Chapter 31

RPOV-
"I'm so sorry! Am I late? I overslept!" I asked Lissa as I busted inside her apartment.
Lissa looked very different than yesterday. Her tall slender body looked amazing in the full sleeves teal green maxi dress she was wearing. Her blonde hair was straightened to perfection and pinned up in a waterfall braid. With a thin gold chain around her neck and a fresh face of makeup, she looked…well- like a princess.
"You always oversleep, Rose" my best friend said chuckling.
"its not funny Liss! Anyway, is Ivan here yet?" I asked her setting my bag on the sofa
"No. But he will be here soon" she replied. I felt her tense "Are you sure we should do this, Rose? I mean- its Ivan's decision whether letting Dimitri know-"
"Its not about, Dimitri" I cut her off "Ivan compelled a Guardian, Lissa. A freaking guardian! I want to know the reason why he did that… and other stuff too."
"What other stuff?" lissa asked, suspiciously eyeing me.
I let out a deep sigh "I want to ask him about his spirit. Lissa I haven't been able to sleep since last night! I want to know how he's feeling and about the darkness!"
Lissa practically threw me out of her house yesterday saying that we will talk about this topic tomorrow. even though my body was tired as hell I couldn't sleep at all last night. all I could do was thing about why Ivan didn't told Dimitri.
The woman infront of me raised an eyebrow "Is that all?"
"I also want to know why he didn't told Dimitri." I finally admitted "Lissa, you had problems declaring magic too, I was there with you at every step, right?"
"Rose, Ofcourse you were! You were always there by my side!" Lissa exclaimed
"When you told me that you could heal things and about spirit, I felt so happy- it was like a big rock lifted up from my heart."
"I know that, Rose. But Dimitri knew that Ivan couldn't declare magic but he doesn't know that Ivan can do spirit."
"And that's exactly what I want to know!" I boomed "I want to know why he didn't told his bestfriend? What made him keep that a secret?"
"Rose, you are just being paranoid" Lissa stated "There's no other reason"
"Yes there is. I can tell there is." I deadpan.
I knew there must be a different reason why Ivan didn't tell Dimitri about his magic. They are the best of friends and obviously Ivan would tell Dimitri if he had declared magic.
There has to be some other reason.
The sound of the doorbell brought me back from my thoughts to the living room.
I got up from the sofa and glanced at the white clock on the wall. It was 8:35 am (pm for humans).
"that must be Ivan" lissa said getting up too "um- he doesn't know you'll be here. I just told him I need to have a word with him before the classes start"
I quickly nodded and lissa went to open the door.
I ran a hand down at my powder blue cotton shirt, pressing out all the small wrinkles.
"Good Morning, Ms. Dragomir" said a voice which I immediately knew was Ivan's.
"Please come inside, Ivan" I heard lissa say.
As soon as Ivan stepped inside, his eyes fell on me. they widened for a second before going back to normal.
He cleared his throat "Guardian Mazur, I didn't knew you'd be here" his tone was calm but I could sense that he was confused.
"Ivan, I think we are way past formalities. Call me Rose" I said and stretched out my hand, gesturing him to take a seat which he nervously did.
"Ivan, im sorry but its not me but Rose, who wants to talk to you." lissa told him
He immediately grew worried "What's wrong? Is something wrong with Dimitri?" his voice was laced with anxiousness.
Ivan cares so much about Dimitri… there is definitely something up otherwise he wouldn't hide such a big thing from his friend.
"No, its not about Dimitri. As a matter of fact its about you"
"About me?" Ivan asked "what about me?"
"I know the reason why you and Dimitri ran from the academy and also about your spirit magic" I said.
His eyes widened at my words. He opened his mouth to say something but nothing came out. He was obviously in shock.
"this was suppose to be between us" Ivan said accusingly at Lissa "you promised me you wouldn't say anything until I was ready!"
Lissa went to say something but I didn't gave her the chance "Lissa didn't tell me, Ivan. I found out on my own, its not her fault."
