control! Control… rosemarie Hathaway mazur. You can do this. Its just a meeting…
okay… so its been 2 days since baba came to meet me… and, I decided to maintain a healthy distance from my amazingly sweet student Dimitri.
Just 'student'.
No flirty adjectives needed.
Okay… just my student Dimitri.
Dimitri got discharged about 12 hours before me, he came to say bye and also gave me his cowboy book to read in case I get bored… I mean, why is he so sweet and caring!
Just a student…
I did read it for a few minutes but then I fell asleep. When I woke up I saw his book wrapped around my arms… I was literally snuggling his book!
This is getting much harder than I expected.
I even got a dream yesterday about Dimitri and I, when I slept in my apartment.
I told baba to stay with me at my apartment but alberta was very kind to give him the guest room at the academy.
I spent yesterday with my baba and my friends… it was all nice, they got me my favourite food and we talked a lot… but something was missing.
Later that evening ivan and viktoria came to see me. it was very nice of them, ivan even thanked me for saving dimitri's life. I really wanted Dimitri to come with them to see me, but according to ivan he was doing his homework. Well… now that I think bout it, its good that he didn't came… If he had come, it would've been very awkward. The less I see him outside the gym, the better.
I looked at myself in the mirror. I was dressed to perfection in my guardian black suit. I wore a grey high neck top inside it, cuz none of my shirts were washed. It did looked professional and decent. I'd paired my outfit with a light blue scarf, hung loosely around my neck. I just wore my solid gold bracelet which I got from baba. I had my black leather boots on.
My hair was tied in a bun, a few strands fell on the side of my face.
I looked like a 'top notch guardian' that people say I am.
I exhaled.
Their was a knock at my door. I rushed towards it and opened my door, and saw old man dressed in a grey tailored suit, with a light blue shawl wrapped around his neck, and his signature gold jwellery.
He smiled at me "anyone can tell you are Abe Mazur's daughter when you dress up like that."
"ill take that as a compliment, and you don't bad yourself baba." I said smiling.
He leaned in and gave kissed me on the cheek "whenever people call you Guardian Hathaway Mazur… I feel so proud, kiz."
I couldn't help but smile brightly. I first met old man when I was 17. Just 4 months before my graduation. We didn't start off great. For starters, I punched him in the gut the first time we met, then after 2 months we started talking, without screaming. It was always kinda awkward between us… but now, we are the best father-daughter duo. I took up his surname after some time. We even pair up together whenever we have family fights (with mom). Mom is totally fed up of us, but I know she loves us being together. I never thought I would ever get an actual father… just like the other dhampir kids, I eventually learnt to live without parents. I had great friends, but somewhere in my heart, and life their was this emptiness. But when abe and I started getting along, and everything became perfect with me, mom and abe, that little emptiness was filled.
"now may I know why you are here baba?" I asked him jokingly.
"I heard you have your guardian council meeting… and I was bored as hell. So I thought of giving you a handsome escort." He said proudly.
I burst out laughing, on my dad calling himself handsome. Don't get me wrong, he actually was handsome. But it still sounded funny.
"now cmon before I change my mind" he grumbled.
We walked out of the guardian building. It was high noon (midnight), the classes for the students were almost over. A lot of kids were walking and chatting on the academy ground, where I was walking right now with abe at my side. Some moroi kids saw us and started whispering with each other. I mean, its not everyday you see a dhampir walking side by side with his moroi parent.
I ignored them and turned my eyes in a different direction. Just then I spotted Dimitri. He was talking to a girl... and not just any girl. Natasha Ozera.
She said something to him, he laughed at her words.
I felt a pang of jealousy shot in me.
I have to say… natasha actually was beautiful. She had nice long raven hair. Her skin was pale and she was tall… taller than me…
She didn't had any curves but her icy blue eyes were actually pretty. She was christian's niece. She looked a lot like him.
Dimitri and her looked good together…
"rose?" my father's voice snapped my gaze from Dimitri to him. he was standing a few steps ahead me. I realised that I stopped walking. I felt dimitri's eyes on me. I didn't looked at him.
