FrostKitty14: Yes I have the same Username

Morning came quickly. The sun was shining through the broken window of their room. It wasn't as cold anymore. The sun had heated everything up, if only a little. While still half asleep, Hunter felt the warmth beside him, and it felt good.

Hearing the birds sing in the woods wasn't the first thing that Luz and Hunter got to hear that morning. No, it was the sound of someone banging on the front door like a maniac.

Hunter jumped awake, noticing that he had been holding the human for the entire night. And he hadn't even noticed. Never woke up from her moving, because she hadn't. Though she jumped as well when she heard the sound.

Luz yelped and stood up quickly. She didn't even mind that she was only wearing shorts and a shirt. And boy, Hunter could see a lot. She sighed.

"I'll go check that out. You go take a shower" she said, struggling to get her legs into her pants.

Hunter just nodded, preparing for the shower while Luz went downstairs. She yawned and went to open the door. It was so early that she didn't even have to get ready for school yet.

Eda was faster than her though, swinging the door open, slightly annoyed. But it quickly faded when she saw who had knocked.

"Raine? What are you doing here" Eda asked.

Indeed, the head of the Bard Coven was standing in the front yard, panting and slightly panicked. It hadn't been the first time Luz saw them. Raine came to visit sometimes and shared some secrets from the castle whenever they could.

"Eda" they panted, grabbing the other witch by her shoulders and began shaking her. Their hood fell of in the process. "It's terrible! I saw that human girl in the castle just a few days ago. I'm so sorry I didn't come earlier but-"

"Relax, Rainstorm" Eda chuckled, taking their hands from her shoulders, and holding them firmly. "Luz is here" she smiled, turning her head to face the human.

As Luz came around the corner, Raine gave a relieved sigh. They took a deep breath before adjusting their glasses.

"That is a relief. But how did you break out?" they asked.

Luz chuckled. She wasn't sure if she should tell Raine the truth. She had no idea if they knew about Hunters knew attitude. That he broke her out for her own safety and ran away. By now everyone in the castle must be running around, searching for the Golden Guard.

Luz decided to take the chance. "Hunter brought me back" she said, holding her hands behind her back and rocking on her heels.

Eda nodded. "That's right. Blondie got here two days ago with Luz on his back. He explained what happened.

"Did he now" the bard witch narrowed their eyes in suspicion.

"He did. Said he didn't like what was going to happen" Luz nodded.

"Say Rainstorm, do you know what happened? Why Luz was there?" Eda pressed, pulling them further inside the house.

"I do" they nodded. "But I wasn't aware that the Golden Guard had such a big heart. Going against the Emperor takes a lot of confidence. Didn't think he had that" the last part was whispered.

"I don't actually believe that this was all though" Eda said with concern.

"How come?" Raine asked.

"Think about it. The Emperor tells his guards to kidnap Luz. Only to get information on the portal? He should know that she has no idea about it more than its purpose. I know more and he certainly didn't kidnap her only to get to me" she explained.

"That's not all"

Luz turned around to see Hunter standing in the hallway, a towel rubbing through his hair. Flapjack flew after him. Even without the armor, Luz had to admit that Hunter was a good-looking witch. He was above average. Him having trained his body for most of his life certainly helped.

"Golden Guard" Raine greeted him half-heartedly.

"Whispers" he shot back.

The tension was growing. Luz didn't know if they hated each other, but the mood was certainly shifting. She had no time for that.

"What do you mean?" she asked.

"Have you not wondered how these soldiers knew where to find you? You weren't exactly in an open spot" he said, rubbing the spot behind his ears.

"He's right. You went after a hint from that diary" Eda nodded.

Luz hummed, sitting down on the couch. King jumped in her lap, turning a few times before laying back down. She smiled and stoked him. It was still so early.

"I mean, Belos is old right? Maybe he read it long ago" she shrugged.

"Possible" Eda nodded. "But he had to have written all that down to remember it, like you. And even then, how was he supposed to know when you would get to that certain entry of the diary?"

Luz shrugged again. There really was no explanation for that. But there had to be one. The easiest was, that someone had spied on her. Maybe during school or somewhere in between. Who ever it was knew about her going after that clue.

They knew when she was going.

"Is it possible that someone from the Oracle Coven told him?" she asked.

Raine nodded. "It is. The head-witch is very loyal towards Belos, like most witches. If they saw something, they would've told him immediately. But he had to have asked them to search for something that specific."

"Specific?" Luz asked with confusion.

"Oracle magic is very specific. You can look weeks ahead of time itself. If you are talented enough. And the head witch certainly is" they explained.

"So, if Belos asked the head to look for an event where Luz would be alone…." Eda started.

"Then it would be easy to plan ahead" Raine nodded.