"I just want to know 2 things ivan" I sat next on the loveseat infront of him
It took a moment before he nodded "Not that you know, go ahead."
"Why did you compelled the Guardian and which guardian?" I questioned, deciding to go with the easy question first.
"I compelled Guardian Bonville" Ivan said in a small voice.
I looked over at lissa standing over next to me. it was clear from her face that she already knew this.
"why did you do that?" I found myself asking.
He looked up at me. He looked… embarrassed more like caught. It could about how he felt bad about compelling guardian Bonville but I believe there was some other reason.
He let out a deep sigh "Are you sure you want to hear?" he asked me which made me confuse.
Why was he asking me that?
I cleared my throat and sat up straighter "I want know why you compelled Guardian Bonville."
"2 days ago, I was on my way to the hospital to take some meds" Ivan was red as a tomato which made me realise about what he was going to say next "I saw you pulling dimka behind the hospital. So I followed- just to check if everything was alright. You guys were *ahem* talking. Before I was about to leave I saw guardian Bonville coming towards us and so…. I compelled him"
Im pretty sure my jaw was touching the floor right now, sensing from the pain that started to build in my jaw.
I don't know whether to thank Ivan or shout at him for compelling a guardian- though guardian Bonville kinda deserves that- but its totally against the rules to compel guardians!
But that doesn't change the fact that Ivan practically saved me and Dimitri. If that day, guardian Bonville saw me and Dimitri in that position, I would probably be fired by now.
"WHAT?" A loud voice filled the silent room.
Shit! Lissa!
she obviously heard all of Ivan's story!
And my best friend is smart enough to put two- and- two together and figure out everything about my "new candy"- as she likes to call it.
I saw Ivan giving me an apologetic look. I cant even blame him for saying that- afterall he did gave me a warning- which I plainly chose to ignore!
"YOU COMPELLED A GUARDIAN BONVILLE TWO TIMES?!" I head lissa yell.
"WHAT!" now it was my time to shout. He compelled guardian bonville 2 TIMES!
"oh yeah- must've slipped off my mind" ivan muttered "I did compel him twice."
"Oh vlad" I muttered, running a hand through my hair in frustration and confusion.
"why didn't you tell Dimitri about all this?" I questioned him all of a sudden. I just couldn't keep it inside me anymore-
"you didn't tell him right?!" Ivan asked – more like begged us to tell him no.
"we didn't" lissa answered
"but we want to know why you never told him anything about spirit. He's your bestfriend, Ivan. he'll be so upset when he finds out!" I said
"I know it'll hurt him a lot- but I just don't want him to put his career at a risk for me again! 2 years ago I told him that I was going to run away from the academy, he knew the reason very well and packed his bags without any word. He kept me safe for two years in the outside world. Dimka was always there at my side, for every little thing. But I didn't realize how much my one decision effected him. He grew distant from his family and never opened up to me. its always been about me and now ever since we came back, Dimitri is more stressed- all thanks to me.
He has a lot to catch up on and other things to figure out. I just cant be a burden on him again! Dimitri knows about the risks of having spirit and if I tell him that I have declared spirit he will always be worried about me and wouldn't focus on his studies and training. I cant ruin his dream of becoming a guardian again."
There was a long silence in the room before I spoke up "but he will know one day"
"I know. But I'm not ready to tell him yet and I know that neither is he." Ivan said.
Even though everything Ivan said seemed believable, I couldn't help but feel that there was something more to the story…
"is there anything else, you're not telling us?" I asked him softly, praying he would say yes so that my heart can stop thumping, but much to my dismay he just shook his head and said no.
"I will tell Dimitri when the time is right. Please don't tell him" he said looking at me.
All I could do was nod.
"Ivan, I think its time you go- the classes will be starting soon enough" lissa said to her student.
He nodded getting up from the sofa "im sorry about that, Rose but I had to do it"
I knew what Ivan was apologizing about and I cant lie and say that im not relieved that Ivan was there and had everything under control.
