Chapter Eleven/ A Day in The Life of The Fujioka Family!

...

...

The house was super run down

Though...even calling it a 'house' might be too generous. It was more of a shack, with a roof that was caving in, and walls that seemed to have collapsed a bit to the right. There were bus skittering around the floor, and cracked windows on the sliding doors were held together by cheap, clear tape. Six, well-dressed, handsome young boys stood shell-shocked in front of the house. One equally well-dressed girl accompanied them, just as shocked as they were.

Even the pavement of which they stood on was cracked. Finally, the girl spoke up.

"Tamaki... are we at the right place?" Sora asked, voice trembling.

The twins stared on in disbelief, "We can't be…" They said together.

But sure enough, the wooden sign on the front door read {Fujioka}. Suddenly, the doors trembled open, a pair of watery brown eyes staring at the seven rich students. All of them jumped back in shock, only to be greeted by a frail-looking Haruhi Fujioka. She smiled shakily, holding the door open with her small hands. "Hey everybody…" She whispered, "Why don't you come on in?"

Ignoring the cold chill in the air, all of the hosts traveled in one at a time. Mori-senpai closed the door behind him, shaking off a large roach that had crawled onto the door's handle. Not wanting to be rude, Sora skipped to her female friend, placing a hand on Haruhi's shoulder.

"Haru!" She exclaimed, giving the best fake smile she could manage "Thanks for having us over!"

Haruhi smiled back, then broke off into a hefty and manly coughing fit. Her cough was deep and nasty sounding, but Sora managed to stay close. Hikaru yanked Sora's arm, "Don't stand so close, stupid!" He put on a medical mask, "You don't know what kind of germs she's spreading!"

Haruhi suddenly stopped coughing, quickly snapping back upwards with a platter in her hands. The action was... creepy, but the girl had a gentle smile on her face. The platter she was carrying had broken bowls and chipped cups on top of it, with green tea in each item "Sorry about that— and sorry we don't have enough cups for each of you"

Each host took a... teacup in hand, reluctantly sipping on the drink inside of them. Kyoya never allowed his lips to make contact with the dirty bowl, instead of hesitating so much that his glasses started to fog up from the heat of the tea. The twins and Sora leaned in to get closer to Tamaki's ear

"Hey boss-" Kaoru whispered, "What's with this place?"

Sora peeked over her shoulder, making sure the creepily-happy Haruhi was paying no attention to them "This place is gross, do you think Haru is just testing us?"

"Yeah, maybe this is just a set!" Hikaru gained an approving, agreeing nod from his brother and Sora "Like in the movies?"

Tamaki shivers "I-I-I hope so!"

The king quickly regained his composure, taking a sip from his measuring cup, "Calm down gentleman… I'm sure it's like Sora said; this is just a test of our true strength! I'm sure Haruhi's real house is just beyond this room."

"Then should we try to find it?" Sora and the twins asked Tamaki in unison. He glared at them

"NOWS NOT THE TIME!"

Haruhi snapped her head back, joints making cracking noises with each turn her head made "Oh, you guys want to eat now? That's good- my dad said since it's lunchtime I'd be rude not to have something to serve you all!" She plopped a plastic container filled with sushi in it in front of the host, who all went white from shock again. "Ta~daaaa" Haruhi went into another coughing fit, eventually wiping her mouth off with her arm "I-It's a fancy sushi sampler! It's was marked off at the supermarket; aren't I a lucky girl!"

Honey-senpai ran away, tears flowing out of his eyes. Sora and Kyoya stared in jealousy as Mori and Honey scrambled out of the front door. Honey screamed as they ran away, "Sorry we came to visit, Haru-chan! Please don't make us eat that!"

Tamaki sadly stared at the remaining members, snapping a pair of chopsticks "Stay strong gentleman! Haruhi bought this just for us!"

Sora wiped away tears, "I'm sorry Yori-chan! Big sis' is never gonna bring home a boyfriend like I promised I would!" Sora swallowed the salmon sushi roll, ignoring the gagging of her throat.

