the day, gossiping and catching up with each other, Elena and Bonnie were surprised to learn that Alexandra had kissed Klaus, or that Tyler and Matt had helped Mason with the werewolves.
"We've had our ups and downs," Alexandra began saying as the seven of them, Jeremy included, were seated on the floor of Elena's living room, "we've been mean to one another, insensitive, prideful, judgy, envious, selfish, unhelpful, inconsiderate, but we've managed to remain friends, to look out for each other despite what we've faced in these past few months, we've stand next to each other in our hardest moments; in life and death, in our losses and our gains and we'll continue to do so, because there are some things that leave a mark and this is ours, to us," Alexandra lifted her shot glass.
The other six did the same.
"To being turned into a vampire in a weird revenge plot," Caroline said first.
"To being related to werewolves," Tyler continued.
"To being a witch,"
"To being related to a family of vampire hunters."
"To being kidnapped accidentally," Alexandra said, "just kidding, to having two vampire uncles."
"To being dating one of the vampire uncles," Elena joked, they all laughed, "kidding, to being a doppelganger."
"To being the only normal person in a town of psychos," Matt joked, they booed him before downing their shots.
After spending the day at Elena's the group dispersed and each went their ways, Alexandra returned to the boarding house. Stefan and Damon were having a drink in the library and she joined them, she talked about her day to them and they had a homely dinner courtesy of Damon.