"are you okay? Why did you stop?" he asked with concern.
I took a moment to answer "im fine…" I said slowly. I closed my eyes and opened them.
I started walking and took one last glance at Dimitri. He was still looking at me, with concern in his eyes. He looked like, he wanted to say something, but stopped himself.
i was still looking at him and I didn't realized where I was going.
I accidentally bumped into someone.
"ow" he muttered.
It was mike Jackson… dimitri's new friend.
I couldn't belive that i was standing their like a lost kid.
"I- Im sorry mike…" I managed to say.
"no problem guardian hathaway mazur" he said smiling sheepishly.
"uh- tell Dimitri to meet me for practise after school" I said to him.
Before even waiting for an answer I walked past him.
Baba followed me, but I didn't stop. I had to get out of there.
"rose!" he called when I entered the building where the meeting was being held. I didn't stop. The picture of Dimitri and Natasha laughing flashed infront of my eyes. I was feeling like a heartbroken jealous high school girl… im not suppose to feel this way!
"ROSEMARIE! STOP" Abe yelled in a stern voice.
I finally stopped. My heart was thumping loudly. What is wrong with me?!
I turned around and saw baba giving me a look. But as soon as he saw me his eyes softened
He walked up to me. I wanted to run again but I didn't. "what's wrong? Are you okay?" he asked.
"I-Im fine baba…" I managed to say.
"look at me rosemarie." He ordered.
I slowly looked at him.
"what happened there? At the ground? Why did you panicked?" he asked softly.
"I didn't panicked I just-"
"you panicked kiz… it was like you were going to have a breakdown. A panic attack to be certain"
"no baba… im fine. Just a little nervous about the meeting. That's all."
"are you sure?"
"yes baba. Ill see you later in the evening."
With that I left our conversation and went straight towards the lift, pressing 8 and trying to get all the jealousy out of me.
Im not gonna feel this way…
Dimitri can do whatever he wants with natasha…
I tried to make my breathing normal.
Even though I denied. I knew that I panicked… I panicked seeing Dimitri with someone else…
Which is totally irrational and childish.
And im NOT a child.
I wont let Dimitri affect me like this.
I ran a light hand over my hair, and smoothed them down.
The elevator door opened and I made my way to the guardian meeting room.
I stepped inside the big meeting room.
It was like a normal office meeting room. A long table in the front with 5 chairs on each side and one in the middle.
Alberta sat on the middle one. Mason, Annabeth, Guardian Specter and Guardian pace were already seated on their seats.
I smiled at them and walked over to my seat which was on the right of alberta. Mason sat in the seat infront of me.
Our seating positions were based on our blood master level. I was level 8 so I sat on the right of alberta, who is the head of the academy's guardians.
Their were total of 11 seats. 1 for alberta, 2 for the oldest guardians in the academy. And the rest 8 for the top blood master guardians (rank wise ofcourse)
It feels good sitting in a real council meeting… and that too sitting with the top guardians… and being a top guardian.
The rest of the guardians arrived quickly and the meeting started.
Alberta went on about the whole attack, telling us the no. of guardians and strigoi that died. I silently prayed for those dead guardian's families.
"now the only question is how the hell did the strigoi broke the wards and attacked us during daytime." Guardian specter spoke up
Their was silence In the room.
"if I may…" I said looking at alberta for permission. She nodded "as you all know that my student, Dimitri Belikov alerted you about the attack."
"yes. We all were very confused when he said buria. We didn't move thinking that it was just a silly joke." Annabeth said "but then he yelled at us to go cuz you were taking on the strigoi army yourself."
I smiled in my mind. Dimitri yelled at the guardians for me… for my safety…
"yes… he and I were retired from the ceremony before you all. We were taking a walk behind the academy, in the forest." I said, trying to keep a straight face. Mason looked kinda infuriated "that's when the weather started getting darker. Like really dark. I think you all noticed it too when you came."
"yes. It was very unusual. It has never happened before." Alberta said.