"Boss, I'm not even sure this is real fish!" Kaoru cried out, causing Hikaru to spit whatever he was chewing out onto his napkin. Kyoya, who had been quietly chewing on something, suddenly went limp. He fell strain into Tamaki's arms, who then cried for his now-fallen best friend. As if the illness of Hikaru, the tears of Sora and Kaoru, and the falling of Kyoya weren't enough; Haruhi shakily lifted up a piece of spicy tuna, smiling dreamily at the small food.

"Wow~I can't believe it! A real piece of fancy tuna?" A roach crawled into Haruhi's mouth as she opened wide for the tuna roll, causing Sora to vomit rainbows violently. Haruhi ignored her and the bug on her tongue, chomping happily on the piece of sushi.

It's delicious!" She exclaimed, cheeks dusty pink from joy.

Tamaki turned a variety of colors from the disgust and fear he felt

"NO HARUHI!" He screamed, bolting upright in his own bed, sweat dripping down dramatically from his hair. "THAT'S JUST REGULAR OLD TUNA! IT IS BY NO MEANS FANCY!" Members of Tamaki's staff all sigh, knowing the young master had yet another one of his melodramatic fantasies.

[Meanwhile on the other side of town]

Sora stared in awe at the cute building in front of her, admiring all of the rooms. She paces back and forth, excited to hang out with Haruhi on a weekend.

On a whim, the second-year hostess decided to stop in and make a surprise visit at the Fujioka residence. Back home for Sora, things have been... unpleasant recently, to say the least. In order to distract herself from her family, the past, and anything else stressing her out, the sixteen year old set off for some low-key fun. And who better for a chill day than Haruhi; the fifteen year old honors student with the heart of a forty year old worker!

Sora balled her hand into a confident fist, "I got this!" She says to herself "I'm carrying teen magazines in my purse, gum, and an eight-sided Rubix cube! Commoners love stuff like this!"

"HARU!" Sora shouts, cupping her hands over her mouth. "HARUHI! IT'S SORA! HARUHI!"

Her yelling attracted the attention of a large crowd of people (though the dark-haired girl didn't seem to notice) Sora frowns, confused as to why Haruhi wasn't coming out. An old man, who for some reason was taking pictures of Sora, caught the girl's attention. She gave him a smile and lightly grabbed his hand, "Excuse me, sir, do you know how to ring the doorbell on a place like this?" She let go of his hand and pointed at the residential building "My friend lives in that house."

The old man blushed and slightly chuckled at the sight of the pretty teenager, "W-what room number?"

"Pardon?" Sora tilted her head, "What do you mean by that?"

"Senpai?!"

Sora turns and spots a freshly showered Haruhi standing outside of a door, the first-year still had damp hair and the sleeves of her dress clung to her arms as if she put the pink dress on while still dripping wet. Sora's yelling and the sound of a crowd forming caught Haruhi's attention while the girl was in the middle of bathing, so she got out and dressed as quickly as she could. Sora smiles, "Haruhi! I came to hang out!"

Haruhi sighs and quickly rushes down to see her club member, "Senpai-" Before Haruhi could finish, the crowd fully circled around Sora.

"...Are you some kind of actress?"

"You're very pretty miss~"

"She's wearing designer clothes with a fierce looking face like that? Scary."

"...Is she a mob wife?"

"Maybe she's a trainee!"

The crowd became so large and rowdy it swallowed poor Haruhi up. Haruhi groaned and attempted to free herself from the sea of people. All she wanted to do today was go shopping and do laundry, not handle the paparazzi forming outside her home.

..

"Oh, I see," Sora says, clutching plastic shopping bags carrying fruit in her hands "You only live in one of the rooms of that building..." One of her eyes twitched, "Kyoya really didn't let me know that."

Haruhi sighs, thinking back to how hard it was to convince those people Sora was just a classmate of hers and not a famous person. Sora frowned, noticing Haruhi's weary expression "Sorry... My yelling must've embarrassed you, huh?"

Haruhi shook her head, "Oh no, it's fine. No need to dwell on it, senpai."

