Heather and Herobrine whirled around, and were immediately met by a pair of glowing eyes in the darkness. Herobrine shoved his wife behind him, but this placed her within reach of the enderman, who promptly snatched her into his arms. Heather shrieked, grasping for her sword, but her arms were firmly pinned.

"Hero!" She cried out, and she spied just a flash of the panic on his face before the enderman teleported, whisking her away. Heather gasped in horror as the walls around her suddenly become obsidian - this wasn't good. This was not good. Hero was already hurt, there was no way he could handle Null by himself-

This was when the Enderman made the mistake of letting her go.

Heather was dropped onto the obsidian floor, and she stumbled, whirling around to face her captor. The enderman didn't budge, just watching, and she gritted her teeth. The next instant, her sword had appeared in her hand, and Heather launched herself at the unsuspecting creature's head.

The enderman yelped as she slammed into it, knocking it onto its back on the ground. It immediately teleported to the other side of the room, but with Heather's grip on it she came with it. It followed up its attempted retreat by trying to shove her off, but Heather pressed the blade of her sword to its neck and it froze.

"Bring me back." She snapped.

".em llik t'noD" The enderman warbled instead. Heather scowled at it, but let up on the blade a bit.

"!kcab em gnirb dias I"

"!taht od t'nac I"

"!taorht elbaresim ruoy tils I ro ,won kcab em gnirB" She snarled. The enderman trembled, then gave a small nod.

The next instant, she was back in Notch's room, silence broken by the clashing of blades.

Heather scrambled upright, scanning the room desperately for any sign of her husband. He was near Notch's consoles, and steadily being backed up by Null's relentless attack. She could see his hands shaking from where she stood. Lifting her sword, Heather let out a frightened/furious shout as she charged at his attacker, and Null spun in alarm just in time to block her attack.

"What is the meaning of this?" He shouted, presumably at the enderman.

"!em llik ot tuoba saw ehS"

"Then die, you stupid creature!" Null swung at her but she deflected it, jabbing her sword at his gut and forcing him to back off. A hand grabbed Heather's wrist, and she jumped, but it was only Herobrine. He said nothing, only took up a position beside her and readied his pickaxe. Before them, Null's gaze switches quickly between them both. Finally, he huffed, and lunged at Heather.

The queen batted his sword away, and Herobrine shifted forwards to stab at him. Null sidestepped, keeping Heather between himself and her husband. Undoubtedly he believed her to be less of a threat. Gritting her teeth, she waited for him to let down his guard, then jumped at him. Show him to underestimate her.

Heather was mildly surprised that Herobrine didn't stop her, but she had little time to wonder as Null attacked. His sword came from the left, then the right, and she deflected both before launching an attack of her own. Null was forced back as his sword rang off hers, and Heather managed to land a hit on his midsection, but were rewarded only by the sound of it shrieking off diamond armor rather than the sound of a blade on flesh.

Wait, he was wearing armor?

Glass shattered behind her, and at that moment Herobrine appeared behind Null, swinging his pick towards his chest. Unfortunately, Null jerked to the side in time for the blade to glance off his (invisible?) chestplate. Herobrine, on the other hand, was visibly fully armored now, and as he'd caught Null's attention Heather took the opportunity to equip her own armor as quickly as she could. She also briefly glanced around for the source of the glass sound - a few shards were lying on the floor. The source was unclear, but she suspected Herobrine may have used a splash potion.

The enderman was gone, too.

"Heather!" Herobrine shouted, and Heather refocused her attention on Null just in time to dodge. The creature rained down blows upon her, forcing Heather onto the defensive before Herobrine came up from Null's left and bashed him in the head with the handle of his pickaxe. Null drew a second sword in his off-hand, about to go for her husband again, but Heather attacked and drew his focus back. Individually, she and Herobrine could both hold their own in a fight. If they were more trained in fighting as a team, Heather recognized in dismay, this would likely be over by now.

Heather swung at Null's neck, hoping his invisible armor wasn't protecting him there, but he deflected it rather easily. With his other sword, he nearly stabbed her in the gut, but Heather dodged quickly enough that it glanced off her side. The action seemed to fill Herobrine with renewed vigor, as he attacked Null far more forcefully than before and drove him off of Heather.