"oh! Before I forget. This came in this morning" lissa said and went over to her chest of drawers.
She came back with a small package. It looked like a little box under the grey delivery packet.
A small smile spread over Ivan's face as he took the package from Lissa's hands
"Thank you for letting me use your address for ordering this" he said to lissa. She gave him a small nod and smile.
With that Ivan left.
I turned around and saw Lissa with an expression I knew really well.
She was thinking.
And after 19 years of our friendship I knew exactly what she was thinking about.
About what Ivan said about me and Dimitri!
"uh- I think I should go too!" I said quickly picking up my tote bag and slinging in over my shoulder.
"No, Rose wait-"
I heard her say but I was already running out of her wing.
IPOV-
It was about 2:30 In the noon (late midnight for humans)
The classes were over for the day.
As expected, Vika didn't talk to me all day. We did made a few eye contacts but that's what it was.
I wanted so bad to just go over and hug her tightly and kiss her hard until she forgot our fight.
God this woman makes me crazy!
"hey! Mr. Grover is gone! We are all set!" I heard mike say from behind me as he flung open the the record room's door.
I small smile spread across my face.
Viktoria Belikov, I hope you are ready for this one.
VPOV-
As soon as the dispersal bell for the last period rang, everyone closed their books.
"Now, Don't forget that tomorrow is the last day for turning in your Animal Behaviour and Physiology paper!" Mrs. Stella's announcement ringed in the classroom which Im pretty sure no one paid attention to it.
Lucky for me, I was already done with the paper.
As I was done putting all my books in my bang a loud shrill noise came from the speaker in our class.
An announcement? At this time?
That's weird…
"Victoria Belikov, this one's for you" A voice from the speaker said. A voice I knew even in my sleep.
Everyone of my class mates' heads snapped over in my direction.
What the heck is this idiot doing!
Suddenly the sound of violin filled the room.
It didn't took me a second to recognize the song that was playing.
He going to be the death of me!

I couldn't help but let the small smile spread over my face.
I saw all the girls giggling and whispering to each other in a corner about who this guy was.
Little do they know this guy is none other than the Prince Ivan Zeklos.

We heard this song together almost every evening. Ivan always threw tantrums and told me to change the song but I knew he loved this song as much as I did.

Vlad! I love this guy!

Without having any second thoughts I picked up my backpack, slung it over my shoulder and ran out of the classroom.
I have to find him!
The song kept playing as I ran towards the record room, ignoring all the stares from the other students.
I don't have time for them! I need Ivan!
I was completely out of breath when I reached the record room.
The door was completely open and it was empty.
Vladdammit!
Where the hell is guy!
I turned around and collided with a hard body.
Thank vlad! I didn't fell.
I looked up and saw Dimitri and Rose standing there. Rose was in her gym clothes and dimka was still in his uniform.
I'm guessing they were about to go for their practise.
Both of them had a smile over there face. They obviously know about the whole thing!
"D-Do you know w-where Ivan is?" I said out of breath.
"He's standing right where you first met him, Vika." Rose said and winked at me playfully.
Where I first met him?
2 years ago… I met him near the st. vlad's statue.
The academy ground!
I said a thank you and pushed past him, running straight to the ground.
After running down 6 fucking stair cases I finally was out of the building and that's when the song finally ended.
Almost the whole school was gathered in the ground.
I immediately started pushing past the crowd to go to the front. I'm pretty sure I look like a mess because of the running and pushing but I couldn't care less!
As soon as I crossed the crowd my eyes immediately found his beautiful green ones.
He was standing atleast 10 metres away from the crowd.
I noticed the mic in his hand. Damn he is going to be in so much trouble
He gave me a big smile. I couldnt help but mirror his beautiful smile.
"I would like to say something" ivan said on the microphone which made everyone stop with their talking and whispering.