The two girls had gone to a supermarket to do the shopping Haruhi needed for the week. The store was small, cold, and cute, and Sora was more than excited to accompany Haruhi on her shopping spree. Haruhi picked up a carton of milk, "Honestly your yelling isn't what caught everyone's attention... You kind of stand out, senpai."

"Huh? What do you mean?"

Sora was wearing a brown Burberry* trench coat (which was obvious from the distinct brown, plaid design), a black and white Gucci mini dress, black and white Balenciaga lace-up boots, and light brown tinted vintage Chanel sunglasses to top it all of. Sora also put mascara on to compliment her brown, sharp eyes and tied her sleek, black hair up into a ponytail. While her attempts to doll up did make her look fierce and expensive from head to toe— she stood out like a sore thumb. After a few seconds of Haruhi merely staring at the girl, Sora got the hint and gasped.

"Dude I wasn't even thinking!" Sora frantically moved her head around and snapped her fingers, "I think I spotted clothes at the front of the store! I'll be back in a minute, Haru!"

Haruhi sweat-dropped, "W-wait, Sora-" Before she could finish, Sora had tossed the bags into the shopping cart along with the apples she was holding. Haruhi, though somewhat annoyed, was touched by Sora's attempt to spend time with her and, although Sora was just as dumb as the rest of the rich people Haruhi knew, the girl's determination to genuinely fit in and not draw any attention was amusing. Haruhi continued shopping, knowing Sora would eventually run back to her.

On the other side of the store, Sora had quickly picked up and paid for a white t-shirt she spotted in the kids' section, a pair of dark blue jeans she picked up from a men's section, black and white checkered shoes in a teens section, and a new pair of plastic white-framed, pink-tinted sunglasses.

She bolted into the women's bathroom and ignored the two girls who giggled at the sight of her hysteric running. In the stall, she quickly strips off her dress and put on the t-shirt. The shirt had a cartoon strawberry on it and was too short for Sora's long torso, but it worked.

Suddenly, Hikaru's ring tone startled the girl and she almost dropped her phone into the toilet. Catching her breath for a moment, she answered and put the phone on speaker.

"Hello?"

"...Why are you panting? Are you really some kind of dog?"

Sora put on the jeans, which were a very small size so while they fit her hips, they were a little too long and the ankles flared out, "I'm hanging out with Haruhi and I had to run and change clothes. What do you want?"

"Oh hey, perfect timing!" Kaoru says, "Kyoya-senpai just called and said we're going to Haruhi's house. Boss's orders."

Sora rolls her eyes and slips on the checkered shoes, "Seriously? God, if I didn't already annoy Haruhi today this will surely do it."

The twins both lean into the phone, "So what? You don't want us to come?" They ask

Sora puts her purse strap around her shoulder and shrugs, "It's whatever. See you in a bit."

She hangs up and leaves the bathroom stall, whipping the door open with a little too much force. The two girls who laughed at Sora's clumsy entrance into the bathroom stall gawked at her, impressed by the girl's fashion. One of them, a girl with blonde hair and a dark spray tan pointed at Sora, hands shaking. "A-are you some sort of model? How did you manage to make a cartoon strawberry crop-top and dad jeans look good?"

Sora tilts her head in confusion. "Aren't these just, like-" She turns around and examines herself in the bathroom mirror, "standard commoner clothes?"

The girl with the bad spray tan rudely shoves her finger accusingly in Sora's face, "Commoner? You must be some rich girl, huh? I knew I saw a real Burberry coat in your arms!" She exclaims with a toothy grin

Her friend shakes her head, "Mei!* Shut up! I'm not trying to piss off a celebrity!" She hisses, glaring at the "Mei" girl. Annoyed and rushing to get back to Haruhi, Sora tosses her expensive dress, dress-coat, and sunglasses onto the bathroom floor*. "Look," She says, opening the door to leave the bathroom "You can have this stuff if you want, but I've got to go!"

She rushes out and the two girls watch her leave with mouths agape before the door fully closed behind her.

"What a bitch! Tossing that stuff on the floor like that!" Mei says, putting her hand on her hips. Her friend nods in agreement, "So fucking rude."

