Chapter 7
Ever truly Redeemed?
More insanity and character personality. So basically I am revising these last two chapters due to feeling unsatisfied. So I tried to tweak it. Thanks and R&R)
It's late afternoon when the front door slams shut behind the second to last born son of Kain, Zephon. He's covered in lettuce and cheese with a sauce packet stuck to the front of his chest reading; "Tell your mom I said hi."
" I am never feeding another old person for as long as I live."
Looking around and seeing how empty the downstairs was Zephon decided to call it a day with a movie and take-out when De Joule, the energy guardian walked downstairs.
"Oh man, I thought I was by myself..." the spider lord growled putting away his phone and throwing the towel on his plans.
"Get over yourself, I'm not here to spoil your fun I was checking to see if Malek came back." Dejoule looked out the window and frowned not seeing the Conflict guardians vehicle in the parking lot.
Few members of the Legacy of Kain cast owned a vehicle; meanwhile some took the bus, walked, and/or mooched off a ride. R.I.P the vehicle owners; Kain, Vorador, Mortanius, Sebastian, Bane, Azimuth, and Umah. (We're not going to say Janos because we don't know how the car thing is working out.)
"Why would you be looking out for Malek?" Zephon got his phone out and started to dial Panda Express delivery. "He's one of the most unstable guys I know; people light up when he leaves the room."
Leaving the window, Dejoule turned to Zephon turning a light shade of red. "I just want to check; he's supposed to drop me off somewhere."
Shaking his head Zephon gave his order over the phone, and turned from the energy guardian.
Deciding that it was getting late Dejoule took out her flip phone and messaged Malek.
"Are you still coming?"
Waiting for a response Dejoule turned and looked at Zephon who seemed to be having a conversation with the Panda worker.
"So let me get this straight you can make me a noodle pizza for only 20 dollars?"
"That's disgusting..." The Energy guardian curled her lip thinking about the epitome of noodles on pizza; Zephon flipped her off in response and continued.
"I mean if you say you can do it by all means; I'm a dedicated follower of Pizza."
Sighing heavily Dejoule sat on a nearby sofa when she felt her phone buzz; quickly she opened the message.
"I have plans tonight."
...
"You said you would."
...
"No sorry."
Feeling crushed Dejoule threw her phone on a nearby table and tried to conceal her hurt. Being the master of manipulation Zephon sensed it instantly and threw himself on the sofa next to her while smirking.
"Got stood up tonight hmm? Looks like you might need a little company."
"I don't want your company." Dejoule turned from him teary eyed and crossed her arms defiantly. She didn't like where this was going; she'd heard about Zephon, son of Kain being two-faced. Charming one moment and sadistic the next.
Chuckling Zephon put his arm around the guardian, "Oh come on just because we're different species doesn't mean we can't co-exist."
Zephon was getting a little too close for her comfort and even if she was a superiority born human guardian, Dejoule wasn't good at handling sensitive situations like these.
"Zephon, can you please leave me alone?"
"You haven't been this close to another guy before have you?" Just as Zephon was about to plant his lips a ragged blue hand grabbed him by the shirt collar
"She said leave her alone, Zephon."
Looking up he saw his eldest brother, Raziel giving him a fierce glare and most definitely cock-blocking him.
"Raziel, why do you always have to ruin my fun?"
Sighing Raziel frowned and motioned Dejoule to leave; which she did gladly.
"Just because she's vulnerable doesn't mean she wants you."
Zephon stuck out his tongue, "Your just mad because I almost banged..."
The blue wraith shut his eyes annoyed, "Zephon I've banged more just using my finger in one night; than you have have being anatomically correct."
Walking away from his younger idiot brother, Raziel went upstairs leaving Zephon looking disturbed.
"I don't even want to know what he does without it..." Angrily the spider lord threw his head back knowing Raziel would most likely tell Kain about his seduction of Dejoule.
"Man, I could've tapped that.
(Earlier in the Day: At the Park)
Louise and Azimuth are sitting on a park bench watching children play on a swing set. They see several parents sitting on benches nearby: looking at their phones.
"Dear Lord, all these people looking at their phones, makes me wonder if they forget they have children." Azimuth crossed her arms and shook her bald head disagreeably.
Louise nodded and sighed. What she would not do to take her own child to the park and play with them all afternoon.
"Something on your mind, Mrs. Kramer?" The host almost said no, but she could not deny that her heart was heavy with desire.
"I want something, Azimuth, but I don't think Jack would go along with it."
Not saying anything, the guardian waited for Louise to continue but she had some sense of where the conversation was going.
"What makes you think he'll deny your request?"
Louise put a hand over her chest and clenched her yellow sweater tightly as if it would suddenly rip off at any moment. "Because he made up his mind not long after we were married about what he wanted."