"well Dimitri told me that he feels magic in the air. It was like when he and mr. ivan zeklos went to the court and the weather was changed magically for some event." I said slowly.
Everyone had a shocked look on their faces.
"rose…" mason spoke up "what are you saying exactly?"
"remember, after graduation when we went to court with lissa, Christian and eddie?" I said "and we were told to guard the badicas' garden party."
"yes. And it was raining that day." He said remembering that day.
"exactly. Queen Tatiana ordered to change the weather… and withing 10 minutes it was all sunny. I think this attack not only involves human… but also morois" I said boldly.
"rose… throwing accusations on morois like this is not good" alberta said in a stern voice.
"I know alberta but what else reason do we have for the strigoi attacking the academy at 7 am?" I argued "strigois don't have magic once they turn. And that day it certainly felt like their was magic in the air. It was not natural."
"are you sure that moroi's helped the strigois in this attack?" guardian Jackson asked
"not just any moroi. The ones who are perfectly skilled in air, water and earth." I said.
"well rose whatever you're saying is reasonable. But I don't think headmistress would like to give this statement to queen Tatiana." Alberta said.
"well then what other reason do we have? That now the strigoi can magically come out during daytime?" I sprang up from my chair and said " this is the only reason we have right now. The only theory. Tatiana is pressurising Kirova and the guardian council for answers. We have to tell her something."
Alberta took a deep breath.
I hated screaming or arguing with alberta. She was like a second mother to me. but we have to give a reason to the royal court for this attack.
"lets have a vote. All in favour of Rosemarie Hathaway Mazur's statement." Alberta said.
Surprisingly a lot of hands went up…
Mason, Annabeth, Guardian Specter, Guardian Loveta, Guardian Yuri, Guardian pace, even alberta.
"well… ill pass this on to headmistress. Hopefully we still have our jobs tomorrow." Alberta said and got up, and left the room.
She was mad at me… but im like her daughter. ill apologise to her after my session with Dimitri. she cant stay mad at me for long.
"this changes everything rose." Mason said in a low voice.
Strigoi attacking in daytime…
Chaos were really about to break out…
"yes, it does." I said "but don't worry, we'll survive. We always do."
He smiled at me sadly and left the room. I looked at the time, it was 2:45 am
Dimitri's class must've ended by now… I really didn't wanted to go but I have to. Im his mentor.
Ill not put his training at risk because of my irrational feelings.
I quickly got back to my apartment and changed into my white gym pants and light pink tshirt. I really wanted to work out, but I promised lissa that I wouldn't until im fully "recovered".
Im feeling kinda tensed, I would've to talk to Dimitri… which I havent in 2 days.
Then I started thinking bout what we'll do today. I told him that we'll do advance training… so maybe we can do some weightlifting and ill show him the proper ways for punching and kicking.
I made my way to the gym. The lights were on which means that Dimitri was already there. As I was about to open the door I heard girl giggling. The voice was coming from inside.
I know its bad to eavesdrop but I always do bad things…
I quietly opened the door, just a little bit to see who was laughing. It was natasha ozera, with Dimitri… ofcourse. "I cant believe it dimitri! you guys had so much fun in the outside world." She exclaimed.
Dimitri laughed and said "well not always but their were times where it was truly amazing."
"I bet it must've sucked when guardian mazur's team brought you back to the academy." She said rubbing his biceps with her hands.
Get your hands off him bitch!
I was getting mad and angry… soooo angry.
Dimitri looked uncomfortable but didn't told her to keep her hands to herself.
"it did… but well atleast now im getting trained by the best guardian ever." He said in a nice tone, which did made my temper go down a little.
"what is she like? Rose Hathaway Mazur? Is she strict? People say she's a goddess. Like a total Turkish goddess. You know there are rumors that she has soo many molnija marks on her body. I cant believe she's 24… she looks younger than her age don't you think. I bet it's the makeup. Or some cosmetic surgery from her rich dad's money. she's such a fake. I don't know why my uncle is always saying so good about her… but she always calls him pyro or fire crotch. Whenever I say anything bad about her to uncle Christian he always tells me not too." Natasha kept on talking about me.