"…"

"…"

"…"

"Soooo," Mei mumbles, "I get the coat and glasses and you get the dress and boots?"

"Deal."

{A little bit later}

"Sora-senpai? Did you really get that much of a kick out of going shopping with me?"

The second-year girl was beaming, skin practically glowing with joy as she carries apples and more teen magazines in the bag in her hands. She looked over at Haruhi with wide open eyes, "Dude, are you kidding? That was the time of my life! I never get to do stuff like that!"

Haruhi tilts her head, "What do you mean?"

"Shopping! Shopping alone with a friend!" Sora exclaims. She closes her eyes as her grin gets even bigger "Nagi never let us out of the house when we were younger and when I was living in South Korea I was monitored, like, 24/7!"

"Overprotective parents?"

Sora snorts, "Mmmm~ Something like that." She responds coyly. Before Haruhi could ask farther, the first year host was shocked by the sight of two expensive limousines and six teenage-

Haruhi's tired, disapproving stare surprises Sora, who looks around to see what the fuss was about. The sight of the twins catches Sora's eyes.

"You've got to be kidding me..." Haruhi grumbles

Sora awkwardly twiddles her thumbs "Oh my goshhh... What are they doing here?" She murmurs, attempting to play dumb towards the fact the other host members were also planning on coming to Haruhi's home today. Tamaki was giving the boys a pep talk as a crowd formed around them, staring in awe at the sight of the six handsome boys and the even more handsome foreign car that they were dropped off in.

"..The words shabby, cramped, or run-down are absolutely forbidden! Don't say anything to Haruhi or her father that may cause them to ask us to leave!" He preaches angrily, marching back and forth. Honey and the twins salute Tamaki obediently.

"Well it's too late for that!" Haruhi replies angrily, balling her hands into a fist. Sora offers Tamaki an apologetic smile, not having let the club president she was already with Haruhi by the time she received his message. The blond did little to acknowledge Sora's presence and just stared at Haruhi with adoring eyes.

Tamaki, the twins, and Honey all give Haruhi a supportive thumbs-up "That pink dress is pretty cute-"

"Shut up! Get the hell out of here!"

Tamaki jumped back in hurt and fright and started yelling at the twins while crying. Sora turned over to Haruhi, "Hey... Before this whole day gets super crazy cause of the club I just wanted to say I liked hanging out with you alone for the morning!"

Haruhi was annoyed but fought off the urge to be snippy, knowing that Sora wasn't a part of the hosts hijacking of this Sunday morning*. Haruhi smiled back at the older girl, "Thanks for helping with my shopping today, senpai."

"Hey, you can be all sweet to devil-dog but not to us?" The twins ask accusingly, affectively ruining the moment between the two girls. Sora scoffs and flicks both of their foreheads, "Maybe Haru likes me more because I'm the least annoying member of this club!"

"..."

"..."

"Okay... second least annoying member of this club."

Hikaru smirks, "Very debatable but more importantly-"

"What are you wearing?" Kaoru finishes, fighting off a laugh. Sora, by all means, did not look bad. However, a cartoon strawberry wearing sunglasses is just not a shirt anyone thought they'd see the girl ever wearing. Sora sticks her tongue out and spins around, "You like? This little ensemble was actually quite the hit back at the grocery store me and Haru shopped at." Sora motions back towards Haruhi, who's attention was on her approaching land-lady.

Both Hikaru and Kaoru look at her in awe, "You got to go to the commoner supermarket?"

"Yup!" Sora flips her hair dramatically, "It was a total bonding moment that unfortunately got crashed by you losers~" She teases playfully

Hikaru flinches and scratches his head, "Yikes, try not to do that again, please? You're getting your dandruff everywhere."

Sora glares back at the twin with an annoyed look in her eyes, "You know you...you're... Shut the hell up."

[Hikaru's first win]

The seven other host club members all sat gym-style around Haruhi's table while the girl attempted to make a tea that Hikaru and Kaoru brought her. Haruhi's apartment was cute and neat, but so completely different from the housing of the other club members that they were all slightly uncomfortable. Sora fiddled with the eight-sided rubix-cube she brought to distract herself. Honey leaned towards her, "Woah, a puzzle! Where'd you get that from, Sora-chan~?"