"But I honestly don't believe him about using that memory-spell" Hunter shook his head.

"Memory spell?" Raine asked.

"Yes, apparently he intended to erase all of Luz' memory" Eda said.

"I have never heard of such a spell" Raine muttered, seemingly deep in thought.

Hunter huffed, sitting down beside Luz. Flapjack landed on his shoulder. He leaned back, trying to seem relaxed about the whole situation. But Luz knew that he wasn't. Not with the way he reacted yesterday.

"I haven't either. At least, not like this. The spell he wanted to use was for small things. Like unpleasant memories, not the entire brain" Hunter explained.

"Ah" Raine nodded. "I believe I know that spell. Terra uses it sometimes for soldiers. It's a potion" they said.

Hunter nodded. "Yeah, I figured as much."

"Well, that's good and all, but it doesn't explain why he wanted to take the risk" Luz said.

Eda nodded. "It really doesn't. nothing seems to make sense" she grumbled.

Raine sighed. "In that case, I will go back and try to find out more." They turned towards Luz.

"You should stay here for a while. Don't go to school for now. The Emperor doesn't give up that easily."

Luz snorted with amusement. "My friends would totally defend me" she waved them off.

The bard witch nodded. "I have no doubt of that. But I also doubt that they will leave so easily. And if they do fail, they will try again. Stay. Here" they instructed.

Luz blew a raspberry. She hated doing nothing. But for now, it seemed she had no choice. She crossed her arms over her chest but nodded. She could also feel Hunter smirk beside her.

"The same goes for you" Raine said to Hunter.

Who was more than unamused. "Why me?" he protested.

"Oh please. You broke her out, Belos knows that for sure. And he will be searching for you too" Raine rolled their eyes.

"But when I'm somewhere else, then they won't find us that easily" he said.

"No buts, kid. You're staying, that's final" Eda said.

"What the hell? When did you guys become our parents?" he shrieked.

Eda and Raine both blushed. "W-we are n-not" Raine stammered. "We are simply looking out for the both of you."

"That my dear is called parenting" Luz grinned. She gave Hunter a high-five. Though she was surprised he even knew how to do that.

"Ugh, I don't have time for this" Raine groaned. "I will go now. Make sure they don't leave your sight" they said to Eda.

"You know I won't" she winked.

With that, Raine left the house, leaving them in silence. Pulling the hood back up, Raine was on their way back to the castle. Luz huffed with annoyance. She continued to stroke over Kings back.

"Great, we can't leave the house."

Both of them sat on the couch, grumpily looking at the wall in front of them. They spend the day mostly in silence until Luz began to teach Hunter some of her Glyphs. The young witch was more than interested in learning them.

Having no actual magic himself, Hunter found himself drawn to the new knowledge presented to him. It could help him should Flapjack not be around to help him.

She explained every symbol to him. Along with the way her combos worked. She showed him every combo she knew as well. Just to make sure he would know everything that she did. And this way, they could work on new ones as well. Luz was still trying to figure out how to make the invisibility spell work longer.

They talked for hours, not even noticing how late it was getting. Eda was bringing them food and water every now and then but left them otherwise.

Her mentor smiled at the effort she put into her explanations. She was proud of the human and there was no way to hide it. She may have found that way of magic herself, but Eda took great pride in teaching her how to use them in different situations.

They didn't stop talking and studying, trying out new combinations until Eda came back with a cape and a backpack full of potions.

"Where are you going?" Luz asked, finally looking up from her notes.

"Me? To the night market. With both of you" she smirked.

"But you promised Raine-" Hunter started, only to be interrupted.

"To not let you out of my sight. And that you wouldn't go to school for a while" she winked.

Luz sprang up from the couch, hugging her mentor tightly. "You're the best Eda" she squealed.

"I know" Eda grinned.

"But why the night market?" Hunter asked, calmly standing up and trying to sort their notes. From the past hours.

"There is no better way to get information out of idiots than the night market. And I need some more stuff" she shrugged.

"Great! I already told Willow, Gus and Amity to keep their eyes out for anything suspicious" Luz smiled. "And homework."

"Bleh! You actually asked them to bring you homework? I think I failed there" Eda chuckled.

Luz smiled. That was Eda alright. Her personality. Being childish and yet full of power.

"Whatever. Get ready. We leave in then minutes" she declared.

Luz jumped and quickly gathered the notes they had made over the last hours. She threw them in her notebook and grabbed her backpack. Filling it with various Glyphs she had prepared for trips. Fire, ice, plant and light. All were there and ready to be used. Some combos as well, in case they needed to be invisible.

"What if something happens?" Hunter asked.

"Then I will go full harpy-mode and fly us out of there" Eda said with confidence. "No one will dare to come close."

"Right" Luz nodded. "There is no need to be worried."