Null was backed up to the far side of the room by Herobrine's blows, using both swords to defend himself. Heather was unsure where the best position was in this fight, so she hovered beside the combatants, ready to step in if Herobrine needed help. Her husband's mouth was set in a thin line, visible eye narrowed into a slit as he shoved Null against the wall and aimed for his neck.

Null teleported, directly behind him, and thrust one of his blades through a gap in Herobrine's armor.

Herobrine gasped, and Heather shrieked "NO!", swinging carelessly at Null's form. Her blade met flesh, but it did nothing except cause Null to teleport away again. His sword was left in Herobrine's stomach, and he grasped at the blade as he let out a small groan. Spinning to face her opponent, Heather bared her teeth in a snarl, watching as Null tilted his head in satisfaction. His other sword hung at his side, appearing to give her an opening, but she could tell that he just wanted to draw her away so he could finish Herobrine off. If only she could see his armor!

Above him, something floated in the darkness, and Heather lifted her gaze to see… eyes. Purple, phantom eyes, floating above Null's head. The enderman, the potion-

Null couldn't teleport, he was using the enderman!

Heather drew a bow and immediately started firing off shots at the eyes. They vanished, leaving Null behind, whose glowing eyes narrowed with displeasure. Behind her, Heather heard a sick squelch as Herobrine yanked the sword out of his body, and she whirled in alarm, but he was already halfway through eating a golden apple. A footstep alerted her, and Heather turned hastily to block Null's attack. Herobrine wasn't finished healing, so she held his assailant off, adrenaline pumping through her veins as she forced the murderous entity away from her husband.

"Where's Steve and Alex?" Heather shouted as she rained down blow after blow. "Where's Notch?!"

"You'll know soon enough." Was Null's only response. Probably where his Enderman had tried to take her, then.

"For that matter, where's Manfred?!"

"Likewise." Heather stuck her foot out, tripping him, and Null's stumble allowed her to plant her sword in his bicep. She drove the blade nearly up to the hilt, but Null barely flinched, only switching his sword to his other hand before swinging it at her head. Heather couldn't remove her sword in time to block it, and she was forced to duck, throwing up her arms to try to protect her head.

The harsh ringing of metal on diamond sounded directly next to her ear, and Herobrine grasped Heather's shoulder to steady her as she peeled her eyes open to see Null stumbling back… with her sword.

"For being no friend of Notch, you do seem quite concerned about him." Null commented, yanking Heather's sword out of his arm and letting it drop with a clatter. Heather followed it with her eyes, itching to get in there and snatch it back. "Not that I would expect anything less from his puppet."

"I am no puppet." Herobrine snapped. "You are simply a common enemy."

"Oh? If anything, he should be a common enemy of ours." Herobrine lunged at him again before he could finish his monologue, driving him against a wall and forcing him to toss an Ender pearl. Apparently his Enderman was nowhere to be found.

"And where did this come from?" Herobrine hissed as Heather hurried to retrieve her weapon. "As I recall, you've only ever wanted to kill me."

"So has he, at least I've never been subtle about it."

"So what, then? Should I have begged to join you when you first challenged my rule?" Null appeared to consider it.

"Honestly, at the time, I doubt I would've spared you. Now, however…" Null edged closer. "…800 years in a Nether Portal has given me a sort of a new perspective."

"Is it 700 or 800? Make up your mind." Herobrine moved to attack, but was interrupted as the Enderman appeared- holding a primed creeper in its grasp.

Heather barely managed a sharp gasp before it exploded, sending her hurtling against the far wall. A low chuckle broke through the ringing in her ears, and forcing her eyes open allowed Heather a glimpse of her husband, crumpled against one of Notch's panels. He wasn't moving.

"Good work." Null was saying to the Enderman when she looked up. "Take her back, I'll deal with the Nether Lord." His lackey nodded, and he teleported in front of her, looming over her prone form. Adrenaline flaring through her. Heather felt for her sword, but found only a rock. She hurled it at the Enderman's face anyway, and he teleported involuntarily out of the way with a hiss.

"Nether, Nigel, it's just one girl. Unarmed, for that matter. Surely you can handle that." The Enderman hissed, but appeared beside her again, and this time Heather had nothing to fight it off. She grasped helplessly at the thin hands as they grabbed her forearms, and her world was plunged into black.