But the only thing that surprised me was why Dimitri wasn't saying anything. Did he also thought I was fake? That I lived off my father's money?
I couldn't take it anymore.
I burst through the doors.
They both looked startled.
I seriously wanted to beat the living crap out of a boxing bag or natasha ozera
From his looks I knew that Dimitri knew that I heard their whole conversation.
I walked straight towards natasha, it took me all my self control to not punch her, she was christian's niece. I couldn't do that "miss ozera" I said in a very calm voice "I think you have better things to discuss than my fakeness, or my marks… or my father, with my student."
"rose-" she said
I interrupted her
"guardian hathaway mazur" I corrected her
"right… I was just talking to Dimitri." she said shrugging
I was really holding myself from punching her.
"havent you talked enough with him in the school ground?" I mocked her.
"i-"
"miss ozera. You are interrupting my training session. I request you to leave." I said calmly.
She glared at me and then walked away, slamming the door shut behind her.
I looked up at Dimitri, trying my best to not show that I was hurt.
"rose i-" before he could complete I said "30 laps around the ground. And if you don't finish in 45 minutes, you find yourself another mentor."
Oh shit what did I just said… it was so rude and stupid.
DPOV-
Did she just… did she just told me to choose another mentor?
What was wrong with her?
A few hours ago, it looked like she would have a panic attack. And now this…
"roza are you okay?" I asked gently touching her arm.
She flinched at my touch which broke me.
I looked in her eyes. She was hurt.
"im okay… now.. 30 laps" she said in a stern voice.
I let my hand drop.
I went outside and started running fast. I had to do 30 laps in 45 minutes.
The whole time my mind was on rose. Why was she acting so weird… did I do something?
Then it struck me… the conversation.
Tasha's words about rose… she obviously heard it. God I hate myself for not saying anything to tasha!
i saw rose leaning against the doorframe with her phone in hand. Her eyes where on me but they felt a thousand miles away.
I quickened my pace. After what seemed like forever. I finally completed my laps.
I walked towards rose but she went inside and started putting on gloves, she threw a pair towards me when I entered. I caught them and put them on.
"why did you say that?" I asked her slowly.
"said what?" she questioned
"that I can find another mentor…"
She stopped and stood for a moment then turned around facing me "I don't want to waste my time on just anyone Dimitri" she said in a guardian tone. She had no emotions… on her face and in her words.
"you mean you're wasting your time with me?" I questioned
"you tell me Dimitri… am I ?" she asked mockingly.
"I think you're just acting weird all of a sudden." I said and regretted my words as soon as I spoke them.
She gave me a deadly stare and started walking towards me "if you think that you're not wasting my time then prove it. Show me that you're worth it." She said in her stern guardian tone.
"where is this all coming from? Are you okay… did I do something to hurt you?" I asked her with concern.
Her face soften a little.
"no.. you did not hurt me… you cant hurt me Dimitri." she said
That's right… I cant hurt her. Im just a student to her…
"then what happened?" I said in a pleading voice.
She looked up at me and smiled sadly. I love seeing her smile but this smile was making me hate myself for some reason... "nothing…" she said in a low voice "cmon… lets start with training."
After that we didn't speak of this the whole session. Or of anything as a matter of fact.
Rose taught me the correct ways of how to throw a punch and a kick. Their were moments when she had to come and turn or set my fist in the right position, which involved us making physical contact.
We would look each other for a while, then she would step back and we would go back to training.
I have to admit, the way rose taught me how to punch and kick someone correctly was much easier to understand and learn than what stan or mason had taught us when I was 16.
"that was easy." I said
She smiled, which felt really good inside.
"now we spar." She announced.
She chose offensive, I chose defensive.
We began circling each other on the mats. She lunged forward but I blocked her hands and kicked her on the stomach, trying my best not to hurt her. She tumbled a little but gained control over herself in a millisecond "you're going great. Just don't hold back!" she said throwing a punch at me.