"I found it in my brothers room! Isn't it cute?" Sora replies, twirling the toy around. "I like the different colors!"

Instead of the standard six sides, this puzzle had eight. Instead of the standard colors, the sides were white, red, pink, dark blue, light blue, orange, lavender, and green. Sora, not really good at puzzles, had the toy's sides all scrambled up. Haruhi sat Sora's tea down first, causing the girl to drop the toy on the floor. "Thanks for making tea, Haruhi!"

"No problem.. sorry not all of the cups match."

Tamaki leans over the table and quickly examines each teacup. He sighs and sits back down. 'At least she isn't using chipped bowls and measuring cups' the blond thinks to himself

Honey neatly sets out each cake he brought and excitedly motions towards them, "Here, Haru-chan! You can pick first!~"

"Really?"

Hikaru nods and smirks, "Go ahead, we're rich we eat this kind of stuff all the time" He gloats. His comment is met with a quick elbow to his gut by Sora, causing the boy to go limp. A red vein pops on his head in annoyance and he glares at her, which causes Sora to match his same annoyed expression as well. "I was trying to be considerate" He hisses. Sora fake coos, "Well then try harder~" she whispers back

Some time passes and each host club member finishes their cake. Honey leans back and wipes his mouth in satisfaction, "Ahhh~ Eating all that cake sure wiped my appetite."

"Hey Haru?" Sora tucks a her hair behind her ear, "We did kinda pop in on you unexpectedly so why don't we treat you for lunch?"

Haruhi shook her head, "Oh no, that's not necessary senpai." She held up her arms defensively, "I don't know if I could forgive myself if I had to pay any more money back to you all."

Sora frowns. That whole "debt" aspect of Haruhi's time with the club was easy to forget about sometimes. Kyoya pulled out a gold debit card, "Well if it makes you fell better, how about we pay for lunch using the money we earned from the photos of you we auctioned off?"

Haruhi went limp, "So I'm paying for it after all?"

"Looks like it.." Sora says, offering Haruhi a small, sympathetic smile. Haruhi shook off her exhaustion, "Well if that's what you want, I have a friend who runs a nice little sushi shop near by. Their stuff is pretty high-quality."

"Oh cool that sounds-"

Tamaki jumps up and frantically searches for a pen and paper, startling Sora. He gets back down and quickly writes a note, much to the confusion to everyone else. He folds the paper and passes it to Haruhi. She scans the note, "Be careful Haruhi...Just because a sushi label says premium... Does not mean it's high quality."

Cold as ice, Haruhi crumbles the note up and tosses it into a nearby wastebasket, "I'm not stupid. I could figure that out on my own."

Tears well up in Tamaki's eyes but before he could throw a hissy fit Sora interrupts him, "If there's too much... drama.. over ordering sushi why don't we make something? Like... ramen or katsudon or something?"

"I'd love it if you made something for us, Haru-chan." Honey innocently added. The twins and Tamaki all frantically protests and try to stop Sora and Honey from talking any further (much to the irritation to Sora; who was this close to elbowing each of them in the stomach) Haruhi shrugs, "It would take me some time..."

"We can wait!" Honey exclaims in a sing-song voice as Sora gives Haruhi an approving nod. Haruhi scratches her head, "Though... I'm gonna have to go to the supermarket again."

"I'll go with you!" Sora exclaims, already standing up ready to go.

The twins quickly jump up excitedly "We're coming with you" Hikaru proclaims "We want to see a commoners supermarket." Kaoru adds on

"Me too~ Me too~!"

"..."

"...This could be a learning experience"

"YAY!" The twins shout, grabbing Sora and running out the door "COMMONERS SUPERMARKET! COMMONERS SUPERMARKET!"

Sora snorts and once they are down the stairs pushes them off of her, "Relax! You guys are gonna embarrass her acting like that." Honey, who was close behind, spun around Sora and twins, "But this is just so exciting! It's gonna be so fun, right Takashi?"