From the corner of my eye I could see Dimka and Rose standing in the crowd and a few guardians behind her. She said something to them to which the 3 guardians nodded quietly.
"Vika" he said, which gave me butterflies all over my body "I think I always knew that… it doesn't matter how perfect I am-or how perfect I think I am, until you came along I was never complete. You are always there for me… in good and in bad, in my happiness and in my sorrow. You are the one I could talk to for hours and never get bored or feel empty. You are the one who changed me into a guy, I never believed that existed. And I would no where be the person I am today- if it weren't for you! 2 years ago, I met a stubborn, straightforward and headstrong girl. A girl with a heart of pure gold. A girl I never thought I would be falling head- over- heels for."
I heard almost everyone gasp behind me. I don't blame them… who knew Ivan Zeklos would fall for a girl…
Fall in love…

I did my best to hold back the tears which were threatening to fall down.
"I could've never imagined myself loving someone, like I do you. Never believed in those 'fairy tales' and 'love at first sight' crap. But that all changed after I met you! You made me believe in love. You are the most beautiful, strong, brave- the most amazing woman I've ever met, Viktoria Belikova. I'm sorry for all the pain and waiting- now I'm going to say it before its too late.
"Viktoria Yeva Belikov, I've loved you since I can't remember when and I'm gonna love you until I forget how"
And that's when everything broke loose.
I could feel the warm tears cascading down my cheeks. I could hear a lot of shouting and clapping from behind me, even some whistles blowing.
Ivan's words repeatedly ringed in my ears.
I let my bag fall before running towards him.
I threw my arms around his neck and jumped on him. His arms snaked around my waist holding me up as I wrapped my legs around his waist. Hugging him tightly.
I couldn't stop the tears falling down and the smile that just kept spreading.
"I love you too!" I said loud enough for everyone to hear and loud noises of shouting and clapping erupted again.
After a moment he set me down on the ground.
"I know it's a bit early bit I just cant waste any more time, baby" he said huskily, which sent shivers down my spine.
What is he going to do?
I saw his right hand into in pants's pocket, taking out a small blue box.
A ring box!
Holy shit!
My hand slapped over my mouth in shock. He is not proposing right now, is he!?
"Ivan I-"
"relax. Its not a engagement ring, just a promise ring." Ivan said before going down on one knee.
Oh vlad! Pinch me if im dreaming!
Actually don't! If it's a dream then I don't wanna wake up- ever!
I looked down at him, his eyes filled with love, a big smile over his face.
No… this is not a dream…
A dream cannot be this perfect!
"Vika, I promise to always be there by your side, and always protect you against every thing- though I think you can kick someone's ass better than me" the crowd chuckled at his joke "I promise to always love you and cherish our relationship"
Someone stop these bloody tears!
"Обещаю заменить это кольцо на обручальное, а потом на обручальное кольцо." He said, which made my heart flutter.
Wait- how the hell does he know Russian?
"Google Translate" he shrugged giving me his silly smile, which made me smile even more.
He opened the box, which revealed a beautiful and simple white gold infinity ring with a small diamond studded between the sign.
"its gorgeous" I whispered which made him smile
"Will you be my Girlfriend?" he finally asked the question I wanted him to ask for ages.
"Hell YES!" I said grinning.
Ivan slid on the ring on my left hand ring finger.
The fit was perfect.
Everything was just perfect!
I looked over at the crowd. Everyone was smiling- well except was abby and her group- but do I care? NO.
My gaze fell on my big brother and Rose. They were both smiling at us from ear-to-ear.
As soon as Ivan got up I grabbed him by his shirt and kissed him hard.
I could hear the sound of clapping woohooing but it all appeared faint in my ears.
I didn't care at that moment.
This moment is for us- just us!
Me and Ivan.
We finally pulled back from our kiss- which I have to say was the best kiss ever!
"I love you, Viktoria Belikov" Ivan whispered brushing his nose against mine.
"And I love you, Ivan Zeklos."