Looking towards the park once more, Louise took her hand off her sweater and bowed her head in guilt. "Is it wrong to want more than what we have right now?"
Azimuth glanced sympathetically toward Louise before answering; this question could make or break Louise's heart. Quite literally, the dimension guardian caught wind of what the ailing host's condition was. Anyone would agree that heart disease was not a laughing matter.
"Honestly, Mrs. Kramer it's not my place to say..."
Louise reached for Azimuth's hand and lightly squeezed, "Please don't hold back."
Azimuth hesitated but decided to voice her opinion. "I think if you are aware of the consequences and still set on what you want then you should talk to Mr. Kramer about your decision. Of course, he must agree as he plays a part in this also, but overall if this is what will make you happy then he shouldn't be able to say no."
Louise felt relief wash over and gently let go of Azimuth's hand. "I'm sorry about this; it's just I've been wanting to talk to Jack about this for a while, but he always seems to keep himself busy when the subject comes up. I just feel like he is running from the inevitable."
Azimuth's eyes widened as she suddenly had an idea; a bold one but twice as foolish. "Louise, what would you say if I told you that maybe I had a solution for your dilemma?"
(Back to the Present)
Louise had excused herself to go and shower, leaving Azimuth to head up the main stairs that led to the bedrooms. She went down to the left hall and to the last door of the hallway and knocked.
"Come in."
Azimuth opened the door and saw Mortanius the Necromancer sitting at a desk writing something in his record book with a spine coiled pen when he looked up and shrank back at the sight of Azimuth.
"Oh Jesus, Get out."
"But Morty..."
"Stop calling me that; it was a one-time slip, and yet you continue to call me "Morty" and got a tattoo; which I asked you not to show in public!"
Azimuth smirked and took off her sweatband while walking over to the nervous Necromancer. "I don't know why you act like you don't enjoy my company."
"Because you're ridiculous and have little regard for my well-being." Mortanius frowned and went back to his writing. "Besides what are you doing in my room?"
"I have a proposition for you, Mortanius."
He stopped what he was doing and looked at his fellow guardian. "Az, for the millionth time I'm not bringing your cat back."
She crossed her arms annoyed, "Morty, what have I told you about jumping conclusions?"
"And what have I told you about making deals behind my back? I told you I am a good guy..."
"Oh, yes I know a lot of "good guys" that resurrect mad nobles and make them corrupt legends."
Mortanius slammed his record book shut. "Hey that's my son you're talking about!"
Azimuth waved off the Necromancer, "And not to mention that little cult you had going on, and the fact that you were the one that murdered Ariel."
"Nobody remembers that..." Mortanius looked away from her agitated. True, Mortanius was not painted in bright colors, but there was not any reason to point out that his blood was black. What did anyone expect from a death guardian? Not everybody liked death; it was seen as a curse and yet a bitter-sweet release from whatever torture a mortal's life had to offer.
"I'm just saying at this point how is a little question about someone's fate going to hurt anyone?"
Mortanius arched an eyebrow, "You said you had a proposition; meaning you seek more than an answer."
Azimuth sighed before giving in. "It's about Louise..."
Mortanius shook his head and crossed his arms. "I know exactly what you're talking about; it's appeared in my records and quite honestly it's none of your business."
The Dimension guardian huffed at his response. She figured just as much, but as they say: a guardian's curiosity kills the citizens.
"So, tell me, who lives?"
Mortanius sighed and opened his record book again before turning a few pages. Very few knew what his job consisted of. Taking record of individuals' death before they occurred and tending to the dead's last rites; but this was breaching his ethics.
"You shouldn't have gotten involved; are you trying to get us thrown in the street?" Frowning Mortanius stood up from his chair and stretched; taking some satisfaction from seeing the scowl appear on Azimuth's face. "You're putting an innocent women's heart in your hands at the cost of 50 of your acquaintances."
Exasperated Azimuth threw her hands up, agitated at her fellow guardian and left his room.
"Finally, some peace and quiet."
But even as he lay back on his bed and stared at the ceiling something told Mortanius that this would not be the last time he heard of this conversation. As hard as it was to bounce from the failed game opportunity of "Nosgoth" he highly doubted they would be able to rebound from getting thrown out from the only shelter that they had all been taken into.
"Why couldn't have I killed Moebius instead. And I could have slept with De Joule, but she has that crush on Malek...
Going over the would have, could have, and should haves Mortanius slowly fell asleep; secretly dreading what was soon to come.
(Thank you for reading and sticking with me on this story. As this is a parody every story needs a little drama and conflict. Hopefully, this chapter did some justice. Take care and see you soon. R&R)