I ducked and punched her on the arm. Hard.
She didn't move.
We began throwing punches, kicks… kicks, punches at each other in a sync.
Our bodies were going in a rhythm. Music and lyrics…
It was going great until I made a mistake to attack her from behind, she immediately hooked her hand in my shoulder and judo flipped me down. She fucking judo flipped me… how did she manage to do that!
Before I could understand what was happening she was on top of me her legs were pressing mine. Her hands were grasped around mine, she held them above my head in a tight lock. Her face was just above mine…
She was breathing heavily, so was I.
Her hair which was in a ponytail had come loose. Drops of sweat were falling down her face. Her eyes were staring right into my soul.
She is so beautiful.
Even though this thoughts arent good… but I didn't wanted her to pull away.
I just wanted to free my hands and grab her face and kiss those plump lips…
I felt her hold on my hand loosen, she didn't made her strigoi killing move yet, which means that I had a chance. Even though I hated to change our position… I wanted to win this time. I freed my hands and in one move I flipped us over.
Rose was on the mat this time, I was hovering over.
She had a look of total surprise and shock.
She tried to free herself but I pressed my body against her to hold her in one place, but I was careful not to crush her cuz of my big body.
I really prayed to god that rose doesn't feel my*ahem* parts…
Why was she so beautiful? And why did she had to be 24?
I spent my whole day talking to my old friend tasha… she is also good looking with her long raven hair and icy blue eyes and tall built. But rose was beautiful… she was a Turkish goddess…
Her long hair which feels like silk, her eyes which looks straight into my soul, her amazing curves… her big heart, her voice, her fighting skills, her laugh, her smile… they always awestruck me…
I balled my fists like im holding a stake and bought it just over rose's chest.
"I win." I whispered. My voice husky.
She had a very loving look in her eyes… or maybe im just hallucinating…
She gave me a small smile.
We pulled back.
I got up and offered my hand to her.
She took it, but as I was about to pull her up she pulled me down.
Somehow, I fell on my butt.
She burst out laughing.
"not funny" I grumbled. He laughed even more. Her laugh was such a melody.
"sorry comrade." She said between her laughs.
She said my nickname after 2 days… it felt good.
She stopped laughing at looked at me.
"so… I had a guardian council meeting.." she said in a low voice.
"I figured… you were wearing your guardian outfit" I said, in which you looked gorgeous.
"yeah so I told them what you told me…"
"you did?"
"yup… they were all very confused, but well we had to give Kirova some reason right? the royal court is growing restless… and queen bitch is demanding reasons, why the fuck strigoi attacked the academy during daytime. So we're giving them this reason, so that they can stop pissing us off." Rose said.
She looked so cute when she cursed.
"and this all is confidential… so you will not tell anyone. Do you get that? Not tasha or viktoria or ivan.."
I nodded.
She smiled. "and I think you should call your mom."
I grew a bit worried at mama's mention. "why? Is she okay?" I asked her
"yeah… baba told her that their was an attack at the academy. So I think you should talk to her… she must be worried." Rose said softly.
I smiled. I was so thankful to have rose in my life.
I nodded.
She got up and picked up her phone from the floor and handed it to me.
It was unlocked. The wallpaper was changed. It was of 2 kids.
The girl was about 5 and had long brown hair and brown eyes. She had her hands around a redhead boy's neck. He had blue eyes and freckles over his cheeks. Rose was smiling broadly looking at the camera but that boy was looking at rose.
"that's me and mason… when we were 5…" rose said laughing softly.
"it's a very cute picture." I said smiling.
Mason and rose were friends from childhood… no wonder they have such nice friendship.
I dialed my mama's number and saw that it was already saved under the name 'Mrs. Belikov'
I looked up at rose, "you saved her number?" I asked smiling at her reddened cheeks.
"yeah well it'll save you time." She said shrugging.
She's such an angel…
I clicked on her name and instantly the ring started going.
"hello?" mama said on the phone.