"...Yeah."

Kaoru glances back at the still-open front door to the Fujioka residence. While everyone else walked ahead, Kaoru fell behind, curious to what was taking Haruhi and Tamaki so long to come out and join everyone else. Kyoya glances at the younger Hitachiin twin, "Everything alright?"

Kaoru's eyes widen, surprised by Kyoya's sudden question. "Yeah, why wouldn't I be?"

Kyoya paused and prevented a smirk from appearing on his face "Oh no reason. I just noticed you stopped walking...That's all." He comments matter-of-factly. Kaoru doesn't respond verbally but he smiles at the vice-president. It was probably clear as day to someone as insightful as Kyoya that Kaoru missed having Haruhi near by.* The younger twin brushed past a woman on her way to the same building Haruhi lived in as he intently watched Hikaru and Sora walk side-by-side, trying to push aside his feelings of being left out.

"God," Sora hisses "Have you ever noticed how much of a mouth breather you are? It's gross."

"You know what's even grosser? The food stuck in your teeth" He shoots back, a playful glean in his eyes "Makes me want to... Eugh"

Sora pauses and her eye twitches, "Don't you dare..." Hikaru continues making noises until transition to fully fake gagging. Sora punches his shoulder, "Stop! You douchebag, that's so gross!" She says, laughing.*

Kaoru smiles at the sight, comforted by the fact Hikaru was finally friendly towards Sora. Suddenly, a crashing noise catches all of their attention. Everyone pauses, and the four who moved ahead of Kyoya and Kaoru walked back towards the two. "Uh, did anyone else hear a loud bang?"

"It sounded like someone punching a hole in the wall." Kaoru says, looking back towards Haruhi's apartment. Hikaru nods, "We should go make sure boss didn't break something back at Haruhi's place."

The twins rush back to Haruhi's home and Sora runs after them, also curious if the sound came from Tamaki and Haruhi. The twins lean in and glance into the apartment nonchalantly. "Hey boss what's taking you so long?" Hikaru asks casually

"Woah, that lady I passed downstairs was Haruhi's father" Kaoru notes, now noticing the man's large hands and Adams apple. Sora, who just caught up to the twins, points at the wall, "So nobody's gonna mention that big Tamaki-shaped dent? Seriously?"

Her statement went ignored as the twins took advantage of Tamaki's bad luck and walk on him, holding their hands out to Mr Fujioka, "Nice to meet you, Haruhi's dad! We're friends of your daughter, the Hitachiin twins!"

"You're a drag queen, aren't you?"

"You're the first real one we've ever seen!"

The twins both glance down at Tamaki, "So you've finally made the moves on Haruhi, huh boss?"

Sora's eyes widen. The hostess never really thought about it much, but does Tamaki actually like Haruhi? Wouldn't it be kind of weird for two people in the host club to like each other?

Totally weird, right?

Sora shakes off that thought and puts it in her 'to-be-discussed-later' box (that seems to be getting bigger and bigger) the girl politely holds out her hand to Haruhi's dad, "Mr Fujioka, please excuse Tamaki here. He's really obsessed with Haruhi-"

"NO!" Tamaki shouts, standing up and knocking the twins off of him, "You got it all wrong! I'm not obsessed with Haruhi or some kind of pervert, I care about her!"

The twins and Sora all stare at Tamaki in shock, nervous the club leader was about to make a confession. To the relief of everyone* the blond is an idiot.

"I love Haruhi… Like she's my own daughter."

[Haruhi's father's first impression of Tamaki: he's an idiot]

"I get it.. you must be the host club I've heard so much about."

Ryoji Fujioka sat next to his daughter, grinning at the five boys he sat across from. His long maroon hair and glamorous makeup made him appear just as much a woman as Sora herself. The second year girl sat on the other side of Haruhi, intently watching Mr Fujioka interact with the club members. "You're all such a handsome group of young men~ I'm not sure which one of you I like best!" He says happily. Sora glances at the sulking Tamaki, who was very clearly not the one Ryoji liked best.

"You know what? Why don't you all just call me Ranka!" Ranka points to himself, "That's the professional name I go by at the drag bar I work at."

"Professional name? Is that like a stage name?" Honey asks. Ranka nods, "exactly like that, Mitsukuni!"

Honey smiles and stands up excitedly, "You know my name~!?"

Ranka smirks and sips tea. He points at Honey and Mori, "You two are third-years; Takashi Morinozuka and Mitsukuni Haninozuka… And the two of you-" He points at the twins, "Are first years in the same class as Haruhi, the Hitachiin twins! I'm not sure which is which, but I've heard a lot about you two!"

Kaoru's eyes widen "What? So Haruhi told you about us?"

Ranka shakes his head with a big smile planted on his face, "No~ Kyoya told me all about you over the phone!"

On cue, Kyoya and Ranka plant their hands together happily. Kyoya gives Ranka a polite smile, "You really are a beautiful person, Ranka."

"SAY WHAT?"

Tamaki and Sora, annoyed by Kyoya's constant sneakiness, both grab Kyoya's shoulders menacingly. "Kyoya…" Sora hisses, "Why would you be calling Haruhi's father-"

"-Without telling anyone." Tamaki finishes, his eyes gleaming. Unaffected, Kyoya merely shrugs, "We've been trusted with the care of his precious daughter. It's only polite to give him periodic reports and properly introduce ourselves. Normally that'd be your job, Tamaki."

Tamaki snaps back and falls over dramatically, hurt by Kyoya's statement being completely reasonable. Sora rolls her eyes and retracts her hand too, "Still, it's super weird you were making secret phone calls to someone's dad."

Ranka snaps his fingers, "You three are classmates as well, right? Kyoya, the vice-president of the club. Tamaki Suoh, the club president and complete fool-" Tamaki flinches and falls backwards again, as if Ranka's words pierced him in the chest. Ranka paid him no attention and continues, "Sora Kawashima, the daughter of a well-known music executive and CEO! A very pretty girl that... looks kinda familiar."

Sora clears her throat, "Aw, thank you! Haha I've been told I have one of those faces*"

"Have you ever done modelling work? You look just like-" Ranka starts rummaging through a nearby bin containing magazines. He suddenly pulls out a magazine titled Adore. He flips to page with three girls on it, "Suzy-chan! From this one group in Korea!"

...

..Fuck.

Everyone leans over the table to see Ranka's magazine. The page he was on showed a picture of three girls wearing elaborate costumes of different colors. The skirts were layered and puffy and the tops covered in sparkles. Though "Suzy-chan" had short, dyed blonde hair, she did indeed share a lot of features with Sora.

"A lot" meaning all her features; the girls were practically identical.

"Woah, I remember that group!" Sora excietedly exclaims, scratching the back of her head "I used to see them around while I lived back in South Korea!"

Ranka grabs his face and squirms around excitedly, "I loved their songs! Too bad they never debuted, they were something else! I used to try and watch their show with Haruhi-" Ranka attempted to pull his daughter into an affectionate hug but is immediately shrugged off. Haruhi starts walking away from the table much to Ranka's devastation, "Haruhi where are you going?" He whines childishly

Haruhi, still annoyed by the revelation of Kyoya talking with Ranka, gives her father a cold stare, "The supermarket, all right? You all just stay here and let me shop."

"Can I join you, Haru?" Sora asks. Haruhi nods but shoots the twins down with a single look as soon as they open their mouths to ask the same thing, clearly not wanting a whole group supermarket sessions. The two girls leave the building, ignoring everyone's protests as they do so.

..

Do they seriously think they're being sneaky? They're all so fucking loud!

Sora sighs and stares at Honey running down the aisles of the store, mentally reprimanding each host club member just running around as if they aren't noticeable. Ironically, Haruhi seemed to be too immersed in her shopping to see them (or perhaps she was just doing her best to ignore them) and was putting veggies in her shopping cart without any troubles.