I was so happy to hear her voice.
"mama its Dimitri." I said with excitement.
"oh dimka! Are you okay? Is everything all right? how's vika? And ivan? and you're mentor roza? Are you all good? Ibrahim called and told that there was an attack in the academy… and you were in the hospital! Are you all right?" she kept saying.
"mama! Calm down im okay." I said.
She sighed.
"Я рад, что ты в порядке, Димка" (im glad you're okay, Dimka) mama said on the phone.
"как ты мама?" (how are you mama?) I asked
"Я в порядке димка" (im fine dimka) she said laughing softly.
"Роза очень любезна за то, что позволила тебе поговорить со мной" (roza is very kind for letting you talk to me) she said, I know that she was smiling.
"Я знаю свою маму. она спасла мою жизнь" (I know mama. She saved my life) I said.
"что ты имеешь в виду?" (what do you mean?)
"Роза прыгнула перед стригоями для меня" (rose jumped infront of a strigoi for me) I said
"о боже, благослови ее" (oh! May god bless her!) mama said.
"могу я поговорить с ней?" (can I talk to her?) mama asked.
I turned around and saw rose leaning against the wall smiling sweetly at me.
"mama wants to talk to you roza" I said, keeping the phone away from my mouth.
She looked surprised. But then she smiled again.
"I would love to talk to her." She replied
I smiled at her and handed her the phone after putting it on speaker just in case rose doesn't understand anything.
"hello." Rose said on the phone. She looked nervous which was cute.
"hello roza? It olena… nice to finally speak to you." Mama said sweetly.
Rose smiled "likewise mrs. belikov."
"please, call me olena" mama said " thank you for saving my dimka rose."
"please don't thank me olena… Dimitri is my student… and my friend. I had to protect him." she said and looked up at me. I smiled at her. She was too good for this world.
"and its very sweet of you to let Dimitri talk to me…" mama said
Rose blushed a little "well, he is always so concerned about you all… and he's always happy and relax after he talks to you." Rose said slowly.
She knew me so well… no one ever knew me this well, except for my mama…
"what can I do rose, dimka's always been a mama's boy. Its sweet but also irritating at times" mama said on the phone.
Rose grinned.
"mama I can listen you" I shouted at the phone.
Both rose and mama were laughing now and I was embarrassed.
But still it felt good that my mama and roza were getting along well.
"well dimka, rose I should go. Rose thank you again and dimka behave nicely my baby. And take care both of you, send my love to vika and ivan" she said and with that the call ended.
I didn't even realized how much I missed her and everyone.
"hey… you'll meet them soon. its all going to perfect one day" rose said touching my arm.
"hope that day comes soon roza." I said softly.
"it will… just don't loose hope." She said.
I nodded.
She is so nice and caring…
"you know you're too good for this world" I said grinning.
"that I know." She said flipping her hair back in confidence.
We both laughed.
"I should go… lissa need some help with her dresses"she said scrunching up her nose.
"hmm… I think I have somewhere important to be too." I said. smirking in my mind.
She nodded and we made our way out of the gym.
She went towards lissa's building and I went straight towards the moroi building to meet my best friend and his new- old girlfriend, whose also my dear little sister.
I climbed up the stairs and stood infront of ivan's room listening closely to the noise coming from inside.
"ha! Ha! I winnnnnn!AGAIN!" some girl screamed from inside, which no doubt was vika.
"hey why do you always win!?" I heard ivan say in a whiney voice.
"cuz im hot!" viktoria said jokingly.
"that you are." Ivan said, certainly not in a joking way.
I knocked on the door.
"coming." Ivan yelled
He opened the door, his eyes widened when he saw me.
"who is it ivan?" vika asked him coming towards the door.
"hey little sister." I greeted her, trying not to laugh at her surprised face.
"dimka… what are you doing here?" ivan asked.
"I think its time we have a talk." I said bluntly and made my way inside his room.

Well well well… that was a pretty heated training session. But also fun right?
And oh my vlad! Was rose jealous!