Sora approached the girl, "Hey Haruhi-" She starts. Haruhi slightly flinches, startled out of her shopping-trance by Sora's voice, "Was you dad actually a fan of that group earlier?" Haruhi blinks slowly in confusion and Sora waves her hands around to jog back the younger girls memory, "You know... 'Suzy-chan' from the magazinee he showed us?"

Haruhi tilts her head, "Well...yeah? That's a pretty random question. You knew them, senpai?"

"Mmm, something like that." Sora shrugs her shoulders, "They were going to debut under my dads company.. that's all. But it's kind of weird to talk about soo..." She drifts off, not allowing herself to be even try to talk about anything in her 'to-be-discussed' box— especially not those bad memories.

Haruhi puts more vegetables in her basket, only paying Sora half-attention. "Were you saying something, senpai?

Sora lets out a small laugh and shakes her head, "Nah, nothing important."

They continue to walk down the aisle and shop quietly until sound of Tamaki squealing and Ranka fussing erupted behind the girls. Sora snorts, "You do know they're here, right?"

"I thought if I ignored them they'd go away." Haruhi mumbles, sweat-dropping in annoyance. Sora laughs and walks towards Ranka, who had just kicked Tamaki onto the cold, dirty floor. "Ranka-san?" Sora says, "This may be super weird but...I just wanted to say you're a good father."

Ranka's eyes widen by Sora's out-of-the-blue compliment. "Oh?" He says, "Thank you but.. Why do you say that?"

Sora awkwardly scratches her cheek, "You do everything you can to make sure Haruhi's happy and you're super proud of her and of yourself too. Folks like you are pretty hard to come by.." Sora pauses and glances at Kyoya and Tamaki, "Well, to us they are anyways.*"

Ranka smiles, "I don't know everything about you all, and I'm sure you don't know everything about each other, but.." He stares at the sight of Tamaki and Haruhi chatting about food, "You all make each other so happy... Haruhi's mother passed away when she was young, you know. And although she's had so much time to heal this seems like the first time in ages she's ever had such fun.."

Sora smiles, glad to get reassurance that Haruhi actually liked her friends and didn't just tolerate the club against her will. Before the girl could respond, Ranka suddenly stomps his foot and growls, "But not too much fun! THAT LITTLE SUOH BOY BETTER KEEP HIS MONSTUROUS HANDS AWAY FROM MY PRECIOUS DAUGHTER!" Sora sighs and shakes her head

Poor Haruhi never gets a break, does she?

-Chapter end-

Hey y'all it's been a while huh? Sorry~ I've been busy with school but I'm out for break now so I promise no more six month hiatuses! Thank u for your patience!

This chapter was super sloppy but bear with me pls I'm just getting back into the grind of things, I promise I'll be better uwu

Notes(*)

*Burberry and Gucci and Chanel are all just expensive brands

*Mei Yasumura is a canon character. She's manga-only but she's the daughter of the guy who runs the resort Haruhi works at during the refreshing battles or whatever. She'll be making a reappearance later on. Like I said a while back, I want to work manga only events into this story so stuff like Hikaru dyeing his hair, Kaoru liking Haruhi, and Tamaki and Haruhi becoming a thing is in this story as well

*Sora genuinely was not trying to be rude she was just overwhelmed and clothes like that are so easily accessible to her she didn't feel the need to keep them

*Sora wasn't completely innocent. She new the hosts were coming and just didn't tell Haruhi. Haruhi didn't know that, however.

*Even though Hikaru doesn't like Haruhi like he does by this point in the actual series, Kaoru still does

*This references the beach chapter where Sora tells Hikaru people throwing up freaks her out. It's not a super serious phobia though that's why he's poking fun at it

*Everyone's relieved for different reasons. Ranka of course just doesn't want Haruhi to get a boyfriend, Kaoru likes Haruhi, Hikaru and Sora are both afraid of things becoming weird or awkward. Haruhi doesn't know what's going on tho she's just clueless

*Sora's saying people say she looks familiar all the time

*Sora knows Kyoya's dad is a dick and knows all about Tamaki's family drama. She's saying that she, Tamaki, and Kyoya all have dads opposite of Ranka.
